The night played out first with the 4 Cylinder 35 Lap A-Main. The front row is Mike Simpson and Austin Kirby. Mark Diggs shows his strength once again as he did last Evening moving ahead to lead the pack. Caution would quickly Come out as Mark Diggs is slow out of turn 2.
When the green comes out John Stull Jr has the lead and finds Scott McCartney closing in. Billy Sonner Jr, has worked his way To the front and will battle Scott McCartney for second position. By lap 25 John Stull Jr. starts to get a comfortable lead on secondPosition Scott McCartney who battled with Billy Sonner and kept The second position.
With five laps to go the caution will wave for Mike Hawbaker, this Lets the field close up on John Stull Jr’s rear bumper. In the meantime Jeremy Tinsman has come from 18th to the 5th position. On the restart McCartney will pull up and run door to door with John Stull Jr., while the battle up front heats up for second Between Billy Sonner Jr, and Jeremy Tinsman this gets wild when they Make contact and Jeremy contacts the front straightaway wall. His car Comes to a stop and caution waves again.
On the restart with one lap to go Scott McCartney gives all he has as he is door to door with John Stull once again for The lead, but John Stull gets the advantage and is the winner of the2005 Virginia State Championship race for the 4 Cylinders. John Stull competes weekly at Silver Springs Raceway in PA. He was Ecstatic in victory lane about winning the event.
Next up is the Pure Stock 35 Lap A-Main The front row is Donnie Kenney Jr, and Eric Johnson. When the field gets ready to roll out after introductions, Joey Carter Who dominated the B-Main gets towed to the pits with problems.

With three laps to go the green comes out, Eddie McClellan moves into The third position, but this is a short triumph since he looses the tire In turn 3 on the final laps and looses all the positions he had gained. Brian Tavenner who ranthe #11 car has broken intothe top five.
However no one has anything for Bill Henney and he cruises on to Victory lane as the 2005 Virginia State Championship for Pure Stocks.Bill competes at Central Pa Speedway and also competes in the Limited Late Model Class at Hesston Speedway. Bill thanked car owner John Powell In victory lane for the Sleeper Chassis house car.

When the green waves Bo gets the #77 out front and looks like he Is on a rail once again pulling ahead of the field. But while a debris Caution is out he slows and goes to the pits not to return. This gives the lead to Tommy Armel. A couple of scary moments happened When first Gerald Davis spins in the middle of the front stretch and the Track is blocked. Luckily no one gets serious damage, but caution waves. The field is restarted and shortly after Walter Crouch looses the car on The backstretch and Roy Clower makes hard contact and also collects the Car of Greg Elrod. Stuler and Jeremy Miller started on the front row. Gary led the first
50 lap segment flag to flag. Bo Feathers who was running second, gave
his all to get by Stuler once Stuler was in lapped traffic. But when
the caution flag would wave for several incidents, it would open up
the path for Stuler to pull ahead since he did not have to fight
the lap traffic.
The 50 lap fuel stop tightened up the racing once again, as on the Start Bo
Feathers would once again challenge Stuler for the lead. But Stuler
was able to pull ahead on the straight-aways and get a Comfortable
lead. Bart Hartman retires to the pits after a tangle In turn 2 while
trying to gain some positions.
Laps were winding down and by lap 75 Bo Feathers was getting a challenge from Booper Bare for the second position. Caution would wave for a tangle with Todd Andrews and Wayne Johnson. By the halfway mark Rob has the lead and goes on to victory lane.

His car does a wild barrel roll coming off of turn 4, when he makes contact with another car and the outside wall. his car comes to rest in the front stretch. The red flag is waived while track safety Officials attend to the driver. He walked away from the scary crash. The car was a bare frame with all sheet metal tore away from the car totally destroyed. Press Release Winchester Speedway
Winchester VA 8/6/05
Mother nature would not co-operate, and racing had to be cancelled for the
evening at the Winchester Speedway. Winchester Speedway found Denny
Bonebrake back in the 5b car; he looked strong in the heat event.
However the evening would have been an exciting one for the fans, as the
track was extremely fast, and tempers were flaring in Late Model heat racing
events.
All divisions finished their heats, with the most exciting being the Late
Model Heats. Which found trouble between some of the drivers taking a
toll on each others racing equipment when they took out their
frustration on the track.
Also the top 2 points contenders in the pure stock division found themselves
running the consi event, since they did not make qualifying positions.
When the pure stock field lined up for the consi race the skies opened
up and the rain would not stop. No feature events were completed.
No make up date has been set for tonight’s events.

Winchester Speedway, Winchester VA. 7/31/05
Bo Feathers wins the 41 Lap Mike Clore Memorial for the 3rd time.
It is his second win in the #77 Richard Gwizdale owned car. Bo currently leads the points chase at Winchester. The Feathers-Gwizdale combination seems to be a good fit, as Bo said in Victory lane that he will continue to pilot the car for Richard. Bo was presented with a $400 race bonus from the race sponsor B&W Excavating of Centerville, VA.
Members of the Mike Clore family were in victory lane to congratulate the winner. Mike Clore passed away in 1995 from injuries sustained at the Speedway while competing in a Super Late Model event. He was a past track champion also. He was a true gentleman and the Mike Clore memorial race is held annually in his honor.
Local radio station Q102 was on hand and had a live broadcast from the Speedway. Mike Hardy Was presented a bonus of $100 by B&W Excavating for staying the longest for the autograph session that was held before the racing event. eff Yost, Q102 Dee-Jay interviewed drivers, and is huge racing fan himself.
Young Sierra Hottle sang the national anthem before the start of the 41 Lap
event. Members of the Mike Clore family rode in a parade lap around the
speedway in The final moments before the racing began. The front row
consisted of Kris Eaton and Scott Richwine. When the green flag
dropped by Jeff Yost from Q102, Wesly Bonebrake was the early race
leader while the top five battled it out. Side by side battles were taking
place in many positions. By lap 20 Nathan Duboraw had second position,
but had to defend his position against Bo Feathers who was moving
through the pack to the front. A caution would wave when Jonathon Dehaven
has trouble on the track.
On the restart the race leader Wesley Bonebrake, finds Bo Feathers on
his rear bumper and they battle side by side, and the fans are on their feet
cheering. Nathan Duborawwho had the 2nd position, and now runs
3rd, would drift high in turns 1 and 2 and loose several positions.
Bo gets the lead fromWesley Bonebrake and by lap 25 starts lapping the
field in a show of dominance. Bo wins with a full straight-away lead on the
second position of Wesley Bonebrake. Rounding out the top five

Press release Winchester Speedway, Winchester Virginia 7/24/05
Jimmy Spence wins last evenings 15 lap Late Model “Blast from the Past”. Gerald Davis wins last evenings 25 Lap Super Late Model Feature and grabs his first win of the year. Winchester Speedway had a legendary announcer on hand, Mr. Frank Sagi, who in years past was the track announcer at the Winchester Speedway, Last Evening eight legendary drivers performed before a large crowd, in their sons cars at the Speedway. The fans enjoyed a pre race show of classic cars taking some laps around the track.
Bob Pierce drove his 1930 Jalopy racer, which competed when the track was known as “The Airport Speedway” This car, and ones like it were raced before, and after World War II. Paul Sumption who is the father of Semi Late river, Chris Sumption, did some laps in a 1962 Ford Galaxy. Doug Dillenger in a 1980 Corvette. Ray Good in a 950 Mercury and Tim Everhart was in a 1955 Chevy. While this took place the drivers who would compete in the “Blast From the Past” walked down the front stretch and stopped there while the cars were brought onto the track.
This all took place with much approval of the fans who stood and cheered. Frank Sagi spoke to each driver and reminisced with each legendary driver. Ralph Davis talked about his first car he raced, which was a 1958 Ford. Jimmy Spence talked about how he first started at Winchester in the Enduro division. Wayne Feathers started his racing career in 1980 in the Road Runner division. Danny Sullivan known as “The Virginia Gentleman” started his racingcareer in 1969 in the Sportsman division. Ronnie Dehaven said he got his first car from Denny Bonebrake. Red Nininger, who is 79 years old, has raced all over the east coast and even in NASCAR. Denny Bonebrake started his racing career in 1969. Buddy Armel who is the all time winner record holder at Winchester Speedway with 275 career wins in a Lee Stultz owned car spoke about his past at the Speedway.
The drivers drew pills for the starting positions with the starting order lineup: Ralph Davis, Jimmy Spence, Buddy Armel, Denny Bonebrake, Danny Sullivan, Ronnie Dehaven, Wayne Feathers, Red Nininger. When the “Blast from the Past” got the green it was Jimmy Spence who led lap one. While Buddy Armel would battle for the 3rd position with Denny Bonebrake, and several laps they were side by side. Finally Buddy Armel would get by Denny Bonebrake and would challenge Ralph Davis for the second position.
But he was not content with second position and looped the car while trying to gain ground on Jimmy Spence. Caution would wave with 7 laps remaining. n the restart Denny Bonebrake would challenge Ralph Davis for the second position.
This battle goes on until with two laps to go Denny Bonebrake gets around Ralph Davis and sets his sights on Jimmy Spence. In the remaining two laps the pressure is on Jimmy Spence as Denny Bonebrake has caught him and gets to his quarter panel. But Jimmy Spence holds on to the lead, and goes into the record books as the winner Of the “Blast from the Past” In victory lane he said “This is more fun than I’ve hadin a long time” The hard charger award went to Wayne Feathers who came from the rear to 4th position.
The regular show for the Super Late Model 25 Lap Feature was an exciting one. Gerald Davis gets the early lead at the drop of the green flag. But quickly a battle heats up between Tommy Armel and J.T. Spence for the 2nd position. In the meantime Ronnie Dehaven Jr has climbed to 4th place. At the halfway point Tommy Armel has moved into the 2nd position, and the caution will wave when Doug Hayes loops the car in Turn 2. On the restart Tommy Armel wants the lead from Gerald Davis and the two are rubbing sheet metal coming off of turn 4, with Tommy getting the advantage and leads. Doug Hayes looses a wheel, and caution waves again.
On the restart Tommy Armel is slow with a flat tire, and another caution waves. This puts Gerald Davis to the front and he finishes with a comfortable lead on second place J.T Spence and gets his first win of the 2005 season.
Brian Buckler wins the 15 Lap Semi Late Feature. A hard charging Dennis Lamb would come through the field and with each caution get closer to the front. With a late caution, and another restart Dennis Lamb would try to make the move on Brian Buckler, but is unable to get past. Brian Bucker grabs his first win of the 2005 season with a flag to flag victory. Ray Priest wins the 15 Lap Pure Stock Feature. A caution filled event did not stop Ray from leading flag to flag. This is his 2nd win of the season.
Vance Williams wins the 12 lap 4 Cylinder Feature. Vance leads flag to flag and Fought off a hard challenge from Scott Sweeny who was on his bumper for most of the event. and pulled up on his quarter panel to challenge for the lead on several occasions. With a late caution with 3 laps to go, on the restart Scott drifts high and collects the backstretch wall. and this lets Scott McCartney pull up behind Vance Williams, but Vance is too strong and goes on to grab his 2nd victory of the season.
Join us next week for the 41 Lap Mike Clore Memorial, for the Super Late Models along with a full feature program. Gates will open at 5pm with racing at 7pm.
