FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Doug Drown Scores Four Top Ten Finishes; Looks To ‘World’
By Doc Lehman
Wooster, OH --- During the extended Labor Day weekend Doug Drown of Wooster, OH
scored four top finishes at three different tracks in special events held over
the weekend. Drown competed in his Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance
Parts/Hamlin Automotive/Malcuit Racing Engines/Mason Racin/Bert
Transmission/Hoosier Tire/Lehman Motorsports Services/Genesis Racing
Shocks/Slavic Custom Racing Shirts Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12.
“We had a fairly successful weekend, we had all top tens,” stated Drown. “To be
able to come out of that for the weekend in one piece and didn’t tear any
equipment up Id have to say we had a good weekend. The crew did a good job, we
ran four times over the weekend so I think that’s a testament of how good our
team has come along. I think it shows we’re able to handle that type of busy
racing in the future.”
On Friday Drown returned to his ‘home’ track at Wayne County Speedway in
Orrville, OH for the Inaugural Summer Sizzler weekend and on Friday night during
the 11th Annual Pete Jacobs Memorial finished fourth in the 40-lap main event.
With Wayne County rained out on Saturday the team headed south to Portsmouth
Raceway Park for the MACS sanctioned race where they finishes sixth in the main
event after qualifying third fastest.
On Sunday Drown and the team returned north to compete in the 35-lap Sunday
Sizzler special event at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH where he crossed
the checkered flag in third. On Monday the Drown team returned to Wayne County
Speedway for the 3rd Annual Freedom Fighters 50 and finishes seventh in the
50-lap feature event.
Another treat for Drown on Monday was watching his father, Jeff Drown, be
inducted into the 2nd Annual Wayne County Speedway Hall of Fame. “That was
pretty cool, he definitely deserved it I think,” commented Drown. “He was
someone I always looked up to as a racecar driver and he could wheel anything.
Even today if he got in one he could get to the front. It was a great honor to
see him inducted and maybe someday we’ll be there right with him. It might be
hard with us on the road but it was a great achievement for Dad.”
Drown was also pleased to see long-time friend and team sponsor Brad Malcuit be
inducted as well. “I’ve always looked up to Brad,” said Drown. “When I was a
younger guy he always had nicknames for me like back when I was running around
with Charlie (Duncan). Brad, just seeing him down there, he deserved it. He is a
great racer and could win anywhere all over the country. He could go anywhere
and win. And now being good friends with him it was great seeing him inducted
the same time as my father.”
This weekend Drown will make his second trip to the WORLD 100 at Eldora
Speedway. “I’m looking forward to it,” said Drown. “Its one of those deals you
have to have everything ready to go and I know a lot of people say you have to
practice out there and get out there a few times which we weren’t able to do
this year. I think our chances of making a heat race is pretty good, we’ve had
some luck but you can never count on that. We’re just going to try and make the
top 120 and then try for a heat race. If we could get lucky and make the A Main
this year that’d be unbelievable!”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Doug Drown Wins On ‘Historic’ Night
By Doc Lehman
Wooster, OH --- Last Friday night was termed ‘historic’ for one reason and it
turned out that way for another reason as well. Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg,
OH has been shuttered since 1973 and last Friday evening the grand re-opening
Super Late Model race was held to mark the occasion and coming home the victor
was Doug Drown of Wooster, OH who will go into the record books as the first
winner of the ‘new’ Hilltop Speedway, a track that was closed for nearly a
decade before he was born. Another notable that night was the fact that Drown’s
infant son, Cale, attended his first-ever race and the ‘old man’ took the win
driving his Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance Parts/Hamlin Automotive/Malcuit
Racing Engines/Mason Racin/Bert Transmission/Hoosier Tire/Lehman Motorsports
Services/Genesis Racing Shocks Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12.
For a couple decades the Holmes Hilltop Speedway ran each week in Millersburg,
OH until the end of the 1973 season when the track was finally shuttered, for
what most people thought was for good. Few ever imagined the track would ever
return but that’s exactly what happened this year when Ashland, OH businessman
Jeff Norris, a second-generation racer, purchased the property and spent months
and months revitalizing, renovating and remodeling the track.
“It was definitely a great feeling,” understated Drown, 23. “Obviously the guys
prepared the cars well because it seemed like a lot of the guys were breaking
something. The track wasn’t really that rough, it was pretty smooth and only had
one hole in one turn.”
“But you have to hand it to them at Hilltop, they did everything to get that
show in and the drivers all came out and helped. It ain’t cheap at $5.00 a
gallon to burn racing fuel but every single driver came out and helped run the
track in. Jeff took care of us, so we took care of him.”
“Definitely the car was awesome and it was exciting to win in a race like that,
it came down to the second to last turn of the last lap so it was definitely a
good win for the team.”
No one disputed how exciting the race was. “It was exciting as all get out and I
don’t think there was anyone who was sitting down for that in the stands,” said
Ed Fredericks, Race Director and Head Flagman at Hilltop. “Doug and Ryan did a
great job in that race, it couldn’t have been more entertaining for the fans. It
was a great way to usher in the new era of Hilltop Speedway.”
Drown’s win didn’t come easy as he had to fend off the relentless challenges of
Ryan Markham. Drown and Markham spent lap after lap virtually side by side and
it wasn’t until the checkered flag of Ed Fredericks dropped did Drown have the
win in hand.
“I kept seeing his nose once in awhile and I thought pretty soon Ryan will let
it all hang out and with coming around for the white flag he came flying in
there and I went in there, and if he wouldn’t have jumped the cushion he
probably would have went around us, but we held on,” explained Drown. “Ed
Fredericks said he had never been on a flagstand and never saw a race that
exciting. He said we put on a great show.”
“I think that’s the way it’ll be in Friday night down there. The track will be
able to have that cushion and it won’t be follow the leader. I think they have a
great thing going on down there.”
Drown won over Markham, Blaine Aber, D. J. Miller, J. R. Gentry, Eric Smitley,
Mark Gardiner, Ty Myers, Charlie Duncan, Andy Fike, Michael Stiltner, Josh
McMorrow, Jeff Wright, Travis Brookover, Jim Gentry, Tracey Fritter, Mike
Stiltner and Mike Graber.
With inclement weather forcing nearly every other dirt track in Ohio to cancel
last Friday, Hilltop management dug in and made every effort to get the show in.
“I gained a lot of respect for them down there,” stated Drown. “I hate to admit
it but I was one of the doubters who thought they wouldn’t get a race in until
July. But they did it and its exciting racing. I was impressed and I hope the
fans enjoyed it.”
“From the time we pulled in to the gates, people were waving and thanking us for
coming. Where else do you get that at? They were all friendly. To me there is
nothing bad you can say about the place. The races that night should have been
cancelled but the guy showed he is there to race and that’s all we wanted to
do.”
Another highlight of that night for Drown was the fact that his son, Cale, who
was born this past October, attended his first-ever race with Dad and Mom,
Courtney, and it was on a night that Dad took a very impressive win on a special
night.
“I told Courtney that’s how memories are made,” commented Drown. “The first
night out he goes to the races that we take him and we win and that’s something
we can always share as a family together plus the grand opening night of that
track. It’s sweet. It was great.”
“The track held up things so Courtney could get on down and Ed Fredericks held
Cale until she got down so she could carry him over to victory lane. The whole
crew, the whole family, it was a great time for all of us that night.”
“The car was great and I want to thank Mike (Farr) for getting our shock package
(Genesis Racing Shocks) figured out. He helped us with that and got us
straightened out and we picked up a win.”
This Saturday evening Drown will compete with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series when they make a visit to the King Family promoted Florence Speedway in
Union, KY for the 20th Annual "Ralph Latham Memorial" race on Saturday night
June 3rd. The race is a tribute to one of the all-time great drivers out of the
Cincinnati, OH area who will be posthumously inducted into the National Dirt
Late Model Hall of Fame at Florence on August 12th.

Doug Drown Competes At Portsmouth
By Doc Lehman
Wooster, OH --- Doug Drown searched high and low for a race this past weekend
and despite heavy rain throughout most of Ohio and the surrounding region Drown
found a race in Portsmouth, OH to compete at in his Wooster Glass Co/Poske
Performance Parts/Hamlin Automotive/Malcuit Racing Engines/Mason Racin/Bert
Transmission/Hoosier Tire/Genesis Racing Shocks Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12.
Drown entered the competition at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH
Saturday evening May 13 and came home with a solid third place finish in the
main event. “We had one caution and it was early on in the race,” explained
Drown. “It was a smooth race track. It was pretty awesome. When they dropped the
green we dropped back a couple spots and then we got back in line and started
picking them off and ended up getting to third. (Josh) McGuire and Jackie
(Boggs) took off and I ran Jackie back down. It was pretty good racing it was
the best I ever ran there. The car was awesome and everything ran great so were
looking forward to going back down this summer for all their MACS races.”
This weekend Drown and team will be heading to Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville,
OH for round one of the 2006 American Payroll Advance Big 4 Series race where
Drown holds the record for most feature wins in that series.
“I love racing down there, it’s a cool bullring type of track. Its always tough
to actually win down there but if we can run top five we’ll be pretty happy,
they have a good payoff. We just need to keep the wheels on the car and stay out
of trouble.”
On Saturday night team plans are to tentatively compete at Wayne County Speedway
in Orrville, OH.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Doug Drown Scores First of Season
By Doc Lehman
On Saturday night at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH Doug Drown of
Wooster, OH came to the track in hopes of doing some testing in anticipation of
the following week’ World of Outlaws Late Model Series race at the track where
he is defending champion and with a top five finish in mind Drown and his team
went out and scored the feature win over a 34-car field. Drown, who is on the
road this season running a variety of World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series, MACS, UMP and other sanctioned and unsanctioned
races returned to his home track for opening night driving his Wooster Glass Co/Poske
Performance Parts/Hamlin Automotive/Malcuit Racing Engines/Mason Racin/Bert
Transmission/Hoosier Tire/Genesis Racing Shocks Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12.
“The team did great tonight, the car was awesome all night,” stated an enthused
Drown right after he arrived at his pit after capturing the checkered flag. “I
was a little concerned coming here with Hoosiers (Racing Tires) because they
haven’t been real dominant in the past on weekly shows here and everyone knows
that but the tire program Hoosier has going on, they are doing something right.”
“And with our new Genesis Shocks, it’s great to get them into victory lane. Our
whole team worked hard for it, we worked all day. I wasn’t happy with my
performance in the Sunoco race and the guys did a great job getting things
changed and it paid off. We came here to do what we wanted to test and tune for
the Outlaws and I was just hoping for a top five and that’s what makes this even
more sweeter this weekend.”
Thus far during these early stages of the 2006 season Drown has ventured out to
high profile races in Georgia and Virginia in addition to races in Ohio and
despite some bad luck it appears the team has turned the corner as the bulk of
the season lay ahead. Drown indicated that Saturday’s win would be a substantial
motivator for his team.
“To win here with the guys that were here tonight just makes it sweet and I
guess we did it in pretty good fashion out there,” commented Drown. “It’s just
being consistent. That’s one thing running with the big guys, you have to learn
to be patient and a little more smoother and it pays off. I try to keep my cool
and keep the tires underneath me and it worked out I guess.”
“Track was awesome. Definitely you could move around. (WCS track prep) Tim
(Myers) and the staff put on a great show and they got the track prepped right.
Ultra smooth and if they can keep it like that I guarantee the Outlaws will be
loving this place next week.”
Drown was asked if that, despite running with the World of Outlaws Late Model
Series earlier this season, did this win give him a boost of confidence as the
touring group is set to come into his home track. “I feel a little bit more
confident,” responded Drown. “I guess I’m always putting myself down a little
bit so I wont be disappointed if things don’t work out but if we can make the
race next week I’ll be real happy. If we can get in hopefully we can move up
from there. The main thing is to be on top of the game.”
“I think tonight we might have learned a little bit on tires. Hopefully tonight
can add for next week. I know this team is pumped up. The 10g’s would be nice
but if we can make the race and get a top five in that would be great.”
Drown also feels the win will give the entire team momentum from a mental
standpoint and allow them to focus more concisely on the task ahead next
weekend. “Absolutely, the whole time this year we’ve been off,” explained Drown.
“We’d be good early but feature time we didn’t have the car. Well, this thing
tonight after the guys worked on the car we went through the whole car, checked
the front suspension. It’s hard work like that when you win it makes everyone
happier.”
“Wins are the payoff. Sometimes you wonder why we work all those long hours, why
do we work so hard? Well, tonight shows why that hard work pays off. A lot of
people don’t understand it takes a lot to prep these cars and I have a group of
guys that do an awesome job. And that’s one thing that it takes, it takes a team
and if it wasn’t for these guys we wouldn’t have been in victory lane tonight.”
Drown’s crew consists of Ken Moser, James Boreman, Keith Kahl, Jason Flinner,
Dan Drown, Shane Hites and Steven Hershberger.
Drown was also more than happy that two changes he made to his car this season
has not only worked but may have exceeded expectations so soon. “After tonight I
know we made the right decision going with Hoosier Tires this year. Tonight the
car planted, it rotated and it did everything it was supposed to do. Hoosier
Tires, I was kind of joking earlier in the week about getting them back into
victory lane here and I guess we did so hopefully we can do a little bit more
when we come back later in the year. Hopefully some of these guys here might
start switching over to Hoosiers and I did my job then and showed that they can
win here.”
“As for switching to the new Genesis Shocks, I’m impressed with everything Mike
Farr has going on there. It’s so simple its unreal. People today were asking me
about them and someone said they were expensive but they’re not. They’re
probably one of the cheapest shocks with coil over kit and everything right out
of the box. You put them on the car and go.”
“And that’s what Mike Farr and Mike Lutz wanted to do and I think they
accomplished that. And now its just letting these other guys to realize they
have a good product and the craftsmanship in the product is unbelievable and
they are so simple to work with.”
Drown was also complimentary towards his chassis and engine builders. “The
Rocket Chassis felt good tonight,” said Drown. “I had a great car that we raced
last year and this one is a brand new one and tonight we had it hooked up. Those
guys, if I’m ever down they’re always there to help. They have great support.
They don’t hide anything and they tell you what to do. These shocks, for the
price, definitely paid off for us and Rocket Chassis are number one for us.”
“And I have to thank Malcuit Racing Engines for providing a great Ford Mustang
engine. It’s just unbelievable the power I have lacked the past couple years and
I think it’s paying off now that we switched programs.”

last weekend Drown will head north to Attica Raceway Park on Friday 28 and
compete in the Sunoco American Late Model Series race followed by the 41st
season opener at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH. “We’re looking forward
to Attica, they usually get a lot of cars for these races there,” said Drown.
“We’re going to go to Wayne County on Saturday for their season opener and get
some laps in for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series race the following
weekend there.”
On Sunday evening April 30 Drown will appear on the Dirt Racers Radio show. The
Sunday evening April 30 edition of Dirt Racers Radio will spotlight dirt Late

Drown is the defending Wayne County Speedway Late Model champion and anxious to
get back for the opener. “Even though we won’t be at Wayne County as much this
year with our other commitments on the road, I can’t wait to get back out
there,” added Drown. “We’ll try our best to get out there and get the job done
and try and learn something for the World of Outlaws race.”
The World Of Outlaws Late Model Series will make their debut appearance at Wayne
County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio for the $10,000 to win Buckeye Classic 50. The
national race is scheduled for Saturday, May 6 at the semi-banked 3/8ths mile
dirt oval and will carry a $45,000 purse. Drown is looking forward to the
touring regulars competing on his home track.
“I think as long as that track is prepped the way it has been in the past I
think people will see a great show,” commented Drown. “I don’t think there are
any other series races that night so I think we might see a couple Lucas Oil and
MACS guys. It’s going to be a hell of a show. For $25 it will be well worth
getting in the gate, especially when you put the locals into the mix. I know my
team is sure looking forward to it and I know a lot of the other drivers in this
area are getting ready for it.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Doug Drown Goes Virginia Racing
By Doc Lehman
Wooster, OH --- Doug Drown of Wooster, OH was back on the road this past weekend
as the team headed south to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, VA
for the Rumble On The River 50 race sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late
Model Series. Drown competed in his Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance/Hamlin
Automotive/Lehman Motorsports Services/Malcuit Racing Engines/Hoosier Tire
Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12.
“I guess it was an up and down thing,” commented Drown on his weekend. “It ran
really well in the heat race. We missed it just by a little bit. The B Main, we
just went totally wrong on tires. It was a learning curve and we put in our
notes what happened. Their facility, once again, was like no other. Good racing
all the way around, you could run the top, middle, it was three wide and four
wide sometimes. It was the best race I’ve seen there. It’s just disappointing
not to be a part of it.”
As for this weekend Drown and team will attend the season-opener at Wayne County
Speedway in Orrville, OH where Drown captured the dirt Late Model track
championship last season. “Right now we’re going to run Wayne County’s season
opener so we can get some track time and work on tires for the upcoming World of
Outlaws Late Model Series race they just announced for May 6. We’ll do some work
on tires this week. Not saying we will but it’d be nice to get Hoosier back in
victory lane there again.”
Drown also debuted a new Genesis Racing Shocks package on his Rocket Chassis/Malcuit
Racing Engines #12. “I loved them,” stated Drown. “The car felt great, felt the
car finally move again underneath me. I’m looking forward to getting on
different tracks with them on. It’s too early to give a true assessment but I
really think that both Mike’s at Genesis have come up with something good. The
shocks are unbelievable, the quality, the time and effort they put into
developing it, the craftsmanship is excellent. I can say right out of the box,
the way they felt, I couldn’t be happier.”
Drown, a former Renegade Dirt Car Series and MACS regular and the 2005 Wayne
County Speedway champion, has embarked on his upcoming 2006 ‘Black ‘n Blue’ tour
that will see the 23-year-old young gun run an extended schedule of high-profile
events including non-sanctioned races as well as those sanctioned by the Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Mid Atlantic
Championship Series (MACS) and UMP.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Doug Drown Ready For Some ‘Outlaw’ Racing
By Doc Lehman
Wooster, OH --- This weekend it’s a return to the road as Doug Drown and his
Drown Racing Team head off to compete in two World of Outlaws Late Model Series
races after spending last weekend in a somewhat unfamiliar role as a crew
member. This weekend will mark the ignition of Drown’s 2006 season in his
Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance/Wooster Doll Shoppe/Hamlin Automotive/Lehman
Motorsports Services/Malcuit Racing Engines/Hoosier Tire Rocket Chassis Ford
Mustang #12.
Last weekend Drown accompanied driver Brad Malcuit to The Rock/Allegany County
Speedway in Cumberland, MD to assist the driver at the MACS sanctioned event.
“Brad borrowed my trailer so we went along to help out as a crew member,” said
Drown. “Definitely weird being on the other side helping and not driving but
Brad is always fun and Barney and Chad who went with us, we had a good time and
I got to see how the track was. I felt we did really well, we were only one car
out of making it and there were a lot of cars that didn’t make it. We definitely
had a good time and that’s the main thing.”
Drown will strap back into his Rocket Chassis this weekend and compete at the
$10,000 to win ‘Spring Showdown In Sarver Town 50’ to be held April 7 at
Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania followed by the ‘Rumble On The
River 50’ scheduled for April 8 at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in
Saluda, Va. paying $10,000 to the winner of the SPEED covered event.
“The last time I was at Lernerville I climbed the wall and ripped the fuel cell
out but we got the car going that night and everything put back into the car,”
explained Drown. “We made a fuel cell bracket out of the tire rack in the
trailer, but I think we’ll be alright. I’m looking forward to it and we have a
lot better equipment now than we ever had and I guess we’ll see what we have
running against those guys.”
Drown is looking forward to returning to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway
in Saluda, VA. “We’ve always been right there anywhere from 8th to 12th at VMS
and I’m looking forward to it,” commented Drown. “We like that place, Bill
Sawyer always keeps the fans and drivers in mind. I’ve gotten a few calls this
week and it looks like quite a few fans from this area are going to go down and
watch us race there so that’s kind of cool to have fans up here go down there to
watch.”
“I’m really looking forward to getting back down there. I tell everyone it’s a
NASCAR facility but it just has dirt on the racing surface. It’s run
professionally and they keep the prices affordable for fans and drivers to get
in. I love racing there, you can pass, you can start in the back and work your
way to the front and the payoff is good. Class act down there, all of them and
they all treat you real good down there. I’ll be at all their big races.”
Something else Drown is looking forward to is the chance to perform in front of
a national television audience. The SPEED cameras will capture all the exciting
action of the April 8 ‘Rumble On The River 50’ at Virginia Motor Speedway with
broadcast slated for July 16 at 6:00p.m. EDT. The SPEED coverage is part of 15
World of Outlaws Late Model Series 2006 events slated for broadcast in 2006.
“Absolutely, I always wonder if we’ll do well but I think we’ll do alright and
with this TV race I hope we can show our potential and shine,” said Drown. “The
guys are all fired up and ready to go. It’s amazing how much drive they have.
It’s been a long winter and their ready to get going and get out there and I
just have to race smart and not tear up any equipment.”
Drown’s crew consists of Ken Moser, James C. Boreman, Keith Allen Kahl, Jason
Flinner, Dan Drown, Shane Hites and Steven Hershberger.
Drown also announced that he will now be utilizing Genesis Racing Shocks on his
Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines #12.
Drown and his wife, Courtney, has also been spending time with his five-month
old son and was especially excited that son Cale has begun to rollover on his
own. “Yeah, that’s great!” exclaimed the proud Papa. “Except he won’t do it
consistently yet. But he’s great and really growing!”
Drown, a former Renegade Dirt Car Series and MACS regular and the 2005 Wayne
County Speedway champion, will embark on his upcoming 2006 ‘Black ‘n Blue’ tour
that will see the 23-year-old young gun run an extended schedule of high-profile
events including non-sanctioned races as well as those sanctioned by the Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Mid Atlantic
Championship Series (MACS) and UMP.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Doug Drown Prepares Schedule, New Sponsors Added
By Doc Lehman
Wooster, OH --- Dirt Late Model driver Doug Drown, 23, of Wooster, OH has
announced a tentative schedule for his 2006 Black ‘N Blue Tour that will see the
talented racer tackling numerous sanctioned and non-sanctioned events throughout
the mid-Atlantic region. Drown also announced the addition of two additional
sponsors to the Doug Drown Racing team for the 2006 season, Hypercoil and Weld
Wheels. Drown competes in his Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance/Wooster Doll
Shoppe/Hamlin Automotive/Lehman Motorsports Services/Malcuit Racing
Engines/Hoosier Tire Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12.
“I think we have a pretty reasonable schedule that is do-able for us,” stated
Drown. “We’ll be adding a few more TV races. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series haven’t released their television race dates yet so once they do that
there will be some adjustments to the schedule and we’ll be adding some of
them.”
“There are some races I would have went to normally but when you throw in the
fact that some races are on television, pay $10,000 to win and $700 to start it
really pays to go a little further to run one of those rather than a local
$2,000 or $3,000 to win race that is closer. I may do better in those but we
wouldn’t get the exposure like we are wanting to get. I’m trying to get to as
many TV races as we can.”
Drown also explained that additional dates will likely be added to the team’s
schedule and there could be some adjustment to the schedule during the season.
The schedule will be kept up-to-date and current on the Doug Drown website
located at: www.dougdrown.com and
maintained by Farr Motorsports.
“My crew wants to go to Knoxville and some others but we’ll plan that once we
get close to that part of the season,” added Drown. “And of course, there could
always be additional big races that could be scheduled, there are some races
being rumored. So we’ll have to see and make adjustments as needed. We’ll likely
add some races at the end of the season.”
“But at least we have a tentative schedule and people will have a good idea of
where we’ll be and what we’ll be doing.”
Drown will be racing with several sanctioning bodies including MACS, Lucas Oil
Late Model Dirt Series and UMP. Sunoco ALMS and Northern Allstars Late Model
Series events are being considered.
The next race on Drown’s slate will be two World of Outlaw Late Model Series
events starting on April 7 at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. The
Lernerville event is scheduled as a DIRTvision.com ‘LIVE Video Cybercast’. The
next day, April 8, Drown and team will head to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor
Speedway in Saluda, Va., for SPEED television race.
“We’re going to Lernerville, it’s a good track and it’ll allow us to see where
we need to step up and or if we’re on track,” commented Drown. “And we’re close
enough to home that if we need to we can come back home and get another car and
then head to Virginia.”
“The last time we were at Lernerville we didn’t run too good but you have to get
back on that horse. It’s a great track and facility and very historic place. As
for VMS, I’m really looking forward to getting back down there. I tell everyone
it’s a NASCAR facility but it just has dirt on the racing surface. It’s run
professionally and they keep the prices affordable for fans and drivers to get
in. I love racing there, you can pass, you can start in the back and work your
way to the front and the payoff is good. Class act down there, all of them and
they all treat you real good down there. I’ll be at all their big races.”
Drown also revealed that his team had signed on with two new product sponsors
for his 2006 Black ‘n Blue Tour, Hypercoil and Weld Wheels.
Hyperco is a supplier of high performance suspension components for all levels
of the motor racing industry. The Hyperco product line includes suspension coils

Doug Drown and the Doug Drown Racing Team will participate in the 2006 Bowl For

in Orrville, Ohio and will be presented by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wayne

$4,000.

team captains. The bag contains goodies from BBBS including a water bottle,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Doug Drown Returns From Georgia, Looking To VMS
By Lehman Motorsports Services
The 2006 racing season kicked off for Doug Drown, 23, of Wooster, OH, this past
weekend in Georgia and although he got to run some laps it wasn’t quite the
weekend he hoped for as Drown’s ‘06 Black ‘N Blue Tour’ officially started
aboard his Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance/Wooster Doll Shoppe/Hamlin
Automotive/Lehman Motorsports Services/Malcuit Racing Engines/Hoosier Tire
Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12.
This past weekend Drown and crew traveled south to Oglesthorpe Speedway Park for
the 2nd Annual Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out presented by Stock Car Racing and
Circle Track Magazines along with Sport Clips at the Oglethorpe Speedway Park in
Georgia that was held on February 3-4.
After starting 22nd in the main event for the ‘Young Guns’ Drown was scored in
12th position after the race was cut nearly in half. Only 13 laps of the
promised 25-laps were run.
“It started off alright, we had a pretty quick car,” explained Drown on Monday
after returning home. “I was a little off in the heat but once we got to the
feature Booper Bare helped me out a little bit with the setup and I was really
quick. Halfway through the race we were already sitting ninth but under caution
two cars passed me and they scored them ahead of me and also a person who was
three laps down and they gave him his spot back which moved me back to 12th and
then obviously with two laps left, that was lap 11, two laps later they
checkered flagged it.”
“It was disappointing after going down there thinking we could do good and show
them what we had. And I feel we were showing them. We were coming through the
pack, but they cut us short with the laps. I’m not saying we would have won but
I think we would have definitely moved ahead of three or four cars and had a
nice top ten finish.”
The main purpose for Drown and his team to head south was for the opportunities
that were being offered through entry fees including seminars, a mock interview
and presentation DVD, media exposure and other promotional opportunities.
“Unfortunately hardly anything that was promised happened,” revealed Drown. “I
don’t know about any NASCAR reps, we never saw any or heard they were there but
that wasn’t why we went. We went for the exposure, the media contacts and the
different seminars. We want to be serious about marketing. On Friday we got
there at noon and the seminar started and they talked a little bit about how
important media is and how you present yourself but there was supposed to be at
least five speakers but only three speakers were there and it was done within an
hour and we were headed to the track.”
“At the seminar they said they were supposed to do the mock interviews there but
they said we’ll go around tomorrow and get you when we can. I was wondering why
because we had three hours left to do it in, but unfortunately we never got any
interviews and the cameras that were going around were camcorders like you use
at home.”
“So we, and most of the others, didn’t get the mock interview or DVD. They told
us they would give us a DVD of the interview and hand them out and for us to
meet the press but we never got to do that because we never saw any. We also
took press kits down and they said they would hand them out for us but I don’t
know what happened to them.”
“We were going down for the media coverage and everything else they were
offering. I would never go that far for just a $2,000 to win race. I wouldn’t
leave the garage for less than $400 or $500 to start for that distant. It was
for the media exposure, the seminars and what they said they would do for us. I
guess you have to watch some of the people in this racing deal and be careful of
who you can trust.”
“But it was definitely a learning experience, just not the way we thought it
would be.”
Up next for Doug Drown and Drown Racing will be a trip to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia
Motor Speedway for the Saturday April 8 World of Outlaws Late Model Series race
that will be filmed for later broadcast on the Speed channel.
Drown Racing would also like to remind you that the 2006 Bowl For Kids’ Sake

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Busy Weekend For Doug Drown
By Doc Lehman
Wooster, OH --- This past weekend was a busy one for dirt Late Model driver Doug
Drown, 23, of Wooster, OH and his team. Not only did he attend the Wayne County
Speedway Awards Banquet on Friday night to claim his championship trophy and
point fund check but he then immediately headed eight hours east after the
banquet to participate in the Motorsports 2006 presented by VP Racing Fuels show
in Ft. Washington, PA where his Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance/Mason Racin/Hamlin
Automotive/Lehman Motorsports Services/Malcuit Racing Engines/Hoosier Tire
Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang was on display in the Virginia Motor Speedway booth
that also happened to win the Best Appearing Award for Tracks & Sanctions at the
show.
“It was great!” bottom-lined Drown when asked about the Wayne County Speedway
Awards Banquet on Friday evening where was honored as the 2005 champion. “Being
the champion is the greatest honor to be there with the guys we ran against. The
banquet was great and at a very nice facility. The (WCS owners) Coffman’s went
through everything pretty quickly but gave each person time to talk and thank
their sponsors. It was very nice everyone got to say a few words.”
Drown attended with his wife, Courtney, parents Jeff & Nicki Drown, family
members and the entire crew. One special guest was Drown’s three month old son,
Cale. “That was cool!” smiled Drown. “He had a little fussing going on early on
but he was good to go after he got a bottle. I think he got more attention than
anyone did there. He was in little suit and everything and all the girls were
oohing and ahhing him. It was great to have the whole family there.”
With Drown’s Rocket Chassis #12 Ford Mustang on display at the Virginia Motor
Speedway booth all weekend at the Motorsports 2006 presented by VP Racing Fuels
show the Drown’s made the eight-hour trek to Ft. Washington immediately
following the banquet to attend the final two days of the huge extravaganza.
Drown participate din a special autograph session at the Virginia Motor Speedway
booth along with Chris Carr, seven time AMA Grand National Champion. Drown also
appeared on the Saturday live radio broadcast of the BPGRacing/Chad Sinon Racing
Welcomes Dirt Nation™ presented by Lucas Oil show.
“I think it was a really nice show that Mr. (Len) Sammons and his staff put on,”
commented Drown. “It was laid out really nice. It’s amazing how many different
types of things are there. There are things for drivers to see what’s new in the
industry and a ton of things for the fans. It’s definitely a great thing for
everyone in the industry. Definitely a very nice show.”
Drown, who will go out on the road in 2006 racing with a wide assortment of
sanctions and high-profile events, was excited to participate in the special
autograph session set up by Virginia Motor Speedway “That was really neat, it
was fun and amazing how many people were there,” said Drown. “Chris Carr is
really cool and definitely a down to earth guy and very successful at what he
does. It was great to be a part of Bill Sawyer’s team at the booth. It was very
nice to be there and sign autographs and meet so many people. And I’m thrilled
that Mr. Sawyer and Virginia Motor Speedway won that award. Their booth was so
professional looking and so colorful and inviting.”
“I also had fun doing the Dirt Nation™ radio show. Doc (Lehman) and Dave Seay
always treat me good and it sure was different doing the show there in front of
so many people with so much going on all around. Everyone out there treated us
so good. We really appreciate the reception we got. In fact, we can’t wait to go
back next year.”
“I also need to thank Mr. Sammons, Mr. Pratt, Mr. Kovac and the rest of the
staff for inviting my father, Jeff, to be in the Sunday afternoon ‘Saturday
Night Heroes’ autograph session for retired drivers. That was a blast for him
and a great honor. Our family is very appreciative to everyone at Area Auto
Racing News for their hospitality.”
