FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Cyco Custom Race Products Debuts With Carbon Fiber Product Line
By Doc Lehman
Indianapolis, IN --- Management has just officially announced the formation
of Cyco Custom Race Products, a new manufacturer that produces and
specializes in carbon fiber products and components for the racing industry
with products focused primarily on dirt Late Models, Sprint Cars and
Modifieds. The new company, formed by Cy Wilson and Clint Doll, have also
launched a new website located at
www.cycocustom.com Cyco Custom is already drawing a lot of
attention and interest, picking up customers on a daily basis from the world
of racing.
“Cyco Custom is manufacturing light weight Carbon Fiber race car products.
The lightweight product line ranges from hood scoops (4.5 ounces), wheel
covers (4.5 ounces) to oil cooler covers (3.5 ounces), along with additional
products in the Dirt Late Model market. We are also producing and paying
special attention to Carbon Fiber Sprint Car and Modified components as
well. Our entire product line can be found on-line at
www.cycocustom.com ” stated Cy
Wilson, who will head up manufacturing from the Cyco Custom headquarters.
“We’re introducing some new generation parts that are extremely light (mere
ounces), mega strong and durable but yet extremely flexible and adaptable to
any racecar.”
The flexibility and strength of the product was a major priority to Cyco
Custom. And after much research the team has developed a specialty resin for
the Carbon Fiber products that allows much needed flex for the products, but
yet doesn't compromise the strength and integrity of the product!
"We all know how strong Carbon Fiber is, but our challenge was to make a
product that would also adapt with the nature of a race car and allow for
maximum flex, but still keep the strength and durability of the product
unchanged,” continued Wilson. “After a lot of trial and error, we came up
with the right combination. It's really unbelievable how far you can flex
these parts and not hurt the product, but at the same time keeping the
product lightweight and extremely strong and durable."
Wilson is a former dirt Late Model crew chief who spent a number of years on
the team of Australian dirt Late Model star Craig Vosbergen in addition to
administering crew and crew chief duties with such American stars as Steve
Shaver and Eric Jacobsen, among others.
Some of first components being developed by Cyco Custom Race Products for
Dirt Late Models include Hood Scoops, Air Boxes, Wheel Covers, Oil Cooler
Covers, Roofs and Roof strips. In the Sprint Car market the company has
produced Front Wing Caps, Top Wing Caps, Shock Covers and Wheel Covers. The
Modified product line currently consists of roofs, roof strips, wheel
covers, shock covers and oil cooler covers. Cyco Custom is currently working
on additional product designs and hopes to have those available by
mid-summer.
Carbon fiber is a high strength, high stiffness synthetic fiber that is used
in a variety of structural and electrical applications. Carbon fiber
composites have amazing structural properties. Carbon fiber composites are
ten times stronger than steel, yet are still five times lighter. In
comparison to aluminum, carbon fiber composites are eight times stronger,
two times stiffer, but still 1.5 times lighter. Carbon fiber composites have
superior fatigue properties to all known metallic structures, and when
coupled with the proper resins, carbon fiber composites are one of the most
corrosion resistant materials available.
“There is definitely a market for this,” added Wilson. “Time will tell in
the next few months but interest has exceeded our original expectations.”
Wilson also feels his long tenure working in dirt racing allows Cyco Custom
the advantage of knowing and understanding what teams want and need. “That’s
been a big thing from our point of view,” commented Wilson. “It’s got to be
practical as well as useful. It makes it a lot easier for us to relate to
the drivers and teams and their wants and needs. The experience working on
race cars the last 10 years has been an will be an extreme advantage for us
when designing and developing the product.”
Among some of the drivers who are already using Cyco Custom Race Products
components include dirt Late Model stars Earl Pearson, Jr., Matt Miller,
Steve Shaver, Eric Jacobsen, Joe Kosiski, Eric Myers (who with Kyle Figley
have been instrumental in the early stages), Jared Teegarden, Paul Wilmoth
and Steve Wilmoth. Sprint Car drivers who have already began accumulating
Cyco Custom race Products parts include Dean Jacobs, who participated in
some design work, Brian Leppo and Jamie Martin while Modified star Kenny
Johnson driving the Hassy Chassis house car is also a Cyco Custom race
Products customer.
The new website, located at:
http://www.cycocustom.com is comprehensive and detailed. The
website showcases each individual product and all the various options
associated with each. The site is 100% E-Commerce oriented and allows for
secure on-line purchasing by using any major credit card. Customers can call
the Cyco Custom offices to place their order (304-210-8046). Product orders
will ship with-in 24-hours of the order. Carbon Fiber product comes standard
in a black/black carbon fiber finish with options of Silver/Silver. Cyco
Custom can also custom paint the product (Wrisco Color Specs) to match the
color scheme you are currently using on your racecar.
Another aspect of Cyco Custom is their Carbon Fiber Concept option. Any
interested person can submit a concept part for a custom quote to produce in
carbon fiber (not just race related parts). Cyco Custom will review the
request and contact you with-in 48-hours with a custom quote to have your
custom product produced.
"If you can dream it up, we can re-produce it with Carbon Fiber,” explained
Wilson. “While we have our existing product line, anyone who is interested
in a custom quote on anything they would like to have produced just needs to
give us a call or fill out our ‘Custom Concept Form’ on-line."

RANDY HALL COLLECTS USMC DUNHAM
MEMORIAL CASH
E. Smethport, PA
Randy Hall, the hottest driver in the twin state region kept up his winning
with another pair of wins Saturday night at McKean County Raceway. The
Maynard’s Electric super stocks were running their biggest event in track
history on Armed Forces, Edmond Chevrolet/Ed Shults Toyota*Scion, Fassett
Lane Bldg and Home Center night. The two thousand dollar to win Jason
Dunham Memorial in honor of USMC Corporal Dunham, who died sacrificing
himself to save fellow marines in a grenade attack in April of 2004 in Iraq.
The two thousand dollar to win Jason Dunham Memorial for the Maynard
Electric super stocks was on tap. Rich Michael and current track point
leader Randy Hall paced the twenty-four super stocks to Tony VanPelt’s green
flag. Hall jumped into the lead off turn two as Michael and Jeremy
Wonderling followed. The first yellow came on lap two for Junior Peters,
who was sitting in turn 2 facing the wrong direction. Hall again jumped into
the lead and on lap four, defending track champion TJ Shaw moved into
the top three as him and Jeff Cheesebro pushed Wonderling back to fifth.
Lap five saw Hall still in front
with Todd Hansen jumping into the top five from his twelfth starting
spot. Hansen would dispose of Cheesebro on lap 7 for the fourth spot
as he followed the trio of Hall, Michael and Shaw. Lap 9 yellow
eliminated two of the top four runners as Hansen came to a stop on
the backstretch and the third place car of TJ Shaw stopped on the front
stretch, both were done for the night. Hall, Michael, Cheesebro, Jeremy
Wonderling and Steve Dixon rounded out the top five. On the restart Mr.
Excitement, Jeremy Wonderling made a great move to jump into second and was
looking to repeat his win from the night before at Black Rock but that came
to a end on lap 12 when he spun off turn two resulting in another yellow.
During this caution, third place
runner, Rich Michael went pitside with a left rear flat. Cheesbro would not
inherit second behind the fast blue #10 of Hall, while Steve Fields was
sitting a surprising third with Tim Schram and Dixon rounding out the top
five. Hall would sprint out in front of the field on the restart and would
lead non stop the last seventeen laps. The true race now was behind Hall in
the field as the ageless veteran, Ron Baker moved into the top five on lap
17, but only was there for a lap as fifteenth
starter, AJ Young moved into the top five. Lap 20 saw AJ dispose of Fields
for fourth and it appeared the #33 of Young was the only car that may have a
shot at the leader Hall if there another caution appeared. As the laps
clicked off, Hall was in another zipcode and the battle now was for fifth as
Dixon got around Fields for the position and on lap six, Dave Miller put
Fields back to seventh as Miller charged from shotgun position in the field.
But, it would be Randy Hall winning his biggest payday of his career easily over Cheesbro, Schram, Young and Dixon.
A very emotional post race
ceremony included the members of the four military branches, the Dunham
family, friends and members of the Hall racing team as they honored
Jason Dunham. A very beautiful military style plaque was awarded to
Hall. In a very classy move the Olean, NY driver turned and gave it
back to Dan Dunham and family. The three heat race winners were Todd
Rice, Hansen and Cheesbro.
A misty rain returned to the track just as the Advantage Rental Sportsman
entered the track for their main event that saw Jeremy Ensell and Shaun
Freeland on the front row. Ensell would jump into the lead out of turn two.
Third place starter, Billy Uhl followed into second. Jim Meyers brought
out the first yellow on lap 2 as he spun his yellow #45 in turn three.
On the restart, Ensell could not hold off the Zippo sponsored #34 of
Uhl as Ryan Learn leaped into second ahead of Ensell. The fifth lap
marker still saw Uhl in front but Randy Hall was rim riding his way
into the fifth position. A lap six yellow for the spun cars of Meyers
and John Woodward in turn one tighten up the field as two of the top
sportsman cars of Greg Oakes and Hall were sitting third and fifth.
Oakes had a great restart and on lap seven beat Uhl to the line
as Hall went to the top side again to jump up to third over Travis Asel and
Rich Michael. Lap nine would see Hall move into second as Uhl would be
third and Michael and Asel swapped positions.
Lap eleven saw a five car
caution being waved in turn three for Ensell, Woodward, Meyers, Terry
Pangrazio and Shaun Freeland. The final four laps were just awesome as
Oakes and Hall went at it again as they did one week earlier and on
lap fourteen of the fifteen lap event, Hall went to the low side of
Oakes to grab the lead as Uhl was still sitting in third. Hall would
win by two car lengths over Oakes as the top duo finished 1-2 for the
second week in a row, Uhl was third, Michael and Asel rounded out the top
five. Heat winners were Learn and Meyers.
The Coca-Cola street stocks rolled onto the speedway as the light mist had
subsided and Lance Palmer would jump into the lead over John Miller at the
start. This event went without a yellow and Palmer made use of his front
row starting spot. Point leader, Andy Michael moved into fifth on lap seven
as he was charging from his eleventh place starting spot. Two laps later,
he put Justin Tatlow back to fifth and on lap twelve he moved into third,
but there was no catching Lance Palmer as he won easily of Mike Asel,
Michael, Tatlow and Vic Vena. Heat winners were: Brad Bigley, Brett Smith
and Chris Austin.
The R&M Home and Auto / AMSOIL mini stocks were up next as the late evening
was approaching Sunday morning. Smethport driver, Dan Cunningham set pace
for the 4cyl mini stocks. The past few weeks, the #35 of Cunningham has been
improving, but snake bitten with bad luck. That all changed on this
night as he lead the entire distance on won his first feature event of his
career and became the fourth different winner in the mini stocks this year.
The Interstate Micro Mini sprints were on hand for the night at their
fifteen lap feature saw Chris Stanko and Steve Dunmire pacing the field.
Dunmire immediately grabbed the lead and would never be challenged.
The top five were Dunmire, point leader Jay Groves, Doug Karlene, Robert
Robertson
and Mike Shall.
During a break between the heat events and the main feature, current United
Late Model Series point leader and all-time MCR Late Model feature winner,
Todd Andrews hot lapped his brand new CJ Rayburn dirt late model and
unofficially broke the track record of 15.02 seconds set by Mike Balzano
with a lap of 14.9 around the very tacky and fast 1/3 mile oval.
The MCR management team of Ken Leet, Rod Biehler and Tom Gleason would like
to thank all the fans for coming out despite the inclement weather which saw
a rain storm around 6PM that pushed the starting time back a hour and a
half. McKean County Raceway will be dark this coming Saturday night but
will be back in action on Saturday, June 17th with a R&M Home and Auto /
AMSOIL mini stock special and round out the month of June with two special
“THURSDAY NIGHT THUNDERS” that will feature the return of the United Late
Model Series and the ground pounding dirt late models.

JEREMY FUNK & BRUCE HIBBS WIN AT KUTZTOWN
I know Gregg will have the
complete finishing order for each division (at least I'm hoping he got
them), but I thought I would list the top five from each division in the
meantime...
Jesse Hartman appeared to have the field covered in Wednesday night's 270cc
feature at the Fairgrounds. Hartman's mount broke at the halfway point,
though, handing the top spot over to Jeremy Funk. Jeremy then held off a
determined Pat Bealer over the final ten laps to record the victory.
Bruce Hibbs, Jr. notched the 600cc triumph. Brett Arndt, who started 9th,
made life miserable for Hibbs for most of the 20-lapper, but Bruce slowly
extended his advantage during the last few laps, taking the checkered by
several car lengths.

Brunnhoelzl Notches First Career Modified Victory at Mountain Speedway
St. Johns, PA- Many area tracks succumbed to Mother Nature Saturday, but
passing showers never touched the asphalt on the third-miler. Instead, Eddie
Brunnhoelzl was showered with applause in victory lane after he grabbed his
first career-modified victory at the facility.
The 30-lap Balliet’s Country Corners modified feature began with Ernie
Dengler pacing the field to the drop of the green flag. After leading one
lap, Dengler was out muscled by Eddie Brunnhoelzl for the top spot.
Brunnhoelzl remained out front with Andy Walko and Chris Whitenight hot on
his tail. Chaz Serman joined the mix and swapped positions with Whitenight
after a few laps. With twelve laps in the books, Brian Defebo got underneath
Walko for second as they entered turn one. Defebo appeared to have the car
to beat, as he quickly reeled in Brunnhoelzl.
With a bold turn one maneuver, Defebo grabbed the top spot in lap twenty.
The pass however, was called back because the caution waved under the same
lap when Don Wagner had problems near the pit exit. It was under the same
caution that Defebo gave up his second position on the track and went pit
side. He did not return to action.
With twenty-six laps completed it was still Brunnhoelzl out front, but now
over Rusty Smith. The two waged a door-to-door battle until the second and
final yellow flew when Whitenight got into Kory Rabenold in turn one.
Despite heavy pressure from Smith, Brunnhoelzl held on for the hard fought
win, enroot to his first career modified victory at the speedway. Smith
finished second, while Walko, Wayne Szerencsits and Serman rounded out the
top five. “This feels awesome”, noted the young Long Island, NY hot shoe (Brunnhoelzl).
“We didn’t have the best car out there, but once twenty-six laps were in,
there was no way I was going to let anyone by me”.
Tim Santee and Eddie Brunnhoelzl won heat races.
Beau Drobot paced the late model field to the drop of the green flag in the
25-lap feature, but Mike Rodriguez, Jr. made an inside bid for the lead as
the two entered turn three. As the two raced side-by-side they touched. The
end result was a red fag condition after Rodriguez nailed the turn four
wall. Rodriguez seemed shook up, but was uninjured. Joe Hoffman was also
collected in the incident.
Mike Coll assumed the top spot for the restart. Although out front, Coll had
to contend with Drobot and Joe Barbush, as the two were determined to catch
and dispose of Coll. While the two were racing out of turn two, Drobot
checked up and Barbush got into the back end of him, which sent him around.
Both drivers restarted from the tail end of the field, which moved Hoffman
up to second.
Hoffman made his attempt for the lead when he drove underneath Coll as they
raced down the backstretch. The two touched and Hoffman went spinning, which
brought out the lap thirteen yellow. Hoffman was done for the day.
Coll (Long Island, NY) remained out front over the closing laps and cruised
to his second feature win of the season over Joe Brown, Drobot, Barbush and
Joe Oliver.
Beau Drobot won the heat race.
The 20-lap street stock feature took the stage and Glenn Heckman paced the
field from the pole. Heckman held off Barry Callavini, Brad Barbush and Eric
Danyluk during the opening laps, but Barbush took command with five laps in
the books.
Barbush remained in command by mid-race, but the battle for second grew
between Norm Barnes, Jim Yamelski, Paul Frantz and Scott Meckes. When they
weren’t two and three wide, the top four or five cars were literally
nose-to-tail. Meckes eventually worked his way around Barnes and Frantz, and
then went after Yamelski in hot pursuit of second. Again, side-by-side, they
dueled for the spot.
With the two fighting for second, Barbush (Drums, PA) went on to pick up his
first street stock feature win in nearly two years. Yamelski edged out
Meckes for second. Frantz and Barnes rounded out the top five.
After winning the heat race earlier in the evening, Jamie Damon started the
20-lap four-cylinder thriller feature from the pole. He paced the field to
the green with Travis Fisher to his outside. Damon shot out front when the
green flew, and Fisher glued himself to Damon’s rear bumper.
After starting third, Duane Garrison got underneath Fisher for second. He
brought Harry Sager and Joe Sherman with him. By mid-race, it was still
Damon out front, but Garrison and Sager fought relentlessly for second. At
this point in the race, Bill Halstead joined the top five.
A quick caution for debris flew with thirteen laps in. When green flag
racing resumed, Damon continued out front. Although pressured from all of
the cars in the top five, Damon (Fern Glen, PA) held his line over the
remaining laps and scored his first career victory.
Woot Lawrence grabbed the heat win in the 4C super modifieds, which gave him
the pole position for the 20-lap feature. In dominating fashion, Lawrence
took the win over Mike Renn and Greg Thomas.

Twin 20’s This Week For Geisler Racing
Cranberry, PA (May 30, 2006) The Geisler Racing team and 2005 National Dirt Late
Model Hall of Fame Inductee, Lynn Geisler made their way to Pittsburgh’s
Pennsylvania Motor Speedway for twin 20-lap features this past Saturday after
rain forced the cancellation of Friday’s festivities at the Lernerville
Speedway.
Geisler would start on the outside of the front row in the first 20-lap feature
event along side defending track champion John Flinner. Third starting Michael
Davis got a great start when the green flag dropped to put Geisler back to the
third position as current PPMS point leader Lou Bradich also got by. After a
caution, Bradich took the lead from Davis and one lap later Geisler also got by
Davis to put his #1 Cochran Rocket Chassis back up to the second spot. Geisler
was reeling in Bradich only to have something on the car fail going into turn
three. Lynn was unable to keep the car off of the wall and had to retire from
the first 20-lap feature event with a 17th place finish.
In between feature’s the Geisler Gang were hard at work getting the #1 Cochran
Automotive, Marshall Stamping, Groff Tractor & Equipment Inc., Tri-State Hose &
Supply, Bolea Oil, Rocket Chassis GTO ready for the second 20-lap feature event.
The crew was able to the car race ready for the second race as Lynn would have
to start the event in the 15th position. Lynn seemed to have one of the fastest
race cars on the track but just not enough time as he was able to make his way
up to the 8th position when the checkered flag fell. Lynn was awarded the Hard
Charger award for his efforts.
The team will again be at Lernerville Speedway this upcoming Friday as well as
PPMS on Saturday. Next week, June 9th, will be “Fan Appreciation Night” at the
Lernerville Speedway as well as #1 Cochran Night. Not only will there be a
spectacular Zambelli ground and aerial Fireworks display, Lynn Geisler will also
have his car on display and signing autographs before the action gets underway.

Fitzgerald, Pease and Stewart Take ‘NEETS ‘Racin Rich Johnson Memorial Wins
St Johns, PA- High temperatures and sunny skies set the stage for the running of
the ABC Car Crushing NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series ‘Racin Rich Johnson Memorial
Monday at Mountain Speedway. Johnson’s long time friend and former teammate, Ray
Fitzgerald, took the hard fought win over Tim Pauch in the Cascioli Roofing 6/8
cylinder division, while Ollie Stewart grabbed the Steel Seal 4 cylinder win
over Joe Sherman. Bobby “Peaseman” Pease took the 49-lap Custom Classic TRUX
victory over Rob McCormick and dedicated the win to Johnson’s family.
First on the card was the 6/8 cylinder division. Cindy Johnson was in attendance
with Rich Johnson’s former Riverhead enduro car, which she paced the field with
from the pole position in memory of her late husband. The fans all showed the #1
signal, in memory of ‘Racin Rich Johnson as Cindy came down the front stretch
before pulling off the speedway.
“Slippery” Tom Slee led a field of sixty-four Cascioli Roofing 6/8 cylinder to
the drop of the green flag, but was immediately overtaken by Richard Petey.
Terry Nansteel worked through the traffic up front and passed Petey for the top
spot with five laps in the books. However, Petey regained command after a red
flag was thrown for April Makarewicz and Phil Lomanco when they collected on the
front stretch.
Only a few laps after green flag racing resumed, Ray Fitzgerald caught and
passed Petey. The two fought side-by-side for a number of laps, which allowed
Ray Rothfuss and Dave Cascioli to close in. Rothfuss took command of the event
on lap twenty-seven, but hit the pits with problems only nine circuits later.
Petey and Fitzgerald swapped the lead on six separate occasions over the
remaining laps, but problems for Petey forced him to the infield for a couple of
circuits. Over the laps remaining, it was Fitzgerald out front, but a hard
charging Tim Pauch closed in fast. When the white flag flew, the two were nose
to tail. Pauch attempted a low side pass out of turn four to the checkers, but
was beaten by a tenth of a second, as Fitzgerald picked up his fourth NEETS win
in his last four starts. Bobby Pease, Howie Bott and Dave Cascioli rounded out
the top five.
The NEETS Custom Classic TRUX was up next with their 49-lap event. Jim Rotalano
started on the pole and led the first fifteen circuits, but it didn’t take Harry
Sager long to reel in the leader and take the top spot. In the meantime, Bobby
Pease and Rob McCormick dueled side-by-side for second.
Pease disposed of McCormick and set his sights on Sager. With twenty-four laps
in, Pease took control of the race and never looked back as he took the win over
McCormick, John Cozza, Sager and Frank Katona. “It was a great day for me here
today”, noted Pease. “My buddy Rich (Johnson) is here with all of us in spirit.
This is for his family, in honor of him”.
The Steel Seal four cylinders were last to run, with a 99-lap enduro. Kenny
Ferrer led the eighty-two-car field to the drop of the green, but Bob Haeger
immediately shot out front. Without even a lap completed, the red flag flew when
Gwen Sakowski and Bobby Coco collected off of turn four. Scott Ball then slid
into the mix and his car rolled onto its side. Ball was uninjured, but not able
to continue.
Jim Sykes grabbed the lead when racing resumed. At one point, Sykes had almost a
half lap advantage on Ollie Stewart, who was running second, but that all
changed when Sykes machine began overheating with thirty-five laps in the books.
With Stewart in command, Joe Grocholski and Robin Vollmoeller battled their way
into second and third respectively. Joe Sherman and Mike Mujsce also entered the
top five.
Vollmoeller and Grocholski got around Stewart on lap sixty-two when a car
stalled in turn three. When racing resumed Vollmoeller flattened a tire and
headed pit side. Grocholski still led over Stewart, but with only four laps
remaining, the leader encountered heavy lapped traffic. While working the
traffic, Grocholski cut a tire and lost the lead. Stewart led the remaining
circuits enroot to his first NEETS win. In victory lane, he commented that he
used to race at Freeport Speedway and also at Riverhead Raceway with Robin
Vollmoeller.
NEETS driver, Joe Cooper, sponsored lap 29 in the two car races. Joe gave $100
to the driver who led that lap in each division, along with $75 to the second
and third place runners. Ray Rothfuss took the top cash in the 6/8 cylinders.
Later, Ollie Stewart grabbed the top bonus in the 4 cyl. class. The same bonus
was applied for the TRUX at lap 25. Bobby Pease won the top cash prize in that
division.
The next NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series event is the “Firecracker Smacker” on
July 2nd. For more info on the NEETS enduros, please visit

Upcoming events: Monday, May 29th: ABC Car Crushing NEETS Holiday Stock Car
Series ‘Racin Rich Johnson Memorial, featuring 4 cyl, 6/8 cyl. and TRUX enduros
Saturday, June 3rd: regular show featuring modifieds, late models, street
stocks, 4 cyl. thrillers plus 4C super modifieds (thrillers are off)
Barbush, Meckes, Price, Sherman and Tomson Shine in Mountain Victory Lane
St. Johns, PA- Mountain Speedway fans enjoyed the warm weather and side-by-side
racing during Reading Phillies Night Saturday at Mountain Speedway. When it was
all said and done, Joe Barbush was awarded his first late model feature win of
the season, while Scott Meckes notched his second street stock victory of the
year. Bill Price grabbed the thriller feature, Joe Sherman notched his first
career four-cylinder thriller win and Tim Tompson grabbed the win in the
Tri-State Locating Keystone Legends.
Beau Drobot and Joe Barbush shared the front row for the 25-lap late model
feature. When the green waved it was Barbush and Drobot wheeling it out,
side-by-side. The two made contact and Barbush spun to the infield. However,
Drobot wasn’t as lucky and slammed the backstretch retaining wall. Billy Pruitt
was also collected in the incident.
Mike Coll assumed command on the restart with Joe Hoffman in tow. Hoffman worked
both the high and low groove with hopes of overtaking the leader. While exiting
turn two, Hoffman drove underneath Coll and it appeared he would be in charge of
the event. Unfortunately, Hoffman and the leader made slight contact, which
turned Hoffman around. He restarted from the rear of the field.
Mike Rodriguez moved into second and set his sights on Coll. On the seventeenth
circuit, Rodriguez appeared to attempt the outside maneuver on Coll out of turn
four, but then drove down and underneath the leader. The two touched and
Rodriguez came out on top.
Over the final laps, Rodriguez held off charges by Barbush and appeared to pick
up his second straight late model victory of the season. However, after crossing
the scales in post race tech, Rodriguez was disqualified and Barbush (Drums, PA)
was declared the winner. It is his first late model victory since ’04. Joe
Brown, Joe Hoffman, Frank Katona and Joe Barretta rounded out the rest of the
top five.
Beau Drobot and Joe Barbush were heat winners.
The 20-lap street stock feature began with Norman Barnes leading the first nine
circuits after starting at the point. The caution flew with only nine laps in
the books when Jim Yamelski got into John Stonier as they two entered turn
three. When racing resumed it was still Barnes out in front of Scott Meckes,
Eric Danyluk, Paul Frantz and Glen Heckman.
With ten laps in the books, Frantz attempted the pass on Danyluk for third. The
two tangled for a bit, but Rich Dimarco happened to be in the wrong place at the
wrong time and went around. He rejoined the tail end of the field.
On the restart, Meckes (Leighton, PA) after staring eighth jumped in front of
Barnes and drove off to victory. Meckes is also the current point leader in the
division. Rounding out the top five were Barnes, Paul Frantz, Eric Danyluk and
Brad Barbush.
Scott Meckes and Brad Barbush also took heat wins.
The exciting thrillers took to the asphalt with Marissa Nelmes leading the herd
for the 20-lap show. It took one lap for Steve Schultz to take advantage off of
turn four and move into the top slot. With two laps in the books, Dave Cascioli
had a solo spin in turn one. Only two laps later, Joe Kmetz got turned around
and collected Mike Skelly.
Shultz assumed command on the restart, but Bill Price and Ricky Ross were coming
in a hurry. Ross attempted to overtake second from Price on lap eight, but spun
out in the process. He restarted from the rear of the field.
After racing three wide on a number of occasions, Bill Price (Luzerne, PA)
overtook Schulz after the halfway point going into three. Three more cautions
slowed the event after that, but in the end, it was Price, who drove to his
second win of the season over Shultz, Kevin Makarewicz, Josh Oswald and Howie
Bott.
Bill Price and Rick Ross were heat race winners.
Scott Adams and Kevin Price shared the front row for the start of the 20-lap
four-cylinder thriller feature. Price appeared to have a fast car, but his day
ended early when he collided with the turn three fence. Another quick caution
flew when Travis Fisher spun in turn one with only one lap completed.
With Adams in command, Jamie Damon took charge with three circuits in the books.
At the halfway point is was still Damon out front over Harry Sager and Joe
Sherman. The yellow waved again on the following circuit when Adams and Kyle
Heckman collected on the front stretch.
Damon looked strong in the closing laps, but had to contend with Harry Sager and
Joe Sherman. While entering turn three on the final lap, Sager attempted the
last chance pass for the win. In doing so, contact was made and Sherman rocketed
to the outside for the win over Damon, Sager, Duane Garrison and Jen White. It
was Sherman’s first career victory.
Joe Sherman and Kevin Price won heat races.
Craig Rochelle led the Tri-State Locating Keystone Legend field to the drop of
the green in the 20-lap feature. With eleven laps in the books, Tim Tomson took
control of the event and never looked back, claiming the win. Previous to the
start of the feature, Tomson was only two points out of the lead in the series.
Following the win, he is the unofficial point leader.
Jason and Craig Rochelle won heat races.
The next regular Mountain Speedway show will be on Saturday, June 3rd. On the
card for the evening are the modifieds, late models, street stocks, and 4 cyl.
thrillers, plus 4C super modifieds. The thrillers are off for the weekend. For

June 2nd PennCan Slingshot Date Cancelled
The weather situation at PennCan has pushed back the proposed building of the
small track at this fine Susquehanna, Pa facility resulting in the cancellation
of the Southern/Northeastern Region Tour race for the Slingshot by Tobias
Series. PennCan has offered the Slingshots the use of the regular 3/8th
mile clay oval to be a part of the evening's festivities but the Slingshots were
designed and built for tracks in the 1/4 to 1/5th mile range. Gearing and
engine strain would be a problem with a speedway this size.
Reed Miller and his staff have been very cooperative in having the Slingshots be a part of the PennCan 2006 schedule. If the smaller size track does become a reality in the 2006 season the Briggs & Stratton Slingshot by Tobias Series would love to be a part of the welcomed addition.
With an average of 31 cars signing in for the Southern Region Tour races so far this season, the top 20 drivers in points were all looking for this date on the schedule. A later date will be determined if Speedway Entertainment gets the good news from Reed Miller that the smaller track was completed.
'Nitro" Nick Pecko and Marc "The Man" Daniels have been 2 drivers leading the way so far this season. Joltin' Jim Housworth has been racking up wins this season and was victorious in the Southern Region stop at the Kutztown Fairgrounds opener. Don't count out a trip to "The Can" for the 2006 season.
Upcoming tour races will find the Wyoming County International Speedway entertaining the Northwestern Region on the 4th of June. The Perry, NY 1/3rd mile asphalt oval should make for some high speed Slingshot action with Mike Mahaney leading the Northwestern Region after a weekend of wins at Starlite and Paradise Speedways. Briggs & Stratton Slingshot by Tobias info and schedule can be viewed at www.slingshotbytobias.com.

Geisler’s Luck Changes At PPMS
Cranberry, PA (May 24, 2006) The Geisler Racing team and 2005 National Dirt Late
Model Hall of Fame Inductee, Lynn Geisler finally broke a string of bad finishes
this past weekend at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway.
Lynn decided to bring out his ‘spec’ motored Rocket Chassis this past weekend at
PPMS with hopes of changing his luck at “Dirt’s Monster Half Mile”. The change
did just that as Lynn would have his best finish of the season at the
Pennsylvania speed plant with a second place run.
The finish moved Geisler up to 7th in the point standings at Pittsburgh’s PA
Motor Speedway trailing point leader Lou Bradich by 63 points. Lynn also leads
the Budweiser point standing at the Lernerville Speedway by 19 points over Ken
Schaltenbrand.
This weekend the team will be in action at the Lernerville Speedway on Friday as
well as Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway on Saturday.
Also with some exciting news is Lynn’s son, Travis Geisler. Travis, who is 25,
has been named temporary race engineer of Dale Jarrett's #88 on the Nextel Cup
Circuit. The Cranberry Township native served in that role Saturday at Lowes
Motor Speedway's Nextel Cup All Star Challenge, and will continue in that role
for the next three weeks. Jarrett's team was temporary restructured after a
four-week suspension of crew chief Richard "Slugger" Labbe, was upheld Thursday,
May 18th. Labbe will not return to racing until the Michigan race, June 18th.
Geisler said, "I wouldn't call it a promotion, but it's a great opportunity to
accelerate my learning curve. This is how I see myself making a living." Geisler,
a former driver in both the ARCA and Busch Circuits, was unable to secure a ride
last season and instead, decided to put his Vanderbilt Mechanical Engineering
degree to use this year. He signed with Robert Yates Racing team and works with
the ARCA team and also the No. 90 Busch team of Matt McCall, age 24 and Steven
Leicht, age 20 and now the Nextel Cup car. As an engineer, Geisler serves as a
consultant to the crew chief. He keeps up with all the changes and data on the
car, pools the information, and presents it to the crew chief. Geisler said, "I
have a chance to keep a hand in getting cars to go faster. It isn't behind a
wheel but it is the next best thing!" In addition to working with Jarrett's team
Geisler will also be working with Tommy Baldwin, crew chief of Elliot Sadler's
No. 38. Geisler added, "There is a lot of communication and sharing of
information. That's the benefit of working for a multi-car team."
Lynn Geisler and Geisler Racing would like to thank all of their sponsors and
supporters:

Paul Wilmoth Jr wins first of year at the Tyler County Speedway
By Bob Reed
Middlebourne, WV. 5/20/2006. Paul Wilmoth Jr , ”The Gambler”, driving the Gary
Midcap owned #B1 Rocket let all 25 laps at the Tyler County Speedway to capture
his first Midcap Land & Timber LM feature of the 2006 season.
Wilmoth told me that the car has not been right all year. He feels that they
have now solved their problems and that the car should be good from now on just
in time for some of the big shows coming up in the next weeks.
On the first attempt at a start 8th starting Gary Knollinger ended up on the
front end of the #68 of Pat Carlin with Richard Frazier making contact with them
and spinning. This negated polesitter Wilmoth’s good jump on outside polesitter
Steve Weigle. On the second start Wilmoth again got the jump and led Weigle, 3d
starting Doug Eaton, Donnie Dotson and Doug Baumburger on the first lap. Wilmoth
was increasing his lead by a big margin when Weigle and Eaton got together
coming off turn 2 on lap 3 which eliminated Weigle. At the same time Conley who
had been dropping back through the field from his 4th starting spot lost his air
cleaner and retired. As it turned out these two were the only cars who didn’t
complete the entire distance.
When the green again flew Wilmoth increased his lead every lap and when the
caution flew with 10 laps to go led 2d place Eaton by over ½ track. The yellow
closed up the field but didn’t bother Wilmoth as at the green he again jumped
out to a big lead and increased it every lap. But Eaton now had a battle on his
hands as both Baumberger and Dotson were all over him. First Baumberger and then
Dotson challenged him. Finally with less than five laps to go Dotson got a run
on the top around both Baumberger and Eaton and took 2d for his best finish of
the year.
At the checkered Wilmoth had a huge lead over Dotson who was closely followed by
Baumberger, D.J. Pellen who nipped Eaton for 5th on the last lap. Heats to
Wilmoth and Weigle.
Notes: Only 12 cars in the pits with 11 starting the feature. 9 cars were
running after 25 laps. Only 5 cautions slowed the action.
Wilmoth’s Monte Carlo LM is powered by a Chevrolet engine built by M&H Racing
Engines. Sponsors are NAPA Auto Parts of Clarksburg, M&H Racing Engines, Adkins
Timber Products, Midcap Trucking Co and Hoosier.
Notes: It heat race action Scott Irvin hit the 4th turn wall and did major
damage to his #3 Rocket and loaded up for the night.
In Litman Excavating SL action Gary Midcap won his 2d of the year and 2d in a
row by leading all 20 laps from the pole to win over Billy Brown, Dusty Hamrick,
M.T. Hall and Bucky Rine. Midcap hit the outside wall and lost his right side
spoil on the 2d lap but no one could take advantage as Brown, Hamrick and Hall
fought the entire distance for 2d. Each took a turn running in 2d and lost it to
one of the others. The final order wasn’t settled until the last lap with Brown
barely edging out Hamrick with Hall close behind.
Notes: Only 12 cars in the pits with 11 starting the feature. All 11 completed
the 20 laps.
Notes: In heat race action Eric Hudkins destroyed his car when he hit the front
straight wall and barrel rolled 4 or 5 times down the track. Eric was unhurt but
the car was taken off on two wreckers. His crew told me it was junk. Shock
towers and the frame were bent badly.
Darrin Glover bested a short field of 8 for his 2d win of the year and 2d ever
at the Tyler County Speedway in Sound Source AMRA modified action. Tom Sigler
was 2d followed by Dale Keplinger, Mark Deitch and Steve Higgins. Glover also
won the heat.

Santee and Smith are Back in Victory Lane at Mountain
St. Johns, Pa- The action was furious and the pace was fast Saturday night at
Mountain Speedway. Tim Santee visited victory lane for the first time in three
years during the 30-lap make-up modified feature from last week and Rusty Smith
visited victory lane in the second 30-lap modified feature. Paul Frantz took his
first street stock win of the season, as did Mike Rodriguez, Jr. in the late
models. Gary Slusser won the TRUX Exhibition event.
The field was set after last week’s modified feature rainout. Palmerton’s Tim
Santee started on the pole for the 30-lap Balliet’s Country Corners modified
showdown. Santee held the point over Andy Walko after the start, but Lou Strohl
was all over the rear end of Walko’s #21.
The first of two Ernie Dengler spins was with two laps on the board. Santee
continued out front when racing resumed. At the halfway point his lead was over
Strohl, Walko, Eddie Brunnhoelzl and Kory Rabenold.
The event slowed one more time with twenty-eight laps in the books when Walko
spun in turn three. With a two-lap shootout at stake, Santee continued out front
in the ProLog #X6 and took his first feature win in over three years over Strohl,
Rabenold, Brian Defebo and Ryan Russo.
“This is a great one after such a dry spell”. “The track was slick out there. I
really have to give credit to these guys who help me out with the car” said
Santee.
Eddie Brunnhoelzl and Alan Decker won heat races last week for the make-up
feature.
Andy Walko started from the pole in another exciting 30-lapper for the
modifieds. He shot out front on the initial start over Chris Whitenight, Marissa
Niederauer and Lou Strohl. A few circuits later, Niederauer disposed of
Whitenight and set her sights on the leader.
The caution waved with six laps in the books when Zane Zeiner had mechanical
problems with his machine. After heading pit side, Zeiner did not return to the
speedway.
With Walko still in command at halfway, Eddie Brunnhoelzl and Lou Strohl put the
pressure to the leader. At that point in the race, Niederauer held fourth and
Rusty Smith worked his way into the top five.
Lap after lap, Brunnhoelzl looked high and low for a line around Walko, but the
caution flew again with twenty-three laps in the books when Strohl was spun from
his third spot. It was after the next restart when things got interesting.
The green waved and Brunnhoelzl took a look outside of Walko. As the two dueled
side-by-side into turn three there was slight contact. Walko spun out of
contention, and Brunnhoelzl was sent to the rear for his part in the racing
incident. Being in the right place at the right time, Smith inherited the lead
while running third.
Smith continued out front over the remaining laps, enroot to his first victory
of the season over Whitenight, Tony Hanbury, John Markovic and Kory Rabenold. In
victory lane Oxford, NY racer noted that the speedway was a great facility, but
he wished there were more fans present to help cheer on the drivers. “Man, this
is a great win. I was just plain lucky today. Sometimes ya win them that way”,
noted Smith.
Eddie Brunnhoelzl, Chris Whitenight and Lou Strohl won heat races.
