FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Chub Frank Ends ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ On High Note With First WoO LMS Victory
Of 2007
BEAR LAKE, PA – May 19, 2007 – After 10 long days on the road spent chasing the
World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Monster Midwest Tour,’ Chub Frank headed
home to Bear Lake, Pa., with a big smile on his face.
That’s because the popular driver known as ‘Chubzilla’ closed the five-race
swing through five states with a bang, winning Friday night’s ‘Great Lakes 50’
at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich.
It was the first WoO LMS triumph of the 2007 season for Chub, who had
experienced an up-and-down ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ before making his first-ever
visit to the half-mile I-96 layout.
“We needed this,” said Chub, who registered his eighth career win on the WoO LMS.
“We’ve been struggling a little bit, so picking up $10,000 will help pay the
fuel bill home.”
The key move of Chub’s night at I-96 came when he pulled off a banzai outside
pass of Steve Francis to finish second in the third qualifying heat. That got
him in the pre-feature redraw, where he pulled the pole position.
Chub proceeded to lead the 50-lap A-Main from flag-to-flag, keeping his
smooth-running Lester Buildings/Corry Rubber/All Star Performance/Corry
Laser/Slavic Corporation/Farr MotorSports/Lake Shore Paving/Custom Race Engines
Chevrolet Impala SS Rocket Chassis No. 1* ahead of the late-charging Josh
Richards to secure the checkered flag.
“It feels good to get a win anywhere,” said Chub. “The car was good tonight,
real good. We made some adjustments just before the feature and they were on the
money.”
Chub’s best ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ showing prior to I-96 came on May 13 at
Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway, where he finished a solid fourth in the 40-lap feature
after registering the third-fastest lap in time trials and winning a heat.
The remainder of Chub’s results from the swing included a 16th-place finish on
May 9 at the Davenport (Iowa) Speedway Quarter Mile; 10th place (from the 16th
starting spot) on May 12 at Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, Wis.; and 15th
place on May 16 at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway (after he made a pit stop during a
lap-15 caution period).
“The trip wasn’t bad,” Chub summarized following his victory at I’96. “Before
tonight we were making mistakes, picking wrong tires. That’s just part of the
game, but we gotta stop that. I think that when we get back on some tracks that
we know, we probably won’t have that.”
Chub ended the ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ tied for fifth in the WoO LMS point
standings with Rick Eckert. At 48 points behind leader Shannon Babb, he remains
well within striking distance of the tour championship.
With the WoO LMS off until events on May 31 at Delaware International Speedway
and June 2 at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway, Chub plans to stay close to home this
weekend to compete in a very special event at Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y.
The ‘Stateline Memorial’ program on Sat., May 26 – featuring twin A-Mains paying
$5,000 to win each – honors the memories of Chub’s late mother, Janet Frank, as
well as Leonard Briggs and Lloyd Williams.

Scott Bloomquist Named RPM Racing News ‘Driver Of The Year’
By Jarrod Lehman
Latrobe, PA --- Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN has been named the recipient
of the Third Annual RPM Racing News Driver of the Year Award based on his 2006
accomplishments and achievements. The RPM Racing News Driver of the Year Award
is sponsored by RPM Racing News based in Latrobe, PA and will be presented to
Bloomquist in August during the annual National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremonies during the 25th Annual North-South 100 race weekend at
Florence Speedway in Kentucky that will be held August 9-11, 2007.
Bloomquist won based on receiving a majority of votes by the voting panel
selected by RPM Racing News that is made up of veteran motorsports journalists.
Shannon Babb won last year while Earl Pearson, Jr., won the award the previous
year. RPM Racing News columnist and reporter and fellow National Dirt Late Model
Hall of Fame inductee Doc Lehman will present the award to Bloomquist.
Bloomquist, an inductee of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame, had a
sensational season in 2006 with many major wins including The Dream ($100,000),
Topless 100 ($45,000), Scorcher 100 ($20,000), Racefest ($20,000), Dixie
Shootout ($15,000) and the Cedar Lake USA Nationals ($50,000) among many others.
Bloomquist also scored nine feature wins with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series.
Bloomquist’s success came driving his Bloomquist Race Cars/Vic Hill Racing
Engines #0 sponsored by Millers Bros. Coal, Hawkeye Trucking, All-Star
Performance and Hoosier Racing Tires.
"Scott had just a tremendous season,” stated Dave Kittey, co-editor and
co-publisher of RPM Racing News. “He won just about every big event he entered.
It was a dream season no doubt. Scott is not just a good driver he is a smart
driver. Always thinking."
Also receiving votes were Tim McCreadie, Jeremy Miller, Earl Pearson, Jr., and
Jason Covert.
"Only five drivers received votes in the balloting and Scott was the
overwhelming favorite and his record speaks for itself,” added co-editor and
co-publisher Dr. David Horne.
The RPM Racing News Driver of the Year Award honor is bestowed upon a dirt Late
Model racer each year at the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame (NDLMHOF)
induction ceremonies and has become an annual designation to a deserving dirt
Late Model driver who has risen to the top heights of their profession.
RPM Racing News sponsors and administers the RPM Racing News Driver of the Year
Award during each induction ceremony of the NDLMHOF. While not part of the
overall NDLMHOF process, the award is being given to one driver chosen among an
independent group of voters from the media. A permanent standing trophy honoring
each year's selection will be placed on-site at the NDLMHOF building.
"Although not a specific category of the NDLMHOF, we think this adds something
to the festivities and record in some small way over the years who the most
prominent driver of each particular year is," stated Kittey. "Each year when the
winner is announced we present the winning Driver of the Year Award winner with
a plaque to commemorate the honor. The response to this the past couple years
has been very favorable.”
“In addition, we have supplied a trophy to the National Dirt Late Model Hall of
Fame that remains at the building. Each year an engraved plate is added to the
trophy with the name of each successive Driver of the Year Award winner. We at
RPM Racing News take great pride in associating ourselves with this award, the
National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame and the tireless efforts of Bill Holder in
honoring the greats of this sport."
RPM Racing News is a weekly racing results newspaper publishing 27 times a
season. Weekly publications begin in April and run through the third week of
September, with additional printings in October and December. RPM Racing News
carries results and photos from over 80 of the areas racetracks, from Ohio to
West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, New York and Western and Central
Pennsylvania.
RPM Racing News is the reality of a joint venture between Dr. David Horne and
David Kittey. In 1993 they purchased the monthly magazine "Racing's Almost
Perfect Magazine". The two had a goal, the need to fill a void they saw within
the area's weekly news coverage of auto racing during the racing season. They
continued to publish the magazine for three more years, while still keeping
their vision in mind.
In 1996 the conception of their dreams became a reality, as RPM Racing News
acquired Tri-State Auto Racing News, the areas oldest racing publication. The
acquisition strengthened the market exposure and coverage for RPM Racing News.
The move made RPM Racing News the leading periodical covering racing in the
area.

May 15 2007 -- Western Allstars 5/12 Notes & Winners
Steiner Racing keeps domination of WAS points races going. With Mike Johnson 3rd
win in a row, that means that a Steiner Racing Victory Circle Chassis has won
all 4 points races on the Western Allstars this year. With 33 cars at Kings
Speedway on Saturday and a car count average of 37.25 at the Western Allstars
points races this year, that is quite an accomplishment. It was nice having a
few new racers with us this year. Jeff Decker, Danny Bohard and Doug Hayes all
made their first appearances of the year. We also had Bill Pearson tow down from
Reno, NV and John Duty make the 13 1/2 hour tow from Portland, OR. It was also a
sweep of the top 3 in the A-Main for Victory Circle Chassis with Johnson, Decker
and Chris Shannon finishing 1,2,3. I was also impressed by the run of Larry
Cildress and Clarke Gugliemoni .
I would like to thank all of the Racers and fans for supporting the WAS @ Kings
Speedway. I would also like to thank all of the Kings Speedway officials for
keeping the show going on a night when we had 5 classes (3 open wheel). And of
course, as usual, all of the Western Allstars Officials, who made my job easy
last night, so that I could just ride my Bicycle around and yell on my Bull Horn
and shoot T-shirts. Man we have great peole working with us. I would also like

Urban Force Racing News
Beloit, WI - Team Manager Raskovic Pleased with Outing at Madison
by Steve Pados, Urban Force Media
The ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing Team with Kiwi driving talent Michael Pickens
aboard, made their debut at the Madison International Speedway on Friday night,
as the track opened to a huge opening night crowd. A quality field of top flight
race cars were on hand to provide for a great night of racing and family
entertainment. Pickens, who is making the transition to the pavement ranks this
year after a stellar career on dirt, qualified the Urban Force car in ninth
place in the qualifying round.
Pickens qualified for the feature through his heat event and lined up outside
pole for the 50 lap feature attraction. At the outset of the race, Pickens
jumped into the lead and led the first two laps of the event before being passed
by Jesse Saunders with an inside maneuver on lap three. A couple of scrambles
during the feature rendered Pickens and the Urban Force Team to the sidelines
for the remainder of the event that eventually was won by Tom Gille from
Winnebago, Illinois.
Team Manager Pete Raskovic was generally pleased with the performance of his new
Urban Force Team and the continued advancement of the young Kiwi driver Pickens.
After the races Raskovic remarked. "I couldn't be happier with the role everyone
is playing on this new race team. This is our second time out and we are
functioning quite well as a team, a team that is showing great promise and a
driver who is adapting to the pavement with remarkable ease."
Raskovic further stated, "Our program is quite different from that of the other
teams racing at Madison. We still must be able to teach our students in the
program the skill level that will take them into a technical career in their
futures. With the racing season underway, we can see the subtle changes with the
students as the hands on of being at the racetrack really raises the bar and
makes them aware of the fact they are part of something special. It makes my
role with the team "priceless."
Urban Force Team Manager/Lead Mechanic Pete Raskovic, along with Crew Chief
Danny Brown, Chassisman Steve Bruno, Crewmen, Gregg Bowles and Robert Lee,
Spotter Chad Yuan, and the Student team members, Raymond Fallin, Keenan
Davidson, Cesar Roman, Tequad Tillman, Craig Burns, Angel Wicks, Jonathan Brown,
Zack Hill, and Giorgio Beard invite all of the racing fans and media to stop by
after the races and have a chat with the team and talk to their driver, Michael
Pickens, the number one ranked driver in New Zealand the past five years.

News From Brad Grim Racing
New Tripoli, PA - Brad Grim Toughs Out a 6th Place Finish at Five Mile Point
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
As soon as the green flag dropped for the running of the Sportsman feature event
at the Five Mile Point Speedway
last Saturday night, defending Champion Brad Grim knew right away something was
not right with the motor in his race car. He could feel the loss of power in his
right foot as the car developed a noticable miss that was evident to the crew as
well as everyone sitting in the grandstands. With that, Brad settled in knowing
this would be a night not destined for victory lane.
Brad did what he could in the feature event and brought the TR Kovacs Hauling
Sponsored 611 race car from it's tenth starting spot to a still respectable
sixth place finish when the checkered flag fell. The crew went to work on the
car immediately after the feature and though they felt it might be a loose plug
wire, found the true culprit was a spark plug that had a loose electrode in it,
an obvious defective plug at that.
The Brad Grim Racing crew headed up by owner Gary Grim, breathed a sigh of
relief. Even though the feature event finish was not what they had hoped for,
knowing the problem could be be taken care of, took a lot of weight off of their
shoulders.
The Team will regroup for this week's action as they once again will tackle the
tough Five Mile Point Raceway with the hope of a much better finish this time
out. With a win, a third and a sixth place finish early in the season, Brad Grim
Racing continues to focus on defending the Sportsman title they won a year ago.
Brad Grim Racing would like to thank all of their sponsors for the tremendous
amount of support they have given the team in preparing for another run at the
track title this year. The list of sponsors is headed up by TR Kovacs Hauling,
GTS Gas Welding Supplies, Roy's SK Tools, Queen City Tires, Uncle Nick's Candy,
Wild Bill's Beef and Jim Young Race Photos. A special thanks goes out to the
engine wizardry of Davey George for prepping some strong motors for the run at
the title.

News From Bobby Varin
Sharon Springs, NY - Varin Scores Second Straight Fonda Win, Settles for Third
at Utica Rome ROC Race
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Modified Track Champion Bobby Varin scored his second consecutive win of the
2007 racing season on Saturday Night at the Fonda Fairgrounds. Driving the Nancy
and Jake Spraker owned and sponsored 1J, Varin started the fearture event from
the 11th starting position. A lap three caution for a Jack Johnson-Dave Camara
jingle, had the field bunch up for the restart. Dave Lape, who was looking for
career win 100, and Craig Hanson were setting a torrid pace up front. Tony
Pepicelli entered the picture and now the battle was between he and Lape.
Meanwhile, Varin was making tracks on the inside of the raceway and moved from
ninth to fifth place between turns three and four.
By lap thirteen, Varin was still testing the racing lanes, moved into fourth and
then inherited third when Hanson had a tire go down. Another caution on lap
twenty one had Varin move into the runner-up slot and right behind the leader
Lape. Another caution on lap twenty four set the stage for the final shoot out.
Varin found some tremendous bite out of turn four on the restart and powered
away for the win, his 30th in a stellar career at the Montgomery County
facility.
Matty Delorenzo wound up second with Lape, Camara, and Ronnie Johnson completing
the top five.
The Sunday night ROC Tour race at the Utica Rome Speedway, had Varin starting
the feature event from the ninth starting spot, and utilizing the Nancy and Jake
Spraker 1J for the ROC event. With the race being 75 laps, Varin used extreme
patience in moving to the front. While Willy Decker, who started from the
outside pole, and Danny Johnson, who started sixth, battled back and forth,
Varin moved steadily up through the pack and into third where he would stay the
remainder of the race. Willy Decker would win the race and the four grand that
went with it and the Doctor was the runner-up. Varin did fight off a late
challenge by Vic Coffey to garner third and Coffey was fourth.
Bobby's son Danny, started ninth in his Fonda Sportsman feature event but was
shuffled back to twelveth early on. When racing resumed, Varin began making some
incredible passes to finish in the top five.
The following night at Utica Rome, Danny began from the eighth starting place
and drove hard to the front but ran out of laps as he turned in a fine
performance to secure a second place finish in the final rundown.
The Varins will be back in action again this coming weekend with a Saturday
night stop at Fonda and a Sunday night visit to Utica Rome.

Pesky showers halt Mountain Speedway show
Persistent rain showers forced the postponement of Mountain Speedway’s scheduled
feature events for the street stocks and thriller divisions, this past Saturday.
As the 6 pm start time approached, a brief shower covered the speedway, forcing
track management to shift gears and run the 50 lap 4-cylinder enduro stock event
first, on the damp pavement. As the rain slowed, the action on the track picked
up, with the drop of the green. Travis Fisher, the current 4-cylinder Thriller
division point leader, would lead the field early in the #29X machine, owned by
2006 4-cylinder Thriller champ, Joe Sherman. Trouble would come early for the
#09 of Joe Heintzelman, after first a spin on the frontstretch and then again on
the backstretch, this time collecting the #68 of Harry Sager, would see the #09
retire early. After a brief red flag to remove the #09, teammates Nikki Wachs
and Harry Sager, along with the #29 of Joe Sherman, would battle for the top
spot. As the race approached the half way mark, Luke Colleran would take over
the lead, as his Sager automotive #62, appeared to have the best set up on the
wet track. But, as the track began to dry, the #62 began to lose its handle. In
the mean time, Larry Fisher would begin a charge to the front in his own #8
machine. Fisher, enjoying a rare night off from the late model and modified
division, would assume the top spot at the three quarters mark of the event, and
hold off the challenges of son Travis, to pick up the victory.
Street stock heats were won by Rich Dimarco and Frank Reakes, setting the field
for this coming Saturday’s make-up 40 lap feature, sponsored by National auto
exchange of Berwick, Pennsylvania. Harry Sager and Ricky Ross jr. would claim
the checkered in the Thriller heat races. Their feature will also be made up
this Saturday.
The TQ midgets were also on hand, with the first of two heats scheduled being
completed before the rain returned. Bob Watkins would pick up the win over Ryan
Tidman. The second heat will be run on May 26, when the TQs return to Mountain,
with twin features now on the card for that evening.
A special 5 pm start time will be in place for this Saturday, May 19. The Street
stock and Thriller rained out features will be made up at that time. It should
be an action packed evening with 7 features scheduled including the the regular
Street stock and Thriller features, along with the Modifieds, Late models, and
the Formula race car club of america, for the first of their 4-race oval series.
Pits will open 1 hour earlier, at 1pm. The program will be moved up one hour,
with practice beginning at 3 pm.
Don't Forget, ABC car crushing and auto parts-Mountain Madness enduro # 3 takes
place this Sunday, May 20. 100 laps for both the 4 cylinder and 6/8 cylinder
divisions. Race time is 2 pm.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, New York - Yannone Cashes in for $1500 on Provident Bank Night Victory
by Steve Pados
Modified Rookie Jamie Yannone from Newburgh, New York, took advantage of a front
row starting spot to wire the star-studded Rhinebeck Ford Modified field in a
very popular victory for the young driver. Yannone has successfully made the
transition into the Modified division this year after co-sharing the Sportsman
title last year with Middletown's Danny Creeden, who also shared in the winner's
spotlight last night as he triumphed in the Campers Barn Sportsman feature
event.
Yannone, who also won his heat event, led the impressive Modified field down for
the start of the main event and quickly distanced himself from the rest of the
field. While Yannone was building a sizable margin with each passing lap, the
infighting within the pack had the large enthusiastic crowd on their feet
throughout the running of the event. A fourteenth lap caution for the spinning
Mike Ricci, bunched the pack together for the restart, but Yannone was more than
up to the task as he once again powered away, but this time bringing the Orange
Energy racer of Scott Ferrier and the Jerry Higbie Mid-City Transit car along
with him as the three cars battled the remainder of the way. Yannone came away
with his first win in the Modified division, an impressive turnaround for him,
as he failed to make the starting field in the lid-lifter a week ago, suffering
from a variety of minor mechanical problems.
Ferrier did an outstanding job with his second place finish and Higbie was
spectacular, using all of the multi grooved facility to the best of his ability
in his march to the front with his big block ride. Higbie finished third and Tom
Hindley rode into an impressive fourth from his eleventh starting spot. The
veteran Barry Davis rounded out the top five.
Creeden, who also won his heat event, began the Sportsman feature from fourth
starting place. Ray See Jr was the early leader, but on lap eight Creeden made
the winning pass. Justin Holland from White Lake, New York, was now the man on
the move as he too used the tacky Accord surface to his advantage as he moved
into second and then began to close the distance between he and Creeden with
each passing lap. A last lap bid for the lead fell short as Creeden scored his
first victory of the season. Holland was a close second with Ray See Jr third,
Steve Krom in a great drive was fourth, and Danny Tyler rounding out the top
five.
In a very hotly contested Amsoil Pro Stock feature event, George Christiana led
the first twelve laps with constant pressure being applied by first Norbert
Bracklow, and then both Adam Douglas and Don Williams. Douglas gained the lead
on lap sixteen and then held off a late charge by last week's winner Rob Rowe to
pass under starter Kenny Marshall's checkered flag for the win. Rowe was second
with Williams, Bracklow, and early leader Christiana rounding out the top five.
Don J Williams crossed the finish line first in the Bryant's Towing Pure Stock
feature event, but a post race infraction at the scales resulted in a DQ from
the event handing the win over to Joe Judge. Jason Chevalier wound up second
with James DeCicco II, Ryan Coon, and Gary Ronk completing the top five.
Mid-Week Madness graduate Danny Cross lead the first two laps of the Heart
Chevrolet Spec Sportsman feature event before giving way to eventual winner
Eddie Burgess, who led the remaining thirteen laps to score the victory. Hawley
Smith was a close second with Jeremy Quick, Greg Hastie, and Jamie House
completing the top five running order at the finish.
Clint Roehrs brought his Apple Greens sponsored Mini Sprint from 10 starting
place to win the hotly contested Kingston Nissan Mini Sprint twenty lap feature
event.
West Milford, New Jersey talent Ralph Utter Jr charged from eighth staring
position to the lead in just four laps and immediately opened up a comfortable
lead on the twenty one car starting field. On lap ten, Utter had a left front
tire go flat and as he tried to hang on, Roehers, the defending Champion from a
year ago, siezed the opportunity and took over the lead for good with a
thirteenth lap pass. Roehrs won going away to record his first win of the
season. Utter did a great job holding on for second with the hard charging John
Lodini third, Tim Durland fourth, and Todd Lapp completing the top five.
Dan Curry won the four cylinder event with Ken Hollebeck, Bert Long, Matt Curry,
and Sasha Rumsey following.
MUDPLUGS:
In his Winner's Circle interview, Yannone gave thanks to his family for their
strong support along with his sponsors, Alex's Marine and Ruggerio Plumbing and
Heating.
Rookie Modified campaigner Mike Sabia has signed on Fast Track Steel Erectors,
Valley Auto & Machine, and Bunny's Massage to go along with Sabia Excavating for
his efforts at the Speedway this year. Sportsman campaigner Steve Krom did
likewise as he signed on AMI Services, Windustrial and Country Chevrolet to go
along with Armistead Mechanical to serve his racing efforts this year.
Promoter Gary Palmer had the quarter mile facility in great shape for the
evening's racing as the track provided a tacky surface and multi racing grooves
throughout the evening.
Donnie Elliott looked real strong in winning his heat and scoring a sixth in the
Modified main event. Paul Minton returned with a new race car this week, as the
car he damaged last week in a front stretch altercation could not be repaired.
Loralyn Brinster, the young lady who won the Miss Middletown Motorsports contest
in March, will also serve as Miss Accord Speedway for the 2007 racing season.
