Lynn Geisler Clinches 2006 Lernerville Speedway Points Championship
Cranberry, PA (August 20, 2006) The Geisler Racing team and 2005 National Dirt
Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee, Lynn Geisler finished second this past Friday
night to clinch his Sixth Lernerville Speedway Track Championship.
In a season that was dedicated to celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the
partnership between Geisler Racing and sponsor #1 Cochran Automotive, turned out
to be one for the record books as Lynn only trailed in the Lernerville point
standings for one week in 2006 and that was after the first week of competition.
Lynn finished second in the first week of the year behind Jared Miley. Lynn
followed that week up with another second and a fifth place finish the next two
weeks to get and hold the point lead for the rest of the 2006 season. Lynn had
two DNF’s this season at Lernerville but other than those two weeks, Lynn never
finished outside the top ten. Lynn also picked up career wins 105 and 106 at the
famed Pennsylvania oval.
This week will be the final point race at Lernerville Speedway and Lynn will
officially be introduced as the 2006 Lernerville Budweiser Point Champion. The
following night the team will be at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway in an attempt
to catch Lou Bradich and Michael Davis. With only a few weeks left in the season
at PPMS, Lynn sits third in points, 57 points behind point leader Bradich.
As the season draws to a close, don’t forget to grab your 25th Anniversary
T-Shirts, available to purchase at Lynn’s hauler at any event Lynn attends. All
shirts are $20 and are available in sizes Adult Small to Double Extra Large.

Rick Ross, Jr. Grabbed Mountain Thriller Win, then Mother Nature Stole the Show
St. Johns, PA- Although rain showers passed through the area earlier on
Saturday, Mountain Speedway drivers and workers were set to await the storm and
set out to dry the soggy 1/3rd mile oval. What seemed successful turned sour,
but not until after Rick Ross, Jr. notched his third thriller victory of the
season.
The first feature on the card was the thrillers for a 20-lap contest. Jeff Owler
took control of the event after starting on the pole, but Pat Verwys used the
outside groove to grab the top spot before a single lap was scored. With Verwys
still in command, division point leader, Bill Price, Jr. made contact with the
turn three wall, which brought out the caution. With quick pit crew work, Price
was able to rejoin the rear of the field.
Ricky Ross, Jr. lined up on the outside pole for the restart and blasted into
the lead when the green flag flew. Shortly after, Verwys was forced up high and
brushed the wall, which allowed a few drivers to take positions from the Mopar
driver.
The next caution flew on lap six when Chuck Deon and Josh Oswald tangled in turn
one. Oswald, who trails Price in the championship quest, headed pit side.
Another lap six yellow waved when Mike Moyer, Mark Paine and Duane Idem
collected in turns one and two. All three drivers retired from the event with
damage.
Wheeling around Owler for second, Dave Cascioli set his sights on Ross. As the
two swapped the lead on several occasions, Howie Bott moved into third, with
Kevin Makarewicz and Steve Shultz rounded out the top five.
Ross (Mountaintop, PA) managed to hold off Cascioli for his third win of his
rookie season.
Rick Ross, Jr. and Kevin Makarewicz were heat race winners
The street stocks took to the speedway for 20-laps of door-to-door action, with
Southampton, New York’s Jimmy White, Jr. on the pole. White lurched out front
from the onset with Ron Babula settling into second. After a strong run in the
heat race, Richie Dimarco was third and Gary VanOrden and Paul Frantz completed
the top five.
Frantz and Brad Barbush disposed of VanOrden for fourth and fifth and mounted a
charge on Dimarco. While coming out of turn four, Frantz and Dimarco touched.
Although he tried to gather it back up, the end result was Dimarco spinning on
the front stretch, which brought out the yellow.
Drizzle began falling, then heavier rains followed, which forced the management
at the speedway to call the remaining races. White led Babula, Frantz, Barbush
and Chip Wanamaker with four laps complete.
An official announcement will be forthcoming, as to when the remaining laps will
be run for the street stocks. Make up features will also be announced for the
late models and modifieds. Autograph/Camera night for all divisions is
rescheduled for Sunday, September 10th.
Heat race winners were Jimmy White, Jr. and Paul Frantz.
An official announcement will be forthcoming, as to when the remaining laps will
be run for the street stocks. Make-up features will also be announced for the
modifieds and late models. Autograph/Camera day has been rescheduled for all
divisions for Sunday, September 10th.
Chip Wanamaker, Marisa Niederauer and Chaz Surman won heat races in the
Balliet’s Country Corners modifieds and Beau Drobot and Joe Barbush, Jr. took
heat race honors for the late models. The late model and modified features were
rained out completely and will be rescheduled.
The next Mountain Speedway event is Saturday, August 26th. On the card for the
day are the late models, street stocks, thrillers and four cylinder thrillers.
All the action begins with heat racing action at 6 PM. The special modified
blowout of the season, the “Big Dog 100”, is set for the following day (Sunday,
August 27th). With $3000 to win on the line, many drivers will be at the
speedway with hopes of taking the win. Also on the schedule are the thrillers
and super pro trucks. For all up to date information at Mountain Speedway,

Hot Summer Nights
Help Prepare Modified Drivers for Mountain's 'Big Dog 100'
St. Johns, PA- Open wheel modified
drivers across the east coast are getting hyped up over the second annual $3000
to win 'Big Dog 100' modified summer spectacular, which is sponsored in part by
D&B Towing, National Auto Exchange, Balliet’s Country Corners and SVS of
Hazleton. The 100-lap spectacular (100 green flag laps) is set for Sunday,
August 27th at Mountain Speedway.
Along with the guaranteed check to the race winner, second place will receive
$1500, with the third place finisher receiving $1250. The rest of the purse is
nothing to sneeze at. Even though it is a points show (each driver registered
will receive 100 points), the track isn't charging a registration fee, which has
helped many drivers with making the decision to tour the 1/3rd mile St. Johns
oval.
In the first annual event, popular modified ace, Eric Beers scored the victory
and the hard earned cash. However, the second annual show should be even more
exciting and another history-making event.
All cars will qualify through heat and consi races, not time trials.
Also on the card for the evening are the exciting thrillers with a 30-lap,
100-point feature event, along with a special feature (30-lap minimum) for the
full size super pro trucks (ARTS trucks and Riverhead pro trucks are legal).
Come on out and enjoy this wheel-to-wheel, door-to-door modified contest of the
summer. Don't forget to bring the kids out for a chance to win one of two free
giveaways, which are courtesy of Mountain Speedway drivers, sponsors and staff.
With all this ground pounding modified action just around the corner, there’s
only one thing to say: "BEWARE OF THE DOGS"!
Track officials will let the dogs out for their first heat race at 5 PM.

Geisler Fights Ill Handling Car Against Outlaws
Cranberry, PA (August 9, 2006) The Geisler Racing team and 2005 National Dirt
Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee, Lynn Geisler took on the World of Outlaws Late
Model Series this week at the Lernerville Speedway.
Lynn’s night started off decently as he was the twentieth quickest qualifier on
the night. That would put Lynn and his #1 Cochran Automotive, Marshall Stamping,
Groff Tractor & Equipment Inc., Tri-State Hose & Supply, Bolea Oil, Rocket
Chassis GTO in the middle of heat race number four. The car did not seem like it
wanted to stick coming out of turn two the whole race and Lynn ended up
finishing sixth in his heat. Lynn used to B-Main as a practice session as he
knew he had a provisional to use for the A-Main. Lynn looked to have had the car
running a little better on the slick Lernerville surface after the B-Main.
After getting one of the two Lernerville provisionals for the highest point guys
to not make the show (Lynn is the Lernerville Budweiser Point leader), Lynn
would start the 50-Lap A-Main in the Twenty-fifth position. Lynn ran towards the
back all night with an ill handling racecar and pulled off before the checkered
flag fell to give him a Twenty-second place finish.
Lynn started the following night at PPMS with a little bit of bad luck. Lynn
blew a tire in his heat race and was regulated to start at the tail of the
eighteen car starting field for the 25-lap A-Main. Lynn certainly had one of the
fastest cars on the track as he made his way up to sixth when the checkered flag
fell.
Geisler still holds the point lead at the Lernerville Speedway by 36 points over
Sammy Stile. Lynn has climbed his way into third in points at PPMS and sits 52
points behind point leader Lou Bradich.
This upcoming week Lynn will again be at Lernerville on Friday and PPMS on
Saturday along with the 40-lap, $4,000 to win “Garin Memorial” on Sunday at PPMS.
Don’t forget that the Geisler Racing team have released their 25th Anniversary
T-Shirts and are available to purchase at Lynn’s hauler at any event Lynn
attends. All shirts are $20 and are available in sizes Adult Small to Double
Extra Large.

Geisler Leads Lernerville Points As World Of Outlaws Late Models Pay Local Visit
Cranberry, PA (July 31, 2006) The Geisler Racing team and 2005 National Dirt
Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee, Lynn Geisler continues to stay busy as point
battles take center stage at both Lernerville Speedway and Pittsburgh’s PA Motor
Speedway.
After a DNF, an eighth, and tenth place finishes the past few weeks at
Lernerville, Lynn still leads the Budweiser Point Standings. Sam Stile has
really picked up his program the last couple weeks and is now hot on the trail
of point leader Geisler. However, Geisler is ready to take on the “big boys” of
the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for this Friday’s “Summer Sizzler”
Showdown at the Sarver, PA oval.
"I am excited about this event," said Geisler. "We have a great group of
competitors who know the set up for 25-laps." He jokingly added, "If we had two
25-lappers we would definitely do terrific but we'll be guessing for the
50-lapper; hopefully we can figure it out!"
Lynn’s luck has been a little better at PPMS as he has moved up to third in the
season points standings with solid runs of fourth, second, sixteenth, and sixth
the past few races. Geisler trails point leader, Lou Bradich by 37 points and
second place point getter, Michael Davis by 25 points.

Day of Firsts for Jentile and Grocholski in NEETS “Cartoon-Duro” Wins
By: Gene Ostrowski
St. Johns, PA- Over one hundred well prepared cartoon themed enduro machines
headed to Mountain Speedway Sunday for the fifth race of the season in the ABC
Car Crushing NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series. Without a single red flag in either
of the 100-lap events, Joe “Millionaire” Jentile and Joe Grocholski grabbed the
spotlight.
With fifty-two Steel Seal four cylinders in the field, Bob Belcher led the pack
to the drop of the green. Duane Garrison immediately pounced from his third
starting spot and began to drive off from the field. In the meantime, Jimmy
White, Jr. and Matt Guida began to battle side-by-side for second.
By lap fifty, Joe Grocholski moved into second, but was more than a half lap
behind Garrison. White, Guida and Luke Colleran tailed Grocholski
It was only nine circuits later when Garrison put the third place car a lap down
and it appeared that the race was in the bag for the three time NEETS winner.
However, things changed dramatically with only six laps remaining. Garrison blew
a tire in turns three and four and slapped the outside wall. Although he was
able to continued after quick pit work, his hopes of victory were dashed.
Also extending his lead in the division standings, Grocholski (Freeland, PA)
came all the way after starting 50th and cruised to victory with a lap advantage
over White. Guida, Mike Ventura and Bob Darde completed the top five in the
first-ever red flag free NEETS four cylinder event.
From the pole position, enduro veteran Richard Petey took command of the
forty-seven cars that entered the Cascioli Roofing 6/8-cylinder division. Only
two laps passed and so was Petey, when Mark Spencer powered around him and into
the number one spot. With a three way battle up front; Joe Jentile took command
of the race three circuits later.
Jentile began working lapped traffic at a smooth and steady pace, but Petey
didn’t lay back. At times, Petey and Spencer looked to close in on the leader
when he was in lapped traffic. However, getting through the same traffic for the
second and third place drivers wasn’t an easy task.
By the halfway mark, Jentile opened up a straightaway lead over Petey. Spencer
continued in third, while Tim Pauch held fourth after starting 45th. Shawn
Gallucci held the fifth spot.
After racing side-by-side for at least ten laps, Jentile put the third place car
and also the current division point leader (Pauch) a lap down with sixty-six
laps on the counter. Only Petey remained on the same lap as Jentile.
Over the remaining circuits, Jentile (Bedminster, PA) cruised to the checkers
with his eleventh career NEETS win, and also the record in the NEETS series.
Petey came across the strip to finish second. Pauch, Spencer and Rob Pyle
rounded out the top five in the second red flag free race of the afternoon.
The NEETS charity of choice for the event was Checkered Dreams, a charity
developed to give seriously ill children a fun filled day at area race tracks.
One Dollar from each general admission will be donated to the cause.
The next ABC Car Crushing NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series event is the “Labor Day
Junkathon”, which is set for Monday, September 4th. On the card for the day are
the Cascioli Roofing 6/8 cylinders, along with the Steel Seal four cylinders and
NEETS Custom Classic TRUX. All the action will begin at 2 PM. Grandstand
admission pricing is $7 for ages seven and older. Children six and younger are
admitted for free. The NEETS charity of choice will be announced at a later
date. For all information regarding the NEETS series, please visit their website
at www.neetstour.net.

ANDY MICHAEL COLLECTS LEE ANDERSON RRS STREET STOCK
MEMORIAL
(E. Smethport, PA)
Current point leader, Andy Michael of Allegany, NY picked up one big win last
night at McKean County Raceway. The young driver would earn his fifteenth
win of the year at the area local tracks and his fourth of the season at
MCR in the Coca-Cola street stocks. Michael dominated the MCR the first
two weeks of the year by winning the first three events, but had been shut
out of victory lane since till last night and walked away with the $500 winner’s
check and a six foot trophy for the Lee Anderson Memorial on Maynard’s
Electric, Wayne Paving sponsored evening.
Other winners were, “Mr. Excitement” Jeremy Wonderling in the Maynard’s
Electric super stocks, Jim Meyers in the Advantage Rental sportsman, Kyle
Bedell in the R&M Home and Auto / Amsoil Mini Stocks and Barry Musheweck in
the Pure Stock/Thunder stock special.
The Maynard Electric Super Stocks were the first event of the evening and
the ageless Ron Baker was on the front row next to Scio Speed Society
native, Dan Dunham. Baker and his familiar #74 would beat Dunham in turn
one while Paul Grigsby and Jack Harrington slipped by Dunham. As the first
lap was completed the yellow was thrown for the #35 of John Lichy who had spun
in turn two. On the restart, Baker again bolted ahead of Grigsby and Rich
Michael slipped into fourth from his eighth place starting position as Dunham
was now in fifth. As Lap three was completed and the leaders were racing
out of turn two, the third place car of Harrington made contact with
second place running Grigsby spinning the black #24 into the infield resulting
in the second yellow of the event and both drivers going to tail of the
field. The field would re-align with Michael now sitting second and ninth
place starter “Mr. Excitement”, Jeremy Wonderling in third. Baker would
fend off the challenges of both Michael and Wonderling, Mr. Excitement would
make his move under Michael for second on lap seven and one lap later
would take over the top spot from Baker as last place starter and point
leader, Randy Hall had rocketed to third from last. Wonderling had started
to build on a lead over Baker and Hall. Hall would get his blue and black
#10 around Baker on lap fifteen as Michael would also get by Baker the very
next lap as the trio was running in very tight conditions. As the laps
clicked off, Wonderling was in another zip code lapping the back end of the
field as Hall and Michael sat comfortably in second and third. Baker was
fending off stiff challenges from Todd Rice and Tim Schram in the closing
laps as Rice was trying to make the high side work, but Baker would beat out
Rice and Schram for fourth, while Wonderling cruised to victory over Hall and
Michael. For Jeremy Wonderling, this was win number one on the year at MCR and
his second of the weekend as he won the night before at Black Rock
Speedway. Heat winners were: Rice, Jeff Cheesbro, and Lichy.
The Lee Anderson Memorial for the RRS Coca-Cola street stocks was up next
with Jeff Hellwig and Andy Michael pacing the twenty-six car field. Hellwig
would lead the opening lap over Michael and Derrick Frances. Michael would
get under Hellwig in turn three on the second lap and take over the top
position. Lance Palmer would move into the top five on lap seven as Michael
was still leading over Hellwig and Frances. The very next lap, Palmer would
move into fourth as Chris Austin was now fifth asboth drivers took
advantage of Paul Davies slipping in turn three and four. The first yellow
of the event came out on lap ten for Craig Rex who spun in the middle of turns
three and four and was collected by a competitor’s car. On the restart,
Hellwig get a nice start on Michael and looked like he would be able to make
pass, but Michael and his stout #17x would outgun Hellwig into turn three
and lead the lap. Austin would move his yellow #22A camaro into the fourth
position over Palmer on the next lap. The second yellow came out on turn
one for debris in turn one to slow the field down again. Michael again
sped away from Hellwig and the rest of the pack. On lap twenty, it was
noticeable that Michaelhad a left rear tire going flat as Hellwig, Frances
and Austin closed the gap. Twenty-first starting, Brett Smith had worked
his way into the fifth position on lap twenty three as the top five were all
within striking distance for the win, but it was Michael holding on over
Hellwig, Frances, Austin and Brett Smith rounded out the top five. Michael
was very elated in victory lane, not just for receiving the $500 RRS Lee
Anderson Memorial payday, but for collecting the very tall six foot plus
trophy. Heat winners for the thirty-four RRS Coca-Cola Street Stocks were:
Vic Vena, Michael, Hellwig, Frances and Brett Smith won the fourteen car B-main.
Twenty Advantage Rental Sportsman rolled onto the 1/3 mile oval with Gerry
Schimp and Darren Tarabori leading eighteen other open wheel warriors.
Tarabori shot to the front at the start. As the field finished the opening
lap, several cars got into the infield and into each other resulting with
the lone spin of point leader, Greg Oakes on the front stretch bringing out
the yellow. Tarabori again in his six cylinder machine distanced himself
over the field on the restart. Rich Michael moved his #17x sportsman into
fourth on the second lap from his tenth place starting spot and leading
feature winner, Randy Hall was now fifth from his eleventh place starting
position. As the field took the half-way markers from Tony VanPelt, Ryan
Learn spun his #69 in turn two to bring out the third yellow of the event.
Michael had just lost fourth to Hall and went pit side with an undisclosed
mechanical problem, eliminating his chances at winning. Tarabori rocketed
again to the lead and was looking like he was going to finally pick up his
first win of the year, but disaster struck on lap eighteen when the six
cylinder power plant went up in smoke in turn three. Jim Myers who had been
running second all race long would inherit the lead as Travis Asel, Hall,
John Woodward Jr. and Oakes rounded out the top five. On the restart, Myers
distanced himself from the #09 of Asel and Hall and as the field took the
white flag, tenth place running Kyle Scott rolled his yellow and #3jr machine in
turn one resulting in a red flag. Kyle was ok from the rollover but his night
ended one lap from the finish. Myers again sped away at the one lap dash
for the checkers and would pick up his first win of the year in the
Advantage Rental Sportsman division over Travis Asel, Hall Woodward Jr.
and Oakes who came back from the opening lap spin to collect fifth.
Unofficially, Oakes still has a ten point lead over Hall as these two drivers
appear to be heading to fantastic finish in the points with three point events
remaining. Heat winners for the Advantage Rental Sportsman were: Oakes, Hall and
Myers
The R&M Home and Auto Mini Stocks were next on the program.
Brad Ullman and Daniel Cunningham were leading the seventeen car
field to the start. Cunningham would lead the opening lap, but last week’s
winner and seventh place starter, Norm Varner charged into the lead on the
second lap. Kyle Bedell charged into third place from his eleventh place
starting spot on the third lap! One lap later Bedell would dispose of Cunningham
for second as Varner was trying to check out. A great battle was shaping
up for fourth between Dave Burdick and Craig Bedell. On lap eleven Craig
Bedell moved his
red Toyota truck into fourth over Burdick as Kyle Bedell was sitting a few car
lengths behind Varner. Lap twelve, saw disaster strike the leader as
Varner clipped the inside berm in turn one and rolled his machine over twice
bringing out the second red flag of the evening. Despite, rolling his car
over, Varner restarted his machine and drove it to the back stretch as he
received a loud applause from the fans to be able to drive his car away.
Kyle Bedell inherited the lead as Varner exited the event. On
the restart, Kyle Bedell sped in front of the field. Cunningham got a
little out of shape as he lost several spots on lap 12 and Craig Bedell
moved his Toyota truck into second behind his brother, while Steve Mowery
was now third and Burdick was still having a great run in fourth. Kyle
would hold off his brother and pick up his fourth win of the year and
unofficially, move ahead of his brother by one point as the new point
leader. Heat winners for the
R&M Home and Auto Mini Stocks were: Steve Mowery and Craig Bedell.
Barry Mushaweck of Hinsdale won the Pure Stock/Thunder Stock
special; he was followed by Tom Kronnenwetter Jr., Josh Keith, Casey Raught and
Pat Yohe.
Fans are reminded that this MCR will be back in action on Thursday night as the
United Late Model Series returns for the $5000 to win STEPHANIE ECKL
MEMORIAL. Many of the top drivers from throughout the northeast region are
expected to be on hand for this event. Winner of the Stephanie Eckl
Memorial will be a guaranteed starter for the 15th Annual ULMS Woodhull Late
Model Reunion on August 12 and also for the season ending ULMS Championship
on September 30 at MCR. A full card of Advantage Rental Sportsman, Maynard
Electric Super Stocks, R&M Home and Auto Mini Stocks and Coca-Cola street
stocks will also be on the Absolute Powder Coating, Kane Liquid Fuels
sponsored evening. Ticket prices for this Thursday night’s special will be

MACS FACTS:
The Series has had four events scheduled at Sharon including this year. Sharon’s
first MACS event was under Ed Skillman’s regime and was on July 16, 1997. Two
events thus far were actually presented with Todd Andrews and Chub Frank being
the winners. The show in 2001 was cancelled. The average MACS car count per
event at Sharon is 34, which is commendable since Sharon doesn’t have a regular
Late Model division as a part of their Saturday night programs.
Current MACS average car count for the season is 48.
As of July 29, the Series has had six different winners in seven events. Jeremy
Miller (2), Mike Balzano, Scott Bloomquist, Jason Covert, Scott Haus, Gary
Stuhler each claiming one each.
· 183 different drivers have competed in the first seven MACS events this
season.
· Ernie Shelton’s USA 100TM is coming at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway,
Saturday, August 19. One driver could win $11,000 from the $65,000 total purse.
This year’s addition is a one-day event. Past Champions of the “100” that have
already indicated they will be coming are Denny Chamberlain, Mike Balzano, and
Chuck Harper.

Anything With Wheels Fuels Kapish’s Desire to Compete
St. Johns, PA- As a youngster Jeansville, PA’s Tom Kapish, Jr. (TJ) grew up
around Dodge trucks and when he grew older began racing in mud drags and “Tuff
Truck” racing. Tuff Truck racing is basically an obstacle course with jumps and
other obstacles, similar to a motocross/enduro track, along with short drags
that contain jumps. They are typically run on the monster truck courses.
Although he enjoyed the competition, TJ left the series after five years. “I
felt that the rules starting getting into a money game and the whole aspect of
what Tuff Truck racing was originated from became completely changed around and
too over competitive, so I decided to get out of it”, he noted.
He has been four wheeling since he was sixteen years of age and became involved
with Paragon Adventure Park in Hazleton, PA since their inception. Paragon
Adventure Park is an ATV and off-road vehicle riding ground that consists of
150,000 acres. TJ has worked as a guide, and in doing so he has guiding off-road
vehicles through the park and through their toughest courses.
Moving to a different type of competition, Kapish hand built a rock crawling
buggy in ‘01 and began to compete on the rock crawling circuit, where he
continued in competitions until last year. “As I experienced before, rock
crawling became a big money sport and required at least a dozen or more of good
sponsors to even survive, so I have put that aside for now, and use my buggy for
trail riding. Since hanging up my rock crawling shoes I got picked up as a
spotter by another team will be doing that this year”, he said. TJ continued
“One day a friend of mine talked me into trying the NEETS enduros at Mountain
Speedway for something to do during the off season, so I figured why not”? Since
then Kapish hasn’t won any enduros, but has learned a whole new aspect of
competition, and something that he has seemed to pick up very naturally.
For his first two-circle track races TJ competed in the NEETS Holiday Sock Car
Series at Mountain Speedway in St. Johns, PA. Amazingly, it was the first car
that he has ever driven, as he has always owned Dodge trucks! The first of two
four cylinders he purchased to run was a Chevy Cavalier, which cost a mere $100.
After it’s short-lived journey, he then purchased a Dodge Shadow for $50, which
TJ ran in the January “Beaters with Heaters” event in 2005. Unfortunately he
wrecked it, but admitted that had a ball doing in doing so. His next choice of
vehicle moved him up to the 6/8 cylinder enduro division. The car of choice was
a Chrysler New Yorker with a $100 price tag on it from a local farmer. He has
been racing it and tweaking his driving skills since then. As many enduro cars
are decorated, Kapish’s ride seems to really take notice to the fans, as “Oscar
the Grouch” rides along on the roof of the car. When asked about Oscar, TJ
responded by saying “I initially wanted to put something on the car so I can be
spotted on the track, so I came up with the big Garbage can. My girlfriend took
it one step further with the idea of putting Oscar the Grouch in the can, so my
Mother found me the 3 ½ foot stuffed Oscar. I painted the car green and it’s
been on the car since the very beginning. We have found that it is a favorite
car among the kids at the track and since I have signed autographs and had kid
get in my car for pictures. Needless to say I’ll be keeping the Oscar theme.”
Only 85 point out of finishing in the tenth spot in the ’05 NEETS point
standings, with a best finish of 8th, Kapish has minute goals for the remainder
of this season. “My goal for this season is to make the top ten in points for
the year. I think it’s an achievable goal, but I didn’t take off to a good
start. In the first race I got taken out in a wreck early, which bent up my
lower control arm. I would love to win a race this year but also think there are
some well-tuned cars out there with veteran drivers that won’t let that happen.
No matter what, I just go out to have a good time, try to run hard, but still
think it’s all for fun”, he noted.
As a 30-year old competitive guy would have it, TJ has lured many of his friends
into the sport of racing in circles. He continued by saying “I have currently
been getting more and more people involved in the enduros and we have four
4-cylinder drivers, and also six 8-cylinder drivers in our group”.
When asked about the NEETS series in general, TJ went on by saying “As for the
series goes, I think Billy (Bartley) is doing a great thing with the parties and
practice, he does a lot. As far as the rules are concerned, I have actually seen
it change since last season. I am all for the safety rules, but also think with
certain cage rules and tire stagger, I could possibly see it getting out of hand
and not be a budget/fun racing series. I can only see the tire stagger rule
making fast cars faster, and the cage rule compensating for the high speeds. In
my opinion, as long as Billy keeps the series from getting out of hand and keeps
it as it is, it will be fun and enjoyable for many years to come”.
Although enduro racing is what helped fuel the fire to TJ’s short track racing
habit, he plans to tour the 1/3rd mile at Mountain Speedway in one of the
regular Saturday night divisions, the thrillers. Thriller cars are similar to
the full size enduros, but with added safety measures, track tires and more
flexibility with car set up. If everything pans out, Kapish is planning on
running a thriller race or two this season, once he gets his car within the
division guidelines.
As many racers’ families are involved in the sport, TJ’s is no different. His
parents Tom and Mary Ann have been to the track and have watched every race that
he has run so far. He’s also looking forward to the September 30th NEETS “Fem-Duro”,
which is basically a female/male tag-team event. “My Girlfriend for 4 years has
been my passenger in the enduros from the start. This year I am definitely
pressuring her to run the Fem-Duro”, he said.
Excited, Kapish closed by saying “I have a blast racing and we have all been
planning to race other tracks this year, and also to get involved with the
thriller division at Mountain. I don’t necessarily have a proudest moment in the
sport, but seem to get a little better every race, and I’m proud of that”.

Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS)
Indiana, PA
July 3, 2006
By: Jeff Geesey and Jason Shank
For Immediate Release:
Bloomquist Notches MACS’ “Firecracker 75” at
Portsmouth Raceway Park
Mooresburg, Tennessee’s Scott Bloomquist notched his second career Mid-Atlantic
Championship Series victory claiming the $10,000 top prize in the “Firecracker
75” at the Coleman families Portsmouth Raceway Park, Portsmouth, OH.
In victory lane Bloomquist cited, “Well, we were real patient and I really
didn’t want to push the car too hard early but the longer our cars seem to run
the better they get. You know, we got a real good race car. Vic Hill is doing
our engines which run really smooth. They have plenty of power and it has just
been a great night. We come up here just to run this one race this weekend…just
want to keep the light bill paid”, concluded Bloomquist.
Rick “The Big Swede” Aukland and Davey “The Juice” Johnson paced the strong
field of 24 cars to green with eventual winner, Scott Bloomquist slotted in
eleventh. Johnson shot into the lead followed by Aukland; R.J. Conley; defending
MACS Champion, Mike Balzano; and Jeremy Miller.
The pace was torrid with drivers running from top to bottom on the three grove
wide surface. Conley inched past Aukland for second on lap 7 as Earl Pearson,
Jr. simultaneously stole fifth from Miller. The top five could have been covered
by a blanket on several occasions as the action was fast and furious the entire
way around the 3/8 high-banked speed plant.
Conley was sizing Johnson up as the leader caught the tail of the field on lap
27. Conley used an outstanding move to gain the top spot from Johnson while the
duo diced their way through the field. After gaining the top spot, Conley then
had the lapped cars of his own to deal with as Johnson was trying to regain that
lead utilizing the same tactics that had just cost him the point.
Conley successfully and skillfully worked his way through the traffic while
holding off Johnson’s advances. The first of four caution appeared on lap 34
regrouping the field. Conley remained on point for the double file restart
flanked by Johnson, Aukland, Balzano, and Pearson.
Conley fired the field at the cone with Johnson blazing down into turn on as the
leaders raced side-by-side through turn two. Johnson nudged ahead going down the
back chute and into turn three. Conley was blazing around the outside but his
momentum wasn’t sufficient to carry him back into the lead as Johnson led lap 35
while Bloomquist muscled fifth away from Pearson.
Johnson continued to hold off Conley as Bloomquist nailed down fourth on lap 38
relegating Balzano to fifth. Johnson and Conley were all over each other as
Bloomquist steadily reeled in Aukland for third. By lap 42 Bloomquist dispatched
Aukland to fourth as the leaders were so engaged they weren’t aware they were
going to be joined.
Conley slung it high while Johnson patrolled low, lap after lap while Bloomquist
was tooling around the middle. With 25 laps remaining Bloomquist made his move
and slid Conley to third and was carefully watching every move the leader,
Johnson, was making.
Johnson saw Bloomquist nose a couple of times and knew he had an all out fight
to keep the top spot. Johnson calculated his every turn of the wheel trying the
thwart Bloomquist’s challenges for the lead. On lap 61 Bloomquist had
sufficiently sized up the leader snaring the top spot as he blazed out of turn
four.
Lapped traffic could again play a role as Bloomquist blazing pace caught the
tail of the field on lap 63. Johnson tried everything he had in his vast
repertoire to catch Bloomquist but with no success the rest of the way to the
checkers. Following Bloomquist and Johnson were Jeff Taylor, from fifteenth;
Pearson; and Conley.
The next tier of five included Aukland; Robbie Blair, from twenty-first; Balzano;
Jeremy Miller; and current point leader Jason Covert, from thirteenth.

Pauch, Wanat, Grocholski and Sager Share Glory in NEETS “Firecracker Smacker”
Wins
St. Johns, PA- The ABC Car Crushing NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series fourth points
race of the ’06 season, tagged the “Firecracker Smacker” took place Sunday at
Mountain Speedway. Despite computer problems, which were apparently caused by a
passing lightening storm, all of the scheduled enduros were completed. The fans
witnessed Tim Pauch pick up his second 6/8 cylinder win of the season, along
with Shaun Wanat’s first victory in the trux division. Both Joe Grocholski and
Harry Sager grabbed the wins in the split four cylinder enduro races.
First on the card was the Cascioli Roofing 6/8-cylinder division for a 100-lap
enduro. Robin Schewire led the 50-car field to the green from the pole, but “Dr.
Destruction” Howie Bott grabbed the top spot before one lap was completed.
Richard Petey and Daryl DeBetta followed for second and third.
With four laps in the books, Petey overtook the lead and DeBetta came to second.
Only seven laps later, DeBetta overtook Petey for the lead, but contact with a
lapped machine slowed the leader, which allowed Petey to close back in and
regain the position.
At the halfway point Petey continued to lead over Bott, Terry Nansteel. Tim
Pauch and Tom Moses, but TJ Kapish and Bob Wink began to make a bid for the top
five.
The red flag flew on lap sixty-two when DeBetta slammed head on into the pit
entrance guide rail. Although his car appeared to be totaled, DeBetta climbed
from the machine under his own power. Under the same red, Bott headed pit side
with problems on his machine and was not able to continue.
With ten laps remaining, Petey continued out front, but Pauch closed in quickly.
On the following lap, out of turn two, Bob Kulik spun right in front of the
leaders. Pauch took the low line and Petey drove up high. Petey got caught up in
the incident for a split second and Pauch came out in command.
Pauch remained smooth and flawless over the remaining laps and picked up his
second win of the season over Petey, Kapish & Smith (tied for third), Mark Paine
and Wink.
Next the NEETS Custom Classic TRUX took to the speedway for a 50-lap enduro.
Richard Petey started from the pole, but before one lap was completed, Frank
Katona found himself in command. Katona stayed out in front ahead of James
Badalato and Shaun Wanat.
Roughly six laps in, Wanat overtook Badalato and set his sights on Katona. On
lap thirteen, Wanat raced by Katona and into the top spot. Badalato followed for
second and Rob “the kid” McCormick, Bobby “Peaseman” Pease and John Cozza began
to close in on second.
Cozza moved into second near lap thirty-five, but didn’t have enough laps to
reel in the leader. After running a red flag free race, Wanat grabbed his first
TRUX victory over Cozza, Pease, Badalato and McCormick.
Thunderstorms rolled in after the race and NEETS promoter, Billy Bartley decided
to wait on the weather. Bartley had a quick meeting with the Steel Seal four
cylinder drivers and the outcome was two 50-car field’s, split into two 25-car
fields, in which each ran 50-lap enduros.
The first of the two 50-lappers showcased Bob Wohlegemuth and Bob Darde leading
laps early on, but when it was all said and done, Joe Grocholski grabbed the
lead with eighteen laps in the books and cruised off to victory over Darde, Tim
Pauch, Mike Racho and Brad Vollmoeller.
During the second 50-lapper the fans in the stands witnessed Harry Sager grab
the top spot from pole sitter Bob Haeger on the start. “High groove” Harry Sager
never looked back and dominated the event over Shaun Wanat, Duane Garrison, John
Bittoni and Richie Haegele.
The NEETS charity of choice for the event was the Woman’s Resource Center. One
Dollar from each general admission will be donated to the cause.
The next ABC Car Crushing NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series event is the “Cartoon-Duro”,
which is set for Sunday, July 30th. On the card for the day are the Cascioli
Roofing 6/8 cylinders, along with the Steel Seal four cylinders. All drivers are
urged to decorate their vehicles in cartoon themes for the running of the
100-lap “Sponge Bob 100” and the “Plankton 100” events. All the action will
begin at 2 PM. Grandstand admission pricing is $7 for ages seven and older.
Children six and younger are admitted for free. The NEETS charity of choice is
the Checkered Dreams charity. For all information regarding the NEETS series,

Matt Hubbard Becomes the Youngest NASCAR Late Model Winner at Old
Dominion Speedway
Seaford Delaware has been in the media this week for flooding but the Delaware
Destroyer made the headlines Saturday night, Matt became the youngest NASCAR
late model winner in Old Dominion Speedways history. Holding off Frank Deiny Jr.
for the 100 lap victory.
Matt time trialed 4th, then marched to the front in the 10 lap dash, to score
his 3rd dash win in a row. From the pole, Matt held off Deiny’s charge in the
middle of the race, and cruised to his first career NASCAR late model victory.
Driving the famed Jim Dean prepared #99 Dodge is a opportunity of a lifetime.
Jim was instrumental in the careers of Nextel Cup driver Denny Hamlin, Busch
Series driver Mark McFarland and Matt’s teammate Hooters Pro Cup rookie of the
year Woody Howard. “I give Matt an “A”, he listens to everything we tell him,
this is my greatest accomplishment as a car owner, taking a 16 year old dirt
rookie and beating the best in the business in only his 8th start is big, real
big,” quotes Dean.
Matt started his racing career in karting, moved to Modlite’s under the
supervision of Al White, made the jump to the late model division at Virginia
Motor Speedway, under the guidance of Kenny Pettyjohn, he won the Victory Lap
$25,000 shootout in his 3rd start at the age of 14. After a year of learning on
the road with the MACS series and World of Outlaws in 2005, he followed the
NASCAR youth movement and won the try out with Dean, taking over the seat
formally filled by Denny Hamlin.
“I can only thank my family, Jim Dean and Rick Townsend for everything this
year. My dad and my godfather Jeff Banning of Trinity Transport have supported
me all the way. Working at Townsend Race Cars this summer has really helped, but
Jim always gives me a great car and is the best spotter/therapist in racing,”
quotes the excited Hubbard.
Opening in 1952 and hosting NASCAR late model racing since 1979, Old Dominion
Speedway is a 3/8 mile asphalt speedway located in Manassas, Virginia. For more

Saturday, July 8th modifieds 50-lap $2k to win feature event, late models,
street stocks, 4 cyl. thrillers
Rodriguez, Geist, Moyer and Wink Sparkle in Mountain Wins
St. Johns, PA-Plenty of fans packed in the stands Saturday for door-to-door
racing and Mountain Speedway’s annual fireworks display. When it was all said
and done, second-generation driver, Mike Rodriguez, Jr. took the win in the late
models. Todd Geist led flag to flag to claim the street stock checkers. Mike
Moyer, Jr. was awarded his first thriller victory and Bob Wink notch his first
four-cylinder thriller feature win.
Beau Drobot led the late model field to the drop of the green flag for the
30-lap feature, but before a single lap was scored, young Mike Rodriguez, Jr.
grabbed the top spot as the two raced out of turn two. Joe Hoffman slipped past
Drobot for second on the following circuit.
With ten laps in the books, Rodriguez had a sizable lead over Hoffman, but
lapped traffic allowed Hoffman to close the gap. Drobot still pursued the top
two, but they have already distanced themselves from the rest of the field. Joe
Brown was running fourth just before the halfway point, but he got out of shape
out of turn four, which allowed Jim Brown and Mike Coll to take advantage and
enter the top five.
For the second straight week, the late model feature was run caution free.
Rodriguez stayed out front over the remaining laps and cruised to his second win
of the season over Hoffman, Drobot, Jim Brown and Mike Coll.
“This car was awesome tonight”, noted the Drums, PA native in victory lane. “I
owe it all to my dad (Mike Rodriguez, Sr.). We knew it would be good, but it was
fast and handled great”.
Mike Rodriguez, Jr. and Beau Drobot won heat races.
Todd “Hollywood” Geist and Rich Dimarco shared the front row for the 20-lap
street stock feature. With a great jump on the start, Geist powered away from
the field. Meanwhile, Chip Wanamaker grabbed second from Dimarco and Gary
VanOrden followed for third.
Geist was still out front at the halfway point, but he had to contend with
Wanamaker, who was applying the pressure from all sides. At this point, the
current division point leader, Scott Meckes, was running third with Eric Danyluk
and Paul Frantz rounding out the top five.
The caution flew on lap nine when problems struck Jimmy White, Jr. on the front
stretch. White’s damaged machine also collected Norm Barnes. Barnes was able to
rejoin the field, but White was not.
Wanamaker attempted to pass Geist (Walnutport, PA) for the lead on many
occasions, but also had to worry about leaving the door open for Meckes. As the
trio came out of turn four, Geist was first to see the checkers, followed by
Wanamaker, Meckes, Danyluk and Brad Barbush. It was Geist’s second win of the
season.
Todd Geist, Brad Barbush and Chip Wanamaker claimed the checkers in the heat
races.
Marissa Nelmes and Donny Oliver shared the front two spots for the start of the
20-lap thriller feature. Nelmes held the point, but only two laps clicked off
before Mike Skelly grabbed the top spot on the restart after a quick caution
involving Pat Verwys.
Three laps later, Bill Price drove under Skelly and into the lead. Skelly,
however was not about to give in easily and the two raged a fender-rubbing
contest over the next few circuits. The close racing allowed Mike Moyer, Jr. and
Josh Oswald to join in the mix for the top spot.
The fans were on their feet as Skelly and Price came out of turn four for the
white flag, as it was evident that neither driver wanted to settle for second.
In the end, Skelly was first to the checkers, but was given a two-position
penalty for rough riding. In only his fourth career start, Mike Moyer, Jr.
(Freeland, PA) crossed the stripe in the second spot and was awarded his first
feature win.
Mike Moyer, Jr. and Ricky Ross, Jr. won heat races.
Kyle Heckman paced the four-cylinder thriller field to the drop of the green
flag for the 20-lap feature. After a great start, Jim Sykes grabbed the top
spot, but before a single lap was scored, Heckman fought back to the lead.
The first and only caution flew on lap three when, with a little help, Gary
Fisher went around on the front stretch. This bunched the field back up and the
race restarted with “Maddawg” Bob Wink in the second spot. Wink got a great
start and overtook Heckman for the lead.
Wink continued out front at the mid race point over Heckman, Kevin Price, Joe
Sherman and Bill Hallstead. However, only one lap later, Sherman overtook Price
for third, and then got around Heckman for second.
Wink held off a fierce charge from Sherman and went on to collect his very first
four-cylinder thriller victory over Sherman, Duane Garrison, Heckman and Joe
Grocholski.
As the rest of the top ten crossed the stripe, Gary Fisher made contact with
Fluffy White. Fluffy finished in the tenth spot, but her car went up and over on
it’s roof. Although a little shaken up, White exited the car under her own power
and plans to compete (with the same car) in Sunday’s NEETS event.
The next Mountain Speedway events should be very competitive with the
double-points, mid-season championships taking place for the four cylinder
thrillers, street stocks and late models. Along with all of the mid season hype,
the Balliet’s Country Corners modifieds will be running a 50-lap $2k to win
feature event, where 22- cars will take the green flag. Second place will pay
$1K and the minimum for taking the green flag in the feature is $200. All the
action will begin with heat races starting at 6 PM. For all information

Strapped In June 2006

SUPER LATE MODELS STORY
June 27, 2006
Delaware's Own Rick Whaley Picks Up Win at Wayne County, NC
June 23, 2006 Wayne County Speedway, NC.....Capturing the poll position was
Delaware’s pride Ricky Whaley. As the green flag fell Whaley claimed the number
one hot seat and dared anyone to get it. However Benson’s Roger Lucas and
Franklinton’s “Candyman” Derick Francis were in the same mind frame of taking
home the checkered flag.
On the first lap into turn four half the field joined together to make that turn , well it didn’t happen we had cars all over the track. Thanks to the great driving skills of the Late Model drivers and the hardwork of track officials we had it cleaned up quickly and went back to green flag racing with only one of the 30 laps complete and most of the cars back on the track.
The top three escaped the pile up. On the restart Whaley once again seized the number one spot and took control of the lead. There was a party going on down the line with positions swapping every lap. Autryville’s Jeffery Tyndall and Princeton’s Junior Pierce maneuvered their way up to the front just in time to make it in the top five for the night.
As the checkered flag fell it was Ricky Whaley that captured his first
ever victory at WCS. Lucas held on strong for his second place win. Tyndall and
Pierce held on for the third and fourth place wins. Francis rounded out the top
five wins.

Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS)
Indiana, PA
June 24, 2006
By: Jeff Geesey and Jason Shank
For Immediate Release:
Covert Garners Thrilling Career First MACS Victory in “MACS Attack III” at
Hesston
Nineteen year veteran, Jason Covert, York Haven, PA, thrilled the near capacity
crowd garnering his first career Mid-Atlantic Championship victory during the
“MACS Attack III” at Gina and Ryan Lynn’s, Hesston Speedway, Hesston, PA.,
collecting $5,000 for his toils. In victory lane an excited Covert commented,
“I’ve always dreamt about winning a big race and it just worked out tonight.”
“This win is for my dad and my mom who didn’t make it; he always said he wanted
me to be a racecar driver. We finally won a big race and it’s sanctioned, that’s
a pretty big deal to me so this win is for him,” concluded the jubilant winner.
Denny Chamberlain and Bob Close paced the brimming 26 car field for the 50-lap A
Main presented by Jrene Inc., Trucking and Excavating. Eventual winner Covert
resided in seventh on the grid.
Close shot out of the chalks taking command over Davey Johnson, David Scott, Ron
Davies, and Jeremy Miller by the completion of the first circuit. Close led the
first four circuits over Johnson, Miller who slotted into third on the second
revolution, Scott, and Covert who joined the top quintet.
Johnson had sized up Close and by lap 5 he shot past the leader taking command
of the top spot. By lap 6, Miller dove underneath Close into second. Miller eyed
the leader Johnson’s every move.
On lap 12, Miller slung past Johnson coming out of turn four grabbing the lead
while Covert edged Close to fourth. Johnson wanted nothing of Miller’s advances
and fought back regaining the top spot on lap 13 as the top five were nip and
tuck for position.
Johnson caught the tail of the field on the next circuit with Miller looking to
gain an advantage as the duo worked through lapped traffic. Miller worked the
inside rail while Johnson rode the middle groove.
On lap 14, Miller slightly miscalculated and clipped an inside tire barrier in
turn four breaking his bumper which abruptly ended his fine run bringing out the
first of five cautions. At that juncture, Johnson was still on point over
Covert, who inherited second; Close; Scott and Jim Bernheisel, from twelfth.
Johnson and Covert paced the double-file restart to the cone and blazed the
field back to life. Johnson again flexed his muscle and pushed out into the lead
over Covert, Scott, Close and defending Series Champion, Mike Balzano from
eighth.
On lap 21, Johnson continued to lead over Covert, as Bernheisel vaulted to
third, over Scott, and Close, with Balzano now riding just outside of the top
five. The next caution flew one revolution later for Todd Andrews as he was
relegated pit side with overheating problems.
Johnson quickly gathered the field behind him for the last double-file restart
of the event with Covert again sharing the front row over Bernheisel, Scott and
Close. Johnson grabbed the lead once again and led to the next caution on lap 25
for Dan Stone, while fourth place running David Scott retired quickly spewing
oil from his mount.
Johnson held the top spot on the restart over Covert, Bernheisel, Balzano and
Steve Everhart, from fourteenth.
The action was tremendous throughout the field with three and four wide racing
the norm for position. With 30 laps in the books Johnson was still in command of
Covert, Bernheisel, Balzano, and Close, now again in a top five ride.
With ten laps to go, Johnson caught the tail of the field only for the second
time during the event, as Covert was looking for a slightest edge over the
leader. Every move Johnson made Covert matched in convincing style. On lap 47
Covert, while in lapped traffic, made his move darting in front of the leader
using the lapped traffic to his full advantage. The huge crowd erupted with two
laps remaining Covert was now leading. Johnson was not going to go quietly as he
dogged the leader tenaciously trying to regain the top spot, and the duo raced
each other clean and hard to the checkers.
At the checkers, Covert claimed the biggest win of his career over Johnson,
Bernheisel, Balzano, and Ricky Elliott, from seventeenth. The next flight of
five included 2004 MACS Champion Robbie Blair, from ninth; Close; current MACS
points leader Gary Stuhler, from twenty-third; Everhart; and Alex Ferree, from
thirteenth.

broadcasting entertainment, with another tremendous show. The program offers a
full plate this week, there's no doubt.

Geisler Picks Up Career Win Number 105 At Lernerville
Cranberry, PA (June 21, 2006) The Geisler Racing team and 2005 National Dirt
Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee, Lynn Geisler won his 105th career feature
event at the Lernerville Speedway this past week by a mere .078 seconds over
MACS Series regular, Dutch Davies.
Lynn started the 25-lap feature event in the third position and had moved under
the #1W of Bob Wearing Jr. on lap 8 to take the lead. Geisler pulled away from
the field until he hit heavy lapped traffic around lap 18. Wearing and third
place running Alex Ferree, were closing quick as Lynn maneuvered through lapped
traffic. Wearing pushed up the racetrack in turn two and went over the banking
to put Ferree in the second spot. The following lap saw Ferree do the same thing
but Ferree was able to keep his momentum and not lose any ground on Geisler.
Ferree was inching closer and closer to Geisler until a lap 22 caution. Lynn
chose to restart the race on the outside of the front row as the leader gets to
choose where he wants to start. Geisler was able to get the jump on Ferree and
pull away on the restart. Unfortunately another caution would fly on lap 24 to
bring the field back together. Geisler chose to start on the outside again but
was overtaken by Ferree on the restart. Fortunately for Geisler, another caution
flew and Geisler was able to get one more shot at Ferree. Ferree chose the
outside this time and jumped the cushion on the restart to give Geisler the
lead. Ferree had a tire going down and fell back as Dutch Davies moved into the
2nd spot after Ferree’s hard luck. Geisler led the pack down the backstretch but
going into turn 3, Dutch had the momentum on the bottom and briefly took the
lead in the middle of the corner and coming off of the corner. But Geisler,
being on the outside, had the momentum coming off of the corner and took the
checkered flag by .078 seconds over the MACS regular.
The next night the team made their way to Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway. After
having to change transmissions after practice, Lynn picked up the heat win. The
win put Lynn in the 10th starting position in the feature. By lap 8 of the
25-lap feature Lynn was battling Ben Miley for 3rd. The two made contact in
turns 1 & 2 but were unscathed and Lynn took the position from Miley. Geisler
was super fast getting into the corner’s at “Dirt’s Monster Half Mile” and was
closing in on second place running Al Atallah quickly. Geisler got under the 02
car and made the pass to get into second position on lap 13 but as Lynn made the
pass, the caution flag was waving. The caution put Lynn back to 3rd but on the
restart Lynn was able to put his #1 Cochran Automotive, Marshall Stamping, Groff
Tractor & Equipment Inc., Tri-State Hose & Supply, Bolea Oil, Rocket Chassis GTO
under Atallah to complete the pass, this time for good. Race leader, Michael
Davis was able to pull away from the field on the restart and go on to win the
event with Geisler finishing second.
On Tuesday night, the team was back at PPMS for the first of two “Topless
Tuesday” shows. Lynn started 4th in the 35-lap feature event and was in the lead
by lap 12. Geisler pulled away from the field and was in total control of the
race until lapped traffic came into play. Lou Bradich was hot on his trails and
by far the fastest car on the racetrack. Geisler held the lead until lap 34 when
Bradich was able to get under Lynn to take the lead in lapped traffic. Bradich
went on to win the $2000 to win event with Geisler in 2nd.
Geisler Racing and Lynn Geisler would like to announce that their 25th
Anniversary T-Shirts have arrived and are available to purchase at Lynn’s hauler
at any event Lynn attends. Arrangements are also being made to order your shirts
online. All shirts are $20 and are available in sizes Adult Small to Double
Extra Large.
Lynn continues to lead the “Budweiser” point standings at Lernerville Speedway
by 31 points over Ken Schaltenbrand. With Lynn’s second place run on Saturday,
Lynn moved from 7th to 5th in the point standings at PPMS now only 76 points out
of 1st.
This week the team will be at Lernerville Speedway for the Earl and David Bauman
Memorial Race, which is sanctioned by the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series
(MACS). The event will feature a 35-Lap, $5000 to win A-Main for the Late Models
and a $6000 to win 35-Lap A-Main for the All-Stars Sprint Series. The team will
also be at PPMS on Saturday for a regular points event.

News Release

CNN Presents Explores American Summertime Obsession in Dirt Track Warriors
Documentary Spotlights Smalltown Sport With 30 Million Fans
Before NASCAR, high-speed race car drivers raced on dirt - and they still do.
Dirt track automobile racing - an estimated billion dollar a year business with
30 million fans - is "the biggest sport you've never heard of," according to the
new documentary CNN Presents: Dirt Track Warriors, premiering on Saturday, July
1, at 8 p.m., with a replay at 11 p.m. Dirt Track Warriors re-airs on Sunday,
July 2, at 2 a.m., 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. All times Eastern.
Dirt Track Warriors is narrated by CNN anchor Miles O'Brien and features
exclusive access to the personal and professional lives of the drivers of
lightweight, high-horsepower racing machines called "dirt late model" cars. The
documentary follows racing "bad boy" Scott Bloomquist, Chub "Chubzilla" Frank
and teenager Josh "Kid Rocket" Richards through a season of high-speed,
dirt-throwing racing, climaxing with dirt late model's biggest prize, the World
100 at Eldora Speedway in rural Ohio.
The sport boasts 800 dirt tracks in 49 states. As Tim Lee, editor of Dirt Late
Model magazine, explains: "Saturday night dirt track racing is like the
summertime equivalent of Friday night football - especially in smaller towns.
It's a center of community."
Renowned NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, now the owner of Eldora Speedway, sometimes
surprises spectators by racing there on his days off.
"I make my living driving on pavement every week, but I really think that dirt
racing is where my passion has been," Stewart says. "I've always been more
interested in dirt racing than pavement."
For Dirt Track Warriors, senior producer Ted Rubenstein interviewed dirt track's
"kings" throughout the 2005 racing season and offers viewers a look at the
grueling life on the dirt track circuit through heartland America, which
sometimes puts great strain on the personal lives of the drivers and their
families. With the eyes of the racing world on the World 100, viewers learn
whether 17-year-old phenom Josh "Kid Rocket" Richards will qualify for his first
World 100 competition; whether Scott Bloomquist, celebrating his 25th year in
dirt track racing will win his fourth championship at Eldora; or, whether "Chubzilla"
can repeat his 2004 first-place success.
CNN Presents: Dirt Track Warriors was produced by Ted Rubenstein, with field
producing by Emily Probst and Jamie Hutton. Mark Nelson is vice president and
senior executive producer of CNN Productions. A CNN audio podcast with Dirt
Track Warriors producer Ted Rubenstein is available by linking to:

Burd was the Center of Attention at Mountain Speedway's "Shaunfest"
St. Johns, PA- A national holiday, along with the extreme heat might have kept
many folks away from the "Shaunfest" benefit Sunday at Mountain Speedway, but
everyone involved had a great time as Monsters of Rock, YMI, Emily's Toybox and
Farmers Daughter rocked the house all afternoon and into the evening.
Along for the event was thriller driver, Shaun Burd, who was seriously burned in
a work related accident about six weeks ago. Still recovering from third degree
burns, Shaun spent most of the afternoon under a tent, as he tried to keep cool.
However, Burd walked up to the 48' stage late in the day to thank all of his
racing friends and family who have given him support, along with those involved
with Shaunfest. "I'm at a loss for words", Burd said in a trembling voice. "I
thought everyone had forgotten about me and then all of you do this. Along with
all of the bands and the sound people for sitting in the hot sun all day, I want
to thank everyone involved for everything they've done and can't wait to rub
fenders with my buddies in the thriller division again." Laughing, Burd
continued, "when you feel me on your back bumper, that will be my way of saying
thanks!"
Before the last band took the stage, Mountain Speedway promoter, Joe Callavini,
presented Burd with the money raised from admissions, a Chinese auction and
50/50 drawing, which exceeded one thousand dollars. A few weeks prior, Burd
received over three hundred dollars from The NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series ($1
from each general admission from the event). In addition to the funds raised, he
and his girlfriend, Kareen, received baby items and gift cards from some of
those in attendance at the benefit concert.
Even with the light turnout, the show in itself was a success, as everyone
seemed to have a great time. With all the effort and hard work by everyone
involved, Burd left the track smiling from ear to ear. Past the due date and one
day past Father's Day, Shaun and Kareen will be headed to the hospital for the
birth of their first child.

Top Northeast Focus drivers Ginny Quinonez
and Stephanie Stevens will be competing with in the ATQMRA event at Wall
Township Speedway on June 24. This will be the first time the ATQMRA and the
Northeast Focus midgets will run the same track on the same night. This will be
the second time Ginny will be competing with the TQs. Stephanie will be making
her first race in a TQ piloting the Howard Boss GSXR number 29. The ATQMRA looks
to have a strong field of cars for the show after having 19 cars at the last
show at Wall. We expect upward of 25 cars for this show. The new Spitfire cars
seem to have generated a good deal of interest in TQ midget racing.
The Quarter Midgets of America QMA Grand Nationals week begins on this weekend
as well. With 559 cars pre registered for this event Wall Township should have a
solid open wheel crowd to take in the racing action Saturday night. Putting on a
show with the USAC Focus midgets in front of the Quarter Midget crowd has
certainly generated excitement.
See you at the Races
Blu Metz

Mahaney,Hicks Dominate Oswego
The Briggs & Stratton Slingshot by Tobias dual regional tour settled in at The
New Oswego Dirt Track Friday for a spirited 20 lap main event.Polesitter Rich
LaMont kept the USA1 of Steve Hicks from getting to the first turn first and led
laps 1 and 2 of the 20 lap main.Third starting Mike Mahaney got a lucky break as
Hicks drifited high in turn 3 allowing the Mahaney Team car # 33 to quickly
overtake Hicks and set his sights on leader LaMont. The 12K of LaMont was strong
but a slight bobble coming off of turn 2 of this newly built 1/9th mile dirt
oval gave Mahaney all the room he needed to take the lead and ride it out for
the win.A top 3 spot fell by the wayside for LaMont as his right rear shock
collar broke and he was sent pitward with 1 lap remaining..With the checker
waving it was Mike Mahaney taking the Northeastern/Northwestern Dual Tour
win.Mahaney has won 3 in a row in the NY Slingshot by Tobias tour.Hicks came
back strong in the last 5 laps and was working on becoming a feature win
contender but the race went non-stop and the laps ran out for Steve.Running a
steady bottom groove was the open roofed 99J of Jim Pollard with LaMont still
finishing fourth and Jim Mahaney garnering 5th after oil pressure problems
sidelined the # 30 Slingshot.Track conditions for an opening night were
extremely radical. The hot lap session gave the speedway a raceable surface, but
pre-feature watering gave the teams some early lap problems.Once the 1/2 sign
was displayed the surface came to the racers and it was a multi-grooved speedway
at the checkered.
On Saturday it was the Briggs & Stratton Slingshot by Tobias Dual Tour Flyin' 15
at Oswego with the 40 HP racers going all out on the abbreviated asphalt 3/8th
mile track.Due to the many divisions of racing and the quality of the program
Steve Gioia wanted to give his fans, the Slingshots ran 1- 8 lap qualifier with
Doylestown,PA's Steve Hicks setting some blistering lap times in the Hicks' USA1
racer. The Oswego faithfuls were really seeing some great driving and passing
with Hicks winning the heat coming from 4th.Mike Mahaney and Jim Mahaney
finished 2nd and 3rd after starting 5th and sixth. All eyes were now on the #301
Mahaney owned Slingshot with Ford Focus winner Ryan Smith finishing 4th and
looking to move up some spots come feature time.Hicks pulled the #1 pill so
there was no inversion and Hicks started from the pole for the Flyin' 15.At the
drop of the green flag the USA1 was off and running with Mike Mahaney,Jim
Mahaney and Melissa Garno in her Tony Stewart look-alike 20K working the field
quite admirably.Garno passed the Mahaney's in turn 2 and rocketed to second with
her sights set on Hicks. While these 3 were having their own private battle,Mike
Tasillo in the family owned 76,Rich LaMont hopping into the 301 after Ryan Smith
had Ford Focus Midget problems and had to stay focused for that feature so he
turned the ride over to LaMont and Jim Pollard were trying to move into the top
5.Nicole Mosley who never saw a track this size was doing her best to stay
within reach of the front 7 had to head pitward after fuel pressure problems
beset the colorful 8N.With the crossed flags out,Hicks had a whole straightaway
lead and Mike Mahaney found the handle on the tricky turn 3 entry. He never
lifted and shot around Garno to recapture second but was watching Hicks pull
even farther away as this was happening. At the 5 to go sign Jim Pollard passed
Mike Tasillo midway down the backstretch and the finishing spots were set for
the run to the checker.Steve Hicks and the Cenco USA1 gets the winners accolades
with Mike Mahaney grabbing second.Melissa Garno drove the race of her life to
see the checker in third spot.Trying to make the best of a rough weekend Jim
Mahaney notched fourth with the maroon 99J of Jim Pollard rounding out the top
5.Tasillo,LaMont and Mosely will also garner some Slingshot by Tobias Tour
Points.
The Briggs & Stratton Slingshot by Tobias Tour head to Wilson's Motorsports
Track for a National Points event on the 24th and to the fine New York facility
run by Gary Palmer,Accord Speedway for a makeup event that will pay double the
purse on Friday June,23rd.

HALL WINS AGAIN AT MCR !!!!
(E. Smethport, PA)
After a week off in racing, McKean County Raceway came roaring back to life with
90 cars on hand for the R&R Transmissions of Allegany NY night. The R&M Home and
Auto / AMSOIL mini stocks were running for extra cash and a special performance
by the pure stocks and thunder stock division. The crowd got to witness
all new first-time winners except for Randy Hall who collected his fourth
Advantage Rental sportsman modified win of the year.
The Coca-Cola street stocks kicked off the evenings R&R Transmissions
feature event and Ken Shelley and Derrick Francis set the pace for the
twenty-four car field. The opening lap was wild as Mike Asel charged from
his fifth place starting spot to lead lap one. On lap four, Francis
regained second position over Shelley as eighth place starter, Justin Tatlow
jumped into third as the #44 of Doug Crawford spun in turn one and was
clobbered by John Feely bringing out the first yellow of the event. Asel
again sped away from the field as Tatlow disposed of Francis for second and
point leader, Andy Michael had worked his way from tenth to fifth on lap six
and then to fourth one lap later before the #129 of Jason Schoonmaker spun
in turn one and collected several cars including new comer, Matt Palmer, Joe
White and Matt Olson.
Asel again took Tony VanPelt’s green flag and lead till lap nine as Tatlow
moved under Asel in turn three for the lead as past winner, Chris Austin jumped
into third. Asel would beat Tatlow to the line to lead lap ten as Austin was in
hot pursuit with Shelley and Francis having a fine run in fifth. A great
battle was in place for fourth as it swapped drivers for three different laps
between Shelly, Francis and Michael on lap 13. Lap fourteen will see the
yellow #22 of Austin leap in front of Asel for second
as Aaron Peters now moved into fifth behind Michael. Lap 15 would see
trouble for the #40 of Francis as he slowed down the front stretch ending
his fine night. All this was going on and Tatlow was starting to pull away by a
few car lengths and on lap 17 the #17x of Michael would develop a right
rear flat tire but he could continue to the end, but relinquishing his fourth
position to Peters. But it was Tatlow collecting his first Coca-Cola
street stock win of the year ahead of Austin, Asel, Peters and Rich Hemphill
rounding out the top five.
The R&M Home and Auto / AMSOIL mini stocks were up next. The four cylinder class
has offered excellent racing all year without a repeat winner and tonight they
were going for extra money. Scott Fuller and the most recent winner of the
division, Dan Cunningham were all set for the 20 lap event. Fuller
beat Cunningham to turn one and lead the first few laps. Opening night
winner, Norm Varner would moved into second on lap 2, but on lap three it
got wild as Kyle Bedell jumped from fourth to the lead as Fuller slid to
second and Craig Bedell would grab third from his sixth position the lap
before. Craig Bedell would moved into second on lap six behind his brother
Kyle with Varner, Fuller and Steve Mowery rounding out the top five. On lap
twelve, the fifth place runner of Mowery would go pitside giving the spot
to Robert Hauber as the #17x of John Feely spun in turn three to bring out the
caution flag. The restart had everyone bunched up chasing the Bedell
brothers and on lap 16 contact was made between the second place car of Craig
Bedell and Varner resulting in the Toyota #7 truck being spun around at the exit
of turn two. Varner would receive the black flag for the spin and Bedell would
go to the rear of the field for the yellow ending his shot at beating his
brother. The last four laps went without incident but Craig Bedell charged
back thru the field to salvage a six. His brother Kyle would pick up his
first MCR win of the year over Fuller, Hauber, Brad Ullman and Cunningham.
The Advantage Rental Sportsman division was up next and all eyes were on the
#10 of Randy Hall. The top gun from Olean, NY has been on a tear at MCR in
2006 with three sportsman wins but tonight he would have to start eleventh
in the field. Darren Tarabori would pace the field and jump into the lead
just as he did a few weeks ago. Ryan Learn charged from his fifth place
starting spot to second on the opening lap as Rich Michael was in third on
lap two from his ninth starting spot and Hall was already fourth! Lap nine
would see Hall jump into second as Learn would slide to fourth behind Rich
Michael. Lap twelve would see the black #10 of Hall get under the yellow #6
of Tarabori and drive by in turns three and four to take the lead over as
Scott Pangrazio was now in the top five. A trio of yellows on lap fourteen,
sixteen and seventeen kept the field tight to Hall, but there was no
catching the current point leader as he raced to victory for the fourth time
this year in the Advantage Rental Sportsman division over Tarabori, who had
a great performance to finish second, Michael was third, Scott Pangrazio and
Greg Oakes were the top five.
Eleven combined pure stock and thunder stocks made their maiden visit to MCR for
the evening. The pure stocks cars were representing their division at Allegany
Mountain Speedway and the thunder stock drivers were representing their division
at the “Hill Raceway”. Thunder stock Jesse Tarr and the pure
stock of Pat Yohe raced off into turn one and it was Yohe and Mark Higley in his
#5 thunder stock following. Pure stock driver, Tom Kronenwetter moved into
second on lap two as the top three broke away from the rest of the field.
Lap four saw the #6B of Larry Billotte charge from sixth to third with
Ronnie Gross in tow. Lap six would see a three wide battle for fifth
between Doyle Harris, Josh Keith and Doyle Harris Jr. The younger Harris
would come out on top of that battle. The battle was for first as Yohe and
Kronenwetter would run one two to the end with Billotte finishing third over
Doyle Harris Jr. and his father in fifth.
The Maynard Electric super stocks rounded out the R&R Transmissions night of
activities. Again, all eyes were on Randy Hall seeing if he could win race
back to back wins for the third week in a row between the sportsman and
super stock class. Hall had his work cut out for him as he would start
outside row number six. Todd Hanson and Joe Watson were the front row
starters and Hanson immediately jumped into the lead as Bruce Miller quickly
followed. Quickly it was obvious the two fastest cars were driven by the
Miller’s. Bruce and his father Dave were moving and moving fast as Bruce
went to the point on lap three and his father was already in the top five
when the first yellow was thrown for third place car and defending track
champion, TJ Shaw who had spun and Jeff Cheesebro spun to avoid the car of
Shaw. A lap five yellow in turn four for Rich Michael and Jeremy Wonderling
kept the field close to Bruce Miller. Tim Schram had moved into second,
with the elder Miller in third, Hanson had slipped to fourth just ahead of
Hall. On the restart, Hanson got back by Dave Miller as did Hall, but the
#40 of Miller was strong and charged back to third on lap nine as his son
was checking out in the yellow #80. John Lichy had worked his way to fourth
on lap 10 from his fifthteenth starting spot and Dave Miller moved around
Tim Schram and was looking to chase his son down for the lead. Lap 17 would
see Schram go back to second as Hall was sitting fifth and current RRS point
leader, Todd Rice sitting in sixth. The yellow #80 of Bruce Miller was in
another zipcode by the time the checkers flew as he won convincingly over Schram,
Dave Miller, Lichy and Hall.
Fans are reminded that MCR will be back in action this THURSDAY night with the
first of two “THURSDAY NIGHT THUNDER” programs featuring the return of the
dirt LATE MODELS for the first time since opening night as the United Late
Model Series returns for the $2000 to win Hazen Jordan Memorial on Johnson

Zane Zeiner Takes Martinelli Motorsports to Victory at Mountain Speedway
St. Johns, PA- Sunny skies and warm temperatures set the stage for CAD Visers
fan night Saturday at Mountain Speedway. Fans witnessed classic side-by-side
racing all night long and saw Zane Zeiner claim the win in the modified feature.
Paul Frantz took the street stock main, while Danny Cascioli grabbed the
checkers in the Ed Makarewicz memorial thriller feature. Again, Harry Sager
visited victory lane in the four cylinder thrillers.
After winning the heat race earlier in the evening, Zane Zeiner started from the
pole in the Balliet’s Country Corners 30-lap modified feature. With a great jump
on the start, Zeiner powered out front, ahead of Matt Higgins, Tim Santee and
Chaz Serman.
The yellow flag waved when Alan Decker spun in turn three. Trying to avoid the
spin, Donny Hartzell nailed the outside retaining wall, therefore ending his
night. Serman had moved to second before the restart, but when the green flew
this time, Ryan Russo ducked underneath Serman for second and chased after
Zeiner.
Zeiner checked out from Russo, Eddie Brunnhoelzl, Chris Whitenight and Serman by
the half waypoint, but the caution flew on lap twenty-six when Russo spun in
turn four while running second.
Again, Zeiner had a fantastic start and distanced himself from second. He led
green to checker for the victory, and is also the eighth different modified
winner out of the eight events held for the division this season.
“It feels great to get this win for Joe and Pam Martinelli”, noted Zeiner in
victory lane. “We figured we’d bring this car out tonight and shake it down
before the RoC show tomorrow. I teamed up with Martinelli Motorsports this
season, and it feels great to get them in victory lane”.
Zane Zeiner and Matt Higgins won heat races.
The thrillers hit the stage for the “Duct Tape 50” Ed Makarewicz 50-lap thriller
memorial event, which was held in memory of the late Ed Makarewicz, Sr. A dear
friend to many at the speedway, Ed was the “Duct Tape” that helped keep the Mac
Brother Racing team from Hazelton, PA focused on success.
Marissa Nelmes started from the pole but lost the top spot on the start when Joe
Kmetz took command before a single lap was scored. With only eight circuits
complete, Ricky Ross took control of the event over Kmetz. Stuck in the outside
lane, Kmetz was over taken by Josh Oswald, Danny Cascioli and Chip Wanamaker
with ten laps in the books.
The second of three short cautions flew when Pat Verwys was spun in turn three.
With a great restart, Cascioli grabbed the top spot and set sail. Ross dropped
back to second, while Bill Price worked the outside of Oswald for third. After
racing side-by-side for a number of laps, Price took third.
The final caution flew with twenty-seven laps in the books when Jeff Searfoss
got into Howie Bott as the two were racing for fifth out of turn four. Bott
spun, but picked up the tail end of the field.
Out front, Cascioli cruised to the win in dominating fashion over Ross, Price,
Oswald and Searfoss. Cascioli also picked up the hard charger trophy, along with
plenty of sponsored money laps from the event. Steve Shultz grabbed the trophy
for the lead lap car with the slowest, but fast lap. All the drivers in the top
five received plaques, which were courtesy of Billy Bartley.
Danny Cascioli, Richard Petey and Mike Moyer won heat races. Kevin Makarewicz
won the consi.
Rich Dimarco jumped out to the early lead in the 20-lap street stock feature
from the pole position. With only five laps in the books, the caution flew when
Jimmy White was spun from the second position. When green flag racing resumed,
Dimarco continued out front.
On the sixth circuit, Paul Frantz overtook Dimarco and distanced himself from
the rest of the field. The battle however, was from second on back, between
Dimarco, Norman Barnes and Barry Callavini. Scott Meckes, the current division
point leader also joined the mix.
While racing for third with fifteen laps in the books, Meckes took a look
underneath Dimarco as the two entered the turn. Due to contact, both drivers
spun and had to join the rear of the field.
Over the remaining circuits Frantz (Scheidys, PA) seemed untouchable, as he
cruised to his second street stock victory of the season over Barnes, Callavini,
Brad Kline and Ron Babula.
Heat winners were Rich Dimarco, Chip Wanamaker and Eric Danyluk.
Scott Adams led the four cylinder thrillers to the stripe for the start of the
20-lap feature. Travis Fisher overtook Adams for the lead with only one lap in
the books. Meanwhile, two and three wide racing from second on back took place.
With eight laps down and Fisher in command, Joe Sherman moved to second, ahead
of “high side” Harry Sager, Coltin Judge and Adams.
Working the outside lane, Sager made a bid for the lead and grabbed it eleven
laps in. Sherman followed into second, with Fisher dropping to third.
Sager (Hanover Twp, PA) went on to claim his forth win of the season in the
division. Sherman, Fisher, Judge and Duane Garrison completed the top five.
Joe Sherman and Harry Sager won hest races.
The next Mountain Speedway racing event is Saturday, June 24th. On the card for
the evening are the modifieds, late models, thrillers, four cylinder thrillers
and the Tri-State Locating keystone legends. The street stocks have the night
off. All the action begins with heat racing at 6 PM. For point standings, along

SPEEDWEEK IS HERE
York Haven, PA....The 16th Annual Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Pennsylvania Sprint Car
Speedweek is here. The popular series that will include nine Sprint Car races in
ten days begins on Saturday June 24 and runs through Monday July 3.
Over the past 15 years Pennsylvania Speedweek has hosted 98 races at 11
different Speedways. This year a new track will join the fold, and a former
track will return. Sprint Car ace Fred Rahmer will be looking to expand upon his
amazing Speedweek stats.
Rahmer has won 27 races during Speedweek competition, and is a nine time
Speedweek champion. He will be looking to once again collect the lion's share of
the nearly quarter million dollars in prize money posted for the week.
Rahmer's closest challengers, Lance Dewease and Greg Hodnett will be looking to
add to their own stats during the week. Each driver has won 14 Speedweek
features. Dewease owns three Speedweek crowns, while Hodnett has one. Other
champions include Keith Kauffman and Steve Smith with one each.
This year the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek will kick
off at the Lincoln Speedway, near Hanover, with the Kevin Gobrecht Memorial
Race. The 30 lap feature on the June 24 program will pay $5000 to win.
Thundercars are also a part of the program.
Sunday June 25 Speedweek will make it's first ever visit to the Bedford
Fairgrounds in Bedford, PA. The 30 lap, $5000 to win feature will be the first
ever at Bedford, but will also be the 100th event in Speedweek history. Street
Stocks will also be on the program. Monday June 26 is an offdate for Speedweek,
but will also be the raindate for the Bedford show.
Action resumes on Tuesday June 27 at the Grandview Speedway, near Bechtlesville.
Again the feature will pay $5000 to win, but this time it's for a 35 lap
feature. The ARDC "wingless" Midgets will also be a part of the program.
The Hagerstown Speedway (just south of the Mason-Dixon line) will return to the
Speedweek fold on Wednesday June 28. Hagerstown offers up a Sprint Car only show
that also pays $5000 to win a 30 lap feature event. Hagerstown was last a part
of Speedweek in 1996.
Speedweek moves to the Susquehanna Speedway Park, near Newberrytown, on Thursday
June 29. Yet another 30 lap feature with $5000 to the winner awaits fans and
drivers at Susky. The Xtreme Stock Cars and Women on Wheels join in the fun.
Historic Williams Grove Speedway, near Mechanicsburg, offers up what has long
been the "Crown Jewel" of Speedweek on Friday June 30. The 30 lap Mitch Smith
Memorial Race will pay $10000 to the winner. A Fireworks display will round out
the program which is also Adoption Night.
Speedweek moves on to the Port Royal Speedway on Saturday July 1. The Port
offers up a 30 lap feature with $5000 to the winner. The Prostocks are a part of
the program
Sunday July 2, Speedweek moves to Selinsgrove for the running of the Jan
Opperman Memorial Race. Another 30 lap feature with $5000 to the winner.
Prostocks again take part in the program.
The Cindy Rowe Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek will conclude on Monday evening
July 3 back where it started. Lincoln speedway will wrap up Speedweek with a 30
lap feature that will offer the second $10000 first place payoff of the week.
Thundercars again take part in the program.

Geisler Racing Has Strong Weekend, Holds Point Lead.
Cranberry, PA (June 13, 2006) The Geisler Racing team and 2005 National Dirt
Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee, Lynn Geisler had solid runs this weekend at
Lernerville Speedway and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
#1 Cochran Automotive and Geisler Racing were the main focus this past Friday at
Lernerville Speedway as it was #1 Cochran Night and Fan Appreciation Night at
the speedway. The team and #1 Cochran celebrated their 25th Anniversary together
in style with a sixth place finish in the feature event in front of a packed
house. Lynn battled a tight racecar throughout the 25-lap feature and was
running as high as 3rd in the event until the car pushed up the racetrack and
over the turn three cushion. Geisler fell back to the 11th position at the
halfway point. Lynn was able to fight off his ill handling #1 Cochran
Automotive, Marshall Stamping, Groff Tractor & Equipment Inc., Tri-State Hose &
Supply, Bolea Oil, Rocket Chassis Grand Prix to salvage a 6th place finish and
hold onto his 19-point edge in the season standings over Kenny Schaltenbrand.
The following night the team again headed to PPMS for their weekly show. The
night started off good as Lynn moved up to the second spot by the 8th lap. Lynn
was closing quickly on race leader Lou Bradich but lost control of the car and
spun to bring out the caution. Lynn restarted the event at the tail of the field
and quickly started picking off cars. By the time the checkered flag fell, Lynn
had made his way back up to 3rd in the running order.
This week the team will be at Lernerville Speedway on WEDNESDAY June, 14th for
the Dirt Modified Super Dirt Series event that also features a $1500 to win Late
Model event. The team will then head back to Lernerville on Friday and PPMS on
Saturday.
Geisler racing would also like to congratulate Lynn’s son, Travis Geisler, as
last Tuesday Travis was moved to the Race Engineer position on the #38 M&M’s
Racing NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Team for the remainder of the season. Raymond
Fox III, who was the crew chief on the Busch car, moved to the M&M’s Cup team
also. “I am happy to be able to continue working with Raymond and look forward
to being with crew chief Tommy Baldwin and the rest of the M&M’s team” said
Geisler. “It is pretty amazing to me how much I have been exposed to in the six
months that I have worked at Robert Yates Racing. To be moved to the #38 team
was certainly a surprise to me and although I will really miss working with our
development drivers in the Busch Series, this is a great opportunity for me to
continue the learning process.”

Rookie, Chris Whitenight “Graduates” with First Mountain Modified Win
St. Johns, PA- After area high school graduations Friday night, Saturday night
racing resumed at Mountain Speedway, where modified rookie, Chris Whitenight
took the win after graduating with honors the day prior from Berwick Area High
School. Barry Gommer notched his first late model victory of the season, as did
Eric Danyluk in the street stocks. Bill Price, Jr. grabbed his third thriller
victory of the year. Matt Barndt and Matt Evans claimed NY Mini Cup victories.
Ernie Dengler led the Balliet’s Country Corners modified field to the drop of
the green flag for the 30-lap feature. Without a single lap scored, Dengler was
spun from contention in turn four. Trouble struck Tim Santee two laps later when
his car came to a stop in turn four from an apparent tie rod problem.
When the race resumed it was Chris Whitenight in command. Lou Strohl, Ryan
Russo, Ryan Preece, Eddie Brunnhoelzl and Marisa Niederauer all battled for the
top five spots. At the half waypoint, Whitenight continued over Strohl, but the
action began to heat up for the number one spot.
With Strohl in second, Russo looked high and low for an opportunity around
Mahoning Speedway’s most winningest modified driver. Meanwhile, Strohl followed
Whitenight closely, waiting for a mistake that never happened.
Whitenight (Berwick, PA), a rookie driver in the modified ranks went on to claim
the checkers in only his fourth modified start. Strohl crossed
the line second, ahead of Russo, Preece and Brunnhoelzl. With his fifth place
finish, Brunnhoelzl is now tied for the points lead.
“This is great”, noted Whitenight in victory lane. “This feels so good and these
cars are a ton of fun to drive. I can’t thank my dad enough (Dave Whitenight)
for the opportunity, and Mike Adams and Chuck Schartzer for all their help with
the car this season”.
Marissa Niederauer and Eddie Brunnhoelzl won heat races.
Beau Drobot led the first three laps of the 25-lap late model feature after
starting first on the grid. However, Mike Rodriguez Jr took command on lap four,
when trouble struck the leaders. Drobot got out of shape in turn four and
collected Rodriguez.
The race restarted and Mike Coll assumed command until the caution slowed the
event another two times on the same lap. After the restart, Coll jumped in front
with Joe Barbush and Jim Brown in tow. However, trouble struck the Barbush
machine when he and Brown collected in turn four. Both drivers were unable to
continue. That moved Joey McMurtrie up to second.
McMurtrie tried Coll high and low for the top spot, but Rodriguez had worked his
way to third and applied the pressure for second. After nearly completing the
pass, as if something went astray, sparks flew from Rodriguez’s machine and he
got into McMurtrie. This allowed Barry Gommer to move into second.
Two laps after the restart, Gommer powered by Coll for first. Gommer
(Shickshinny, PA) went on to take the win over Coll, Joe Brown, Joe Barretta and
Dave Macmomder. It was Gommer’s first late model victory at the speedway since
’04.
Joe Barbush and Barry Gommer grabbed heat race wins
Gary VanOrden and Rich Dimarco paced the street stock field to the green for an
action packed 20-lap feature. VanOrden lurched out front, but Dimarco powered to
the outside. The two made contact in turn four as they raced side-by-side. The
end result was a badly damaged Dimarco machine. Many cars in the field took
evasive action to miss the incident, but Scott Meckes, Norm Barnes, Paul Frantz
and Ron Babula all got a piece of the action. Dimarco’s day was done.
Jimmy White, Jr. was in command over John Stonier and Scott Meckes when the race
restarted. Meckes looked underneath Stonier and White in turn three. They
touched and Stonier went around. Todd Geist was also collected.
Jennifer Kutz took control of the event with three laps in the books. On the
restart, Eric Danyluk charged around Kutz. Over the next few laps, Wanamaker
moved into second with Jim Yamelski in third. Yamelski however headed pit side
when Wanamaker got out of shape on lap fourteen and collected him.
Over the remaining laps it was Danyluk out front. Brad Barbush nipped Wanamaker
for second. Barnes and Kutz completed the top five.
Eric Danyluk, Todd Barbush and Glenn Heckman were heat race winners.
Marissa Nelmes grabbed the lead from pole sitter, Joe Kmetz after the first lap
in the 20-lap thriller feature. Two laps later, Mike Skelly took the top spot
away from Nelmes.
The first of four cautions flew when Ricky Ross spun in turn four. When green
flag racing resumed Nelmes got out of shape in turn two and with a little help,
spun around. Two laps after the restart, Kevin Makarewicz motored around Skelly
and into the lead.
Makarewicz held a sizeable lead over Bill Price, Jr, Skelly, Pat Verwys and Josh
Oswald at the midway point, but that all ended when Kmetz brought out the yellow
for a turn two spin. When the race restarted, Makarewicz jumped up high on the
single file start. Price dove down low and took command with Skelly following
the same move and into second.
The three battled back and forth over the remaining laps, but in the end, it was
Price (Luzerne, PA), claiming his third victory of the season over Skelly,
Makarewicz, Oswald and Steve Shultz.
Kevin Makarewicz and Richard Petey won heat races.
The next Mountain Speedway Saturday event is CAD Visers fan night on June 17th.
The first 100 paying fans through the grandstand gate will receive a
Pennsylvania lottery ticket courtesy of the Lititz, PA civil/CAD consulting
firm. On the card for the day are the modifieds, street stocks, 4 cyl. thrillers
and the full size thrillers with a special 50-lap memorial race in memory of Ed
“Duct Tape” Makarewicz. With trophies for the top five, lap money, plus other
special additions, this will be the thriller event of the season. All the action
begins with heat racing at 6:30 PM.
On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18th will be the Shaun-fest benefit concert for
thriller driver, Shaun Burd, who was recently sidelined due to serious burns
from a work related incident. Along with performances by YMI, Nemesis, Monsters
of Rock, Farmer’s Daughter and Emily’s Toybox, Shaun-fest will also include a
Chinese auction, dunk tank (dunk your favorite driver), a 50/50 drawing, door
prizes and many more things. Shaun-fest is scheduled to begin at 12:30 PM, and
will be held rain or shine.
