FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE---THANK YOU

17 YEARS OF THUNDER AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

The seventeenth season of the NAPA Auto Parts/COMDIAL Telephone Communications Thunder on the Hill Racing Series is now history with Fred Rahmer claiming his fourth sprint title as Mike Gular won his first ever Thunder Series Modified Championship in 2006. Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA is home to the Thunder Series and began back in August of 1990 when Stevie Smith won the inaugural running of the popular series.

In seventeen year, 74 Thunder events were presented on "the hill", paying out in excess of $2.5 million dollars in race night payouts. The Thunder Series started by first featuring the popular 410 sprint cars, a division the remains the biggest fan draw of the series. The Bruce Roger/Bob Miller promotion then expanded to include the CRA wingless sprints, the World of Outlaws, DIRT Modifieds, 358 Sprints, URC Sprints, ARDC Midgets, Legends, 600cc Modifieds and the 600cc Sprints were just a few of the headline divisions.

One of the most popular events of the Series is the Grandview THUNDER 5-25's, a features only program that offers five different divisions in one, very entertaining night of racing.

In 2006, Fred Rahmer earned his fourth Thunder Series Championship, edging out Alan Cole by just four points for the title. Lance Dewease, a ten time Thunder feature winner and four time Thunder Series Champion finished third in the final point standings.

In the COMDIAL Telephone Communications Modified Thunder Series title chase, Mike Gular won the title with 116 points. Finishing second and just six points behind Gular was Tom Umbenhauer, winner of the Thunder Series finale in October. Kevin Hirthler finished third in the point chase.

Top Six Thunder Career Feature Winners:
410 Sprints- - Billy Pauch 11, Lance Dewease 10, Fred Rahmer 8, Greg Hodnett 4, Steve Kinser 4. 29 different drivers have won sprint car features under the Thunder Series banner since 1990.

Modifieds- - Jeff Strunk 6, Brett Hearn 3, Frank Cozze 2, Jimmy Horton 2, Doug Manmiller 2, Tim McCreadie 2. 17 different drivers have won modifieds features in the Thunder Series.

For a look at all Thunder on the Hill statistics, please visit our website at: www.thunderonthehillracingseries.com

The staff of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series is busy at work planning the 2007 season. Already on the schedule will be the opening night of the Keystone Cup 410 Sprint Series on Wednesday night, May 23rd as well as the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week Series on Tuesday night, July 3. The Thunder Series schedule would not be complete without the modifieds and the 5-25's features only program. Watch for the schedule of events to be released with the Grandview Speedway schedule in early January.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- - -THANK YOU

Thunder on the Hill Closes out 2006 Season. . . . . . . .
CHILLS, THRILLS, SPILLS & CONTROVERSY SPICE UP HOLIDAY SHOW SATURDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW

The NAPA Auto Parts/COMDIAL Telephone Communications Thunder on the Hill Racing Series closed out the 2006 season with the House of Thunder Halloween Party and the Grandview THUNDER 5-25's on Saturday night at the Grandview Speedway. All that was missing on this night was a full moon and a black cat as cold weather provided the chills, the Modifieds the thrills, the ARDC Wingless midget the spills and URC stirred up a batch of controversy that had the fans refusing to leave the grandstands, even after the drop of the final checker flag of the night. This five feature format has always been a favorite of the fans and after this event, the Thunder Series promotion is sure to keep this one on the schedule.

With one-hundred and thirty-eight race cars in the pit area, the parking lot and a few in the neighbors back yard, the Grandview Speedway/Thunder on the Hill season finale opened with the Glick Fire Equipment Ghostly Legends. It was a wild, tooth and nail battle with as many as three cars challenging for the lead. Josh Morrow was an early race contender for the win as Rodney Kistler moved into the mix. Eventually, Tom Mayberry joined the party and took the lead on lap ten. Mayberry felt the pressure from Morrow right up to five laps to go, then lapped traffic offered Mayberry an opportunity to run and hide from the rest of the field. Mayberry took the win with Morrow second over Rodney Kistler, Randy Kissinger and Geremy Shaeffer.

The second of five twenty-five lap features took to the speedway with the Wild & Wingless ARDC Midgets now taking a turn on the Grandview Speedway one-third mile high-banks. Almost like a wicked spell was cast, youthful female driver Michele Miller took a wild flip in turn two in the early going. Ray Bull was also involved in a tangle that sent him to the rear, restarting the race in the twenty-eight spot. When green flag racing resumed, Fred Schell was the wizard at the front of the pack leading his challengers that included Paul Kline and Kathy Kurtz. Shell remained the top gun until lap seven when P.J. Gargulio took the lead. By lap nine, Grandview Modified racer, Tracy Readinger was second and looking to make a move.

Gargulio remained the leader until Readinger took the top spot on lap eighteen. Then from nowhere, like a rabbit jumping out of a hat, Ray Bull had moved into second (from his twenty-eight starting position) and on the hunt after the race leader. Bull took the lead on lap nineteen and went on to score a popular win with Readinger finishing second followed by Gargulio, Eric Heydenreich and Steve Lenig.

The Looney Late Models were up for the third feature of the night. John Geisler led the first three laps with Mike Kellner taking the lead on lap four. One lap later, Mark Malcolm became the third different leader of the race. Malcolm soon was faced with the challenges of Brian Shuey who was pressing the leader by lap nine. Greg Hoffmaster moved into third and the stage was set for a three car battle for the lead. On lap nineteen, while going for the lead, Shuey spun between turns three and four, displaying the caution flag. On the restart, Malcolm was on point with Greg Hoffmaster now in a position to challenge. But wait, Chuck Schutz was on charge and chasing down the leaders. On the white flag lap, Hoffmaster tried to pass for the lead in turn four, but spun into the infield and the caution was displayed. With one lap remaining, Mark Malcolm held on for the win with a determined Chuck Schutz knocking on the door and finishing second. Making up the top five were Rick Todorow, Bryon Sipe and Randy Stoudt.

The Nasty NASCAR Modifieds delivered the best performance of the night, completing their twenty-lap feature in just nine minutes. Tom Umbenhauer of Richland, PA scored his first Grandview victory and led the entire twenty-five lap distance. Although that might sound easy, it really wasn't. At the drop of the green flag, Umbenhauer was challenged by Mike Gular with Kevin Hirthler close in the chase. The one and only caution was displayed on lap night when Ray Swinehart, Hirthler and Terry Meitzler tangled in turn four.

With the field ready to restart, Umbenhauer now had Jeff Strunk in the runner-up spot. Strunk made a strong run for the lead then on lap thirteen, the popular Bethel, PA driver pulled to the infield with mechanical problems. In the late stages of the event, lapped traffic was going to play a part as Mike Gular and Craig VonDohren had caught the leader. With two laps remaining, Umbenhauer, Gular and VonDohren were three abreast between turns one and two all looking for a larger piece of Grandview Speedway real estate. Umbenhauer nosed ahead for the run down the backstretch, but going into turn three, Gular and VonDohren were all over the leader. As the checker flag fell, Umbenhauer earned the win over Mike Gular, Craig VonDohren, Doug Manmiller and MeMe DeSantis.

There's an old staying that you save the best for last and that just might have been the case Saturday night as the URC Spooky Sprints took the Grandview Speedway. In beautiful four abreast formation and fireworks bursting in the sky, the green flag fell and the fans had no idea of what the next twenty-five laps would bring. As the field charged into turn one, Scott Pursell (driving the John Pinter owned sprint car) flipped after contact with Brook Weibley, Dave Ely and Jimmy Stitzel. Pursell did walk away uninjured. On the restart, Mares Stellfox set the pace with Mark Bitner close in the chase. Bill Brian Jr., and Kevin Welsh were in a battle for third and fourth with Kramer Williamson watching the action from the fifth spot. Like in any URC event, all eyes were on Curt Michael who was charging to the front of the pack.

As the race went on, slower traffic was again going to play a role in this event as a five car battle for the win was being staged. Stellfox was on point followed by Mark Bitner, Kevin Welsh, Bill Brian Jr and yes, Curt Michael. The top five were now racing under a blanket when on lap eighteen, Robbie Stillwaggon spun in turn one, displaying the caution flag. With a clear track ahead, the green flag fell and Stellfox took off like she saw a ghost. By lap nineteen Curt Michael was in third and moved into second on lap twenty-one. For the next three laps, Michael inched his was closer to the leader. The dramatic turning point of the race came on the final lap. Stellfox used the high lane as Michael went to the bottom. When exiting turn four, Michael drifted high and made hard contact with Stellfox, sending her URC sprint car into the fourth turn wall. The checker and red flag was displayed with the win going to Trenton, NJ driver Mark Bitner as Kevin Welsh finished second. Stellfox did walk away uninjured but was left with a badly damaged sprint car. Curt Michael was penalized two spots for aggressive driving, going from first to third in the final run down. Making up the top five were Bill Brian Jr and Brian Seidel.

Also on the program was the BPG/Chad Sinon Motorsports 358 Non-Winner's Race that was won by Jon Kellner Jr. The Fred's Trailer Parts/Valley Forge INC Non-Winner's race for URC saw rookie driver Davey Sammons take the win.

Paul Weaver was the winner in a twenty-car starting field for the Restored Race cars.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE---THANK YOU

It Was A Good One. . . . . .
BILLY PAUCH UPSETS 410 FIELD, GULER TOPS MODIFIEDS AS SKIAS, ROCHELLE & HALABURA SHARE THE THUNDER ON THE HILL PODIUM TUESDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

Bechtelsville, PA . . . . . .The NAPA Auto Parts/COMDIAL Telephone Communications Thunder on the Hill Racing Series returned to action on Tuesday night with the fans favorite program, the Grandview THUNDER 5-25's. This features only program was a real thriller as one of the largest crowds of the year saw an unbelievable drive by Billy Pauch to win the 410 Sprint feature. In the Modified 25 lap feature, Mike Gular was the winner as Pete Skias won the 600cc Sprint feature, Jason Rochelle was the winner of the Rolling Thunder Legends main event with Travis Halabura winning the 600cc Modified feature. A total purse in excess of $31,000 was distributed with one-hundred and twelve cars competing in the five twenty-five lap features. This was the seventy-third show in the seventeen year history of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series at Grandview Speedway.

You couldn't write a better script for the 410 sprint 25 lap feature event. Billy Pauch of Frenchtown, NJ landed the coveted Al Hamilton sprint car ride just twenty-four hours prior. Pauch, who did not drive a 410 sprint for two seasons, quickly agreed to complete in the event on the "hill". With just three warm-up laps under his belt, Pauch went on to win the 25 lap 410 Sprint feature event that paid $3,500 to the winner.

"This is one of my greatest wins, driving this Al Hamilton sprint car", said a joyous Pauch in victory lane. Car Owner Al Hamilton was thrilled in victory lane as well, telling Pauch he could keep all the winnings. After the drop of the checker flag, Pauch smoked the tires and did a donut spin in turn one, then drove a lap around the one-third mile going the opposite direction. Even the non-Pauch fans were stunned by this unbelievable performance. To add to the story, Pauch started ninth and passed some hefty talent to take the lead with just two laps remaining.

In the 410 Sprint feature, defending race winner Alan Cole of Bloomsburg, PA set the early pace with Doug Esh in the chase and Fred Rahmer third, Blane Heimbach fourth and Lance Dewease fifth. Pauch was on a charge, passing Dewease to take over the fifth spot on lap six. By lap eight, Pauch passed Heimbach and was in fourth, chasing down Fast Freddie Rahmer. Meanwhile, at the front of the pack, Cole was running to hide from the rest of the field. When the field passed on lap eleven, Pauch was third and closing in on Doug Esh.

At the halfway mark, Cole was the leader and Pauch was in second. "I knew I was in second, I just didn't know who was leading, so I just kept pressing on", commented Pauch in victory lane. Pauch finally saw the Cole sprinter on lap sixteen and with each lap, he reeled in the leader. Pauch added, "Al told me I wasn't driving a create of eggs, so don't be afraid to break it".

With five laps to go, Cole and Pauch were weaving through some slower traffic with a clear racing surface ahead. On lap twenty-three, Pauch dove to the inside of Cole and pulled along side of the leader when the red flag was displayed for Davey Sammons who flipped in turn three. The brakes failed and the Sammons sprinter slammed into the fourth turn wall. Sammons walked away uninjured.

Three laps remained when the green flag fell and Alan Cole protected the low groove going into turn one. Pauch placed the right rear tire on Grandview's battered boiler plate outside wall. Out of turn two, Cole and Pauch raced side-by-side with Pauch taking a slight advantage going into turn three. Cole fought back as the leaders charged out of turn four with Pauch having a slight advantage at the flag stand. Pauch took the top spot once and for all exiting turn two and ran unchallenged to his eleventh career Thunder on the Hill sprint car victory. Pauch is now the winningest sprint car driver in Thunder history, breaking the tie with Lance Dewease who also has ten Thunder victories. Pauch took the popular win over Alan Cole, Doug Esh, Fred Rahmer and Lance Dewease.

In the 25 lap NASCAR Modified feature, the caution was displayed before the completion of lap one when Kerry Kratz, Craig VonDohren and Jon Kellner tangled on the backstretch. On the restart, Ryan Watt gunned into the lead over Kevin Hirthler and Mike Gular. Watt remained the leader with Hirthler close in the chase. Jeff Strunk was on a charge and racing in the top five as the field passed on lap ten.

Deep in the pack, Duane Howard was threading his way to the front. At the front of the pack, Watt and Hirthler were in a dog-fight battle for the lead with plenty of lapped traffic just a head. On lap nineteen, Hirthler dove to the inside of Watt to take the lead. Hirthler then came up on lapped traffic and with no where to go, Watt and Hirthler tangled with Hirthler spinning and displaying the caution. Both Hirthler and Watt restarted the race at the rear of the field.

Mike Gular inherited the lead with Jeff Strunk in the runner-up spot and John Willman in third. On the restart, Strunk took the outside lead to challenge for the lead. With Gular down low, Strunk used the top side of the speedway as the duo raced for the lead. On lap twenty-three, the caution was displayed for a four car mix-up on the backstretch.

On the restart, with just two laps to go, Strunk again went to the outside and although he fought for the lead, Gular remained the man to beat. Gular took the win that was worth $2,500, his first ever Thunder on the Hill Series victory. Jeff Strunk was second followed by John Willman, Tom Unberhauer and Shawn Reimert. Duane Howard finished sixth after starting twenty-sixth. Doug Manmiller finished seventh after restarting in the rear of the field due to a flat tire.

The 600cc Modifieds opened the program with Travis Halabura leading the first four laps with Mike Keppler taking the lead on lap five. Keppler held off several challenges by Halabura to the checker flag. In post racing teching, Keppler was disqualified due to a tire pressure infraction, turning the win over to Travis Halabura followed by Tom Martocci, Brian Mandy, John Heagele and Dylan Cisney.

In the Guhl Motors 600cc Sprint feature, Pete Skias of Reading, PA led wire-to-wire, taking the win over Heath Hehnly, Mark Strickler, Brett Arndt and Brett Schoenly.

The Glick Fire Equipment Rolling Thunder Legend's offered a thriller as well with Ronnie Dunstan the early race leader. Dunstan and Jason Rochelle battled for the lead with Rochelle taking the top spot on lap twenty-three. Then from nowhere, Tim Tomson moved into the mix to challenge the leader for the final two circuits. Rochelle held on for the win over Tomson, Ronnie Dunstan, Josh Morrow and Steve Nederostek.

Andy Martin of ARDC was on hand to meet the Grandview fans and took some time to chat about his excitement of returning to race at Grandview on Saturday night, October 14. The ARDC Wingless Midgets will be part of the Grandview Thunder 5-25's. The Phoenixville Quarter Midgets displayed fifty-two of their cars. These drivers, made up of boys and girls between the age of 5-16 had the opportunity to open the Thunder on the Hill program with a pace lap around the one-third mile Grandview Speedway. The fans cheered these racers of the future and drivers were thrilled with their chance to drive on the Grandview high-banks.

Free Camping at Grandview. . . . .
The Battle for the Thunder on the Hill Title Continues on Tuesday, June 27th at Grandview Speedway

The powerful 410 winged sprint cars return the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday, June 27th for the 3rd leg of the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek. This will be the second appearance at Grandview this year for the winged beasts as Donny Schatz turned away Posse hopes of an upset victory in the World of Outlaws event in May. This time the drivers of the Pennsylvania Posse will battle each other in a 35-lap, $5,000 to win showdown!

Leading the drivers the high-banked, one-third mile fast oval will be defending Pennsylvania Speedweek and defending Thunder on the Hill Champion Fred Rahmer. The Salfordville native picked up last year’s titles with the Joe Harz racing team, but has joined forces with the Jim and Sandy Kline Racing #22 for this year and has been re-united with crew chief “Moon” Byers for the 2006 season. Rahmer, who owns 8 career 410 wins at Grandview, will be looking to give Jim and Sandy their first win at Grandview Speedway.

The all-time wins leader for the Thunder on the Hill series, Lance DeWease, will be looking to give Fred and the other drivers all they can handle on June 27th. Lance is also looking to give his car owner, Pete Postupack, a first career win at the Grandview Speedway.

“We tend to gear up for big paying shows. We can normally qualify well and hopefully be up front all week,” he said.

Harrisburg’s Chad Layton will be making his first appearance of the season at Grandview driving Bob Stewart’s Apple Dealerships #12. Layton has run well at Grandview in the past and has claimed a limited sprint car victory at the track, but is still searching for his first 410 victory at the facility. With crew chief Lee Stauffer turning the wrenches, this team has picked up 6 feature wins in Central Pennsylvania this season and shouldn’t be counted out for the Battle on the Hill!

COMDIAL Communications is offering a $200 fast time award for time trial qualifying and an additional $300 if the track record is broken making it possible for a driver to earn $500 from time trials alone! Heat race action and B-Main will conclude the qualifying for the 35-lap shootout on the dirt oval. Other drivers expected to show are Lucas Wolfe, Stevie Smith, Greg Hodnett, Michael Carber, Keith Kauffman, and many other Central Pennsylvania stars.

The ARDC wingless midgets will make their second appearance of the season at Grandview Speedway and will participate in the Easter Seals night display behind the grandstand from 5:30 to 6:30. All fans are encouraged to stop down and support this great cause.

Andy Martin won the last midget show held at Grandview after a last lap pass attempt send Mike Miller air-born and Stevie Buckwalter to the pits. Martin is currently holding an eighty-seven point lead over Steve Lenig in the 2006 ARDC point standings.

Bloomsburg’s Ray Bull is always a threat to win at Grandview. Ray, who is fourth all-time on the ARDC win list and a six-time ARDC champion knows how to conquer the high-banks and find victory lane at Grandview.

Other expected entrants for the ARDC midgets are Frank Polimeda, Donnie Trent, Eric Heydenreich, A.J. Ernesto, and Carey Becker along with several other midget stars.

The Glick Fire Equipment Rolling Thunder Legend Cars will also be on the card with a 20 lap feature of their own. Ronnie Dunstan, Jason Rochelle, Rodney Kistler, Paul Rochelle, and Tim Tomson are just several of the names of the over 20 drivers expected to compete in the show.

Grandview Speedway will be offering FREE camping to all travelers for the PA Speedweek Series. Also making an appearance at Grandview will be Joe the PIZZA DUDE who is known for handing out free pizza to hungry fans who show their spirit.

Advance tickets for the Tuesday, June 27 Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Series event are now on sale. CINDY ROWE AUTO GLASS SPEEDWEEK 2006

COMDIAL Communications to sponsor Fast Time Award for Pennsylvania Speedweek at Grandview Speedway

COMDIAL Communications, a long time supporter of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Series, is adding some extra incentive to this year’s Pennsylvania Speedweek show on the one-third mile. A $200 award will be presented to the driver who turns the fastest lap during Time Trial qualifying, and another $300 if the driver can beat the track record set by Sean Michael on May 26, 2002 at a time of 11.533.

Fayetteville’s Lance DeWease has been one of the top guns over the years when the 410 sprints come to Grandview Speedway for the Thunder on the Hill Series events. Lance holds 10 career victories at the track along with 4 Thunder on the Hill Series championships.

“It’s a fun track to race at. Traffic plays a big role there. Some one might be running away with the show, but once they hit traffic it bunches the field back up and gives everyone a shot to win,” said DeWease. “It’s a real good place to race and we usually gear up for the big money shows.”

Lucas Wolfe of Mechanicsburg, PA has returned to the seat of the Jim and Laura Allebach Racing 5w and is excited to make his first appearance of the season at Grandview.

“It’s got a unique shape to it,” he said. “It’s fun to go to a track that we don’t get to race at that often and we’ve had some good runs there too. We’re looking forward to running there for the Speedweek show.”

Greg Hodnett is also no stranger to the Bechtelsville oval. The Memphis resident wasn’t in the area when the series was founded, but has found a way to make an impact there.

“Grandview kind of reminds me of Riverside Speedway back in Tennessee. It’s a little big bigger, but they are both really fast places to run and they are fun to race on because of the close action. I’ve run well there before and I hope that we can get another good finish during Speedweek.”

Also pre-entered for the race is Stevie Smith in his RAACE Foundation number 19. Originally from New Oxford, PA, Stevie now resides in Broken Arrow, OK. A “true outlaw” Stevie is selectively choosing his schedule this year and June 27 will find him circling the high banks of the Grandview dirt looking for his first win the in the Thunder on the Hill Series. His father, legendary driver Steve Smith, won the first ever Thunder on the Hill show held at Grandview held back in 1990.

The 410 sprint car portion of the show will consist of time trial qualifying, heat races, a B-Main, and a 35-lap, $5,000 to win feature! Some of the expected entrants for the show include Fred Rahmer, Chad Layton, Michael Carber, Mark Coldren, Brian Montieth, and Alan Cole.

Also appearing on Tuesday June 27 will be the ARDC wingless midgets. The popular club has already provided the crowd with some spectacular racing this year with last lap battles and great side-by-side racing. Andy Martin of Gordonville, PA came away with the win in the first appearance of the season at Grandview. The “Royersford Rocket” Steve Buckwalter and car owner Mike Miller staged a two car battle of the final laps of the opening show only to have Miller flip and Buckwalter sent to the rear on the final corner of the final lap handing the win to then third place Andy Martin. Other expected entrants for the show are six-time ARDC champion Ray Bull, Michelle Miller, Donnie Trent, A.J. Ernesto, and Tracy Readinger who competes weekly in the NASCAR modifieds at Grandview Speedway.

Advance tickets for the Tuesday, June 27 Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Series event are now on sale. Adult tickets are $20, children 6-11 are $5 and children under the age of 6 will be admitted free. Tickets will be on sale at the Grandview Speedway on Saturday night, June 9. If you would like to purchase advance tickets by mail, please make your check or money order payable to Grandview Speedway. Mail your payment to: Thunder Series 2006 129 Mill Pond Place Langhorne, PA 19047. Include a self-addressed and stamped envelop and your tickets will be mailed directly to you. Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstand at 5 PM. General admission tickets will go on sale at 5:30 PM.

DEFENDING SPEED WEEK CHAMPION FRED RAHMER LEADS THE PA POSSE TO GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY FOR THE 3RD LEG OF THE CINDY ROWE AUTO GLASS PENNSYLVANIA SPEED WEEK SERIES TUESDAY, JUNE 27TH

Fred Rahmer is no stranger to Grandview Speedway. The Salfordville, PA native has practically owned the track over the years. With 45 wins and 2 track championships in the modified division and 8 wins and 3 Thunder on the Hill titles in the sprints, “Fast Freddie” is the man to beat every time he races at the one-third mile high banked oval. Not only is Rahmer the defending NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Series champion, he is also the defending Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Pennsylvania Speed Week champion. Since the creation of Pennsylvania Speed Week back in 1991, Fred has claimed 27 feature wins and 9 Speed Week championship trophies.

Lance Dewease has also had his share of success at Grandview and during Speed Week. Lance has crossed under the checkered flag first 10 times at Grandview Speedway in the 410 sprints, more than any other driver. Dewease has also won an impressive 14 Speed Week events along with 3 Speed Week titles. His 14 wins and 3 championships rank 2nd only to Rahmer and the current runner-up in the Speed Week Central Pennsylvania Sprint Car Series will look to give Fred all he can handle.

Other expected entrants for the Tuesday, June 27th show presented by Bob Miller and Bruce Rogers and sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts/COMDIAL Telephone Communications are Greg Hodnett, Mark Smith, Chad Layton, Dave Cordier, Jr., Alan Cole, Michael Carber, and Brian Montieth. COMDIAL Telephone Communications will sponsor the Time Trial events, followed by qualifying heats, a B-Main, and a 35-lap $5,000 to win feature.

Also on the card will be the exciting ARDC wingless midgets. The popular club hasn’t failed to put on a thrilling show at Grandview when the wings come off and Tuesday, June 27th should be no different. Already this season at Grandview, Andy Martin came away with the win after race leader Mike Miller and teammate Steve Buckwalter were victims of a last lap crash. A pair of heat races and a 20-lap feature will be on tap for the midgets with Michelle Miller, Donnie Trent, Mike Miller, Steve Buckwalter, Andy Martin, and A.J. Ernesto being just some of the expected competitors.

Thunder on the Hill 17th Season Opener 35 Lap Feature Goes Non-Stop in 8.2 minutes. . . . . .
SCHATZ POCKETS $10,000 FOR WORLD OF OUTLAWS WIN TUESDAY AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA . . . . . . Donny Schatz was awesome, but then the entire Thunder on the Hill racing event at the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night was a crowd pleaser. Schatz of Fargo, ND won the thirty-five lap World of Outlaws sprint feature, taking the lead with just two laps remaining from Daryn Pittman. Schatz collected the $10,000 winner's check for his victory in the non-stop feature that was completed in a record time of 8.2 minutes. Schatz also set fast time with a 12.015 one lap time in the COMDIAL Telephone Communications Time Trials, earning a $200 bonus.

Mother Nature was certainly not nice to this event as numerous rain showers were reported most of the day throughout the area, including a ten minute downpour that arrived at the Grandview Speedway around 4 PM. The Grandview Speedway track crew, led by speedway owner Bruce Rogers, worked their magic to deliver an outstanding, near perfect racing surface. World of Outlaws officials were very complimentary of the track crew for their work done to deliver such a surface.

A field of thirty-three 410 sprint cars turned out for the event with heat race victories going to Brian Carlson of Linden, IN, Greg Hodnett of Memphis, TN, Fred Rahmer of Salfordsville, PA, and Dave Cordier of Shoemakersville, PA as Chad Kemenah of Findlay, OH won the 12 lap "B" Main.

The NAPA Auto Parts 35 lap World of Outlaws sprint feature was a thriller with Brooke Tatnell taking the lead at the drop of the green flag. Daryn Pittman and Jac Haudenschild were close in the chase with Craig Dollansky following in fourth.

Pittman began to close the gap on Tatnell when mechanical problems sent the leader to the pits, turning the lead over to Pittman. Haudenschild was on the move with Dollansky in the chase as well. Also on a charge to the front was Donny Schatz, now racing in fourth on lap ten.

Dollansky and Schatz were in a heated battle as they passed Haudenschild to move into second and third. At the halfway point, Pittman remained the leader over Craig Dollansky, Donny Schatz, Jac Haudenschild and Joey Saldana.

The leaders quickly came-up on slower traffic and it became obvious that they could have an impact on the race leaders. Pittman, Dollansky, Schatz and Haudenschild were now racing under a blanket for the lead. On lap twenty-three, Schatz passed Dollansky for the runner-up spot and the World of Outlaws point leader now had just one car to pass to collect the $10,000 payoff.

Schatz appeared to be quicker through turns three and four as Pittman had the advantage in one and two. With five laps remaining, Pittman found more lapped traffic and Schatz was gaining ground. Then a mix-up with slower traffic forced Pittman to check-up, opening the door for Schatz to go full throttle into the lead with just two laps remaining. Pittman regained momentum now in second but just short of time to stage a challenge for the lead.

With the checker flag waiving, Schatz darted across the line, completing the 35 laps in a non-step record time of 8.2 minutes. For his efforts, Schatz earned $10,000. Daryn Pittman of Osasso, OK finished second with Craig Dollansky of Elk River, MN third, Jack Haudenschild fourth and Joey Saldana fifth.

Although it was predicted by the Thunder on the Hill race fans that one of the PA Posse drivers would win this event, their best representation was Greg Hodnett who finished sixth after starting deep in the pack. Fred Rahmer finished seventh with Lance Dewease ninth.

FEATURE FINISH: Donny Schatz, Daryn Pittman, Craig Dollansky, Jac Haudenschild, Joey Saldana, Greg Hodnett, Fred Rahmer, Terry McCarl, Lance Dewease, Randy Hannagan, Jason Martin, Alan Cole, Jeremy Campbell, Mark Smith, Chad Kemenah, Michael Carber, Justin Henderson, Dion Hindi, Tony Bruce, Todd Shaffer, Becca Anderson, Brian Carlson, Brooke Tatnell, Dave Cordier. DNQ- -Alan Krimes, Sam Schlosberg, Josh Weller, Bob Beidleman, Bill Rose, Judi Bates, Dave Hahn, Phil Weinsteiger.

ANDY MARTIN WINS ARDC WINGLESS FEATURE THRILLER AT GRANDVIEW

It all came down to the last lap, almost a story book ending. But not the kind of ending race leader Mike Miller or his challenger Steve Buckwalter wanted. For Andy Martin, he was in the right place at the right time. It all happened like this. Mike Miller took the lead at the drop of the green flag and set the pace through most of the 20 lap feature event. In the close five laps, Miller had company with Steve Buckwalter, Tracy Readinger and Frank Polimeda now in the chase.

With just two laps to go, Miller was holding off his challengers and doing a pretty good job of it. With the white flag waiving, Buckwalter was looking for the groove to make his move. Going into turn three Buckwalter took the deep inside lane and coming off turn four, race leader Mike Miller and Buckwalter tangled with Miller taking a series of wild flips, displaying the red flag.

The good new is, Mike Miller walked away uninjured from this spectacular last lap flip. For Buckwalter, he was sent to the pits by ARDC Officials for inconsiderate driving and for Andy Martin, he moved from third to the lead with one lap still remaining in the feature race.

With the green flag waiving, Martin gunned away from the rest of the field with Palimeda in second and Readinger in third. Martin dashed under the wire for the win followed by Frank Polimeda, Tracy Readinger, Billy Pauch Jr. and Dustin Morgan.

FEATURE FINISH: Andy Martin, Frank Polimeda, Tracy Readinger, Billy Pauch Jr., Dustin Morgan, Dave Shirk, Donnie Trent, A.J. Ernesto, Carey Becker, Ray Bull, Steve Lenig, Shawn Burke, Bobby Goerner, Mick Sean, Stephanie Stevens, Ginny Quinones, Chris Zrinski, Kathy Kurtz, Steve Buckwalter, Michele Miller, Mike Miller, P.J. Gargiulo, Ryan Smith, Danny Stratton, Scott Zipp. ARDC Wingless Midget Heat Race Winners: Tracy Readinger and Mike Miller.
