Oley PA’s #114 Duane Howard and the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Big Block Modified
Dominate the Bridgeport Atlantic Coast weekend. Sweeps both the 50 lap Big Block
and Small Block Modified features on the FAST dry slick 5/8’s clay oval. Duane
Howard racked up 2 more Bridgeport big event features totaling 5 for the season.
“I really like it here, I still call it my home” says Howard on the winners podium. “I had a lucky weekend, starting up front really helps on a day race like this” explains Howard to announcer Jeff Ahlum as he accepts his 2nd big payday check.
Duane’s dart found the balloon carrying the 1 starting spot for the
feature redraw to start on the pole of the Atlantic Coast 50 lap feature at
Bridgeport speedway on Sunday. At the drop of the green with Howard on the pole
and #0 of Doug Hoffman sitting on the outside, Howard quickly jumped to the
front of the field with #0 Doug Hoffman, #51m of Keith Hoffman, #711 of Mike
Iles and #901 Richie Pratt rounding out the top 5. Several early race yellows
bunched up the field but Howard was able to hold of any restart challenges in
order to stay out front. Billy Pauch capitalized on the restarts to quickly move
into the top 6 from his 9th starting spot. The battle on the track became the
Hoffman & Hoffman show as brothers Keith and Dough put on a 2 wide show dueling
for the 2nd spot till lap 10. Keith wins the battle as #85 of Wade Hendrickson
soon jumps into the mix passing #51m of Hoffman to take the second spot in turns
1&2 as Brother Doug gets a soft right rear. A yellow flies on lap 11 for a 4 car
tangle involving #43 of Jimmy Horton IV, #92 of Scott Irwin, #44 of Jimmy
Chester and the #11A of Jim Wyers in turns 3&4. On the lap 11 restart, Howard is
still the leader with Hendrickson now in 2nd, Keith Hoffman 3rd, #901 of Richie
Pratt Jr 4th and #1 of Billy Pauch 5th. Howard jumps back out to the lead with
Hendrickson & Pratt following single file. Pauch and Pratt exit 4 2-wide down
the fronts stretch going into turns 1&2 side by side. Another yellows drops from
a 3-wide situation between #19 of Brian Kressley, #711x of Eric Kormann in the
Iles back up and Ron Robert’s #14. Roberts gets the short end on the stick on
the turn 2 exit clipping the front stretch outside wall bringing out yet another
yellow. #0 of Hoffman makes it back out onto the track changing a right rear
before the new yellow flies to join the rear of the field. For the restart of
lap 12, Howard continues as leader followed by Hendrickson and Hoffman. Pauch
and Pratt continue to 2wide battle off the corners with Pauch coming out ahead
bring with him #126 of Jeff strung into the top 5 sending Pratt back to 6th.
Field gets bunched up again for a spinning #7A of Chic Cossaboone in turn 3.
Race restarts on lap 13 with a battle now forming with the now hard charging
Strunk all over Pauch taking him 2wide in the corners. Pratt continues to slip
back as #27 of Steve Bottcher and now fast charging Doug Hoffman moving back
into the top 7 passing Pratt on the back stretch. By lap 15 Howard has opened up
a 3/4 track lead on the field . The real race is now between Hendrickson in 2nd,
Keith Hoffman in 3rd and Strunk. Strunk starts to make his presence known as he
is all over Hoffman at this point looking for the 3rd spot. Hoffman and Strunk
are now nose to tail entering lap 19 as Strunk looks to make his move. Heading
into turn 3, Strunk dives in low and finally makes his pass on Hoffman for 3rd
on lap 20. Howard starts to hit lap traffic on lap 23. Things start to get
interesting as Howard tries to lap #711 of Iles and rear damaged #44 of Chester
as they are fighting 2wide around the track for position. Howard tries
desperately to look for a hole between the two for the next 2 laps. The slug
fest between Iles and Chester if front of Howard gives Wade Hendrickson some
track to start running down the leader Howard. Chester finally gets the position
on Iles and Howard quickly makes the pass Iles on lap 30. Howard meanwhile has
his hands full trying to pass Chester to put him a lap down so he can open up
his lead on a now hard charging Hendrickson who is driving him down. With
Hendrickson gaining, Strunk has now run down Hendrickson in the 3rd spot and the
2 are nose to tail. Howard finally gets a run on a damaged Chester and pulls of
the pass on lap 34. Howard and Strunk have now closed to within 6 car lengths
but they are no match for Howard who takes the opportunity passing Chester to
once again check out on the field. Hendrickson now has to worry about Strunk who
is all over his tail going into lap 40. Strunk tries several times to get inside
runs on Hendrickson but the Flyin Farmer is able to hold him off. Howard easily
races to the Checkered for his 5th big event Bridgeport win of the season.
Howard lapped all but the top 6 as he collects his second “Big Check “of the
day. Hendrickson holds off Strunk for 2nd, Keith Hoffman 4th and Billy Pauch
holds on the 5th spot. Doug Hoffman gets the hard charger award for starting on
the front row, getting a flat, starting back at the rear and racing back to a
top 6 finish.
Duane Howard races to an easy win in the Bridgeport Atlantic Coast 50 Small
Block Feature event on Bridgeport’s FAST 5/8’s mile clay oval.
Frenchtown NJ’s #11D of Billy Pauch Jr. won the draw for the pole with Oley PA’s #4 of Duane Howard starting on the outside. Pauch Jr. quickly jumps out to the lead as the green flag drops. #1c of Craig VonDohren jumps into the 2nd position as the #4 of Howard and #711 of Mike Iles battle for the 3&4th spots. Von Dohren quickly starts running the hi line he has begins his chase on Pauch Jr. The 1st yellow flies on lap 2 for a spinning #20 of Troy Gibson bunching the field back up for a restart. On the green, Pauch Jr is the leader with Von Dohren 2nd, #711 Iles 3rd, #4 Howard 4th and #27 of Chad James 5th. Pauch Jr quickly resumes his lead with the big battle on the track now between Iles and Howard. The two slug it out 2wide at both ends of the speedway until Howard finally gets a run on Iles going into lap 4 with an inside pass on the turn 4 exit. Pauch has now opened up a 7 car lead as VonDohren continues to work the outside line hoping to gain some track. As Von Dohren works his highline, Howard starts running him down and is all over his tail by lap 5. The two continue to battle for the 2nd spot until lap14 when Howard take CVD inside 2wide to take the 2nd spot away in turns 3-4. By 18 Pauch Jr has a 10+ car length lead on 2nd as Howard tries to run him down. The new battle on the track is now between the #1of Pauch Sr and #27 of Chad James. The 2 are slugging it out till lap 21 when James gets a run on Pauch for the pass in turns 1&2. Pauch Jr. has now started working lapped traffic and Howard the crafty senior works this to his advantage. Pauch has to slow his considerable lead to deal with lapped traffic heading down the back stretch. As Pauch tries to lap a pair of 2 wide racers in 3&4 Howard pounces and passes Pauch for the lead by the turn 4 exit on lap 23. Howard holds on to the lead till the Lap 25 yellow for pit stops. At the pit stop break, Howard is the new leader, Pauch Jr 2nd, Pauch Sr 3rd, James 4th and hard charging Wade Hendrickson now in the top 5.
As the restart green drops for lap 26, Howard jumps back out to the lead.
The new battle on the track is now between the 5th of Hendrickson and the fast
moving 12th starting spot of Jeff Strunk but he soon gets freight trained by
Pauch Sr and #28 of Richie Pratt who has moved into the mix. Strunk drops back
as a yellow flies for a spinning #20 of Troy Gibson. As the field lines back up
for a restart the #11D of Pauch Jr has mechanical difficulties and goes off
track for the remainder of the race. On the restart, Howard is still the leader
with #1c of Craig Von Dohren now 2nd, #711 of Iles 3rd, Hendrickson 4th and
James rounding out the top 5. On the restart Pratt gets a run on James making
the pass in turn 3 and bringing Strunk with him. The field settles into single
file till another yellow for a 3rd spin for Gibson bunches the field up again.
On the restart, Howard leads them down with CVD, Iles, Hendrickson and Pauch in
the top 5. Pratt now has his sights set on Pauch Sr as the two begin slugging it
out in the corners. Howard has now checked out on the field leaving 2nd through
6th to battle for position. Pratt finally gets an inside run on Pauch on lap 40
in turn 3. The field settles in for 1 groove racing has the race laps start to
click away. Hendrickson is all over Von Dohren’s bumper the last 10 laps but
can’t seem to get that run he needs for the pass for the 2nd spot. Howard easily
races to the Checkered with #1c Craig VonDohren 2nd, #85 wade Hendrickson 3rd,
Richie Pratt holds on for 4th with Pauch behind in the 5th spot.
Hilltown PA’s Jon Haegele gets his 1st win of the season in the 30 lap
Bridgeport Atlantic Coast GM Sportsman feature.
The #31 of Casey Lynch sat on the pole for the start of the GM Sportsman feature
event. At the drop of the green Keith Rivers takes a look at the lead taking
Lynch 2-wide as the two head for turn 2 before a 7 car altercation in the rear
of the pack slowed the field for a restart. On the restart, Haegele began his
move as he passes Rivers for the 2nd spot in turn 2. The yellow flies again on
lap 4 multi-car tangle this time in turn 3 involving the top 6 of #66 of Rivers,
#21 of Mike White, #9 of Jeff Brown and the #98 of Mike Cogdill. With a lap yet
to be scored, Lynch is still in the top spot, Haegele now in 2nd, #91A of john
Micek 3rd, #39 of Joseph Watson up to 4th and #99 of Jesse Hill in the top 5. On
the restart, Lynch jumps out to the lead with Watson picking off Haegele and
Micek to move into the 2nd spot. As the leaders head into lap 2 there is yet
another multi-car tangle involving 5 cars in turn 3 to bring out the 3rd caution
before lap 3 can be completed. On the restart, Haegele starts to make his move,
as he gets a run on Watson as they head down the backstretch. Out of nowhere
comes brother Jordan to follow suit to send Joseph back to 4th. Yellow drops
gain on lap 4 for a spinning #267 of Mike Barone and #93b of Brian Papiez on the
frontstretch. As the race resumes the 2nd through 6th spots are now in a 5 car
battle for position. Lynch is still holding on to the lead, Haegele in 2nd,
Jordan Watson in 3rd, with brother Joe close behind in 4th and #1 of Fritz
Epright in the 5th spot. The top 5 duel it out till lap 9 when Haegele gets his
run for the lead on Lynch and makes the pass down the front stretch. Lynch exits
turn 2 hi sending him back to 4th. Haegele begins to open up a lead as the
Brothers Watson battle for position going into lap16. Haegele is now beginning
to start to lap traffic as the Watson’s are slugging out the 2nd & 3rd positions
with Lynch holding on to 4th. The #99H Travis Hill now joins the mix of the top
5 as he is all over the #1 of Epright. Hill gets a run on Epright heading down
the back stretch of lap 21 to gain the 5th spot. The Watson’s have now run down
the leader of Haegele as he dealt with lapped traffic and look to make a charge
at the lead on lap 24. Joe Watson and brother Jordan soon start a duel of their
own as the two begin swapping the 2nd & 3rd spots as Haegele is able to drive
away from the dueling brothers. Haegele races on the checkered flag with Joseph
Watson out dueling his brother for 2nd, Jordan Watson 3rd, Travis Hill gets
around Lynch on the last lap turn 4 pass for 4th and Lynch holds on for 5th.
Bridgeton NJ’s Lee Nardelli gets his 2nd win of the season in the in the
Bridgeport Atlantic Coast 30 lap 358 Sportsman feature Sunday at Bridgeport’s
5/8’s oval.
“This is the one we wanted to win” “Don’t know how we made it to the end,
we were runnin hot all race” “Started catching the leader so I had to go for it”
announces a joyous Nardelli as he holding the checkered flag on the podium.
#47 John Kelly out of Pipersville, PA sat on the pole for the 358 sportsman
event with #0 of Lee Nardelli sitting on the outside. At the drop of the green
Nardelli quickly starts his battle for the lead taking Kelly 2-wide heading to
the corners. Nardelli makes a hi pass for the lead on the turn 2 exit heading
down the back stretch to be the leader for lap 1. Lap 2 brings a yellow for a
spinning #3h of Mark Homan and the # Z14 of Billy Turner in turns 3&4. On the
restart green, Nardelli is in the top spot with Kelly 2nd, #99H of the “Thrill”
Jesse Hill 3rd, #17 Ron Roberts now 4th and the #31 of Frank Dorry Jr 5th.
Nardelli jumps back out to the lead as Hill starts to put pressure on Kelly
making the pass into 2nd down the front stretch. Roberts quickly jumps in the
picture passing Kelly on the following lap 3 in turn 2. Kelly continues to fall
back as Dorry makes his pass and a now hard charging #26 of Dan Cogdill is
setting his sights on Kelly. Roberts is now nose to tail with Hill and he’s
working him hard until a lap 7 yellow flies for a spinning #71 of Chuck Hopkins
as he then collects the #TEN of George Quinlan in turns 3&4. The #126 and
defending race winner Kevin Collins spins to avoid the mess and looses a right
rear to end his night. On the lap 7 restart, Nardelli is still the leader with
Hill 2nd, Roberts 3rd, Dorry 4th and Kelly in the 5th spot. As the green drops,
the top 3 hit turn four 3-wide and Roberts snookers the lead away with a
beautiful inside pass on Nardelli and Hill to become the new leader heading down
the front stretch. Cogdill and the #307 of Sean Gunther also get a great restart
and pass their way into the top 5. By lap 10, Roberts has jumped out to a 6 car
lead with the real battle on the track back at the 5th and 6th spots between
Gunther and Cogdill. Cogdill has his hands full with Gunther but he holds true
to his inside line not giving Gunther room for a pass. By lap 17 Nardelli and
Hill are racing single file running down the leader of Roberts. By lap 20
Nardelli is all over Roberts looking for his shot at a pass to take back the
lead. Nardelli starts taking Roberts 2wide by lap 23 trying to get a run off of
4. Nardelli makes his run stick on lap 25 to leave Robert to now deal with a
hard charging Jesse Hill. On the following lap 26, Hill makes his move on

on the pole of the 25 lap Crate Late Model Feature event. Walls took the green
and jumped out to a sizable lead bringing the field down for turn 1 before #95
of John Calloway slowed with mechanical problems bringing out the yellow for a
restart. With a fresh restart, leader Walls jumps out again to the lead with #59
of Kelly Putz, #7 of Robinson, #12 of Mike Wilson and #V75 of Eric McKinney
rounding out the top 5. The big battle on the track was for the 2nd through 5th
positions as Walls started to check out on the field. 2nd spot of Kelly Putz had
his hands full with Robinson for 2nd as 3rd spot, Wilson was doing everything he
could to hold off McKinney for 5th. #11 of Joe Warren quickly jumped into the
mix driving all over McKinney as McKinney started workin the outside line the
corners. Warren finally gets his run on McKinney headin into turn2 lap3 and
makes an inside pass to take the position. #7 of Robinson his now testing the
inside line of Putz but is not able to make a pass as they battle through laps
4&5. The #V75 of McKinney really starts to get the feel of that outside line and
starts working it to his advantage. McKinney and Warren are now battling each
other 2-wide throughout the corners with McKinney sticking and working the
outside to lap 6 where McKinney makes his move dropping down inside from the top
of turn 4 to make an inside pass on Warren. With McKinney now back in the top 5
he looks like a driver on a mission as he sets his sights now on the 4th spot of
Mike Wilson. 3rd spot Robinson is still all over the bumper of #59 of Putz
waiting for his opportunity to snatch that 2nd position away. With Walls driving
away the top 5 are still in a huge battle for positions. McKinney is still rim
riding that hi groove as he is now all over the tail of Wilson, taking him hi
2-wide at both ends of the track heading into lap 10. The top 3 settle in for
single file racing for the next 5 laps as McKinney continues to work on Wilson.
Things get exciting heading into lap 15 as Robinson finally gets his nose under
#59 of Putz and makes the pass for the 2nd spot coming out of turn 2 heading
down the back stretch. Robinson is now in 2nd, Putz drops back to 3rd and a hard
charging McKinney is in 4th spot. By lap 15 McKinney is lookin like a seasoned
rim riding Bridgeport veteran as he gets a run on Putz for 3rd in turn 4 before
a lap 15 yellow flies for a slowing #50 of Gus Economides. The yellow bunches up
the pack and takes the sizable lead away from leader Walls. On the restart,
Walls is in the top spot with Robinson 2nd, McKinney 3rd, Putz 4th and Wilson
holding down the 5th spot. As the green flag drops for lap 16, Robinson gets a
great start and is all over the leader Walls. Heading into turn 1, Robinson gets
a run on Walls as they hit the turns 2-wide. Robinson hits the turn 2 exit as
the new leader bringing with him McKinney for 2nd as the leader Walls starts to
slow down the back stretch with mechanical problems bringing out the yellow for
lap 17. Walls definitely looked like the man to beat but had to leave the track
unable to return. For the restart, the new leader is now the #7 of Robinson,
#V75 McKinney now 2nd, Putz 3rd, Wilson 4th and now a #11 of Joe Warren back
into the top 5. At the drop of the single file green, Robinson gets a great
start and heads into the corners as the new leader. McKinney continues his hi
side racing trying to get on the bumper of the new leader. The new battle on the
track is now between the #12 of Mike Wilson who his working the 3rd spot of Putz
2-wide through the corners. The yellow flies again one more time to bunch up the
field for a spinning #35 of Mike Parsons. On the restart, Robinson continues as
the leader with McKinney doing everything he can as the two get side by side
exiting 4 at the green but couldn’t pull off a pass. Wilson takes Putz 2-wide
going into turns 1&2 and makes a late turn 2 pass on #59 of Putz for 3rd and
brings with him the #11 of Warren for the 4th spot sending Putz back to 5th down
the back stretch. McKinney is never able to make a serious challenge on Robinson
on the remaining laps for the lead as Robinson races to the lap 25 checker for
his 1st Bridgeport visit and feature win. Eric McKinney finishes 2nd, Mike
Wilson racing his way to a strong 3rd, Joe Warren 4th and Kelly Putz holding on
to the 5th spot.

CHIC COSSABOONE CRUISES TO FIRST CAREER BRIDGEPORT BIG BLOCK WIN
Bridgeport, NJ… The mighty Big Block Modifieds competed in the fan favorite Twin
Twenties on Saturday night at Bridgeport Speedway and while Doug Hoffman won for
the second week in a row in the first feature, the real excitement came in the
nightcap event when Petersburg, NJ’s Chic Cossaboone drove the Tuckahoe Turf
Farms #7A into victory lane for the veteran’s first ever Bridgeport Big Block
Modified win. Young Chuck Hopkins, a graduate of the GM Sunoco Sportsman
division, won the 358 Sportsman feature with Jordan Watson taking home the
checkers for the sixth time this season in the GM Sportsman event. Ken Watson
collected his ninth win of the year in the Outlaw Stock feature.
After all the qualifying was complete, the first feature of the night was the
initial twenty lapper for the Big Block Modifieds, and the event was a real
barnburner. While the front row starters Mark Forte and Bob Sarkisian were
running 1-2 for the first half of the race, the action behind them was
electrifying with numerous battles through the pack providing three-wide racing
all over the big 5/8th mile oval. Coming down the front straight to complete lap
seven, Doug Hoffman pushed the Overhead Doors #0 to the outside of the raceway
to charge from seventh to fourth before the first turn. One lap later, Hoffman
and Chad James ran door to door for almost a complete lap, with Hoffman edging
ahead to wrestle away the third spot from James. While it was hard to take your
eyes off the front of the pack as Hoffman was closing in the leaders, back in
the pack the current Modified point leader Billy Pauch was fighting a four way
battle with Wade Hendrickson, Pete Visconti, and Chic Cossaboone. Hoffman was in
second on lap eleven, and on lap fourteen he flew under Forte on the backstretch
to take the lead. Meanwhile, Pauch never let up, passing cars on almost every
lap of the second half of the feature, but now seventh-starting Jimmy Chester
had his #44 cranking, passing Forte for the runner up position with three laps
left. With Starter Ken Golden waving the double-checkered flags, Hoffman had his
92nd career Bridgeport Modified victory, with Chester a solid second. Pauch
completed his crowd-pleasing charge taking third place by just inches over James
while Sarkisian edged out Forte for fifth.
The second Twenty had Chic Cossaboone blast from his third starting spot to take
the lead on lap two from pole-sitter Mike Franz. Cossaboone was driving around
the speedway like a man possessed, but the cautions kept the field tight for the
first two-thirds of the event. Wade Hendrickson had his #85 in second and it
looked like he was sitting there waiting to make his move on Cossaboone, but on
every restart Chic had the power to pull away to a comfortable lead. Again,
Pauch had the fans on the edge of their seats this time swapping spots with Rick
Laubach, who started dead last after having to bring out his back-up #14 for the
second feature. With just two laps left, Hendrickson pulled into the pits,
ending his night with mechanical woes, while Laubach snuck past Pauch to go into
second place. At the finish, Cossaboone had almost a half-lap lead over Laubach
and Pauch, with James and Chester filling out the top five. Now the real fun
began, with the wild celebration in victory lane by the 7A crew and the
Cossaboone Fourth turn Cheering section joining in the party. In Victory Lane,
Cossaboone said “This has been a long time coming! I’d like to dedicate this win
to Bill Brennan (who passed way last week). I owe a lot to that man and we miss
him. We had a great car tonight, and with this crew and these great fans, we’ll
probably still be here until tomorrow morning!” Qualifying heats were won by
Cossaboone, Richie Pratt Jr., and Forte with Franz taking the consolation.
The 358 Sportsman feature was another event that had the fans on the edge of
their seats, with veteran Dan Cogdill and 358 rookie Chuck Hopkins racing side
by side for the lead for the first five laps of the race. These two swapped
spots but never got more than a half car length apart until lap 6 when
Williamstown, NJ’s Hopkins finally inched ahead for the lead. A scary crash on
lap ten brought out the red flag for Jason Duppell, whose #10 slammed into the
1st turn wall, riding up the guardrail and flipping over before coming to a
stop. Duppell was knocked unconscious in the hard hit, but was reported to only
have a shoulder injury along with a possible concussion. When racing resumed,
Sean Gunther went from fourth to second and began running down Hopkins, while
holding off veteran Ron Roberts at the same time. After taking the white flag,
Hopkins had Gunther all over his rear bumper, but held on to get his first
Saturday night 358 Sportsman win, with Gunther, Roberts, Jesse Hill and 2006 358
Champ John Pursell rounding out the top five.
The third feature of the night was contested by the GM Sunoco Sportsman, and
again the on track action was fierce, with an exciting battled waged by pole
sitter Mike Barone and point leader Jordan Watson, who started in 12th place for
the fifteen-lap race. Watson was trying every way he could to get under Barone’s
D & R Boats #267, but for lap after lap Barone kept Watson right on his rear
bumper. Coming down the front straight to complete lap eleven, the two drag
raced down the long Bridgeport straightaway with Watson finally grabbing the
lead. Barone faded with handling problems with just two laps left, ending his
exciting battle with Watson, and at the finish it was Watson, Pat Hires, Matt
Harrell, a fast closing Jon Haegele, and last week’s winner Travis Hill
completing the top five.
The Outlaw Stocks put on another great show for the night, with repeat winner
Ken Watson again outclassing the field. Joe Trumbetti pulled out to an early
lead with point leader Watson charging into the second spot from his eleventh
starting spot on just the second lap. On the fifth lap, Watson pulled past
Trumbetti for the lead, and while it appeared that the race was over, Rich
Reider was back on the track and had his own ideas about who should go home with
the win. With five to go, Reider pulled into third place and started cutting
into the lead built up by Watson and now runner up Bill Miller. Reider was now
flying around the track and with two to go was one car length back. After
getting the white flag, Reider went to the outside but could not make the move
stick in turn one, but in three and four he shot under Miller to get second
place right behind Watson, who just got his ninth win of the year. Trumbetti and
Karl Wagner filled out the top five for the final event of the night.

until halfway, when Jimmy Horton put the Clark #026 on the Stangle #6 rear
bumper. On laps 15 and 16, Stangle and Horton swapped the lead back and forth,
with Horton finally taking the lead for good on lap 17. At the finish, it was
Horton and Stangle, followed by Richie Pratt jr., Rob Pierce, and Ron Roberts.
The fourth place finish was enough to give Pierce his first ever 358 Modified
Championship, just points ahead of runner up Pratt.

WADE “THE FLYING FARMER” HENDRICKSON CRUISES TO SECOND WIN OF 2007
KEVIN COLLINS PICKS UP WIN & ATLANTIC COAST 358 SPORTSMAN GUARANTEED STARTING
SPOT
Bridgeport, NJ… Saturday night at South Jersey’s Bridgeport Speedway, Wade
Hendrickson won the 25-lap Big Block Modified feature event, piloting the J & M
Roofing and Building #85 to his second win of the season. In the 358 Sportsman
division, Laurel, DE’s Kevin Collins secured a guaranteed starting spot in the
October Atlantic Coast Weekend 358 Sportsman feature, winning the extra distance
25 lap main event. The GM Sunoco Sportsman race was won by Travis Hill, who took
his family owned NAP Electrical Contractors #99 to victory lane for the third
time this season. Bill Miller drove his #9 Outlaw Stock to perfection, winning
the 15-lap Outlaw Stock feature for his first win of the season.
Bob Sarkisian, piloting the Superior Scaffolding #47, jumped from his third
starting spot to take the early lead in the 25 lap Big Block Modified feature,
but by the second lap Wade Hendrickson was right on the Woolwich, NJ driver’s
rear bumper pressuring his for the lead. Hendrickson wrestled the lead away from
Sarkisian for lap three and a yellow for three separate incidents on the track
tightened up the field. On the restart, Richie Pratt Jr. charged into second
place, while Billy Pauch was rim-riding his way around the big 5/8th mile oval,
using the outside groove to rocket way from his from 18th starting spot into the
top five by the fifth lap. At the halfway mark, Hendrickson had a comfortable
lead over Pratt and Pauch, who were battling each other all around the track.
Lap after lap Pauch would try to pull a slide job on Pratt, diving under the
South Jersey Racing Products #901 in the turns, while Pratt would power his way
off the corner to regain his position. While these two were in the process of
swapping positions numerous times, Mike Iles and point leader Rick Laubach were
charging to the front, recovering from early race pit stops to pull into fifth
and sixth place with just five laps to go. One lap later, Iles would fade from
the front with mechanical problems, putting Laubach into the top five after a
great run in his damaged East Coast Hoist #20. Coming down the front straight
with Starter Ken Golden waving the double checkered flags, Hendrickson coasted
past the flagstand with motor problems to get his 34th career Bridgeport Big
Block Modified victory, with Pratt, Pauch, Steve Bottcher, and Laubach
completing the top five. Pauch, Pete Visconti, and Hendrickson won the eight lap
qualifying events for the 23 big block in competition for the night.
With a guaranteed starting spot in the 358 Sportsman portion of the Atlantic
Coast Weekend in October on the line, the early part of the extra distance 25
lap 358 Sportsman was plagued with “yellow fever” but once everything settled
down, the racing was excellent. Sean Gunther , who started the event in fifth,
had his F & S Tire #307 out in front on lap five after passing early race leader
John Kelly and a spirited battle with Dan Cogdill. A yellow flag for Carmen
Leggio, who spun his #17C in turn four, brought the field back together, and
with Gunther holding on to the lead, Kevin Collins and Jimmy Horton IV were
racing around the speedway side by side battling for the runner up position. As
Collins and Horton, who started the race in fourteenth and fifteenth, were upon
Gunther and coming down the front straight to complete lap nine, Collins blasted
past Gunther for the lead. At the halfway mark, Collins was still leading, but a
determined John Pursell was making his move, putting the Benton Elevator #15
right on Collins rear bumper. With ten to go, Collins had pulled away from the
field, but now Pursell, the 2006 358 Sportsman Champion, had his hands full with
Gunther, who had pulled alongside the defending champ with five laps left in the
event. Pursell and Gunther were still going back and forth in a heated battle
for the runner up spot, and on the last lap Gunther dove under Pursell in turn
three and made the move stick by inching ahead at the finish line. Collins, the
2007 358 Sportsman point leader, had his second win for the season, while
Gunther, Pursell, Horton, and Jesse Hill filled out the top five. Cogdill,
Gunther, and Ron Roberts all picked up the five bonus points for winning their
qualifying races.
Gino Postarivo and Tom Gibson led the field to the post in the GM Sunoco
Sportsman feature event, but Barnsboro, NJ’s Travis Hill blasted past the two
from his third starting spot to grab the lead on the first lap. A few early race
cautions kept Hill from pulling away from the field, but as the race wore on,
the Watson Brothers made their presence known as they pulled through the field
and set their sights on the front. At the halfway point, Hill was cruising
around the speedway, but point leader Jordan Watson fought his way into second
from tenth starting spot, while brother Joe, hot off last week’s victory, had to
jump into the Brown #9 and start dead last when mechanical problems sidelined
the REMAX #39 after the heat races. Joseph Watson was in the top five by lap
eight, but brother Jordan had enough power in his #30 to hold on to second place
until the finish. At the end of the fifteen lap event, Hill had his third win of
the season, with Jordan and Joe Watson right behind, with Bob Bartleson and Jon
Haegele coming home in the top five. Hill and Blue Anchor, NJ’s Ryan Forte were
the winners of the qualifying events.
In the Outlaw Stock feature, Bill Miller flew out from his outside pole starting
spot to lead the entire event. Point leader Ken Watson, who started eleventh,
worked his way into second place with just two laps to go, but couldn’t close in
on the leader and had to settle for the runner up spot. At the end of the
fifteen-lap race Miller parked his Forest Grove Motors#9 in victory lane for his
first win of the season, with Watson, Rick Haegele, Joe Trumbetti, and Karl
Wagner completing the top five.

DOUG HOFFMAN CHARGES TO 91ST CAREER BRIDGEPORT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED VICTORY
Bridgeport, NJ… Allentown, PA’s Doug Hoffman scored his fourth win of the season
Saturday night, winning the RMP Night 25 lap Big Block Modified Feature on the
big 5/8th mile Bridgeport Speedway. Hoffman rocketed from his eleventh starting
position, flying on the outside to power his way into the top five on the first
lap. After a spirited duel with Billy Pauch, Hoffman pedaled the Overhead Doors
#0 to his 91st career Big Block Modified triumph at the South Jersey oval. Third
generation driver Jesse Hill picked up his third win of the season in the 358
Sportsman feature. The Barnsboro, NJ driver had to hold off hard charging Kevin
Collins to get the win in the 20 lap event. Joseph Watson, in the REMAX #39, won
the GM Sunoco Sportsman main event, while Ken Watson continued his domination of
the Outlaw Stock division, grabbing his 8th win of the year.
Blue Anchor, NJ’s Mark Forte led the field of Big Block Modifieds to start the
RMP Night main event, pushing his self-owned Stone Grille #40 to the early lead.
After starting eleventh, Doug Hoffman was using the outside groove to his
advantage, charging his way into the top five on just the first lap and pulling
into the runner-up spot on lap three. Going into turn one on lap six, Hoffman
powered his way along side of Forte, and the two completed the lap running side
by side. Coming down the front straight the two crossed the start finish line
door to door, with Hoffman finally taking the lead in turn one. The first
caution of the event was called for point leader Rick Laubach, who stopped on
the entrance to the backstretch with transmission problems, ending his night. On
the restart, Billy Pauch pushed his K & A Excavating #1 into second place and
began to set his sights on Hoffman. At the halfway mark, Pauch was rim-riding
his mount all the way up by the guardrail, while Hoffman had moved down to the
bottom groove, which had begun to take rubber. Rocketing down the backstretch,
Pauch took the lead with ten to go, and pulled away to a five-car length lead
over Hoffman. Hoffman never gave up, and was back on Pauch’s rear bumper within
two laps, while the Medford Mad Dog, Mike Iles, was now in the mix, flying
around in third place. Coming down the front straight completing lap nineteen,
Hoffman regained the lead at the stripe, while Pauch now had his hands full with
Iles, who was pressuring him all the way around the big 5/8th mile speedway.
With Starter Ken Golden waving the white flag, Iles made his final move on
Pauch, wrestling the runner up spot away from the 2007 five-time feature winner
on the backstretch. At the finish, it was Hoffman, Iles and Pauch, with Chad
James and Forte completing the top five. Steve Bottcher, Wade Hendrickson, and
Laubach picked up the wins in the eight lap qualifying events.
The RMP Night 358 Sportsman feature saw Jesse Hill charge from his outside pole
position starting spot, leading every lap in the Infante Sod Farm #99H. While
Hill might have led every lap, it was far from an easy win, as Laurel, DE’s
Kevin Collins was applying pressure in his Bo’s Construction #126 for almost the
entire event. At the halfway mark, Hill was slicing his way through lapped
traffic, with Collins never more than a few car lengths behind. A lap fourteen
yellow for GM Sportsman graduate Chuck Hopkins, who spun his #71 in turn two,
tightened up the field and gave Collins another shot at the lead. On the
restart, Hill was strong enough to hold off Collins, and went on to grab his
third win of the 2007 season. Collins came home the runner up, with Bob Lineman
Jr., Eric Kormann, and a fast closing Jimmy Horton IV filling out the top five.
Qualifying heat race winners were Hopkins, Hill, and Collins, with Sean Gunther
taking the consolation race.
The Watson brothers continued their domination of the Sunoco GM Sportsman field,
with Joseph taking the win in the RMP Night 15 lap feature. Starting in the
tenth spot outside brother Jordan, the two worked their way to the front as
early leader Bob Bartleson had the Post Plumbing #720 in the lead until halfway.
While Bartleson had his hands full with the Simons Builders #61 of Jon Haegele,
and after yellows on lap six and seven for point leader Brett Ballard and Travis
Hill respectively, Joseph Watson was able to make finish his charge to the
front, taking the lead away from Bartleson as the two entered turn three. With
five to go, Jordan Watson and Haegele were side by side, and Jordan pulling past
as the two ran through turns one and two. Bartleson ended his good night on a
bad note, as the youngster spun out in turn four, bringing out the final caution
flag of the event on lap twelve. Joseph led brother Jordan to the checkered flag
for his third win of the season, with Haegele, 2007 Rookie Champ Matt Harrell
and Pat Hire completing the top five. Picking up the wins in the two qualifying
events were Harrell and Jordan Watson.
Twenty Outlaw Stocks took to the track for their feature, with Ken Watson taking
his eighth win of the season in the full-bodied division. Watson worked his way
to the front from the eleventh starting place, taking first place after early
leader Bill Miller dropped out of the event for a pit stop. At the finish,
Watson led Karl Wagner, Miller, who rebounded from his pit stop for a third
place finish, Jim Honeker, and Jim McLaughlin. Sixth through tenth place
finishers were Bob Hopely, Ron Dirkes, Joe Ecret, Chuck Faisst, and Joe
Trumbetti.

PAUCH, DURAND, LAUBACH AND IRWIN TAKE MODIFIED VICTORIES IN BRIDGEPORT
4-DOZENS!
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (August 11, 2007) – It was a beautiful night at the Bridgeport
Speedway, this past Saturday Night as the famed South Jersey oval presented
seven feature events. Billy Pauch, Stephan Durand, third winner, fourth winner,
picked up victories as the Big Block Modifieds presented four twelve lap feature
events – a special event that hasn’t been presented in almost ten years.
Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy Pauch launched from the top spot in the first of the four
twelve lap feature events, and was quickly challenged by Lawrenceville, NJ’s
Wade Hendrickson and Allentown, PA’s Doug Hoffman. On the seventh circuit --
Laurel, DE’s Chad James was running in the fifth position when a flat tire
slowed the Gene’s Auto Body #27, and four cars subsequently piled in; while
almost simultaneously Hoffman’s motor expired in the Sal DeBruno owned #0 car.
Pauch pulled away on the restart and easily took the victory in the first twelve
lap event to collect his fifth victory of the season. Wade Hendrickson finished
in the second position, Steve Bottcher in third, Rick Laubach in fourth and Mike
Iles rounding out the top five finishers.
Mahwah, NJ’s Stephan Durand picked up his first career feature victory aboard
the Thornton’s Gulf #924 Bicknell machine. Durand started second on the grid and
quickly jumped to the top spot, with Petersburg, NJ’s Chic Cossaboone quickly
following. While Durand pulled a half-straight-a-way lead over the field, Billy
“The Kid” Pauch blasted from twelfth to the third position by the third circuit.
Rim-riding the top side of the speedway Pauch chased down Cossaboone. A lap
seven caution for Grenloch, NJ’s Sam Wescott, aboard the Dick Biever owned #14
machine, restacked the field. Durand pulled away on the restart, as Pauch
chopped down into the second position over Cossaboone. Pauch slid outside Durand
on the ninth circuit, searching the top and bottom to find a groove in an
attempt to power passed Durand. Pauch made one final attempt blasting into turn
three on the extreme topside of the speedway, but it was Durand by half a car
length over Pauch.
“The Quaker Shaker” Rick Laubach out of Hellertown, PA picked up the victory in
the third twelve lap event. Brett Hoffman, aboard the Jimmy Chester owned #44B,
led the early stages of the event, but all eyes were on Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy
Pauch. Pauch kicked off in the eleventh spot and powered to the high-side
powering around everyone in his sights. Pauch motored up to the third position,
as Laubach powered into fourth – but Pauch’s machine quickly dropped off falling
to the seventh position. A lap seven restart for Robbinsville, NJ’s Rich Acolia
repacked the cars. Laubach rocketed inside Brett Hoffman on the restart, with
Pauch moving into the second position right behind him. Laubach walked away from
the field and easily claimed his third victory of the season aboard the East
Coast Hoist #20 Teo Pro machine. Pauch rode home in second, Doug Hoffman in
third, Brett Hoffman in fourth and Richie Pratt, Jr. rounding out the top five.
Sinking Spring, PA’s Scott Irwin claimed his first Big Block Modified feature
event victory in the 12 lap Big Block Modified nightcap. Irwin started at the
point and clearly dominated the event holding off Newfields, NJ’s Jimmy Chester
for the win. Irwin rolled the #92 C. Irwin & Son Food Distributors Teo Pro
machine around the bottom of the racetrack holding on to a tight low-line and
setting a rapid pace. It was all Irwin, leading a train of big block modifieds
to the checkered flag – claiming his first speedway victory in almost twenty
years. Jimmy Chester rolled home second, Medford, NJ’s Mike Iles in third, Rick
Laubach in fourth and Doug Hoffman rounding out the top five.
Doylestown, PA’s Bob Lineman, Jr. claimed his second season victory aboard the
Lineman Racing/Troyer Race Cars #USA1 Machine. Lineman started third on the grid
and overtook early race leader Don Erde on the third circuit of the event. As
Lineman approached late race lapped traffic, young hotshoe Ewing, NJ’s Randy
Yaple aboard the Delran Auto Body #99 Lawrence Engineering chassised machine,
made a bid for the top spot – but Lineman set his foot to the floor and walked
away with the victory. Yaple settled for the runner-up spot, with Ron Roberts in
the third position, John Pursell in fourth and Kevin Collins finishing in fifth.
Pennsville, NJ’s Brett Ballard led the South Jersey Overhead Doors #0 Teo Pro
Machine to victory in the Sunoco Sportsman feature event. Mullica Hill, NJ pilot
David Bell started at the point and led the majority of the 15 lap feature
event. It was long before “Brett the Jet” would make his presence known blasting
from eighth into the second position on the second lap. Ballard would make a
move for the top spot on the 11th circuit leading the final three laps. Bell
would come home in second, rookie-sensation Matt Harrell of Elmer, NJ in third,
returning fan favorite Jon Haegele in fourth and Jordan Watson completing the
top five.
Ken Watson continued to dominate the Outlaw Stock division capturing his seventh
victory of the season. Watson picked up the lead from Jim Honaker on the 12th
circuit, after early race leader Bill Miller suffered mechanical problems just
passed the halfway point. Honaker finished in the second spot, Rick Haegele in
third, Joe Ecret in fourth and Walter Hayes finishing in fifth.
Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, The Bridgeport Speedway is a
high-banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the
center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania
and Delaware at exit 14 off I-295.

BROWN, BEST AND PRATT CAPTURE BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY WINS
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (August 4, 2007) – It was a hot night on and off the race track
as Pilesgrove, NJ’s Dave Brown and the first-state’s Andy Best claimed victories
in dual Limited Sprint 20 lappers, while the South Jersey hotshoe, Richie Pratt,
Jr. of Sewell, NJ captured the 25 lap 358 Small Block feature event on the famed
5/8th mile Bridgeport Speedway, this past Friday Night.
Andy Best captured his second career victory in the Limited Sprint division
claiming the regularly scheduled 20 lap feature event. Bridgeton, NJ’s Tim Iulg
started at the point and had apparently set the stages to claim his fourth win
of the season before a mechanical failure on the eighth circuit sidelined his
#8s machine for the remainder of the event. Andy Best inherited the lead on the
restart and held off a strong run from, earlier night winner, Dave Brown out of
Pilesgrove, NJ to pick up the checkered flag. Brown settled for the second spot,
Jeff Mueller in third, Chuck Palmucci in fourth and Jim Walter claiming his
second top-five of the night.
Fan favorite, Pilesgrove, NJ native Dave Brown picked up the win in the 20 lap
Limited Sprint make-up feature event. Always a serious contender, Brown held off
a strong run from Bridgeton, NJ’s Tim Iulg and claimed his first win of the 2007
racing season. Iulg rolled home in second with Boothwyn, PA’s Hank Trum in the
third position, Mike Piersig out of Langhorne, PA in the fourth spot, Jim Walter
in the fifth position
Sewell, NJ’s Richie Pratt, Jr. pulled off his third win of the season in the 358
Small Block division. Aboard his family-owned #28 Bicknell Chassised machine,
Pratt shot forward from the seventh position and slipped passed early race
leader Sean Gunther of Somerset, NJ. With Pratt at the point, he quickly pulled
a sizeable advantage and easily rolled on to the victory. Neshanic, NJ’s Jimmy
Horton moved into the runner-up spot with two laps remaining, Gunther held on
for third, division leader Rob Pierce in the fourth position and Ron Roberts
completing the top five.
2005 division champion Glenn Heverin from Townsend, DE captured the 20 lap 600cc
Micro Sprint feature event. Heverin started in the ninth position and led only
the final two laps of the event, stealing the lead away from Washington, NJ’s
Rich McKay to claim his first victory of the season. McKay came home in the
runner-up spot with Ryan Stillwagon in third, Sam Locuson in fourth and Bob
DeVault completing the top five.
Williamstown, NJ’s Mike King captured his first victory of the 2007 racing
season in the 20 lap 270cc Micro Sprint feature event. Steve Gasapari from
Sinking Spring, PA started at the point and led the early stages of the event,
before King took the top spot just prior to the half-way point. King held off a
late race outside run from Flagtown, NJ’s Jay Hartman to hold on for the win.
Hartman finished in the second position, Gasapari in third, Chris Locuson in the
fourth spot and John Copeland in fifth.
Ridley, PA’s Ian Wray claimed the victory in the 20 lap 4 Cylinder Stock Car
feature event, holding off a strong late race charge from Wilmington, DE’s
Warren Stradley to claim his third victory of the 2007 racing season. Stradley
settled for the second position followed by Dave Bentley, Jr., Dave Damiano and
Joe Meron completing the top five.
