Lakeville Speedway owner Bob Schippers and Wayne County Speedway owner Ernie Coffman ink the deal for the 2007 Big 8 Series of races for Super Late Models and Sprint Cars as well as a new Big 4 Series for Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks.

Wayne County/Lakeville Join Forces For Big 8 Series Spectacular

By Doc Lehman

Orrville, OH --- With the calendar ready to change over to 2007 race fans and teams in north central Ohio have another reason to celebrate as two popular dirt tracks have entered into a new era of mutual cooperation with the announcement that Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH and Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH will join forces for a series of special events that could find a Super Late Model and a Sprint Car driver either $25,000 or even $50,000 richer with the formation of the Big 8 Series for both Super Late Models and Sprint Cars. Additionally, both tracks will also produce a Big 4 Series for Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks.

For years Lakeville Speedway has produced their Big 4 Series of races for Super Late Models but in 2007 there will be a twist as Wayne County Speedway will partner up on the same weekend with the same format and payoff. Additionally, both tracks will also host a Big 8 Series for Sprint Cars on different weekends. Also being scheduled will be two Big 4 Series events for Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks and each race will pay the winner $1,000.

“I honestly think it’s a thing we have to do to keep racing healthy,” stated Ernie Coffman, owner & promoter at Wayne County Speedway. “Tracks have got to work together. (Lakeville owner) Bob (Schippers) and I have not been friends in the past but we have put our differences aside for dirt racing and we’re getting together and making something good.”

“And were doing it the right way by having each Big 8 Series as well as the Big 4 Series weekends at both tracks the same weekend. You can run at Lakeville on Friday night and then head up to Wayne County for Saturday night.”

“It’s really good,” added Bob Schippers, owner & promoter of Lakeville Speedway. “It’s taken awhile for someone who wanted to stay and work it out at the same time. Wayne County has been through a few different owners the past ten years or so and I always wanted to work together but I wanted to make sure they had their heart in it and I believe Ernie does have his heart in it with that race track and I think both will flourish pretty well with what’s going on.”

One aspect that will attract the attention of race teams is the phenomenal bonus program Wayne County and Lakeville have agreed upon. If one Late Model and/or Sprint Car driver wins four of the eight Big 8 Series events that driver will earn a $25,000 bonus. Coffman and Schippers have also implemented a $50,000 bonus program if any Late Model or Sprint Car driver wins five of the races.

“I think what we will do here is basically, and there could be some changes to this, but if you win four it’s a $25,000 bonus,” explained Coffman. “And if you’re the guy who won four and want to go for five you give up your $25,000 and go for the $50,000. And that $50,000 could be bigger. But this is going to happen for the Late Model and Sprint Car deal.”

“I think it will be really good for the racers and fans,” interjected Schippers. “We have a good group of fans in this entire region, we have plenty of fans for these two race tracks to get strong crowds. And fans won’t have to spend $20 to get in. We think the drivers will like this especially with the bonus money.”

The Big 8 Series for Super Late Models and Sprint Cars at each track will be held over four weekends during the 2007 racing season with dates and details to be announced in the near future including a huge Labor Day weekend extravaganza. Additionally the Big 4 Series for Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks will be held over two weekends this summer with dates to be announced shortly.

“I’m really excited about this thing,” commented Coffman. “We have to make it exciting for the fans and racers. I’m pumped up about the deal, I really am.”

Schippers, like Coffman, sees this as a new era of cooperation between the two tracks and are looking long-term to continue building upon this concept. “It’s going to continue and this will work out excellent for Lakeville and Wayne County,” said Schippers. “Drivers will know what to expect, they’ll run for good purses and they will be held on the same weekend.”

Wayne County Speedway ‘Adopts’ Children For Holidays

Orrville, OH --- Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH and Wayne County Children Services have teamed up for the holidays to present the Christmas Make-A-Wish Program that will help provide an extra special Christmas morning for several children in the Wayne County area. The ‘adopted’ families & children have already been selected. Drivers, fans, car owners, staff and sponsors are encouraged to participate in the program. The collection will take place on Sunday December 3 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM EST at the race track.

“Over the years you have generously contributed to the cause of helping children or someone in need and that's what makes the sport we love so awesome,” stated Tina Heil, General Manager of WCS. “We are fierce competitors on the track but more importantly a close knit ‘racing family’ when it comes to helping others.”

“With the holidays upon us we are all looking forward to sharing special moments with the ones we love. We head out in the ‘hustle and bustle’ to buy our children the perfect gift and look so forward to seeing the looks on their faces when they tear through the wrapping on Christmas morning.”

“Not all parents have the luxury of providing that for their children so we have decided to pull our resources together to help three families this Christmas season with the help of the Wayne County Children's Services. If you could help in some small way, whether it be a monetary donation or purchase an item of clothing, a toy or even food and personal items, we can make a difference for these families.”

“Imagine the looks on their faces when a bundle from the Wayne County Speedway is delivered to their doorsteps.”

Below is a list of our "adopted" families. It has been prepared by the families’ case worker and items are listed in order by need.

Family #1 (Blended family with both parents working. They are able to maintain their bills, but lack the extra money for household goods and the daily necessities)

A. Tariq - Boy Age 4: Clothing - Pant/Shirt Size 5, Shoe Size 11 (needs jeans and

”Because we are making this call out to many people, duplicates may be an issue,” added Heil. “Please place your tags and receipts in an envelope with the child's name on the front of it (for the Caseworker's eyes ONLY). This way if there is duplication or improper fit, the item can be exchanged.”

“I imagine we could receive more donations than 3 families will need, if that happens, we will match presents up with other needy children. Below is the list of families we are helping. Please open the attached documents for delivery information and also a list of gift suggestions provided by Children Services.”

“Thank you so much for your help and Happy Holidays to each and every one of
you!”

WCS Drivers Meetings Positive & Productive

Orrville, OH --- This past Sunday for nearly eight hours drivers, team owners & crews along with Wayne County Speedway staff members met in the conference room at Maibach Ford in Orrville, OH and participated in day-long driver meetings in preparation for the 2007 racing season and by all accounts it appeared the meetings to discuss and decide on various issues were positive allowing WCS management to now focus on the 2007 racing season that will include Super Late Models, Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Pure Stocks & Mini Stocks.

“I am truly amazed and darn happy how everything went Sunday,” stated Ernie Coffman, owner & promoter of WCS. “We got a lot of work done, the teams definitely gave their input and for the most part they have made their decisions on how they want certain rules and regulations laid out for next year by their votes. I’m excited about the upcoming season.”

Drivers in all five divisions attended their respective meeting and discussions ensued about a variety of matters such as purse redistribution, formats and race car specifications.

One item discussed with all five divisions was the use of one-way communication devices to help speed the show along and correct line-ups on the track more swiftly. A majority of teams voted in favor of using one-way communication devices and track management will make their final decision in the near future.

With the return of the Sprint Cars drivers voted on a variety of issues including passing the rule of using the same tire a driver qualifies on in their heat and feature. There will be no tire rule specifying a certain brand. Sprint Car drivers also voted for a 1375-pound rule with driver and no wickerbills will be permitted. Drivers also voted to institute the All Stars wing and muffler rules.

The Modified division voted on allowing a bead lock on the right front while the Pure Stock teams voted to allow teams to fabricate their own bodies but steel must be utilized. The Pure Stock carburetor claim was also raised to $300.

Drivers are also encouraged to send in their registrations as soon as possible. No registrations will be accepted on opening day. The WCS Driver Registration form, found on the WCS website, needs to be filled out and sent in with a $35.00 registration fee prior to opening night.

Response Overwhelmingly Positive To Sprints At WCS in ‘07

Orrville, OH --- When management of Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH held an exploratory meeting with Sprint Car drivers and team owners on October 24 they entered the meeting with some trepidation regarding what kind of response they would receive. It was for naught as the meeting surpassed all expectations and was a positive and enlightening evening that subsequently found management making the decision to bring back Sprint Cars to the popular 3/8 mile banked oval on a weekly basis in 2007. What management also didn’t really expect was the overwhelming positive response that decision would bring from not only teams and race fans in the region but from also across the country.

“I still having a hard time believing the response from everyone, it's been so positive and everyone is so excited about it,” stated Tina Heil, General Manager of WCS. “I'm getting email every day, from business men, car owners, drivers and fans showing their appreciation of what we're doing and that's exciting.”

“Was this the right decision? Absolutely without a doubt in my mind!”

With Sprint Car racing struggling in some areas of the country, WCS owner & promoter Ernie Coffman made a three-year commitment to the division in hopes of building it long term at his track and the response from within the industry was immediate and positive as well.

”Sprint car racing is one of the most exciting forms of motorsports out there and for Wayne County Speedway to bring Sprint Cars back into its weekly program is a bonus for all the fans who attend the weekly events,” commented Chris Dolack, Vice-President of Public Relations for DIRT Motorsports and the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. “With so many of the legends in the sport having raced there in the past and living nearby, like Brad Doty and Jac Haudenschild, it's a great chance for the next wave of superstars to get their starts at a place that helped to launch the careers of so many others.”

“Whether the sprint cars at Wayne County run under in a sanctioned event or during a weekly race, merely having them back and racing weekly is a big step forward.”

Dolack wasn’t alone in his excitement that WCS was backing the Sprint Car division.

“It is very exciting news, especially at a time when we are all-too-frequently losing weekly winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car tracks,” offered Tom Schmeh, the Executive Director of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa.

“I believe this means that Wayne County Speedway will be the 21st weekly winged '410' track in the nation. Incredibly, five of those tracks are in the Buckeye State alone. And twelve are in the Pennsylvania/Ohio region, with 15 of the total 21 located east of the Mississippi River!”

Regional response has also been extremely favorable. “I am glad to see the Sprints come back,” said Jim Figley, Team Manager for Eric ‘Spud’ Myers Racing, a dirt Late Model team. Figley formerly spent many years working for such Sprint Car stars as Dean Jacobs, Rocky Hodges and others. “Wayne County Speedway is trying things that they feel will work best for everybody!”

“I think this is very smart,” commented Colleen Latsch, a former WCS staff member and wife of retired Sprint Car driver Mike Latsch, the 1987 WCS Sprint Car champion. “There are many Sprint Cars in this area or those having the parts to build one up to run locally again. With a no engine limit, there should be a good selection of cars who need a place to run locally.”

“I know people who no longer attend the local tracks as they do not run Sprints.
Wayne County always had a good solid core of weekly sprint cars who put on an exciting show for the fans. I have heard several including myself say I do not mind the admission price as long as I can see both Sprints and Late Models on the evenings program.”

“I’m happy to see that they are coming back,” added long time race fan Gary Baker.

Even WCS staff members are looking forward to the 2007 with the addition of Sprint Cars as co-headliners with the Super Late Models. “It’s great to hear the Sprints are coming back in 2007,” said Al Hutchsion, Jr., a photographer. “I grew up at Wayne
County watching Sprints and Late Models and I sure have missed them these past
three years. They put on a heck of a show when they returned one night this
year. Great news to hear they are coming back. I’m really ready to take
some photos now!”

Sprint Cars Return To WCS Every Saturday Night in 2007

Orrville, OH --- Sprint Cars will return to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH on a weekly basis for the 2007 racing season track management announced after an exploratory meeting of Sprint Car drivers and team owners that was held on Wednesday evening October 24. Wayne County Speedway owner & promoter Ernie Coffman made a three-year commitment to bring the Sprint Cars back and build the base. Sprint Cars will join the Super Late Models as dual headliners at the popular 3/8 mile banked dirt oval that runs on Saturday nights.

“There is no doubt we made the right decision after the meeting tonight,” stated Coffman Tuesday evening. Over 60 people and 23 race teams were represented. “It was a very positive meeting. It was amazing. It will definitely be good for the crowd count at the track, too.”

“I am thrilled about it,” added Tina Heil, General Manager of Wayne County Speedway. “I am not only excited to have the Sprints back but it will be a positive for the track. There was nothing negative about this meeting. Everyone that was there wants to race at Wayne County Speedway and they all want to work together to do it. When you get 60 people in a room and get positive responses and agreement, that’s what its all about.”

Track management will run the basic car specifications and rules used by the All Star Circuit of Champions and other Ohio race tracks and will not designate any specific engine rule.

“We just want Sprint Cars each week,” commented Coffman. “As long as it has four wheels and a wing we don’t care what size engine is under the hood. To us a Sprint Car is a Sprint Car.”

Track management conducted a marketing survey during the latter part of the 2006 racing season and found that an overwhelming amount of race fans had indicated they wanted the Sprint Cars to return.

“We have to, and we do listen to our fans,” said Coffman. “With the Sprint Cars returning it will be like it was for many years at Wayne County Speedway with two top headlining divisions each week. Add our terrific support classes and the race fans will definitely get more bang for their buck each week.”

Track management made a three-year commitment to run the Sprint Cars in order to give the division a chance to grow at the track. That commitment from track management along with a preliminary discussion on rules caused the vast majority of drivers and team owners in attendance to show their support.

“I think it will be good,” said Clint Coffman, a partner in the track with his father and a weekly Super Late Model competitor. “I think anytime you can have two premier divisions its good for the race track. I think having the Sprint Cars back will be fantastic.”

“I didn’t think we’d get the response we got, it was great,” interjected Chuck Griffith, track announcer who was also in attendance. “I think the blessing we got is Ernie, Clint & Tina listen to the fans. My hats off to the entire management and staff for listening to the fans and giving them what they want.”

High-profile sanctioned Sprint Car shows is also being considered for the 2007 racing season and the traditional Monday night Pete Jacobs Memorial during the annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek will return.

A special meeting for the Sprint Car drivers and team owners will be held next month to discuss and verify rules and procedures. Details will be released soon.

Sprint Car Meeting On Tap For WCS October 24

Orrville, OH --- Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH management would like to remind the Sprint Car industry that the track is exploring the possibility of adding Sprint Cars to their weekly schedule in 2007 and in order to gauge interest, feasibility and support track management will be holding a special meeting for all interested Sprint Car drivers, team owners and sponsors. The meeting will be held on Tuesday evening October 24 at the Royal Star Motel Conference Room beginning at 6:30 PM EST.

WCS management has already gotten feedback since the meeting was first announced a couple weeks ago.

”I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get a good turn out on Tuesday,” commented Tina Heil, General Manager of WCS. “I've had a few good phone calls and email from drivers and car owners that are in support of what we are trying to do. I've also had very good meetings with a couple business owners that are very willing to support our efforts as well.”

“We want to be a premier race track and adding the sprints to our already strong program is a step in that direction. But... there is a whole lot more that goes along with this. Just like NASCAR, we need the support from not only the drivers, car owners and fans, we need the support of our community. Wayne County Speedway is working very hard to implement programs to work with the local businesses and non-profit organizations that will allow us to bring the kind of shows to Wayne County Ohio that you would typically have to travel 2 - 4 hours to see.”

“We can't bring you NASCAR but we will certainly bring you the best dirt track racing in the nation that's fun for the whole family and it' affordable!”

The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the Royal Star Motel located at 11980 East Lincoln Way south of Orrville. The motel is located at the corner of U.S. 30 and Rt. 57 (Riceland) just around the corner (east) from Wayne County Speedway. Attendees are encouraged to park in the front of the building. The entrance to the Conference Room is located on the east side of the building.

WCS Signs Major Corporate Marketing Deal With Federated Auto Parts

Orrville, OH --- A major multi-year corporate marketing agreement has been signed by Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH with Federated Auto Parts that will see the two entities enter into a long term marketing and promotional partnership at the 3/8 mile banked dirt oval. Wayne County Speedway just completed its successful 41st season of presenting dirt track racing every Saturday night.

“This is big, really big,” stated Ernie Coffman, owner & promoter of Wayne County Speedway. “This is a major, major marketing agreement and we will be working in tandem with the great folks at Federated Auto Parts over the next several years to bring race fans and race teams some exciting promotions.”

“Here in Ohio there are dirt tracks, asphalt tracks and drag strips all in their target area yet Federated Auto Parts have chosen to work and partner with Wayne County Speedway to market their products in addition to their Car Care Centers. That says a lot about what Wayne County Speedway is doing in terms of growth and the track’s philosophy.”

Formed in 1985, Federated Auto Parts has now become the fastest growing auto parts distribution network in the nation. Presently there are over 3,800 Federated Auto Parts stores nationwide and that number is growing. The company, through Pat Young Service Company, will take a prominent role in promotions at the popular north central Ohio dirt race track.

“We’re excited and I’m looking forward to the revamping of the racetrack and the attraction I think that (WCS General Manager) Tina Heil and the Coffman’s have in bringing a wider variety of people coming to the race track and their dedication to the sport,” commented John Pisani, a Federated Auto Parts executive. “And moreover I think we’re excited about offering our focus to local events moreover than national. I think that’s where it’s at for us.”

“There is nothing like sponsoring local events and I got to know the racers and the people and the Coffman family and Tina and it was just a good situation for us all the way around.”

“I’m thrilled about this partnership with Federated for several reasons,” interjected WCS General Manager Tina Heil. “For one, it means we’re doing the right things at Wayne County Speedway and they want to be a part of it. They are smart business people and they see that investing in Wayne County Speedway will help to not only grow their business but it offers them a lot of unique ways to reach their target market and then some. Secondly, they love our track as much as we do. They want to take an active role in the things we will be doing over the next few years and that’s the most exciting part about this whole deal!”

“As I look at this partnership I can envision big things over the years. But I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet! It’s just an exciting time for everyone at Wayne County Speedway. Even though the ’06 season is over, ’07 is right around the corner and who knows what you’ll see in the next 6 months!”

Management from both hinted at big things happening at the racetrack the next several years and Federated Auto Parts are looking at taking an active role in special promotions and growth.

“We’re looking more at entertainment at the race track for our needs,” explained Pisani. “We’re going to try and bring more people into our Car Care Centers. Tina and Ernie and Clint (Coffman), they are very focused on the future and what I like about them is they listen to us, they listen to suggestions and they take suggestions. They are interested in growing the race track but it’s not a one way street with just how they want to do it. It’s their dedication to their sponsors and racers.”

The tremendous growth of Federated Auto Parts is due in part to the company’s firm commitment to provide both the trained professional and the do-it-yourselfer with the best known quality products at the most competitive prices. The Federated Auto Parts customers are assisted by experienced counter professionals who are frequently retrained to accommodate evolving technologies in the automotive aftermarket.

To further this commitment, Federated Auto Parts have negotiated with America’s top automotive part manufacturers to offer their products, which meet or exceed O.E.M. specifications, to be part of Federated’s program. This ensures the customer that they are getting the highest quality parts available. Federated offers virtually every part needed for repair or maintenance, from your personal automobile to the fleet service of larger companies. Whether you need a replacement part or merely a product to improve the vehicle’s performance or appearance, stop in and check out the Federated Auto Parts store near you.

Pat Young Service Company is a seventy-five year old company providing service to the automotive aftermarket of Northern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and Southern Michigan. The main warehouse in Avon Ohio works around-the-clock shifts and delivery trucks to offer daily service to over 2000 customers as well as provide a transfer/replenish system to its satellite warehouses. Pat Young’s nine locations amass over 150,000 square feet of warehouse space and house in excess of nine million dollars worth of inventory.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Wayne County & Hilltop Join Forces For Weekend Extravaganza

Orrville, OH --- Race fans and drivers will be able to close out the summer season in a big way at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH and Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH this weekend when both tracks join forces for three consecutive days of Super Late Model racing that will bring some of the midwest’s top drivers together in north central Ohio for three separate programs and a big money payoff. Wayne County Speedway will run two separate events on Friday and Saturday September 1 & 2 while Hilltop Speedway will move from it’s regular Friday night slot to Sunday September 3 for an extra money special event.

“I’m excited that we have three days of local racing where we don’t have to travel hours away from home and our local fan base can follow us all three nights like a mini-traveling series,” commented driver George ‘The General’ Lee. Lee competes in his Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines #21 sponsored by Cowen Trucklines, Bert Transmission, Brazwell Carb, Brad Penn & Afco Racing Products.

“And we have two local tracks, finally, after all these years, finally working together. We’ve said it for years as racers, why can’t more tracks do this? This will be a plus for everybody. We’ll be at Wayne County for two nights, plus they have that bonus and I can’t wait to take it home (laughs)! And then to Hilltop which is a great racy track and I can’t wait to get down there.”

Lee isn’t alone in expressing his pleasure that there will be a full weekend of racing for increased purses and exposure without traveling across the state or out-of-state. “ Yes, I like the idea that the tracks are working together,” stated Flyin’ Ryan Markham, a multi-titled WCS champion who is currently leading the Hilltop Speedway point chase. Markham drives the Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines #5m sponsored by Biscotti’s Restaurant, Stu’s Place & Dor Lo Pizza. “I wish all three of the local tracks could do stuff together. I wish that we had more $2,000 to win races in the area.”

“One good thing to see is there is two local tracks working together and that’s great for the local racers,” added Doug Drown, who has wins at both tracks this season. Drown drives the Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance Parts/Hamlin Automotive/Malcuit Racing Engines/Mason Racin/Bert Transmission/Hoosier Tire/Genesis Racing Shocks/ Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12. “Now we don’t have to drive three or four hours for a bigger race. For us to have this much money up for grabs this close to home is great. Hopefully the owners will keep working together.”

And then there is the matter of the $25,000 bonus going to the driver who can win at WCS on Friday & Saturday nights. In addition to the $2,500 and $5,000 payoffs each night, if one driver can pull off two wins this weekend at WCS they will collect the Orry Wirt Memorial $25,000 Driver Challenge and all drivers are taking note of that fact.

“My chances are just as good as anyone else’s,” said Lee. “When you pull into Wayne County you have to have your game on, you have to be focused and be ready. You cannot have mistakes. It’s going to be some action packed racing. You put that big of a carrot in front of us and were going after that carrot. It will be an awesome weekend for the fans and I can’t wait.”

“As far as the 25k bones I have been running in top three or four all year,” commented Markham who, like Drown, has scored wins at both tracks this summer. “My chances are good. I am going to run this weekend like any other that we race though.”

“We have a good team obviously, especially the crew and I think we have good confidence, we run well at both tracks,” said Drown. “Now it’s a matter of showing up and being on our ‘A’ game that night. Hopefully things will work out and we’ll get a win or two.”

WCS presents the Inaugural Summer Sizzler Clash, a two-day, two-program racing extravaganza that will close out summer on Labor Day weekend with the possibility of one Super Late Model driver having a chance to take home $33,500 for the weekend. On Friday September 1 WCS will host the 11th Annual Pete Jacobs Memorial followed by the 3rd Annual Freedom Fighters 50 on Saturday evening September 2. Additionally, one fan will go home with a Corvette and one fan may go home $25,000 richer.

On Friday September 1 the 11th Annual Pete Jacobs Memorial will be held with Super Late Models headlining in a $2,500 to win main event. Additionally, the Inaugural Ken Jacobs Memorial Dash will be held for the top six qualifiers with $1,000 going to the winner of the six-lap dash race. Also appearing that evening will be Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks and the popular Faster Pastor grand finale and a special autograph session with drivers like Blaine Aber, Doug Drown, Clint Coffman, Eric Smitley & many, many others.

On Saturday September 2 the 3rd Annual Freedom Fighters 50 will be staged featuring the Super Late Models in a $5,000 to win main event along with the Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks. WCS promoter Ernie Coffman has also instituted a bonus program, the Orry Wirt Memorial Driver Challenge where if one Late Model driver wins the features on Friday night and Saturday night, they will earn a $25,000 bonus! Additionally, we’re going to have a program where one lucky fan has the chance to win $25,000 also if the fan who is chosen at random can match up to the top two finishers in Saturday night’s Freedom Fighters 50 race.

Orry Wirt was the 15-year old crewmember and son of WCS Super Late Model driver Dave Wirt who tragically lost his life last April in a traffic accident.

On Sunday September 3 Hilltop Speedway will present the Sunday Sizzler featuring a 35-lap, $2,500 to win main event for Super Late Models along with support divisions Modifieds, Mini Stocks and Mini Trucks. Gates will open at 3:00 PM with racing at 6:00 PM. Hilltop, which just opened this past spring after 31 years of being dormant, will have extra parking and grandstand seating in place for the Sunday Sizzler.

But that’s not all! On Saturday the 2nd Annual WCS Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held in addition to one lucky fan taking home a 1974 Corvette. “It’s a 1974 classic big block 454 T-top Corvette and she’s worth about $25,000 - $28,000,” explained Ernie Coffman, owner of WCS and Coffman Corvette. “Its got new paint, new interior, new brakes, new tires and the nice part of this is a lot of people got on board and fixed us up with the stuff to restore it.”

A dozen prominent individuals that have spent years and decades participating at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH will be recognized and honored on Saturday September 2 when they are inducted at the 2nd Annual Wayne County Speedway Hall of Fame ceremony that will take place prior to race time for the 3rd Annual Freedom Fighters 50.

Honorees being inducted include drivers Blaine Aber, Jim Case, Jeff Drown, Marriann Jacobs, Dave Ledford, Wayne Maffett, Sr., and Brad Malcuit. Being inducted in the Fan category will be James Gentry, Sr. while the Car Owner category inductee will be Bob Mullens. Those named into the Staff category include Glen ‘Calhoun’ Davisson, Gary McKisson and Bob McGovern.
