THUNDER ON THE HILL BRINGS SUCCESSFUL CLOSE TO 2005. . .
FEATURE TREATS GO TO ROCHELLE, GREBE, GILMORE, MANMILLER & BRIAN. . . .
JEFF STRUNK Claims Second Consecutive Modified Title Saturday at Grandview

The Annual House of Thunder Halloween Party and 5-25's features only program provided still another crowd pleasing event on Saturday night at the Bechtelsville, PA Grandview Speedway.  This event marked the season finale for the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series and the Grandview Speedway.  Winning the Grandview Thunder 5-25's was Jason Rochelle in the Rolling Thunder Legends, Junior Grebe in the Late Models, Kenny Gilmore in the 358 Modifieds as Doug Manmiller won the Big Block Modified feature as Bill Brian Jr won the URC Sprint feature night cap.  Jeff Strunk earned his second consecutive COMDIAL Modified Crown in the four race series.

Following eight days of rain, Grandview Speedway and their fans were treated to bright and sunny day that attracted an over-flowing pits of one-hundred and eighteen cars.   This popular features only format started promptly at 6 PM and was completed just before 9 PM to the delight and appreciation of the many fans.  Early in the evening, spectators were treated with candy, soft drinks, hats and other gifts from COMDIAL Telephone Communications along with pizza from Joe the Pizza Dude.  Fans were also invited to participate in the victory lane ceremonies at the conclusion of the Grandview Thunder 5-25's.

The Rolling Thunder Legends opened the racing program with Jason Rochelle of Schnecksville, PA leading the entire twenty-five feature to earn the win.  Just one yellow was displayed in this event opening the door for Ron Kistler to challenge for the top spot.  Rochelle was flawless and easily captured the feature that was sponsored by Glick Fire Equipment.

Always a popular attraction on the hill, the Hoover Motors Late Models  took control of the Grandview Speedway for their feature event.  Junior Grebe and Randy Stoudt battled most of the race with the two cars making contact on the homestretch in the final laps.  Grebe mastered the one-third mile to take the win over Stoudt, Dave Conover, Dean Schaeffer and Sean Merkel.

The NAPA Auto Parts 358 Modifieds were on the grid.  Danny Erb was the early race leader but a caution on lap two for Doug Manmiller slowed the pace.  On the restart, Erb was the pace setter with Kenny Gilmore in the hunt. Gilmore took the lead with Erb second and a fast closing Ray Swinehart reeling in the leaders.  Swinehart moved into second on lap eleven then set his sights on Gilmore.  In the final laps, Swinehart caught Gilmore and the duo battled for the final five laps.  At the drop of the checker flag, Gilmore took the win by one car length over Swinehart as Jeff Strunk, Kevin Hartnett and Mike Gular made-up top five.

In the COMDIAL Big Block Modified main event, there was a battle for the win as well as a highly contested battle for the Series Championship Title between Jeff Strunk and Billy Pauch.    John Tschudy set the pace for the first three laps with Doug Manmiller taking the lead role on lap four.   Frank Cozze of Wind Gap, PA moved into second on lap five then played a chase game running down the leader.  Back in the pack there was plenty of racing with Mike Gular and Craig VonDohren in the hunt.   Although Cozze pulled within striking distance, he was unable to make a successful pass for the win.  Manmiller earned the checker flag  in this non-stop event followed by Cozze, Mike Gular, VonDohren and MeMe DeSantis.

The night cap was another exciting feature with URC Rookie Mark Bitner setting the pace for the first non-stop eighteen laps.  On the restart, Billy Brian Jr. took the lead but he had company, Dave Ely of West Lawn, PA .  Ely made several serious attempts to challenge for the lead but had to protect his second place position for Mark Bitner.  On the final lap Ely took the low groove and pulled along side Brian to challenge for the lead.  Brian, no stranger to Grandview, knew exactly how to cover the bottle lane and took the win with Dave Ely second Mark Bitner fourth and rounding out the top five was Kramer Williamson.

Wayne Weaver of Vineland, NJ was the winner of the 10 lap Garden State Vintage Car feature event.  Weaver won this hard fought battle in a field of sixteen cars.

In the Valley Forge INC/Fred's Trailer Parts URC Non-Winners Race, Brooke Bowman of Chestertown, MD was the winner of the 12 lap feature.  Bowman won by a commanding margin over Mark Bitner, Josh Weller, Johnny Zimmerman, Will Urkuski and Jamie Bodo.

GLICK Fire Equipment Rolling Legends 25 lap feature- - Jason Rochelle, Ron Kistler, Paul Rochelle, Randy Kissinger, Craig Rochelle, Greg Burd, Butch Brough, Ronnie Dunstan, Roy Danner, Andy Lupfer, Jerry Eldridge, Bob Murray, Bill Harris, Clint Penkauskas, Roy Danner,  Randy Fetterholf, Tim Tomson, Zach Deiter, Josh Morrow, Pat Zellers, Jason Ewing.   $100 bouns to Jason Rochelle for leading at halfway.

HOOVER Chevrolet Late Model 25 lap feature- - -Junior Grebe, Randy Stoudt, Dan Conover, Dean Schaeffer, Sean Merkel, Lou Egrie, Dean Stoudt, John Durling, Mark Malcombe, Dallas Breidenbach, Chris Wojnar, Doug Snyder, Bill May, Chuck Schutz, Kelly Snyder, Rick Todorow, Doug Walton, Buddy Wharton, Mike Kellner, Brian Shuey.

NAPA Auto Parts 358 Modified 25 lap feature- - - Kenny Gilmore, Ray Swinehart, Jeff Strunk, Kevin Hartnett, Mike Gular, Duane Howard, Kevin Hirthler, Tom Umbenhauer, John Willman, Tracy Readinger, Ryan Watt, Danny Erb, Craig VonDohren, Jon Kellner,  MeMe DeSantis, Rick Schaffer, Dommy Erb, Shawn Reimert, Doug Manmiller, Tom Mayberry.

COMDIAL Big Block Modified 25 lap feature- -  -Doug Manmiller, Frank Cozze, Mike Gular, Craig VonDohren, MeMe DeSantis, John Tschudy, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Jimmy Horton, Ray Swinehart, Billy Pauch, Kevin Hirthler, Shawn Reimert, Kenny Brightbill, Ryan Taylor, Donny Radd, Sean Merkel, Tracy Readinger, Danny Erb.

ERB & HENRY  Equipment URC Sprint 25 lap feature- - - Bill Brian Jr., Dave Ely, Dave McGough, Mark Bitner, Kramer Williamson, Curt Michael, Trevor Lewis, Jason Clauss, Chris Coyle, Josh Weller, Tim Hogue, Gary Gollub, Scott Pursell, Pete Green, Dave Bets, Johnny Zimmerman, Will Urkuski, Ed Aikin, Kyle Purks, Brooke Bowman, Kevin Welsh.

This event marked the seventieth race in the sixteen year history of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series.  Plans are already being made for the 2006 Thunder Series that will return to the Grandview Speedway.  On behalf of Thunder Series Co-Promoters Bruce Roger and Bob Miller, that wish to thank the spectators as well as the drivers and owners for the making of another successful season.

Grandview's Season Finale Set for Saturday, October 15th. . . .
GRANDVIEW "FEATURES ONLY" PROGRAM OFFERS INTEREST FOR NEW FANS AND A THRILL FOR THE REGULARS

Now completing its' sixteenth season and nearly seventy racing programs, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series has offered a variety of special events. But one event that stands out above all the rest is the Grandview THUNDER 5-25's, a features only racing program. This show is by far one of the most popular programs since it offers five feature events, with five different divisions. All this and there is NO Qualifying of any kind. That's right. The starting fields for the five divisions are pre-set, including the top cars and stars of their respective divisions. More then 100 race cars will come together and compete in the season finale at the Grandview Speedway on Saturday night, October 15.

In some cases, an evening at the races can be a rather long night, with hours of qualifying leading up to the main event. That is not the case with the GRANDVIEW THUNDER 5-25's. The first of five twenty-five lap features will open the program promptly at 6 PM on Saturday night, October 15.

For the first time race goer, this is a perfect show since it features just the main events of the night. It's a great sampling of a variety of divisions that will showcase the best drivers and the fastest cars of their class. "The Thunder on the Hill 5-25s at Grandview Speedway is an auto racing bargain for hard core motorsports fans and casual race spectators alike. For a $20 admission, five divisions of cars run 25-lap feature events on one of the premier short tracks in the region. That comes to $5 per feature event...an entertainment bonanza for sure." - CHUCK GIVLER - The Express-Times, Easton, PA.

The Saturday, October 15 Grandview THUNDER 5-25's will spotlight a variety of short track dirt racing divisions to include the Big Block Modifieds, URC Sprints, 358 Modifieds, Late Models and the popular Rolling Thunder Legends.

With a great night of fast pace auto racing on the agenda, the special event outing will invite everyone to the House of THUNDER Halloween Party. Expect a night of tricks and treats, special give a ways and it's quite possible, that you could be invited to take part in the victory lane photos if you're wearing your Halloween costume. So come dressed-up for a night on the "hill" and you could be in victory lane with the five feature event winners.

Gates to the HOUSE of THUNDER will swing open at 3 PM with warm-ups getting underway at 5:15 PM. The first of five 25 lap features will take the green flag at 6 PM.

The Monstrous Modifieds will include the talents of the Chad Sinon Motorsports/SUPER 7 of Jeff Strunk, Duane Howard, Billy Pauch, Frank Cozze, Kenny Brightbill, Jimmy Horton and a guest driver, Ryan Godown. This feature event will be sponsored by COMDIAL Telephone Communications.

The Nasty NASCAR Modifieds sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts will find Jeff Strunk doing double duty with challenges from MeMe DeSantis, Craig VonDohren, Doug Manmiller, Shawn Reimert and Ray Swinehart.

As always, the Spooky Sprints of URC will offer a scare or two from their cast of talent which includes Curt Michael, Dave Ely, Trevor Lewis, Ed Aikin, Billy Brian Jr. and Brian Seidel. Erb & Henry Equipment, Inc of New Berlinville, PA is the sponsor of the URC feature event.

In the Looney Late Model ranks, Hoover Motors in Wernersville, PA will sponsor the feature. Watch for Ron Kline, Rick Todorow, Randy Stoudt, Shawn Merkel and Brian Shuey to offer a treat, . . . . and remember, the Late Models were the thrill of the 5-25's event back on August 23rd.

Last but not least are the Ghostly Legends as they add a bewitching touch to the event. Top contenders include Ronnie Dunstan, Jason Rochelle, Ron Kistler, Josh Morrow and Jim Baker with feature race sponsorship provided by Glick Fire Equipment.

An added treat for the fans will be the Valley Forge INC/ Fred's Trailer Parts 12 lap URC Non-Winner's feature event. Each year, Bill Gallagher of Valley Forge and Fred Kennedy of Fred's Trailer Parts sponsor this special feature event that is open to all current URC competitors that have never won a URC feature event. It's a special, sure to produce a first time feature winner.

Race fans always like a touch of nostalgia for an October racing program and this show will be no different. The Garden State Vintage Stock Cars will have a display and offer an exhibition race as well.

In the COMDIAL Modified feature event, Jeff Strunk and Billy Pauch, two of the BPG SUPER 7 drivers are in a tight battle for the series title. Defending COMDIAL Champion Jeff Strunk of Bethel, PA now leads the point chase with just a sixteen point advantage over Billy Pauch of Frenchtown, NJ. Five feature events were presented so far in the COMDIAL Modified Series at Grandview with victories going to Jeff Strunk, Kevin Hirthler, Craig VonDohren, Tim Fuller and Frank Cozze.

The COMDIAL Modified Series point fund will be distributed to the top ten in points on October 15 along with the BPG SUPER 7 payout. ALAN COLE, FRANK COZZE, RANDY STOUDT, BRETT ARDNT, CHAD BEHLER VISIT VICTORY LANE

BECHTELSVILLE, PA . . More than one-hundred race cars filled the Grandview Speedway pit area on Tuesday night for the sixty-ninth NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event. Thunder on the Hill, now in its' sixteenth season presented the fan favorite event, the GRANDVIEW THUNDER 5-25's features only program and a big crowd was on hand to see five different division battle in five twenty-five lap features. Winning the 410 feature was Alan Cole as Frank Cozze took top honors in the Big Block Modified feature. Randy Stoudt won the NASCAR Late Model feature as Brett Ardnt won the 600cc Sprint feature with Chad Behler earning the checker flag in the 600cc Modified feature. A total purse exceeding $31,000 was paid out to one-hundred-and-one competitors.

Fred Rahmer of Salfordsville, PA won the overall 2005 Thunder on the Hill Sprint Championship. Rahmer entered tonights' racing program with just a one point advantage over Mark Smith. Rahmer finished fifth in the 410 sprint feature as Mark Smith finished ninth.

In the 410 Sprint feature, Alan Cole of Bloomsburg, PA led the entire twenty-five distance to collect the $3,500 first place prize. Cole set the early pace, holding off challenges from Dave Cordier and Bill Brian Jr. Deep in the pack Lance Dewease won on the move racing in fourth as Greg Hodnett followed in fifth. Bill Brian Jr made the move to on lap eight and immediately went to work to reel in the leader.

At the halfway mark, Cole has the top spot followed by Brian, Cordier, Hodnett and Dewease. Hodnett moved into third on lap fourteen and one lap later, he was in the runner-up spot. Cole continued to set a blistering pace over Hodnett, Brian, Cordier and Dewease.

On lap seventeen, the yellow was displayed when Bill Brian Jr spun, displaying the yellow flag. On the restart, Cole was quick to establish control as Hodnett followed in second with Dewease third, Cordier fourth and Fred Rahmer now racing in fifth. For the final five laps, Hodnett played the catch-up game but ran short of time to challenge for the win. Cole was the winner over Greg Hodnett, Lance Dewease, Dave Cordier and Fred Rahmer.

In the twenty-five lap COMDIAL Telephone Communications Big Block Modified feature, BPG Super 7 driver Frank Cozze of Wind Gap, PA was the winner. Cozze battled Doug Manmiller in the early going as Mike Gular and Craig VonDohren were on a charge to the front. By lap ten, Jimmy Horton, Billy Pauch and Jeff Strunk were now challenging for the spot in the top five.

At the halfway point a multi-car crash involving Doug Manmiller, Jimmy Horton, John Tschudy, Donny Radd and Shawn Reimert brought out the yellow flag. Just one lap prior, mechanical problems sidelined Craig VonDohren who was running in fourth.

The field regrouped for the restart with Cozze on the point followed by Billy Pauch, Jeff Strunk and Duane Howard. Pauch pulled along side of Cozze to challenge for the lead but the outside groove was the quickest for Cozze. In the closing laps, Jeff Strunk inched closer to Pauch and with five laps remaining, Pauch was again closing in on Cozze to challenge for the lead.

Cozze ran a flawless race to earn the win with Billy Pauch second, Jeff Strunk third, Duane Howard fourth and Kenny Brightbill fifth.

In the Late Model feature event, Randy Stoudt positioned himself to be in the right place at the right time to score the victory. At the outset of the race, Junior Grebe had the field covered leading the first nineteen laps. Grebe was challenged Brian Shuey, Rick Todorow and Mike Kellner most of the race. On lap nineteen, Randy Stoudt took the lead when Shuey and Grebe tangled in turn two, displaying the yellow flag. On the restart, Stoudt was the quickest holding the lead through lap nineteen.

Rick Todorow wanted a piece of the action now racing in second and chasing down Stoudt. For the final five laps, Stoudt continued to set the pace and went on to score the win. Rick Todorow finished second followed by Mike Keller, Buddy Wharton and Lou Egrie.

In the Guhl Motors 600cc Sprint feature, Sean Campbell set the pace for the first eighteen laps and appeared to be well on his way to victory. But a late race caution flag on lap nineteen, changed the outcome of this event. On the restart, Brett Ardnt of Kutztown, PA made an aggressive run for the leading, taking the top spot going into turn on. Campbell quickly fought back to regain the lost position, but Ardnt was not several car lengths ahead of the second place car.

With just five laps remaining, Campbell appeared to closing on the leaders as Glenn Heverin, and Mike Dicely were now on a charge. As the checker flag fell, Brett Ardnt was the winner over Sean Campbell, Glenn Heverin, Donnie Hendershot and Mike Dicely.

In the 600cc Modified feature, Scott Washburn was the class of the field setting the pace for the first twenty-three laps. Chad Behler of Lenhartsville, PA was quickly advancing through the field in chase of the leader. Behler started thirteenth and was now challenging for the lead. With just two laps remaining, Behler took the lead, dropping Washburn to second with Bruce Kindbery third.
