FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Chub Frank Ends ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ On High Note With First WoO LMS Victory
Of 2007
BEAR LAKE, PA – May 19, 2007 – After 10 long days on the road spent chasing the
World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Monster Midwest Tour,’ Chub Frank headed
home to Bear Lake, Pa., with a big smile on his face.
That’s because the popular driver known as ‘Chubzilla’ closed the five-race
swing through five states with a bang, winning Friday night’s ‘Great Lakes 50’
at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich.
It was the first WoO LMS triumph of the 2007 season for Chub, who had
experienced an up-and-down ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ before making his first-ever
visit to the half-mile I-96 layout.
“We needed this,” said Chub, who registered his eighth career win on the WoO LMS.
“We’ve been struggling a little bit, so picking up $10,000 will help pay the
fuel bill home.”
The key move of Chub’s night at I-96 came when he pulled off a banzai outside
pass of Steve Francis to finish second in the third qualifying heat. That got
him in the pre-feature redraw, where he pulled the pole position.
Chub proceeded to lead the 50-lap A-Main from flag-to-flag, keeping his
smooth-running Lester Buildings/Corry Rubber/All Star Performance/Corry
Laser/Slavic Corporation/Farr MotorSports/Lake Shore Paving/Custom Race Engines
Chevrolet Impala SS Rocket Chassis No. 1* ahead of the late-charging Josh
Richards to secure the checkered flag.
“It feels good to get a win anywhere,” said Chub. “The car was good tonight,
real good. We made some adjustments just before the feature and they were on the
money.”
Chub’s best ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ showing prior to I-96 came on May 13 at
Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway, where he finished a solid fourth in the 40-lap feature
after registering the third-fastest lap in time trials and winning a heat.
The remainder of Chub’s results from the swing included a 16th-place finish on
May 9 at the Davenport (Iowa) Speedway Quarter Mile; 10th place (from the 16th
starting spot) on May 12 at Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, Wis.; and 15th
place on May 16 at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway (after he made a pit stop during a
lap-15 caution period).
“The trip wasn’t bad,” Chub summarized following his victory at I’96. “Before
tonight we were making mistakes, picking wrong tires. That’s just part of the
game, but we gotta stop that. I think that when we get back on some tracks that
we know, we probably won’t have that.”
Chub ended the ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ tied for fifth in the WoO LMS point
standings with Rick Eckert. At 48 points behind leader Shannon Babb, he remains
well within striking distance of the tour championship.
With the WoO LMS off until events on May 31 at Delaware International Speedway
and June 2 at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway, Chub plans to stay close to home this
weekend to compete in a very special event at Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y.
The ‘Stateline Memorial’ program on Sat., May 26 – featuring twin A-Mains paying
$5,000 to win each – honors the memories of Chub’s late mother, Janet Frank, as
well as Leonard Briggs and Lloyd Williams.

Scott Bloomquist Named RPM Racing News ‘Driver Of The Year’
By Jarrod Lehman
Latrobe, PA --- Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN has been named the recipient
of the Third Annual RPM Racing News Driver of the Year Award based on his 2006
accomplishments and achievements. The RPM Racing News Driver of the Year Award
is sponsored by RPM Racing News based in Latrobe, PA and will be presented to
Bloomquist in August during the annual National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremonies during the 25th Annual North-South 100 race weekend at
Florence Speedway in Kentucky that will be held August 9-11, 2007.
Bloomquist won based on receiving a majority of votes by the voting panel
selected by RPM Racing News that is made up of veteran motorsports journalists.
Shannon Babb won last year while Earl Pearson, Jr., won the award the previous
year. RPM Racing News columnist and reporter and fellow National Dirt Late Model
Hall of Fame inductee Doc Lehman will present the award to Bloomquist.
Bloomquist, an inductee of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame, had a
sensational season in 2006 with many major wins including The Dream ($100,000),
Topless 100 ($45,000), Scorcher 100 ($20,000), Racefest ($20,000), Dixie
Shootout ($15,000) and the Cedar Lake USA Nationals ($50,000) among many others.
Bloomquist also scored nine feature wins with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series.
Bloomquist’s success came driving his Bloomquist Race Cars/Vic Hill Racing
Engines #0 sponsored by Millers Bros. Coal, Hawkeye Trucking, All-Star
Performance and Hoosier Racing Tires.
"Scott had just a tremendous season,” stated Dave Kittey, co-editor and
co-publisher of RPM Racing News. “He won just about every big event he entered.
It was a dream season no doubt. Scott is not just a good driver he is a smart
driver. Always thinking."
Also receiving votes were Tim McCreadie, Jeremy Miller, Earl Pearson, Jr., and
Jason Covert.
"Only five drivers received votes in the balloting and Scott was the
overwhelming favorite and his record speaks for itself,” added co-editor and
co-publisher Dr. David Horne.
The RPM Racing News Driver of the Year Award honor is bestowed upon a dirt Late
Model racer each year at the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame (NDLMHOF)
induction ceremonies and has become an annual designation to a deserving dirt
Late Model driver who has risen to the top heights of their profession.
RPM Racing News sponsors and administers the RPM Racing News Driver of the Year
Award during each induction ceremony of the NDLMHOF. While not part of the
overall NDLMHOF process, the award is being given to one driver chosen among an
independent group of voters from the media. A permanent standing trophy honoring
each year's selection will be placed on-site at the NDLMHOF building.
"Although not a specific category of the NDLMHOF, we think this adds something
to the festivities and record in some small way over the years who the most
prominent driver of each particular year is," stated Kittey. "Each year when the
winner is announced we present the winning Driver of the Year Award winner with
a plaque to commemorate the honor. The response to this the past couple years
has been very favorable.”
“In addition, we have supplied a trophy to the National Dirt Late Model Hall of
Fame that remains at the building. Each year an engraved plate is added to the
trophy with the name of each successive Driver of the Year Award winner. We at
RPM Racing News take great pride in associating ourselves with this award, the
National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame and the tireless efforts of Bill Holder in
honoring the greats of this sport."
RPM Racing News is a weekly racing results newspaper publishing 27 times a
season. Weekly publications begin in April and run through the third week of
September, with additional printings in October and December. RPM Racing News
carries results and photos from over 80 of the areas racetracks, from Ohio to
West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, New York and Western and Central
Pennsylvania.
RPM Racing News is the reality of a joint venture between Dr. David Horne and
David Kittey. In 1993 they purchased the monthly magazine "Racing's Almost
Perfect Magazine". The two had a goal, the need to fill a void they saw within
the area's weekly news coverage of auto racing during the racing season. They
continued to publish the magazine for three more years, while still keeping
their vision in mind.
In 1996 the conception of their dreams became a reality, as RPM Racing News
acquired Tri-State Auto Racing News, the areas oldest racing publication. The
acquisition strengthened the market exposure and coverage for RPM Racing News.
The move made RPM Racing News the leading periodical covering racing in the
area.

May 15 2007 -- Western Allstars 5/12 Notes & Winners
Steiner Racing keeps domination of WAS points races going. With Mike Johnson 3rd
win in a row, that means that a Steiner Racing Victory Circle Chassis has won
all 4 points races on the Western Allstars this year. With 33 cars at Kings
Speedway on Saturday and a car count average of 37.25 at the Western Allstars
points races this year, that is quite an accomplishment. It was nice having a
few new racers with us this year. Jeff Decker, Danny Bohard and Doug Hayes all
made their first appearances of the year. We also had Bill Pearson tow down from
Reno, NV and John Duty make the 13 1/2 hour tow from Portland, OR. It was also a
sweep of the top 3 in the A-Main for Victory Circle Chassis with Johnson, Decker
and Chris Shannon finishing 1,2,3. I was also impressed by the run of Larry
Cildress and Clarke Gugliemoni .
I would like to thank all of the Racers and fans for supporting the WAS @ Kings
Speedway. I would also like to thank all of the Kings Speedway officials for
keeping the show going on a night when we had 5 classes (3 open wheel). And of
course, as usual, all of the Western Allstars Officials, who made my job easy
last night, so that I could just ride my Bicycle around and yell on my Bull Horn
and shoot T-shirts. Man we have great peole working with us. I would also like

Urban Force Racing News
Beloit, WI - Team Manager Raskovic Pleased with Outing at Madison
by Steve Pados, Urban Force Media
The ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing Team with Kiwi driving talent Michael Pickens
aboard, made their debut at the Madison International Speedway on Friday night,
as the track opened to a huge opening night crowd. A quality field of top flight
race cars were on hand to provide for a great night of racing and family
entertainment. Pickens, who is making the transition to the pavement ranks this
year after a stellar career on dirt, qualified the Urban Force car in ninth
place in the qualifying round.
Pickens qualified for the feature through his heat event and lined up outside
pole for the 50 lap feature attraction. At the outset of the race, Pickens
jumped into the lead and led the first two laps of the event before being passed
by Jesse Saunders with an inside maneuver on lap three. A couple of scrambles
during the feature rendered Pickens and the Urban Force Team to the sidelines
for the remainder of the event that eventually was won by Tom Gille from
Winnebago, Illinois.
Team Manager Pete Raskovic was generally pleased with the performance of his new
Urban Force Team and the continued advancement of the young Kiwi driver Pickens.
After the races Raskovic remarked. "I couldn't be happier with the role everyone
is playing on this new race team. This is our second time out and we are
functioning quite well as a team, a team that is showing great promise and a
driver who is adapting to the pavement with remarkable ease."
Raskovic further stated, "Our program is quite different from that of the other
teams racing at Madison. We still must be able to teach our students in the
program the skill level that will take them into a technical career in their
futures. With the racing season underway, we can see the subtle changes with the
students as the hands on of being at the racetrack really raises the bar and
makes them aware of the fact they are part of something special. It makes my
role with the team "priceless."
Urban Force Team Manager/Lead Mechanic Pete Raskovic, along with Crew Chief
Danny Brown, Chassisman Steve Bruno, Crewmen, Gregg Bowles and Robert Lee,
Spotter Chad Yuan, and the Student team members, Raymond Fallin, Keenan
Davidson, Cesar Roman, Tequad Tillman, Craig Burns, Angel Wicks, Jonathan Brown,
Zack Hill, and Giorgio Beard invite all of the racing fans and media to stop by
after the races and have a chat with the team and talk to their driver, Michael
Pickens, the number one ranked driver in New Zealand the past five years.

News From Brad Grim Racing
New Tripoli, PA - Brad Grim Toughs Out a 6th Place Finish at Five Mile Point
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
As soon as the green flag dropped for the running of the Sportsman feature event
at the Five Mile Point Speedway
last Saturday night, defending Champion Brad Grim knew right away something was
not right with the motor in his race car. He could feel the loss of power in his
right foot as the car developed a noticable miss that was evident to the crew as
well as everyone sitting in the grandstands. With that, Brad settled in knowing
this would be a night not destined for victory lane.
Brad did what he could in the feature event and brought the TR Kovacs Hauling
Sponsored 611 race car from it's tenth starting spot to a still respectable
sixth place finish when the checkered flag fell. The crew went to work on the
car immediately after the feature and though they felt it might be a loose plug
wire, found the true culprit was a spark plug that had a loose electrode in it,
an obvious defective plug at that.
The Brad Grim Racing crew headed up by owner Gary Grim, breathed a sigh of
relief. Even though the feature event finish was not what they had hoped for,
knowing the problem could be be taken care of, took a lot of weight off of their
shoulders.
The Team will regroup for this week's action as they once again will tackle the
tough Five Mile Point Raceway with the hope of a much better finish this time
out. With a win, a third and a sixth place finish early in the season, Brad Grim
Racing continues to focus on defending the Sportsman title they won a year ago.
Brad Grim Racing would like to thank all of their sponsors for the tremendous
amount of support they have given the team in preparing for another run at the
track title this year. The list of sponsors is headed up by TR Kovacs Hauling,
GTS Gas Welding Supplies, Roy's SK Tools, Queen City Tires, Uncle Nick's Candy,
Wild Bill's Beef and Jim Young Race Photos. A special thanks goes out to the
engine wizardry of Davey George for prepping some strong motors for the run at
the title.

News From Bobby Varin
Sharon Springs, NY - Varin Scores Second Straight Fonda Win, Settles for Third
at Utica Rome ROC Race
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Modified Track Champion Bobby Varin scored his second consecutive win of the
2007 racing season on Saturday Night at the Fonda Fairgrounds. Driving the Nancy
and Jake Spraker owned and sponsored 1J, Varin started the fearture event from
the 11th starting position. A lap three caution for a Jack Johnson-Dave Camara
jingle, had the field bunch up for the restart. Dave Lape, who was looking for
career win 100, and Craig Hanson were setting a torrid pace up front. Tony
Pepicelli entered the picture and now the battle was between he and Lape.
Meanwhile, Varin was making tracks on the inside of the raceway and moved from
ninth to fifth place between turns three and four.
By lap thirteen, Varin was still testing the racing lanes, moved into fourth and
then inherited third when Hanson had a tire go down. Another caution on lap
twenty one had Varin move into the runner-up slot and right behind the leader
Lape. Another caution on lap twenty four set the stage for the final shoot out.
Varin found some tremendous bite out of turn four on the restart and powered
away for the win, his 30th in a stellar career at the Montgomery County
facility.
Matty Delorenzo wound up second with Lape, Camara, and Ronnie Johnson completing
the top five.
The Sunday night ROC Tour race at the Utica Rome Speedway, had Varin starting
the feature event from the ninth starting spot, and utilizing the Nancy and Jake
Spraker 1J for the ROC event. With the race being 75 laps, Varin used extreme
patience in moving to the front. While Willy Decker, who started from the
outside pole, and Danny Johnson, who started sixth, battled back and forth,
Varin moved steadily up through the pack and into third where he would stay the
remainder of the race. Willy Decker would win the race and the four grand that
went with it and the Doctor was the runner-up. Varin did fight off a late
challenge by Vic Coffey to garner third and Coffey was fourth.
Bobby's son Danny, started ninth in his Fonda Sportsman feature event but was
shuffled back to twelveth early on. When racing resumed, Varin began making some
incredible passes to finish in the top five.
The following night at Utica Rome, Danny began from the eighth starting place
and drove hard to the front but ran out of laps as he turned in a fine
performance to secure a second place finish in the final rundown.
The Varins will be back in action again this coming weekend with a Saturday
night stop at Fonda and a Sunday night visit to Utica Rome.

Pesky showers halt Mountain Speedway show
Persistent rain showers forced the postponement of Mountain Speedway’s scheduled
feature events for the street stocks and thriller divisions, this past Saturday.
As the 6 pm start time approached, a brief shower covered the speedway, forcing
track management to shift gears and run the 50 lap 4-cylinder enduro stock event
first, on the damp pavement. As the rain slowed, the action on the track picked
up, with the drop of the green. Travis Fisher, the current 4-cylinder Thriller
division point leader, would lead the field early in the #29X machine, owned by
2006 4-cylinder Thriller champ, Joe Sherman. Trouble would come early for the
#09 of Joe Heintzelman, after first a spin on the frontstretch and then again on
the backstretch, this time collecting the #68 of Harry Sager, would see the #09
retire early. After a brief red flag to remove the #09, teammates Nikki Wachs
and Harry Sager, along with the #29 of Joe Sherman, would battle for the top
spot. As the race approached the half way mark, Luke Colleran would take over
the lead, as his Sager automotive #62, appeared to have the best set up on the
wet track. But, as the track began to dry, the #62 began to lose its handle. In
the mean time, Larry Fisher would begin a charge to the front in his own #8
machine. Fisher, enjoying a rare night off from the late model and modified
division, would assume the top spot at the three quarters mark of the event, and
hold off the challenges of son Travis, to pick up the victory.
Street stock heats were won by Rich Dimarco and Frank Reakes, setting the field
for this coming Saturday’s make-up 40 lap feature, sponsored by National auto
exchange of Berwick, Pennsylvania. Harry Sager and Ricky Ross jr. would claim
the checkered in the Thriller heat races. Their feature will also be made up
this Saturday.
The TQ midgets were also on hand, with the first of two heats scheduled being
completed before the rain returned. Bob Watkins would pick up the win over Ryan
Tidman. The second heat will be run on May 26, when the TQs return to Mountain,
with twin features now on the card for that evening.
A special 5 pm start time will be in place for this Saturday, May 19. The Street
stock and Thriller rained out features will be made up at that time. It should
be an action packed evening with 7 features scheduled including the the regular
Street stock and Thriller features, along with the Modifieds, Late models, and
the Formula race car club of america, for the first of their 4-race oval series.
Pits will open 1 hour earlier, at 1pm. The program will be moved up one hour,
with practice beginning at 3 pm.
Don't Forget, ABC car crushing and auto parts-Mountain Madness enduro # 3 takes
place this Sunday, May 20. 100 laps for both the 4 cylinder and 6/8 cylinder
divisions. Race time is 2 pm.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, New York - Yannone Cashes in for $1500 on Provident Bank Night Victory
by Steve Pados
Modified Rookie Jamie Yannone from Newburgh, New York, took advantage of a front
row starting spot to wire the star-studded Rhinebeck Ford Modified field in a
very popular victory for the young driver. Yannone has successfully made the
transition into the Modified division this year after co-sharing the Sportsman
title last year with Middletown's Danny Creeden, who also shared in the winner's
spotlight last night as he triumphed in the Campers Barn Sportsman feature
event.
Yannone, who also won his heat event, led the impressive Modified field down for
the start of the main event and quickly distanced himself from the rest of the
field. While Yannone was building a sizable margin with each passing lap, the
infighting within the pack had the large enthusiastic crowd on their feet
throughout the running of the event. A fourteenth lap caution for the spinning
Mike Ricci, bunched the pack together for the restart, but Yannone was more than
up to the task as he once again powered away, but this time bringing the Orange
Energy racer of Scott Ferrier and the Jerry Higbie Mid-City Transit car along
with him as the three cars battled the remainder of the way. Yannone came away
with his first win in the Modified division, an impressive turnaround for him,
as he failed to make the starting field in the lid-lifter a week ago, suffering
from a variety of minor mechanical problems.
Ferrier did an outstanding job with his second place finish and Higbie was
spectacular, using all of the multi grooved facility to the best of his ability
in his march to the front with his big block ride. Higbie finished third and Tom
Hindley rode into an impressive fourth from his eleventh starting spot. The
veteran Barry Davis rounded out the top five.
Creeden, who also won his heat event, began the Sportsman feature from fourth
starting place. Ray See Jr was the early leader, but on lap eight Creeden made
the winning pass. Justin Holland from White Lake, New York, was now the man on
the move as he too used the tacky Accord surface to his advantage as he moved
into second and then began to close the distance between he and Creeden with
each passing lap. A last lap bid for the lead fell short as Creeden scored his
first victory of the season. Holland was a close second with Ray See Jr third,
Steve Krom in a great drive was fourth, and Danny Tyler rounding out the top
five.
In a very hotly contested Amsoil Pro Stock feature event, George Christiana led
the first twelve laps with constant pressure being applied by first Norbert
Bracklow, and then both Adam Douglas and Don Williams. Douglas gained the lead
on lap sixteen and then held off a late charge by last week's winner Rob Rowe to
pass under starter Kenny Marshall's checkered flag for the win. Rowe was second
with Williams, Bracklow, and early leader Christiana rounding out the top five.
Don J Williams crossed the finish line first in the Bryant's Towing Pure Stock
feature event, but a post race infraction at the scales resulted in a DQ from
the event handing the win over to Joe Judge. Jason Chevalier wound up second
with James DeCicco II, Ryan Coon, and Gary Ronk completing the top five.
Mid-Week Madness graduate Danny Cross lead the first two laps of the Heart
Chevrolet Spec Sportsman feature event before giving way to eventual winner
Eddie Burgess, who led the remaining thirteen laps to score the victory. Hawley
Smith was a close second with Jeremy Quick, Greg Hastie, and Jamie House
completing the top five running order at the finish.
Clint Roehrs brought his Apple Greens sponsored Mini Sprint from 10 starting
place to win the hotly contested Kingston Nissan Mini Sprint twenty lap feature
event.
West Milford, New Jersey talent Ralph Utter Jr charged from eighth staring
position to the lead in just four laps and immediately opened up a comfortable
lead on the twenty one car starting field. On lap ten, Utter had a left front
tire go flat and as he tried to hang on, Roehers, the defending Champion from a
year ago, siezed the opportunity and took over the lead for good with a
thirteenth lap pass. Roehrs won going away to record his first win of the
season. Utter did a great job holding on for second with the hard charging John
Lodini third, Tim Durland fourth, and Todd Lapp completing the top five.
Dan Curry won the four cylinder event with Ken Hollebeck, Bert Long, Matt Curry,
and Sasha Rumsey following.

his efforts at the Speedway this year. Sportsman campaigner Steve Krom did
likewise as he signed on AMI Services, Windustrial and Country Chevrolet to go
along with Armistead Mechanical to serve his racing efforts this year.
Promoter Gary Palmer had the quarter mile facility in great shape for the
evening's racing as the track provided a tacky surface and multi racing grooves
throughout the evening.
Donnie Elliott looked real strong in winning his heat and scoring a sixth in the
Modified main event. Paul Minton returned with a new race car this week, as the
car he damaged last week in a front stretch altercation could not be repaired.

Mountain Speedway to take part in motorsports caucus set for June 19th
Mountain Speedway, a popular auto racing facility situated in the St. Johns
Valley just a few miles north of Hazleton, will be taking its show on the road
on♠ Tuesday, June 19th. From 9am to 3pm, promoter Joe Callavini along with
co-promoter Mike Odwazny will have the Mountain Speedway two-seater late model
race car present at the state capitol in Harrisburg, for a motorsports caucus.
Located by the fountain, directly behind the capitol building on Commonwealth
Avenue in downtown Harrisburg, race tracks from all over the state will be in
the spotlight. Owners and promoters from many racing venues will be on hand to
raise awareness of their overall economic impact on local businesses neighboring
the more than 75 motorsports facilities state wide. Race cars from various
divisions at both dirt and macadam race tracks will also be on display, and many
top drivers will be appearing. Although a schedule of events is still being
finalized, all race fans are urged to attend the historic event.
“Race days are, by far, our best days at the store”, stated local business
owner, Matt Balliet, who along with his wife Barb, are the proprietors of
Balliet’s Country Corner convenience/fuel station, located just down the road
from the 1/3 mile asphalt oval speed park.
Other area businesses have felt the impact as well. Area hotels and restaurants
have benefited from the revenue generated by Mountain Speedway. Many racers and
fans travel from all over the north-east to attend various racing events at the
track once called Evergreen Raceway, frequenting many of the local
establishments, and spending their share along the way. Statistics show, that if
you can bring a few thousand people to a particular event, even for just a few
hours, it can directly effect local businesses.
Mountain Speedway’s racing season runs from March thru November, with more than
40 events scheduled. The speedway has a great family atmosphere, and is
centrally located in the midst of many populated markets. The experience is
genuine, with an emphasis on community involvement, and providing quality
entertainment.
Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to inquire about how the
exciting and fast paced avenue of motorsports marketing, can directly benefit
them.
For more information, you can contact the speedway office at (570)384-3215 or

representative to show your support.

News From Brea Lopez Motorsports
Vader, WA - Brea Lopez 6th in WMRA Run at Stateline
by Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The Washington Midget Racing Association (WMRA), took it's racing series over to
Idaho this past weekend for what will be the only series event staged out of
state on the 2007 WMRA racing schedule. Walt and Joe Doellefeld's Stateline
Stadium provided the backdrop and the series stars provided the action as Evan
Margeson methodically worked his way towrd the leaders and then took advantage
of Tony Seidelman's late race bobble and took the lead on the final lap to score
the win. Seidelman had led the first 34 laps of the event.
Brea Lopez, the 18 year-old driving talent from Vader, Washington, capped off
another good, solid weekend performance by finishing sixth in the 35 lap main
event. Lopez, finished fourth in her heat, after qualifiying fourth fastest in
the qualification round with a posting of 12.905 seconds around the 1/4 mile
paved Stateline oval.
Lopez later won the four lap A Dash race for the top four qualifiers. She won
the Dash over Brad Curtis, Ken Ferris and eventual feature race winner Evan
Margeson.
Lopez was somewhat disppointed over her sixth place finish at Stateline. In a
phone conversation she explained, "We qualified well and I thought we could make
the car better with a few chassis tweaks. We made far too many changes and wound
up struggling a bit with the car throughout the feature event. I feel I learned
a valuable lesson at Stateline and hopefully can use the lesson the next time we
go racing."
The next scheduled WMRA series event is set to take place on May 26th at the
Wenatchee Valley Super Oval.
After the Wenatchee event, the WMRA will be off until the 9th of June when they
return to action to race at the Ephrata Raceway located in Ephrata, Washington.

Urban Force Racing News
Beloit, WI - Kiwi Ace, Michael Pickens Set for Madison Debut
by Steve Pados, Urban Force Media
After a "David versus Goliath" venture at the ASA Midwest Tour season opener in
Elko, Minnesota two weeks ago, New Zealand Midget ace Michael Pickens is set for
his debut at the Madison International Speedway this coming Friday evening, May
11th. Pickens, who will sit behind the wheel of the ABC Supply/Urban Force
Racing Team car at MIS, will steer the same Madison Late Model division race car
he attempted to qualify at Elko two weeks ago against the more powerful engine
cars of the fledgling ASA super late model series. While the initial outing
didn't go as planned, Pickens did gain valuable seat time in the car with his
first attempt at pavement racing and is looking forward to doing his first
racing on the quick 1/2 mile Madison oval.
The popular Kiwi driver returned to the states in April after a very successful
racing season in New Zealand that saw him win 7 of 15 Midget events along with a
big win in the International Challenge Cup Series with drivers from the United
States and New Zealand in Team Competition. Pickens also gained a win in the
Sprint Cars while racing in New Zealand in his first ever attempt at racing the
powerful winged machines. Pickens has been working with Urban Force Team Manager
Pete Raskovic exclusively in learning the ins and outs of the race car as well
as gaining additional knowledge in working with the Urban Force program in
assisting high school students to learn the technical side of the automotive
industry.
The ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing Team took part in an open practice session
last Saturday at MIS that gave the team some additional information to add to
their notebooks in preparation for opening night. While the Elko event was the
first time the team worked together as one unit, the entire team shared positive
feedback with each other as they work towards being a cohesive operating racing
team, and the MIS practice session reinforced the mission and goals of the team.
When asked to comment, Urban Force Team Manager Pete Raskovic stated, "We
decided to go to Elko to give Michael some valuable seat time. We took an awful
spanking up there as once the track took rubber, we
couldn't stick with the high powered super late model cars. The father of one of
my good friends in racing once stated, there is no substitute for raw horsepower
and it was very evident at the Elko event we were fighting a losing battle."
Raskovic further added, "Opening night at Madison will be a much better playing
field for us. All of the cars will have similar motor programs and we will be
able to get a better read from the track to make the car as competitive as
possible."

New Tripoli, PA - Brad Grim on the Money at Five Mile Point
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
At the season opener a week ago, Brad Grim kicked off the start of his 2007
racing season at Five Mile Point Speedway with a third place finish. While Brad
and the crew were happy with the good start, they also felt the car needed a bit
of tweaking to dial in the car perfectly. With a week to prepare, the team went
to work and made some minor chassis adjustments to the car. They obviously did
their homework as Brad roared from his fifth place starting position to take the
lead in just a couple of laps of racing, and then drove away from the rest of
the field to capture his first win of the 2007 racing season
Brad, a three time winner in both the 2005 and 2006 racing seasons, was elated
as he climbed from his winning race car. Brad stated, "This new Dirt Wheels car
is a great drive. It stuck wherever I put it and the new Davey George powerplant
supplied me the power I needed to win with." Brad later added, "Dad and the crew
went over everything on the car in the past week and we corrected some minor
things we found. They deserve all of the credit for giving me a top notch ride."
Brad and the 611 crew will be looking forward to next week's racing as they
strive to make it two in a row at the Kirkwood facility. Capturing a win early
in the season is uplifting for Brad, the crew, the sponsors and all of the Brad
Grim fans. In defense of the Five Mile Point Sportsman title he won a year, Brad
and the crew realize the preparation work they do at the shop will enable them
to put forth their best efforts to win races and defend the crown.
A special thanks goes out to the
engine wizardry of Davey George for prepping some strong motors for the run at
the title.

Paules takes high groove to victory lane, Volpe notches 1st win in Late Models
By Ginger Kline 5/7/07
It was a weekend that many racers dream of. After picking up a win on saturday
night at another asphalt track, Earl Paules would make it a perfect weekend by
winning the 40 lap feature event at Mountain Speedway. At the drop of the green,
the modified ace from Palmerton, Pennsylvania, would immediately take advantage
of the tacky outside groove, and power his way to the front, taking home the
$1500 top prize. Tony Volpe claimed his first win in the Late Model division,
and pocketed a respectable $800, for his effort. The Thrillers had a great
battle for the top spot with Steve Shultz crossing the finish line first over
Ricky Ross Jr. Travis Fisher displayed determination as he picked up his third
win in a row over talented female driver, Nikki Wachs, who led for much of the
race. Also on hand at the popular 1/3 mile speed park located near Hazleton, PA,
were the Keystone Legends tour as the crowd watched Tim Tomson best runner-up
Jason Rochelle.
The Modifieds got under way with the first of two heat races. Larry Fisher, in
his #19, took the lead by the completion of lap one with pole sitter Ernie
Dengler dropping back quickly to seventh. Fisher was able to hold off the hard
charging #34 of Rusty Smith to claim the victory in Heat One. Heat number two
was led to the line by Kyle Ebersole who held on until lap three when the #8 of
Earl Paules took over. Zane Zeiner, in his #22 made a great charge to the front
but had to settle for second behind Paules in Heat Two. As the Balliet's country
corner Modified feature got underway, Larry Fisher held the pole position but by
lap eight, Earl Paules would overpower Fisher, utilizing the outside groove, to
take the lead from his mid pack starting position. On lap six, the #14 of Amber
Levandowski, climbed the front stretch gaurdrail, sliding all the way into the
turn one wall, sending the safety foam flying and bringing out the red flag. She
walked away from the scary wreck with a wave to the crowd. There were five
caution periods in total during the Mod feature. The #4 of Barry Callavini, had
a great run go sour, as the engine expired in his race works chassised machine.
Towards the end of the event, a fierce battle ensued for second place between
#53 of Brian DeFebo, and Zane Zeiner, in the Martinelli motorsports #22. But
when the checkered flag fell, it was Earl Paules picking up the win, with Brian
DeFebo claiming second over Zane Zeiner.
The first late model heat had Frank Hughes leading the field to the line but by
the time lap one was complete, outside pole sitter, Glenn Heckman, took over the
lead and never looked back. The #9 of Jim Yamelski, in only his second showing
in a Late Model had problems sending him to the infield by the end of lap one.
The heat ran caution free and Heckman claimed victory. In Heat Two, Colin
Dempster lead the field to the start but Joe Hoffman in his #20 took over by lap
one and held the spot for all eight laps. On lap three pole-sitter Dempster went
around on the backstretch, bringing out the first caution. Frank Hughes led to
the green for the feature event, but Glenn Heckman quickly took that spot away.
Lap three saw more problems for Dempster, who spun in turn two, tagging the
wall. As the field got back underway, Heckman spun in turn two on lap four
bringing the caution back out. Lap 11 saw the third and final caution for the
#61 of Hughes spinning in turn three. The remaining 19 laps produced a great
battle for the lead between Heckman and the #11A of Tony Volpe but in the end
Volpe came out on top followed by Heckman, Larry Fisher in third and Jim
Yamelski battling up to fourth after having problems all day.
Harry Sager in his #61 lead the pack to the start of the Thriller Feature
followed by the #98 of Jeff Owler. Sager held the first position until lap 10
when the #25 of Steve Shultz made his way past him for the lead. But the hard
charger was the #99 of Ricky Ross Jr who started the event in the last position
and was in second by lap 10. Lap four saw the only yellow for a spin by #17 of
Josh Oswald on the front stretch. Shaun "Wallbanger" Burd charged his way
through the field from the eighth starting position but ended up settling for
third as the battle was on between Shultz and Ross. Ross tried every way to pass
Shultz in an attempt to claim his third victory of the season but Steve Shultz
won the exciting side-by-side battle across the finish line taking the checkered
flag and the win.
The 4 Cylinder Thriller Feature Event was led to the green by the #63 of Nikki
Wachs. On lap two, the #29 of Joe Sherman, last year’s champion, pulled to the
pits with problems. Fortunately the fans watched a great caution-free race for
this event. Wachs commanded the top spot but the #8 of Travis Fisher was on the
move. By lap five Fisher was up to second after starting the feature in last
place. The crowd was entertained by a great battle as Wachs tried to hold off
Fisher but on lap 18 Fisher found his way around her to claim his third victory
of the season, making it three in a row for last year’s 4 Cylinder Fan Favorite.
Wachs finished a respectable second.
The fans also were delighted by the Keystone Legends Tour this past Sunday.
Their two heats were quite eventful. The 91s of Lamar Shaffer had the lead for
lap one but the R1 of Craig Rochelle took over the lead by lap two. After that
it was a battle of brothers Craig and Jason Rochelle, for the top spot. In the
end it was Craig picking up the win for Heat One. Heat Two began with the #2 of
George Abt leading the field to the green. But Tim Tomson in his #94 took over
the lead on lap two and held it to the checkered with the #02 of Jim Baker
finishing second. The feature event had the #89 of Tim Bauer taking them to the
green flag but as they began the #94T of Troy Lippencott spun in turns one and
two causing a complete restart. Tim Tomson took over the lead on lap one as the
event got underway and never looked back.
Don't forget, Mountain Speedway switches to saturday nights this coming weekend.
National auto exchange of Berwick, will sponsor the Street stock 40 lap event,
paying $750 to win. Also on the card will be Thrillers, TQ Midgets, and a 50 lap
4 cylinder enduro has been added. All enduro cars are welcome for the $300 to
win event, run under the lights for the very first time. Enduro stocks may run
any D.O.T. radial tire with a maximum 7 inch tread width.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, New York - Mike Ricci Flawless in Opening Night Triumph
By Steve Pados, Accord Media
After two consecutive weeks of weather induced cancellations, the 2007 racing
season at Accord Speedway kicked off in spectacular fashion Friday night as 150
plus cars signed in to do battle, a packed house filled the grandstands, and
great racing in all divisions, made the celebration of "Cinco de Mayo" at the
speedway, an opening night to remember.
Promoter Gary Palmer had the 1/4 mile dirt bullring in tip-top shape for the
opening night of racing, highlighted by the 27 Modified cars that signed in, all
hoping to latch onto the $2,000.00 prize being offered to the winner of the 50
lap feature event.
Defending track champion Mike Ricci, followed his brother Rich and Robbie Green
for the first 22 laps of the main event, and occasionally showed signs of
testing different parts of the track to see if he could find the way around the
two 55 numbered race cars. A lap 22 restart allowed Mike to pull alongside of
his younger brother and as the green flag waved on the restart, the pair took
off with Green in hot pursuit. At the halfway sign, Mike taking advantage of the
quicker outside lane, shot into the lead, and led the rest of the way to capture
his initial win of the season.
Rich Ricci Jr held on to take runner-up honors, Jeff Hoetzler brought the Big
Block powered Atlas Paving car home in third, in a great drive, Robbie Green
finished fourth in his initial outing in the Gary Mann owned 55 and the charging
Tom Hindley brought the Smykla Trucking 17H home in fifth.
Mike Senecal wired the field for the Sportsman win while David Bush, Jerry
Craig, Jesse Marks and David Coene followed closely behind to round out the top
five finishers.
The Spec-Sportsman feature was won by Phil Recchio as he too wired the field in
a great run. Danny Conklin and Greg Hastie chased Recchio the checkered flag.
Bill Rion won in the Pure Stocks, even though he was pressured all the way by
Mike Deyo and Bob Gibson.
Rob Rowe started the Pro Stock feature in 13th position and slowly worked his
way to the front. With just a couple of laps remaining in the feature he began
to apply a ton of pressure on early race leader John Roese, and worked his way
past Roese in what proved to be a very popular win for the Walden, New York
campaigner.
Scott Goodrich made his first start in his new car a successful one as he wired
the field in the Mini Sprint feature despite constant pressure from the 2006
Champion Clint Roehrs, who was in his familiar 48 car sponsored by the Apple
Greens Golf Course. 2005 Champion John Lieto returned to action, recovered from
an early spin and charged back through the field to finish and impressive third
with Hank Katz and Todd Lapp completing the top five.
In the 4 cylinder event, Mike Houghtaling won over Dan Curry
MUDPLUGS:
Richie Eurich brought in his signature #10 Collier Motorcar Sponsored big block
car and finished 12th. It was Richie's first time back to Accord since 1968.
Other big block cars included the 66 of Hoetzler and the 97 of Higbie.
Jerry Curry, a top campiagner over at the now closed White Lake facility, showed
he was very adaptable to the Accord dirt surface as he posted a 17th in his
first outing at the speedway.
The Robbie Fairweather crew worked to capacity to repair the 44x after a heat
tangle. Robbie was creditied with a 19th in the final rundown. Danny Creeden was
victimized by a tangle in the Sportsman feature as he was making his bid with
the leaders, sending the 16X to the sidelines.
The "Young Outlaw" Justin Barger was aboard the team 39 Team car to Peter Sindt
and showed signs of racing with the leaders until being felled by mechanical
woes.
Race Night Sponsor, Apple Greens Golf Course were pleased with the two second
places of the cars they sponsor at the speedway with Ricci Jr and Roehrs both
finishing their features in the runner-up slots.
Racing continues at Accord this coming week, May 11th, sponsored in part by
Provident Bank. Racing for all divisions, plus four cylinder enduro racing. Pit
gates open at 4:30, Spectator gates at 5, Hot Laps are at 6:30 and the racing is
set to begin at 7. For additional information regarding the racing at Accord
Speedway, log on to their website at:

weekend begins at Accord.

Mark Pettyjohn competes with Lucas Oil Series
By: T. J. Layne
MILTON, DE-After a rainout on Friday night at the New Egypt Speedway, Mark
Pettyjohn and the Pettyjohn Racing Team invaded the Hagerstown Speedway in
Hagerstown, Maryland for the “26th Annual Stanley Schetrompf Memorial”
sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. This was the first time Mark
has competed with the Lucas Oil Series this season and is also the first time he
has competed in a night race at the legendary half mile.
With a long rain delay and a midnight curfew, Lucas Oil Series officials made
the decision to start the races by pill draw and use a passing points format.
Unfortunately, Mark drew an eight-six so he was forced to start in the rear of
his heat. The car worked well in the heat though as Mark was able to pass three
cars and finish sixth in the Hawk Brake first heat race. That would force Mark
to run in the Penske Shocks second B-Main where he would start sixth. Mark would
finish sixth in the race, coming three spots short of transferring into the
$10,000 to win feature event.
“We definitely did not have the kind of night we had hoped for, but we did gain
valuable experience which will help us in the future at Hagerstown for remaining
special event, night-time shows this season”, said Mark. “Its kind of a downer
that we didn't make the race, but its times like that when I just have to take a
step back and be thankful that nobody got hurt, we brought the car back in one
piece, and we gained valuable experience which will hopefully help us in the
future.”
This week Mark will continue his 2007 tour on Friday night, May 4th for a
regular show at the Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, Delaware. Georgetown has
always been a great track for Mark as he looks to improve on his second place
finish on April 20th and claim his first feature win of the 2007 season. For
more information on this event visit
www.georgetownspeedway.com
Mark Pettyjohn would also like to thank all of his sponsors which include Melvin
L. Joseph Construction, Hitchens Brothers Trucking, Rogers Sign Company, Swartz
Race Cars, and eAction Photos.

Ricky Ross Jr & Travis Fisher Claim Victories for the Second Week in a Row
By Ginger Kline
It was a beautiful afternoon at Mountain Speedway as the large crowd on hand watched the Modifieds, Street Stocks, Thrillers, 4 Cylinder Thrillers, and the TQ Midgets put on a fantastic show. Rusty Smith, would power to the front and take home the $2000 top prize in the Modified division, Jimmy White Jr picked up his first win in the Street Stocks, Ricky Ross Jr was a repeat winner in the Thrillers, Travis Fisher would also make it two for two in the 4 Cylinder Thrillers, and Russ Bailey followed up his victory in the Spring Fling, with a win in the TQ Midgets. The heat winners were Daren Scherer, Wayne Szerencsits, and John Markovic for the Modifieds with Tim Santee winning the Modified Consi. Street Stock heat winners were Jimmy White Jr, JR Roth, and Eric Danyluk. Jeff Owler would pick up the win in the Thriller heat race. Finally, Tim Buckwalter and Russ Bailey took the TQ Midget heats.
Street Stocks took to the track first for their 25-lap feature event and after a brief rain shower, would see the green flag. Jimmy White Jr held the pole in his #19x Monte Carlo and never relinquished the position after having problems last week and not even starting the race. He was challenged by JR Roth until he had problems mid-race and held off a great charge by Paul Frantz, Robert Fink, and Frank Reakes. The race did end under an exciting green-white-checker finish.
The 40-lap Modified feature began next with Daren Scherer on the pole. By lap 11 the intensity was picking up as the #17 of Chris Whitenight battled Scherer for the lead and Rusty Smith, John Markovic, and Chaz Surman came on strong. Whitenight had mechanical problems sending him to the pits and Rusty Smith Took over the top spot and never gave it back. Scherer had to settle for fourth behind the race “Hard Charger” Zane Zeiner who came from 15th up to finish 3rd. John Markovic finished in second.
The TQ Midgets were up next for their 25-lap feature event with Jim Fleischman in his #41 on the pole. By lap 2 however, Russ Bailey took the lead and never looked back. With only three quick caution periods this race was all #51 Russ Bailey. Bailey held the fastest lap of the race with a 13.086 while Lew Ingall was the “Hard Charger” of the race moving up 11 positions during the event.
The Thriller feature saw great side-by-side action for it’s 20-lap event. The #98 of Jeff Owler led the cars to the start but quickly gave up the lead by lap two to the #99 of Ricky Ross Jr. The #7 of Mike Moyer JR. challenged for the top spot but Ross was able to hold him off the entire race. Moyer tried him on the inside and then outside but could not make the pass. Shawn Burd came all the way from the back of the pack after having to restart there for an incident on lap six to finish in third for the day.
Allen Myers started the 4 Cylinder Thriller 20-lap event in the top spot only to have the #63 of Nikki Wachs take the lead in lap two. Travis Fisher in his #8 Fisher Chassis machine began the race eighth but by lap five was already in the second position. On lap nine, Wachs appeared to be headed for her first checkered but suddenly slowed on the backstretch, handing the lead over to Fisher, who held it from that point on. This was his second win in a row keeping him on top of the points standings.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Flory’s: Jason Wins, Kristin Top Ten
By Jarrod Lehman
Creston, OH --- Jason & Kristin Flory (‘Mr. & Mrs. Late Model’) spent their last
Saturday evening at Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH after the track
rained-out on Friday where Jason Flory came home the feature winner in the Late
Model main event while Kristin scored a top ten finish. The Flory’s competed in
their Mastersbilt Race Cars #02 and #U2 sponsored by J & D Truck Leasing, Ray’s
Garage, Medina Mountain Motors, Donnie Moran Racing, Linda Vargo, Glenn 'Jeep'
Davis, Hodge’s Café, Mason Racin’, Lias Tires, Winar Connections, Kurt’s Auto
Parts and Lehman Motorsports Services.
Jason Flory would work his way into the lead only to lose it once before
recapturing the top spot on lap 17 before a last lap caution flew. Once the
green waved it was Jason Flory holding on for the win over defending track
champion Mike Lonas by a foot while Kristin took 10th. Both Jason & Kristin each
won their respective heat races.
“Well, Jason Did great at Lakeville Saturday night,” commented Kristin. “They
rained-out on Friday so we came back because we just wanted to show our support
for the track. We also have many fans that come to Lakeville to watch us and I
hate to disappoint them.”
“Jason felt he had a second place car but was lucky because (Mike) Lonas make a
mistake once and gave him the lead.”
“I started seventh, made it to fourth and spun (I have got to quit doing that!).
The left front upper control arm broke and let the tire fall. I continued to
race and got back to fifth but with four laps to go the left brake hose finally
rubbed a hole through it and I lost all my brakes. So I pulled in with one lap
to go. I had a really fast race car, I just tried to get to the front too fast.”
“I think Jason and I put on a good show for the fans again this week and maybe
next week we will be going door to door for the win.”
This coming weekend Mr. & Mrs. Late Model have tentative plans to race at
Lakeville Speedway on Friday night and KC Raceway on Saturday night.
A new Flory Racing website created by NGR Web Design as well as new Flory Racing
merchandise will be forthcoming.
The Flory Racing Team is also comprised of crew chief Paul McVicker, Dale
Michael, Joe McIlvaine and part time crewmembers Mark Uhler, Helen Uhler & John
Stone.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Chub Frank Scores Best World of Outlaws Late Model Series Finish Of Season
Saturday At Indiana’s Kamp Motor Speedway
BEAR LAKE, PA – April 29, 2007 – The first leg of Chub Frank’s weekend visit to
the Midwest with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series wasn’t to his liking,
but the second half sure was.
After struggling to a 13th-place finish (one lap down) on a rough springtime
racing surface Friday night at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway, the popular driver
known as ‘Chubzilla’ roared back with a strong third-place run in Saturday
night’s ‘Boswell Brawl 50’ at Indiana’s Kamp Motor Speedway.
Chub’s finish at Kamp – a track he had never visited prior to the weekend – was
his best to date in nine events this season on the WoO LMS. He previous high was
a fourth on March 24 at Columbus (Miss.) Speedway.
“We went forward tonight,” a pleased Chub said after advancing from the seventh
starting spot to claim a $3,000 payday at Kamp. “That’s a good thing,
considering the way things have been going.”
The 45-year-old star from Bear Lake, Pa., saw his spring slump continue Friday
night at Farmer City, where the difficult track conditions made the ‘Farmer City
50’ a survival game. But he had his Lester Buildings, Corry Rubber, All Star
Performance, Corry Laser, Lake Shore Paving, Slavic Corporation, Farr
MotorSports, Custom Race Engines Chevrolet Impala SS Rocket Chassis No. 1*
firing on all cylinders at Kamp, a three-eighths-mile oval that sported a racy
surface.
“The longer we ran, the better we were,” said Chub, who reached his final
finishing position of third with a lap-48 pass of Shannon Babb. “We needed the
race to be longer. We probably needed 100 laps.
“The track was good – the best racetrack we’ve been on since Volusia (in
February),” he continued. “You could just race all over it, from top to bottom.
It’s a little hard to pass because the track’s so round that you kind of drive
it sideways all the way around, but I thought it was a real nice place to race.”
Chub ended the weekend ranked sixth in the WoO LMS point standings, 44 points
behind co-leaders Babb (who won at Farmer City) and Clint Smith (who won at Kamp).
The WoO LMS now idle until the five-race ‘Monster Midwest Tour’ kicks off on
Wed., May 9, at the Davenport (Iowa) Speedway Quarter-Mile. Chub and his crew
will take some time to overhaul their equipment in the shop.

News From Bobby Varin
Sharon Springs, NY - Varin Set for Fonda and Utica Rome This Weekend
By Steve Pados
Defending Fonda Modified Champion Bobby Varin began the defense of his title
last Saturday night at the legendary Mohawk Valley raceway. Varin was credited
with a fourth place in the final rundown and is off to a great as he hopes to
land his fourth Fonda title at the end of the season.
Varin, who owns 28 career wins at Fonda, was aboard the Nancy and Jake Spraker
Used Cars and Trucks sponsored 1J numbered Bicknell Chassied, JPM powered
machine. Varin finished third in his heat event, and started on the outside of
the fourth row for the feature event. Varin was able to move up to fourth place
in the feature, but couldn't mount a challenge to the leaders and settled for
the fourth place finish.
In between the heat and feature, the crew made many changes to the car, but a
faulty steering box had Varin fighting for real estate with each passing lap,
but Varin managed to drive a great race and bring the car across the finish line
without incident.
The Fonda surface, still very soft in turns one and two, made it necessary for
the track maintenance crew to groom the track during the evening's racing.
Varin is scheduled to compete this coming Sunday night at the season opener for
the Utica Rome Speedway. He will be behind the wheel of the Dave Cruickshank
Dover Brake 00 for the racing every week at Utica Rome and is hoping to land a
track Championship by season's end.
Bobby's son Danny turned in a great first night effort at Fonda as well. Danny
finished the Sportsman feature with a strong fifth place finish, his best finish
ever at Fonda.
2007 will be a busy year for Bobby Varin as he sets his sights on winning races
and along with the wins, a few more Championships to accompany them. His son
Danny is a star in the making as he follows his Dad's footsteps in racing.

Accord Speedway News
Accord, NY - Accord Speedway Forced to Cancel again. "Cinco de Mayo" on Tap for
Next Week's Opener, $2,000.00 Awaits Modified Feature Winner
Steve Pados, Accord Media
With Mother Nature failing to cooperate with the Speedway, Promoter Gary Palmer
is once again forced to cancel the opening night festivities at the Accord
Speedway. With the torrential storm that hit the area hard on Thursday night and
with more rain scheduled for the Hudson Valley region today, Palmer felt the
best case scenario was to wait another week with the hope the expected warm
weather next week will allow for more favorable conditions for the track to open
it's gates for the seson opener.
In making the decision to cancel, Palmer sadly stated, "We haven't been able to
catch a break this year. The weather has certainly put all of us back on our
heels, as many of the tracks in the Northeast are suffering the same fate."
Palmer further added, "As a Promoter, we have to insure the drivers, fans, and
everyone associated with the speedway, they will see a safe, entertaining show,
and a show they will want to continue to see throughout the year. The weather
has been plaguing our efforts to date, but we will prepare for next week and
hope for fairer skies."
Accord Speedway will present their season opener next week, May 4th, in
conjunction with Apple Greens Golf Course and "Cinco De Mayo" Night. A great
night of racing and entertainment is anticipated for all divisions and
highlighted by a 50-lap Modified feature that will pay $2,000.00 to the winner.
The CNYMS have been removed from the schedule for May 4th, and an alternative
date will be added later.
Gary Palmer and his family have made continuous improvements to Accord since
they purchased the facility in 2000.
From 1962 and heading into 2007, Accord has opened their gates for 45 years. The
new season will punctuate the hard work and effort the Palmers have put into the
facility, offering the best in dirt short track racing.
For more information regarding Accord Speedway, log onto their website at:
http://www.accordspeedway.com
You can also call the speedway hotline at: 845 626 3478. The weekend starts at

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
‘The General’ Sweeps The Weekend; Driver Replacement For IRS
Loudonville, OH --- Ohio-based dirt Late Model star George ‘The General’ Lee
started off his 2007 racing season in a big way last weekend by sweeping both
feature events the leader of Team GLR competed in. Lee took feature wins at
Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH and the following night at Federated Auto
Parts Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH. This weekend Lee will be in North
Carolina working on a NASCAR Busch East team with a Hall of Fame driver slated
to take his seat in his dirt Late Model.
Lee won driving his Maibach Ford of Orrville, OH, Valvoline Oil, Bishop
Collision & Repair Center, American Payroll Advance, Cowen Truck Lines, Hague
Crystal Clear Water, Mason Racin’, Bert Transmission, Hoosier Racing Tire and
Reliable Mold sponsored Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines Ford Fusion #21.
“The weekend was unreal, still can't believe I swept this weekend,” stated Lee
who competed during the weekend battling a severe viral infection. “I never have
done that before. Hilltop was great. Racing with Corey Conley in the dash was
fun and Corey came on strong at the end of the feature. I was able to hold of
his advancements. Unreal opening night!”
”Saturday (crew members) Jeff & Dave worked and checked out the car for Wayne
County, so that allowed me to rest after work before we left. We found out once
we arrived at Wayne County that we needed to work on both the driver and the
car.
We qualified 12th quick and were caught completely off guard by the track. After
changing the set-up and giving the driver a new tune up, we ran the heat race
and finished fifth.”
“Due to the luck of the invert, we started the feature in third. After a lap
three restart I knew that we needed to get into the lead real quick due to the
track showing its hand so on the restart I passed the leader on the outside
going into #1 turn and that was what we needed to stay out in front. Later in
the race Rick Bond was all over me, but I knew I had to keep the car smooth &
straight.”
“Wonderful weekend for the crew. They are just pumped and on our way home, Jeff
asked me very quietly, ‘Think you can be sick all summer?’ I lay back down on
the seat and said no way! (Laughs)!”
Lee will be out of his car this weekend as he travels to Greenville-Pickens, SC
for the NASCAR Busch East race serving as crew chief to driver Tim Cowen.
Lee’s Maibach Ford #21 will be in action regardless this coming weekend for the
inaugural Independent Racing Series (IRS) sanctioned race at Hilltop Speedway.
National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame driver Racin’ John Mason will occupy the
seat for the ‘Deadline 50’.
Fellow Team GLR member Trevor Phillips competed in the main event Saturday night
at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH where he scored an
11th place finish in his Maibach Ford of Orrville, OH, Valvoline Oil, Bishop
Collision & Repair Center, American Payroll Advance, Cowen Truck Lines, Hague
Crystal Clear Water, Mason Racin’, Bert Transmission, Hoosier Racing Tire and
Reliable Mold sponsored Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines Ford Fusion #6.
Tentative plans for Phillips this weekend will either be racing at Lakeville
Speedway in Lakeville, OH or Attica Raceway in Attica, OH.
Lee & Phillips will be spotlighted in a feature article in an upcoming edition
of Dirt Late Model magazine.
Team GLR’s top-notch crew will return for the 2007 season including Jeff (Root)
Long, Dave Hazelet, Kerrissa Darr, Aaron Hullett, Mark & Ed Hagen, Jerry
Phillips and Sherri Lee.

Disappointing Colossal For Keith Barbara
South Park, PA (April 24, 2007) Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports made
the long eight-hour trip to the immaculate Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway
for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned Circle K Colossal 100 that
paid $50,000 to the winner. Unfortunately for the Forbes Field Motorsports team,
some bad luck took the 400 plus mile trip with them.
Unpredictable weather kept Keith parked for Friday and Saturday (April 13th &
14th) as well as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned ‘Showdown in
Sarvertown’ at Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday, April 17th. The race still went
on as scheduled but the team decided to stay home and save the equipment for the
trip to Concord, NC.
The Forbes Field Motorsports team arrived in North Carolina on Thursday (April
19th) with high expectations as Keith had a very good showing in the 2006
edition of the circle K Colossal 100. Keith qualified 40th out of the 92 cars
that took time. “We were fast but I couldn’t get the car to turn getting into
the corner,” mentioned Keith on his qualifying run. The redraw for the heats put
Keith in the 3rd starting position in the 10th of 10 heat races that were only
transferring two cars to the Colossal 100. Keith got off to a good start but
with the car being as tight as it was he was relegated to a 7th place finish and
on his way to the C-Main.
The next day a confident Keith Barbara took his Triangle Benefits Services/Potoka
Trucking/Forbes Field Garage/RanGroup Racing Tours/Rocket Chassis GTO out for
the 20-lap C-Main event. Keith was in a transfer spot and looked to be hooked up
when the motor blew and set fire coming out of turn two. Keith was able to get
out of the burning car safely, “I had the steering wheel off and belts undone
before the car was stopped, my foot was on fire for a minute,” explained
Barbara. “My wife joked with me after, she said that I was on the big screen and
that I should have ran around like Ricky Bobby (character from the movie
Talladega Nights), if I knew I was on the big screen I would have,” joked the
disappointed racer. “I think we had a car that could have made the feature. The
car felt great, we finally got the car loose enough after talking with Mark Bush
from AFCO to get through the corners. It’s just frustrating to have things end
the way they did. The motor seems to be in pretty bad shape,” Keith said from
his shop on Tuesday morning. “We’re going to take it out to Bill (Kell) to see
what happened.”
The teams plans for this weekend include a $5,000 to win, Independent Racing
Series (IRS) sanctioned event at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH on Friday,
April 27th. Keith also has tentative plans to run at Marion Center Speedway in
the Floyd Lockart owned Lias Tire/E&M Motors/Townsend Gas & Oil/Edge Racing
Engines/Warrior Chassis #4 on Saturday as well as ‘Spring Fest’ at Challenger
Raceway in Jacksonville, PA on Sunday.

Misfortune Strikes ‘Chubzilla’ In Circle K Colossal 100
BEAR LAKE, PA – Chub Frank felt great about his chances to contend in Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Circle K Colossal 100 spectacular at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
But Lady Luck didn’t have the same thoughts as ‘Chubzilla,’ whose hopes for a lucrative finishing position were dashed by mechanical trouble just three laps into the second annual event. His Lester Buildings, Corry Rubber, All Star Performance, Corry Laser, Slavic Corporation, Farr MotorSports, Lake Shore Paving, Custom Race Engines, Impala SS Rocket Chassis No. 1* lost oil pressure, forcing him to retire and settle for a 33rd-place finish.
“Something came up (off the track) and hit the dry-sump pump and the engine lost oil pressure,” said Chub, who transferred to the Colossal with a second-place finish in his Friday-night heat race. “I don’t think it hurt the motor, but we sent it back anyway to get checked out.
“The car was good before that happened. We had only run a few laps, but we had already come from 12th to fifth or sixth, so I think we could’ve been in the hunt.”
After being very critical of The Dirt Track’s rough racing surface following the inaugural Colossal 100 last year, Chub praised the conditions this time around.
“The track was awesome – the best track I’ve ever seen at Lowe’s,” said Chub. “I wish we would’ve lasted longer, because you could race all over it.
“It’s a multi-million-dollar facility,” he added, “and they finally got a track (surface) to match it.”
The Colossal 100 was a World of Outlaws Late Model Series event, but it offered only show-up points so Chub didn’t take a hit in the tour championship battle. He remains fifth in the standings, 22 points behind co-leaders Shannon Babb and Clint Smith.
Chub will head to the Midwest this weekend for a World of Outlaws Late Model Series doubleheader, competing at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway on Fri., April 27, and Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Ind., on Sat., April 28.

April 22, 2007 Ginger Kline
Zeiner shines on opening day at Mountain Speedway
A near capacity crowd graced Mountain Speedway on what turned out to be a
picture perfect Spring day in the Pocono foothills. This past Sunday’s season
opener saw all five of Mountain’s regular divisions take to the speedway. The
Modifieds, Street Stocks, Late Models, Thrillers, and 4 Cylinder Thrillers each
saw great racing action. The starting positions had been determined on Pole Day
April 1, 2007. A number of additional Modifieds registered and ran a consolation
event to fill the 20-car starting grid.
Many drivers showed the opening day jitters, As pole sitter Larry Fisher, had
John Cote to his outside. On lap four the #45 of Ernie Dengler spun on the
backstretch bringing out the caution flag. Restarting lap four took a few tries
and two laps later, the caution flew once again. The #14 machine of Amber
Levandowski went into a spin on the front stretch. A pair of cautions would
follow, one for Chris Whitenight and a few laps later for Lewis Hallock. On lap
19 Ernie Dengler spun again on the backstretch and the 35 of Larry Altholtz spun
in turn four. The action would become intense as Zane Zeiner over took Larry
Fisher for the lead on lap 27, with a bold, three wide power move, utilizing a
lap car. This would turn out to be the winning move for the talented Martinelli
motorsports hot shoe. Amber Levandowski did not have a good day hitting the wall
in turn one bringing out the ninth caution of the race on lap 28. Brian Defebo
in his #53, Defebo graphics entry would glue himself to Zeiner’s rear bumper and
by lap 30 the two of them pulled away from the rest of the field. Tom Wanick
spun on lap 32 in turn two. This ended up bunching the field up with Zeiner and
Defebo continuing their battle but it was Zane Zeiner coming away with the win
and the $2000 top prize. Ed Brunnhoelzl III, the 2006 modified champion,
finished in third.
The Street Stock race had the #78 of Robert Fink on the pole with the 44C of
Chip Wanamaker starting next to him in second. JR Roth got together in turn four
with the #13 of CJ Lehmann before lap one was recorded in the books. By lap 20,
Chip Wanamaker, Brad Kline, and Eric Danyluk were battling for the lead. Brad
Kline started the race in the ninth position and worked all the way up to battle
for the top spot. Frank Reakes in his #14 machine got together with Robert Fink
in turns one and two had had to restart at the tail end of the field. By the end
of the race Fast Frank Reakes worked all the way back to the fourth position.
The #28 of Jerry Hilderand spun in turn two, which led to a very exciting
green-white-checkered finish. As Wanamaker, Kline, and Danyluk battled for the
lead the checker flew for Chip Wanamaker, followed closely by Eric Danyluk and
then Brad Kline.
The Late Model 30-lap feature began with the #69 of Glenn Heckman on the pole
and Larry Fisher in his familiar number #19 in the second position at the drop
of the green flag. Fisher took over the lead on lap one when Heckman’s #69
machine spun in turn two and then again on the restart of lap two. On lap 18,
the #9 of Jim Yamelski broke a driveshaft ending his late model debut. It came
down to Larry Fisher and Zane Zeiner battling for the lead however unlike the
modified event Larry Fisher came out on top winning the first Late Model Feature
of the season. Zane Zeiner finished second and Roger Maynor came in third.
Mike O’Byrne began the Thriller feature on the pole but after taking the green
flag he lost the lead to second place starting Bill Price Jr when they came back
around to the start/finish line. The first caution flag waved on lap four when
the #25 of Steve Shultz spun out, off the front bumper of Shaun “Wallbanger”
Burd, in turn four. Burd would be sent to the back for rough riding. On lap
eight the caution flag waved again for the #7 machine of Mike Moyer Jr who spun
in turn two. On lap 11, Ricky Ross Jr took over the top spot passing the #48 of
Price. Prices’ day would end early on lap 16, when while running in second
place, something let go in his machine bringing out the caution for fluids.
Ricky Ross Jr took the checkered flag winning the first feature event of the
season followed by a hard charging, Shaun Burd and Steve Shultz.
The 20-lap 4 Cylinder Thriller feature ran very smoothly with only one caution.
Travis Fisher started on the pole and by the halfway point of the race was a
straightway ahead of the rest of the field. The #63 of Nikki Wachs spun going
into turn three and was done for the day bringing out the only caution period.
On lap six, Joe Heintzelman’s day was done when he had mechanical difficulties.
It was Travis Fisher starting on the pole and taking the win, followed by the
2006 defending champion Joe Sherman, and David Sokol would end up third.

Mark Pettyjohn finishes second at Georgetown
By: T. J. Layne
MILTON, DELAWARE-Mark Pettyjohn and the Pettyjohn Racing Team invaded the
Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, Delaware for their first Super Late Model
event of the season on Friday night, April 20th. The night started out great for
Mark as he won the second heat race to give him the second place starting
position for the 25 lap feature event. In the feature, Mark drove a great race
and came home in the second position, a great way to start out the Georgetown
season.
What was even more special about the second place finish was Mark’s brother
Kenny Pettyjohn won the nights feature event while his other brother, David,
moved his way up from the eleventh starting position to finish third in the
feature to make it a Pettyjohn sweep of the podium positions. “I would have
liked to had won, but I was also happy for Kenny”, stated Mark. “I am glad that
we had a strong run, we just have to get all of the bugs worked out of our new
car and then we'll be ready to win some races!”
This weekend Mark plans to invade the New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ on
Friday, April 27th to compete in the speedways first weekly Super Late Model
show. With a good run on Friday night Mark will then head to the Hagerstown
Speedway in Hagerstown, MD for the “26th Annual Stanley Schetrompf Classic”
sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on April 28th. Mark states he
will only be at Hagerstown if all goes well on Friday. For more information on
these events visit

Mark Pettyjohn would also like to thank all of his sponsors which include Melvin

DMB Motorsports Hits Williams Grove, Shootout Next
Lebanon, PA (April 19, 2007) DMB Motorsports was one of the many teams that took
the long drive last Friday to the 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series
sanctioned 'Cabin Fever 50' at New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey only to get the
unfortunate news that the event was cancelled. They, like a few other teams left
New Egypt, NJ in enough time to make it to Mechanicsburg, PA to compete at
Williams Grove Speedway.
The team arrived at Williams Grove just in time for both Jim Bernheisel and
Bryan Bernheisel to take a few practice laps. Jim would finish third in his heat
race and Bryan sixth in his. Jim's third place finish put him in the re-draw for
the feature and as usual, Jim pulled a terrible pill. Jim would start 11th in
the feature but make his way up to the 8th position by the time the checkered
flag fell. "The car was excellent," said the always pleasant Jim Bernheisel, "We
had a 5th place car, just couldn't get around a few of those guys. I needed that
run to knock some more of that rust off. I think we're okay now." Unfortunately
Bryan didn't make it out of the B-Main and had to sit out the feature event.
"Bryan was a little disappointed with Friday night," stated DMB Motorsports Crew
Cheif Brandon Bernheisel, "I told him to keep his head up. He shows plenty of
promise, he'll be fine."
Jim Bernheisel will be back in action on Friday, April 20th at Hagerstown
Speedway in Hagerstown, MD and Saturday, April 21st at Winchester Speedway in
Winchseter, VA for the Hagerstown/Winchester Shootout paying $3,000 to win each
night. Bryan will take the week off and be back in action at New Egypt Speedway
in New Egypt, NJ on Friday, April 27th.
The DMB Motorsports #1J driven by Davey Johnson will be back in action in two
weeks when the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series visits Hagerstown Speedway on
Saturday, April 28th and then Sunday, April 29th for the 5th Annual Spring Fest
at Challenger Raceway in Jacksonville, PA.
Jim Bernheisel, Bryan Bernheisel, and DMB Motorsports would like to thank all of

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
‘Chubzilla’ Puts Tough Mid-Atlantic Swing Behind Him
BEAR LAKE, PA – April 19, 2007 – All race car drivers know that no matter how
good things seem to be going, they will eventually experience a forgettable
stretch of action.
Such was the case for Bear Lake, Pa.’s Chub Frank, who would like to quickly put
the five-day 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series swing through the
Mid-Atlantic region behind him.
The 45-year-old star known as ‘Chubzilla’ wasn’t happy following a frustrating
five-day period that included the postponement of the Friday-night (April 13)
‘Cabin Fever 50’ at New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway; a quiet 10th-place finish at
Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday evening (April 14); and an unspectacular
15th-place outing on Tuesday night (April 17) at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver,
Pa.
Chub kicked off the swing on Friday by seeing his 400-mile-plus haul to New
Egypt Speedway go for naught. He parked his hauler in the pit area early in the
afternoon with those of nearly two dozen other racers, but he never unloaded his
Lester Buildings/Corry Rubber/All Star Performance/Corry Laser/Slavic
Corporation/Farr MotorSports/Lake Shore Paving/Custom Race Engines Chevrolet
Impala SS Rocket Chassis No. 1*.
With the half-mile oval’s surface turned to soupy mud by heavy rain the previous
day and little sun peeking through the clouds to help the drying process, it was
clear that the speedway would not be ready for racing on time. Considering that
strong winds and cool temperatures would create uncomfortable conditions for
fans, track and 360 OTC WoO LMS officials announced that the event would be
postponed to Thurs., June 21, when the $10,000-to-win race will be part of the
‘Great Northern Tour.’
While seven race teams took the New Egypt cancellation as an opportunity to pay
a visit to the casinos of nearby Atlantic City, N.J., Chub hit the road and
started chugging toward Virginia Motor Speedway. The weather forecast for
Saturday’s ‘Rumble on the River III’ gave Chub and Co. reason to wonder if a
second straight show would be lost, but despite some early-afternoon showers the
program was spun off before a huge rain system arrived at the track as the
midnight hour approached.
Chub qualified well (eighth-fastest in time trials, third place in his heat),
but he was never a factor in the feature. He started eighth and fell back to a
10th-place finish – keeping his 360 OTC WoO LMS ledger perfect with five top-10s
in as many races, but still not pleasing the hard-nosed driver.
“We just missed something,” said Chub. “We weren’t very good. We were just out
there holding on.”
Chub left VMS tied with Clint Smith for second in the 360 OTC WoO LMS point
standings – and with high hopes for the next event, which happened to be at
Lernerville Speedway, one of his favorite tracks. He owns two WoO victories at
the four-tenths-mile oval.
‘Chubzilla’ was uncharacteristically a non-factor, however, in Lernerville’s
‘Showdown in Sarvertown 50,’ which was run on a cold, damp and windy night. His
problems began during time trials – he got sideways in turn four on his first
lap and could only manage the 24th-fastest time (out of 50 cars) on his second –
and got worse from there. He missed transferring in both the heat and B-Main by
one spot, forcing him to use a points provisional to get in the feature.
Chub started 23rd and was able to climb within shouting distance of the top 10
before heading to the pit area during a lap-15 caution period. The culprit: a
broken birdcage shock mount on his car.
Chub’s crew fixed the machine and got him back on the track to complete 37 laps.
At the start of Lernerville’s program Chub had expressed concern that the track
surface wouldn’t slick off the way he likes it due to two days of rain, and he
was right. “This wasn’t the typical Lernerville,” said Chub, pointing at the
heavy, fast track.
Chub departed Lernerville ranked fifth in the 360 OTC WoO LMS point standings,
22 points behind co-leaders Shannon Babb and Clint Smith.
Chub’s next appearance in WoO tour competition will be this weekend’s (April
20-21) Circle K Colossal 100 at The Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in
Concord, N.C.
Last weekend’s 360 OTC WoO LMS events at Virginia Motor Speedway and Lernerville
Speedway were taped for broadcast on SPEED. The cable network will air the VMS
action on Sun., May 20, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET and the Lernerville racing on
Sun., May 27, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET.

E RELEASERE: FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY RACING THIS SATURDAY – 5:30 P.M.

FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY SOUTHERN ADDS RACE PROGRAM FOR THIS SATURDAY, APRIL 21ST AT 5:30 P.M.
KIRKWOOD, NY…Yes it’s true Five Mile Point Speedway has added a complete racing program this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. In competition will be the Modifieds (30 laps), Sportsman (25 laps), Pure Stocks (25 laps), Lightning Cats and A League of Their Own. The scheduled paid practice will still take place between 1 and 4 p.m. this Saturday prior to the added racing program.
Despite the snow that fell earlier this week Five Mile Point Speedway is ready for racing action this Saturday. The Modifieds will do battle in a 30 lap open competition event. This means that any 92 x13 tire may be run along with sail panels. The Sportsman will compete in a 25 lap event with any 92 x 13 inch tire allowed (no aluminum wheels). The Pure Stocks, Lightning Cats and a League of Their Own will also be in racing competition. Qualifying events will get underway at 5:30 p.m.
The paid open practice will still take place on Saturday. This will be held between 1 and 4 p.m. It is open to divisions racing at Five Mile Point Speedway during the upcoming season. Gates will swing open for practice at 12 noon. Spectators will be admitted free into the grandstand for the practice session as a sneak preview of the racing action.
Five Mile Point Speedway owner Andrew Harpell remarked, “This may seem a bit off-the wall to some but our facility will be ready to go for a full fledged racing program on Saturday.” He added, “We will certainly be watering the speedway on Friday in preparation for the event.” Lastly he stated, “We have a facility that is race ready and our phones have been ringing off the hook from race teams just looking for a place to race. We are providing them that opportunity.”
Despite the recent snow on Monday the speedway surface is ready to go and the remainder of the grounds dried up remarkably on Wednesday. With the speedway tucked in the valley of Kirkwood it received several less inches of snow than many of the nearby hilltops. The facility drainage is very good and in 1995 the speedway received eight inches of snow on the Thursday prior to the Saturday opening day event and it still went off without a hitch. History will repeat itself this Saturday as racing will take place.
Last Saturday the speedway was in fantastic condition for the open practice that was held. There was a buzz around the pits and the times were super quick and surface was the typical multi grooved. The speedway was re graded and packed tight prior to the snow and is ready for racing action.
Pit gates for the paid open practice will swing open at 12 noon. Practice will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The pit gates will reopen at 4:15 p.m. with racing set for 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for the racing program.

Bruce Kline Racing
News
Bangor, PA - Kline Satisfied with Rehab, To be in OCFS Opening Night Field
By Steve Pados
Bruce Kline suffered through an agonizing year in 2006. After just three events
into the season, "The Bangor Bullet"
suffered a shoulder injury, putting him on the shelf for what was thought to be
six weeks of rehab. The nagging injury took longer than expected to heal, but as
Kline was set to return to action in Mid-July, he reinjured the shoulder, once
again curtailing any hopes of returning to action at the Speedway in 2006.
After months of rehab, his Doctor finally gave him a clean bill of health to
resume his racing career. With the car being only three shows old, Kline
basically cleaned the car up, made some changes he felt would be beneficial, and
made the tow to Orange County on Saturday to shake-down the car, but more so to
test himself and to make sure the injury was healed.
Kline ran five hot lap sessions, improved with each session, and overall said it
felt great to be back behind the wheel of a race car once again. After the final
session of the day, Bruce remarked, " We began the day becoming acclimated to
the car again. With each lap around the track I felt better and better, and felt
with this last session, we really had the car close. The shoulder gave me no
problem whatsoever, and I am looking forward to returning as a regular to Orange
County." Kline further added, "We will definitely be here for the opener, and
then we will see how our wallet holds up, and hopefully we will be here racing
every week."
Kline will have his signature numbered 59, TEO Chassied car with Van Horn Power
between the rails, ready for the opener with sponsorship help from his auto
repair business of 25 years, Kline's Auto Repair, acting as his main source of
funding. Additional help comes from longtime sponsors, RG Hoffman, Pennzoil, and
Van Horn Engines.
"The Bangor Bullet" hopes to be on target in his return to the Modified wars.
With the Season opener for OCFS scheduled this coming Saturday on the 21st, he
hopes to land a "bullseye."
During the racing season, you can catch Bruce doing his weekly racing report,
"Inside the Cockpit Report" with the CARQUEST Gasoline Alley Gang on WALN
Digital Cable every Monday night at 6 PM on Channels 126 ,and 137. You may also
catch them on the worldwide web at:

Accord Speedway News
Accord, NY - Opening Night, Accord Set To Go Green, 2 G's Awaits Winner
Steve Pados, Accord Media
Everything is in order and ready to go as Accord Speedway prepares to go racing
this coming Friday night, April 20th. The season opener will mark the 7th season
the Palmer Family has been at the controls and the 45th season of racing at the
Ulster County 1/4 mile bullring. The Palmer Family has been working non-stop on
the track and it's facilities in preparations for what is expected to be a
banner season for the management team.
The weather picture is expected to be free and clear from the many storms the
area has been suffering from of late.
All divisions will take part in the season opener, and opening night is
sponsored by the TerraNova Four Seasons Pizzeria and the evening will be
highlighted by a 50 lap feature event for the Modifieds paying $2,000.00 to win.
From last week's practice session, it appears all divisions will have some
fierce competition within the ranks, and much of the attention will be focused
on the Modified division as rules allowing the Big Blocks to compete, were met
with great interest, and will bring in some new faces to try their hand at the
speedway. Big Block powered cars must weigh in at 2500 pounds, 2004 DIRT legal
358 cars must weigh 2400 pounds, and all other combinations must weigh 2600
pounds to fit within the new rules. Modified Track Champion Mike Ricci will be
in action as he prepares to defend his title, and he will receive strong
competition from brother Rich, Robbie Greene, Jackie Brown, Dom Roselli, Andy
Bachetti, John McGill, Mel Shrufer, and a host of others all looking to pass
under the checkered flag first.
In addition to the new indoor seating area and the new VIP Tower, Promoter Gary
Palmer has announced plans for a newly designed Winners Circle with high density
lighting and a TV type broadcasting booth for the Winners Circle. Driver
interviews from all divisions will greet the fans arriving at the racetrack
early. Race night sponsors and VIP guests will be included with the new
interview area, as Promoter Gary Palmer seeks to give as much recognition as
possible to the drivers, owners and sponsors who support this gem in the
Catskills.
Pit Gates will open on the 20th at 4:30, Spectator gates will open at 5 PM. Hot
Laps will take pace at 6:30 and the season will kick off at 7. The new season
will punctuate the hard work and effort the Palmers have put into the faciltiy,
offering the best in dirt short track racing.

Covert Dodges Rain, Competes At Williams Grove and Virginia
York Haven, PA (April 18, 2007) Barry Klinedinst Motorsports and 2006
Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Champion Jason Covert had their weekend
plans changed for them again this past weekend as weather would again play havoc
on their original intentions.
Covert and team drove all the way to the 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model
Series sanctioned "Cabin Fever 50' that was scheduled to be held at New Egypt
Speedway in New Egypt, NJ but wet weather earlier in the week forced New Egypt
Speedway to postpone the event. The team decided to pack up and head back west
to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.
The decision to make the trip to Williams Grove turned out to be a good one as
Jason was able to finish third in his Pre-Mach, Inc./Red Wing Shoes/Hershey’s
Racing Engines/ Baker Carburetion/Bam’s Auto Center/Kuppy’s Diner/Rocket Chassis
Monte Carlo. "It was an okay night," said Covert, "I was just a little to tight
to race with those guys, (race winner Rick Eckert and runner-up Gary Stuhler) we
ran with Eckert there for a little bit but then he just got away from us. But it
was a good run."
The next night Jason and team found themselves at Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor
Speedway in Jamaica, VA for the 'Rumble on the River III' sanctioned by the 360
OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Covert was able to transfer to the
$10,000 to win A-Main through his heat race by virtue of his sixth place finish.
Unfortunately Jason didn't fair so well in the 'Rumble on the River III' as the
team missed the setup and was regulated to a 17th place finish after pulling off
on lap 35 due to a ill handling race car.
This weekend the team plans on hitting both legs of the Hagerstown/Winchester
shootout at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD on Friday, April 20th and
Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA on Saturday, April 21st.
Jason Covert and Barry Klinedinst Racing would like to thank all of their

Robinson Ready for New Season
By Bruce C. Walls
Following a stellar rookie season Cody Robinson, of Dayton, OH, is ready to
repeat it again this year. To do that the 14-year-old L&T Racing powered Arrow
kart pilot will have to earn another eight championships.
Robinson’s rookie campaign started in the middle of last winter at Daytona
International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL during Daytona Kart Week. There, in
2005 at 13-years-old, he earned his first win of the season in HPV Jr. Lite.
From there his team followed the national tour traveling to Dousman, WI, East
Lansing, MI, and Concord, NC. Along with traveling the national circuit they
also earned national transfer points racing in the Midwest Sprint Series (MWSS).
His inaugural season, 2005, he raced with the Ohio Valley Karting Association (OVKA)
club. He still makes some of their shows during the season. He also campaigned
with the Stars of Karting competing in the Cadet class his first season.
Last season he earned two Manufacturer’s Cup national titles champing the HPV
Junior Divisions Lite and Heavy. In the Midwest Sprint Series Cody got special
recognition for earning four championships. He swept both HPV Junior classes
there and added titles in Yamaha Super Can Lite and Heavy. Robinson was also
presented with the Sprint Award for dedication and passion for winning in the
sport of karting. In the Great Lakes Sprint Series Robinson earned titles in HPV
Junior Lite and Heavy.
“It took a good engine, a good kart and a little bit of luck,” Robinson credited
adding, “But the big thing that helped me win most was all of the support from
everybody.”
This year Robinson will continue campaigning in the Yamaha Junior Can and HPV
Junior lite and heavy classes. “I’m really proud of the way Cody has learned
from his experiences and was able to master the different tracks we competed at
last year,” his father Jeff proudly stated adding, “He’s developed into a driver
with very good instinct and has become a big help with setting up and making
adjustments to the karts for different track conditions and classes. It’s been a
lot of fun and we’ve met many great people along the way. I hope he wants to
continue racing and moves up as he matures, but that will be up to him.”
For this year, competitors know that Robinson is capable of keeping his Arrow
kart at the top of the leader board and in victory lane. During the season you
can keep up with his progress at

press release:
Mountain Speedway season opener rescheduled to April 22
Due to the cold and wet weather that has moved into the northeast, the opening
day extravaganza, originally set for Sunday, April 15th, has been rescheduled
until Sunday, April 22nd. Headlined by the mighty tour type asphalt modified 40
lap event, which pays a respectable $2500 to win (with 28 mods signed in the pit
area), the much anticipated lid lifter for the 1/3 mile facility located in St.
Johns, Pennsylvania, just north of Hazleton, will look to fire off the first
feature event at 2 pm-one week later than originally planned.
Also seeing action on the 22nd will be the Late Models, Street Stocks,
Thrillers, and 4 cylinder Thrillers.
The ATQMRA’s “Spring Fling Thunder at Mountain Speedway” has also been
rescheduled along with the “Winged 100” enduro event which shared the card.
Originally set for Saturday, April 14th, the event has been shifted back one
week to Saturday, April 21st. The lightning fast TQ Midget racers will compete
for a $10,000 purse and pit drivers from all over the northeast and Canada
against each other. Keeping the theme of midget and sprint car racing, enduro
racers will be bolting wings to the roof of their full bodied racers and looking
to jet to the $747 top prize.

HESSERT HOPING FOR BETTER WEATHER AND GETTING BACK TO RACING
CHERRY HILL, NJ
April 14, 2007 . . . Tom Hessert is chomping at the bit to get back to racing.
Bad weather throughout the country has kept the young racer from racing for the
past two weekends. He is hoping that Ma Nature will bring some good weather to
Winchester, Indiana Speedway for the Sunday, April 22nd Rich Vogler Classic for
the Lucas Oil United States Auto Club Sprint Car Series event.
Hessert, a Cherry Hill, NJ college student, was scheduled to race in a USAC
National Championship Midget race in Texas last weekend and that was rained out.
This weekend he was set to race in Anderson, Indiana with the USAC Sprint Cars
and that event was postponed due to weather problems.
After two weeks of traveling and no racing, Hessert is anxious to climb back in
the cockpit of a race car.
“I have really been looking forward to getting back in the Midgets and the
Sprint Cars,” said Hessert who has been busy with some stock car testing
sessions. “I just hope that the weather works in our favor next weekend.”
At Winchester Speedway he will be in the MAACO America’s Body Shop sprint car
for the first time this season. The race will be a 30-lapper on the historic
high-banked, one-half-mile asphalt oval.
Hessert gets back to stock car racing on April 28th when he races in the USAR
Hooter’s ProCup Naturally Fresh 250 presented by Greased Lightning at Concord,
NC Motorsports Park.
This will be Hessert’s third outing of the season in a Chevy owned by David Ifft
Engineering. Ifft, a former NASCAR Cup crew chief will be Hessert‘s crew chief.
Again the Chevy will carry sponsorship from MAACO America’s Body Shop.
Hessert plans to run all of the Southern Tour events on the USAR Hooter’s ProCup
Series schedule and is chasing the Rookie of the Year title.
On May 5th Hessert will pull double duty as he races in both the Sprints and the
Midgets as part of the Casey’s General Stores Triple Crown event at Iowa
Speedway (Newton, Iowa). The 20-year-old veteran racer will be taking part in
the Lucas Oil USAC Sprint Car segment of the show that is topped by a 30-lap
feature on the 7/8th-mile asphalt tri-oval and the USAC National Championship
Midget segment that will also be topped by a 30-lap feature. In both events
Hessert will have sponsorship from MAACO America’s Body Shop.
In the Midget events Hessert will be in a Beast chassis with Esslinger Ford
power with Jeff Pogo as the crew chief. Pogo will also be the crew chief on the
Sprint Car that will be a Beast chassis using a Stanton Mopar engine.
The Triple Crown event will also offer a Silver Crown race and a post race
concert by Blake Shelton.

Accord Speedway News
Accord, NY - Accord Postpones Practice Until Saturday, April 14th
By Steve Pados
A slow moving but persistent storm has left the grounds at Accord Speedway too
wet and sloppy for the scheduled April 13th practice session. The storm, which
seemingly stalled at the Accord gates, finally moved out of the area after
midnight, but promoter Gary Palmer made the decision to give the speedway and
grounds an extra day to recover from the latest area storm that has kept Accord
from opening it's gates for the opening practice sessions. The Palmer Family has
been working non-stop on the track and are hoping for some cooperation from
mother nature to allow all of the racers the opportunity to dial in their
racecars for the new season set to begin next week.
Accord Speedway will utilize the raindate of April 14th for the opening practice
session. There will be no admission fee to the spectators hoping to get a first
hand look at the new equipment set to do battle this year at the speedway. The
Gates at the speedway will open at 4:30. On April 20th, the Palmer Family will
kick-off their 7th year at the controls of Accord with racing for all divisions,
sponsored by TerraNova Four Seasons Pizzeria, and highlighted by a 50-lap
Modified feature that will pay $2,000.00 to the winner.
Much interest has centered around the Ulster County bullring during the
off-season, as the Modified rules have been opened up to allow Big Blocks and
other combination motors to compete as long as they meet the weight break for
their specific motor combination. Big Block powered cars must weigh in at 2500
pounds, 2004 DIRT legal 358 cars must weigh 2400 pounds, and all other
combinations must weigh 2600 pounds to fit within the new rules. Many new faces
are expected to be in the opening night field with the big payout offered to the
competition.
In addition to the new indoor seating area and the new VIP Tower, Promoter Gary
Palmer has announced plans for a newly designed Winners Circle with higher
density lighting and a TV type broadcasting booth for the Winners Circle. Driver
interviews from all divisions will greet the fans arriving at the racetrack
early. Race night sponsors and VIP guests will be included with the new
interview area, as Promoter Gary Palmer seeks to give as much recognition as
possible to the drivers, owners and sponsors who support this gem in the
Catskills.
Gary Palmer and his family have made continuous improvements to Accord since
they purchased the facility in 2000.
From 1962 and heading into 2007, Accord has opened their gates for 45 years. The
new season will punctuate the hard work and effort the Palmers have put into the
faciltiy, offering the best in dirt short track racing.
