MOTORSPORTS 2007 WILL LIKELY HAVE A NEW HOME FOLLOWING ANNOUNCED SALE OF FORT
WASHINGTON EXPO CENTER; UPCOMING MID-ATLANTIC ROD AND CUSTOM CAR SHOW STILL
SET FOR EXPO CENTER
TRENTON, NJ February 6, 2006 - The popular Motorsports 2007 show will likely
have a new home following the announced sale of the Fort Washington (Pa.) Expo
Center.
Local newspapers and television stations carried news on Feb. 3 that the Fort
Washington Expo Center, which has hosted the Len Sammons Productions-organized
Motorsports show since 1995, is being sold and will be converted into office
space. Plans indicate that the Expo Center, a very popular trade show site,
could be closed to "show business" by June 2006.
"The news came as quite a shock," said Len Sammons, who founded the company
which carries his name. "We had no idea the Fort Washington Expo Center was
even for sale.
"However, we have been able to act quickly and we are confident that we will
have a new location for our Motorsports 2007 show in the very near future."
Sammons's Motorsports show, dedicated to just about everything imaginable in
the motorsports industry, is annually one of the largest shows presented at
the huge Expo Center. His recent Motorsports 2006 presented by VP Racing Fuels
show attracted more than 40,000 people during its three-day run and filled
virtually all of the 270,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space available at the Fort
Washington Expo Center.
Len Sammons Productions also organizes the Mid-Atlantic Rod and Custom Car
Show, which is scheduled for its first annual edition March 31-April 2 at the
Expo Center. Plans are moving forward with that show and all indications are
that it will be a huge success, with more than 300 cars on display and a long
list of celebrities appearing during the three-day event.
While making final preparations for the show, Sammons and his staff will now
also be working to find new sites for the 2007 Motorsports and Mid-Atlantic
Rod and Custom shows. In fact, Sammons has already been contacted by other
Expo/Convention centers within a reasonable driving distance of Fort
Washington's suburban Philadelphia location.
In addition, Fort Washington Expo Center general manager Ken Safarowic, who
oversees 11 large trade shows held at the building, is working with the
Montgomery County Industrial Development Center to secure another location in
the County.
Sammons said the announcement of the Expo Center's sale comes at the best
possible time for his shows. The sale does not affect this year's Mid-Atlantic
Rod and Custom Car Show, and he noted that Motorsports '07 brochures have not
yet even been printed.
"Our first deadline for Motorsports exhibitor booth renewals is April 1, so we
have time to make new plans," said Sammons, who has organized the Motorsports
show for 21 years. "We are proceeding with the same time-table we always have,
and when we have a new site and floor plan confirmed for the show our loyal,
past exhibitors will have the first chance to select booth space.
"We will carefully consider all site options for 2007," continued Sammons.
"The Motorsports show has grown to be a huge event and we intend to make it
even better in the future."
An announcement of a new site for Motorsports 2007 is expected to be made in
the coming weeks.

Doug Drown To Appear At Motorsports ‘06
Ft. Washington, PA --- Race fans and attendees of the 21st Annual Motorsports
2006 presented by VP Racing Fuels will get a chance to see dirt Late Model
driver Doug Drown’s sleek Rocket Chassis #12 on display at the mid-winter
extravaganza that is dedicated to everything motorsports. Drown’s racecar will
be on display in the Virginia Motor Speedway booth (Booth #233) during the
January 13-15, 2006 running of the popular show produced by Len Sammons
Productions that will be held at the Ft. Washington Expo Center in Ft.
Washington, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia.
“They are also going to have one or two other cars in their booth but it’s
an honor to be asked by the folks at Virginia Motor Speedway to be there with my
car,” commented Drown, of Wooster, OH. “I enjoy racing there for their big shows
and we’re going to definitely be at all of them this season. In fact, my team
can’t wait for their April 8 World of Outlaw Late Model Series race. We’ll be
there for their Lucas Oil and MACS races, too. We love going there, it’s an
awesome race track and a beautiful facility. We appreciate Mr. (Bill) Sawyer and
Dave Seay for this opportunity.”
“Since our track is having a number of sanctioned dirt Late Model events we
thought it was a natural to have a car on display in our booth that will be at
Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for those races,” explained Dave Seay,
PR/Marketing/Sales Director for VMS. “Doug has raced with us before and he’s an
exciting competitor and a real professional.”
Motorsports 2006 Presented by VP Racing Fuels will cover close to 300,000 square
feet of the Expo Center with more than 600 exhibit areas offering just about
everything automotive. Close to 200 racecars will be on display and there will
be appearances by many of the top names in the sport along with many local and
regional stars including Bill Elliott, Rusty Wallace, Jeff Hammond, Kurt Busch,
Don ‘Big Daddy’ Garlits and many others.
While Drown’s Rocket Chassis #12 will be on display all three days Drown himself
will be available during the entire show on Saturday and Sunday. Drown will be
unable to be at the Motorsports 2006 presented by VP Racing Fuels show on Friday
night as he and his wife and team will be attending the Wayne County Speedway
Awards Banquet in Mansfield, OH where Drown will be honored as the 2005 WCS Late
Model Champion.
“As soon as the banquet is over we’re heading for the Motorsports 2006 presented
by VP Racing Fuels show,” revealed Drown. “It will be a hectic weekend but we’re
thrilled to be able to celebrate this championship on the 20th anniversary of my
Dad’s (Jeff Drown) first championship. We’re also anxious to spend two days at
the Motorsports 2006 show and meet the fans and other racers. It’s also a good
opportunity for our sponsors. It’ll definitely be a fun weekend.”
On Saturday January 14 during the Motorsports 2006 presented by VP Racing Fuels
show Drown will also make an appearance on the Dirt Nation™ presented by Lucas
Oil radio program that will be broadcasting live from the show. The Saturday
broadcast will air from 4:00 – 6:00 PM EST at: www.racetalklive.com and on WRLT
1490 in Hampton, VA. Dirt Nation™ presented by Lucas Oil will also broadcast
live on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM EST.
Drown, a former Renegade Dirt Car Series and MACS regular, will embark on his
upcoming 2006 ‘Black ‘n Blue’ tour that will see the 23-year-old young gun run
an extended schedule of high-profile events including non-sanctioned races as
well as those sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, World of
Outlaws Late Model Series, Mid Atlantic Championship Series (MACS), UMP and
Sunoco ALMS. Signing with Doug Drown Racing for product support for 2006 is Bert
Transmissions and Mason Racin’, Inc.
Drown will start his 2006 ‘Black ‘n Blue Tour’ on the road with an early season
trip to Georgia for the 2nd Annual Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out at Oglethorpe
Speedway Park in Savannah, GA. The historic half-mile speedway will once again
showcase some of the nation’s best dirt track racing talent the first weekend of
February 2006 when Oglethorpe Speedway Park will host it’s 2nd Annual Coca-Cola
Young Guns Shoot-Out on February 2, 3 and 4, 2006.
The race, featuring drivers age 23 and younger, provides an opportunity for
professional teams to observe and meet the talented young drivers in one
location. Drown, coming off the 2005 Wayne County (OH) Speedway track
championship, and a former Renegade and MACS regular, will hit the road in 2006
concentrating on sanctioned races, television races and major unsanctioned

SEMINARS ABOUND FOR SHOW ATTENDEES AT MOTORSPORTS 2006 TRADE SHOW
FORT WASHINGTON, PA December 12, 2005 . . . Several exciting new additions dot
the technical seminar list announced for Motorsports 2006 Presented by VP Racing
Fuels, which is set for Jan. 13-15 at the Fort Washington (Pa.) Expo Center.
Highlighting the schedule is a dirt Modified question-and-answer seminar hosted by Tommy Grecco, the award-winning chief mechanic of the Sweeteners Plus race cars driven by New York star Tim McCreadie. Grecco will share his knowledge about preparing dirt Modified stock cars"from the garage to the racetrack" on Fri., Jan. 13, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Micro-Sprint set, meawhile, is sure to flock to a seminar conducted by accomplished Micro racer and PMP Chassis dealer Brett Schoenly and motor expert Don Guhl. Schoenly will provide setup ideas for 600cc Micro-Sprints and Guhl will offer fuel injection and engine-tuning tips during a seminar scheduled for Fri., Jan. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Also new to the seminar rundown in 2006 are tech gatherings hosted by racing radiator manufacturer Art Lentini ("Keeping Your Cool" on Sat., Jan. 14, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and Carl Bush of Wilwood Brakes ("ABCs of Race Car Braking" on Sat., Jan. 14, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.).
Other seminars offered will appeal to specific divisions, including dirt Late Models (with BRC's Jim Bernheisel), Street Stocks and 4-Cylinders (with Roy Anderson), quarter-midgets (with VRP Shocks' Vince Valeriano Sr.) and go-karts.
There will also be seminars focusing on race team sponsorship; shock-absorber theory; racing carburetors; computerized scoring systems for track officials; and race team tax and legal issues.
"Spending three days at Motorsports 2006 presented by VP Racing Fuels and
attending the variety of seminars being offered can almost result in a diploma
in motorsports," said show organizer Len Sammons. "Individuals taking the time
to attend the seminars can certainly improve themselves and
racers can improve their racing program."
All the seminars are free to show attendees.
"If there was such a thing as a diploma in motorsports, attending three days of seminars would go a long way toward earning one," said Ernie Saxton who handles the show public relations and is considered a sponsorship marketing expert. "For just the price of admis
