ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS

Accord, New York - Mid-Hudson Concrete Night Produces New Winner in Ferrier and Fourth Win for Bachetti at Accord
by Steve Pados, Accord Media

With a hot and humid night centering in the Hudson Valley, Promoter Gary Palmer was finally able to complete a full race show at the Accord Speedway for the first time in five weeks. After three straight rainouts and last week's partially completed show, the jam-packed grandstands were treated to a great night of rim-riding racing activity as Mother Nature finally cooperated with the seventh year track promoter/owner.

Due to the incomplete racing show from a week ago, the Rhinebeck Ford Modifieds took to the raceway to begin the evening's racing events. The feature, which had just begun last week prior to the rainout, was a complete restart with Donnie Elliott and Scott Ferrier bringing the twenty car field down for the start. Ferrier and Elliott raced side by side into turn one and and two and it was Ferrier, getting an extreme bite on the outside of the multi-grooved facility, hustling his Orange Energy sponsored mount into the lead. Ferrier was brilliant as he moved his racer from the bottom to the top of raceway with relative ease.

A lap-7 incident that saw John Lutes Jr get out of shape and crash into teammate Jesse Kline's Lutes prepped machine, left the "Bangor Blast" with a heavily damaged race car and one extremely sore and bruised body as the crash impact was so severe it broke the seat loose in the car.

Once the racing resumed it was Ferrier again breaking away from the field, but Rich Ricci Jr and Robbie Green were on the move. Ricci Jr, using the all of the raceway worked his way into second place by lap-16, but an incident on lap-17 sent Mike Ricci into the inside barrier, wounding the racer and sending it across the track and bouncing off the boiler plate before bringing the car to halt in turn three.

With a single file restart, Ferrier again powered away, but this time Ricci Jr stayed close. As the laps clicked away, Ferrier maintained a slight advantage and the duo soon hit lapped traffic. Ferrier and Ricci Jr were both able to slice through the traffic and Scott Ferrier crossed the finish line first to secure his first win at Accord in the 2007 racing season. Ricci Jr, the current Rhinebeck Ford Modified point leader, settled for second in a great run from 12th staring position. Robbie Green finished third from 19th starting spot, Mel Shrufer was fourth, and Jerry Higbie had the Mid City Transit Big Block car hooked up with the solid fifth place after starting in 11th.

In the Amsoil Pro Stock feature event, Adam Douglas jumped into the early lead from his second starting spot and led the first seven laps of the 20-lap race. Don Williams, who moved into the runnerup slot early on, seized his moment as he powered into the lead off of turn two on an eighth lap restart. Willimans led the remainder of the way in winning his second feature of the 2007 campaign. Adam Douglas finished in he runnerup slot with Jon Routhier, Rob Rowe, and Pat Zimmer completing the top five.

The Campers Barn Sportsman feature event saw Connecticut's John Sundlof leading the way for three laps before yeilding to Neversink, New York driver Steve Krom. Krom used the bottom side of the raceway to complete the pass.
Even though Krom led the remainder of the way, lots of great mid-pack racing had the fans on their feet watching the great action taking place trackside. Krom brought his Armistead Mechanical sponsored mount home first with Mike Senecal finishing second. Larry Hendershot, who started in 12th starting place, drove his Hendershot Excavating sponsored machine home in third. Tom Tomasko and Joe Giachinta completed the top five.

The Heart Chevrolet Spec Sportsman division feature event saw Milford, Pennsylvania driver Danny Sherlock lead the first 10-laps of the feature. Sherlock began to lose the handling on the race car and the veteran Burt Irwin Jr took advantage and became the new leader on lap-11. Phil Recchio, the veteran campaigner from New Jersey, was a man on a mission as he took over second on lap-15 began to track down Irwin. On lap-17 Recchio completed the pass of Irwin and lead the remaining laps to win his fifth feature event of the season. Coming down for the checkered flag, Danny Cross got a great run off of turn four to pull even and move ahead of Irwin. Irwin moved up the track and made hard contact with Cross, sending the 16 year old Rookie driver against the boiler plate and the youngster was up on two wheels as he crossed the finish line in second place. Irwin was disqualified for his hand in the scary incident. Hawley Smith was third and Jeff Richardson and Steve Eubanks rounded out the top five.

In the regular Rhinebeck Ford Modified event, the "Wild Child" Andy Bachetti took advantage of a rare up front start and drove away from the field, dazzling the crowd with his ability to work the Accord racing cushion to perfection. Bachetti scored his fourth win of the season at the Ulster County speedplant. As exciting as Bachetti was, the racing action midpack was worth the price of the admission ticket. "Jumpin" John McGill, Jackie Brown Jr, Rick Mill, Jerry Higbie, Jamie Yannone, Rich Ricci Jr, Mike Ricci and Robie Green were all thrown into the mix as they drove lap after lap to try to grab some kind of advantage. McGill was the first to beak free, and gave his best performace of the season with a solid runnerup finish. Jackie Brown Jr had the Tri-State Hardwoods sponsored car cooking as well with a nice third place run. Robbie Green finished fourth in a great night of consistency for the Wallkill, New York Veteran campaigner. Defending track champion, Mike Ricci, finished fifth in a great comeback from his first feature dilemma.

In the Bryant's Towing Pure Stock feature, Mike Dubois followed early leader Gary Ronk for the first four laps and then found himself facing traffic on the inside of turn four. Dubois inherited the lead on the restart and was never in winning his first feature vent of the 2007 racing season. Joe Judge, the current points leader, enjoyed a great run to the front as he wound up in second place from his 9th starting position. Bill Bulson finished third with Kyle Wright and Don Coon completing the top five.

MUDPLUGS:

More new faces made their way to the Accord facility with Friday's racing. "The Fastest Schoolteacher in the East" Bill Papula made his first start in his family owned machine. The sharp-looking racer suffered from first night mechanical malfunctions in his maiden debut with the car.

The Sportsman ranks brought Danny Hedges in to try his hand at Accord. Hedges was a non qualifier in his first night of action. The Pure Stock ranks brought 71 year old Bert Long back to the speedway. Long, who competed at the track earlier in the year with the four cylinder division, finished 15th in his initial outing in the car.

The Amsoil Pro Stock ranks were bolstered by the addition of Edgar Hedges, Eric Marin, Chris Green and late arrival Paul Hubbard. After finishing third in the Pro Stock featre event, Marin was disqualified after not meeting post race inspection. Hedges was credited with a top 10 finish and Green with a 15th and Hubbard with a 17th at the race's end.

A special thank you from the track management goes out to the Mid Hudson Concrete group for being the race sponsor. Four bikes, a Mongoose Scooter, and other prizes were raffled off to the children. A $482.00 50/50
prize was offered along with a beautiful floral arrangement courtesy of Mountain Laurel Floral. Driver Joe Giachinta with a top five run in the Sportsman, and McGill being a runnerup in the Modified division, made the night espcially rewarding to the Mid Hudson group. John McGill handed out pics of his signature numbered 62 Modified and promised to bring more this coming week to give away.

Gas Cards and WWE Tickets were offered during the evening's events. The Gas Cards were given by Accord Speedway and the front row WWE tickets were courtesy of Danny Cross Racing.

Announcer Andy Crane took the night off to be with new his baby boy born on Tuesday. The new family is doing well.

A special thanks to Miss Accord Speedway, Loralyn Brinster for her assistance in handing out the abundance of prizes given out during the evening's races.

The Pre-Race Show featured a couple of one on one interviews by Announcer Steve Pados with driving talents Robbie Green and Mel Shrufer.

Make sure you make plans for the Accord Awards Banquet taking place on November 10th at the Hudson Valley Resort.

The track was once again in top form as the drivers found bite from the top to the bottom of the raceway.

News From Bobby Varin

Sharon Springs, NY - Bobby Varin Scores Pair of Seconds in Fonda Features; Danny Varin Wins Sportsman Feature Event
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

Bobby Varin drove the Nancy and Jake Spraker owned Bicknell/JPM Big Block racer to a pair of solid second place finishes on Saturday night at the Fonda Fairgrounds. While Varin gained some ground with his great finishes, it wasn't enough to overtake current points leader Matt DeLorenzo, who claimed his first overall Fonda points crown. DeLorenzo had won 358 points title back in 2004 and claimed it once again in 2006. Varin, a three Fonda Champion, won his first title back in 2000, and then came back to secure consecutive titles in 2005 and 2006.

DeLorenzo becomes the new point king based on the strength of his eight feature event wins, and his 978 accumulated points. Varin scored five wins, including two big payoff events that netted him almost $12,000.00 in the past month, finished with 952 points. Ronnie Johnson was third in the points chase with 880 points and Dave Camara with 812, and Jack Johnson with 725 rounded out the top five in the season long points battle.

In the first feature, Dave Camara won his first feature of the 2007 season. Varin took over second place with one lap remaining and couldn't track down Camara who enjoyed a big lead on the field. Ronnie Johnson, Jim Davis, and Ray Zemken rounded out the top five. DeLorenzo finished seventh in the first eature event, giving Varin hope he could cut down the deficit in the final feature event.

In the nitecap, DeLorenzo moved out to an early lead. Varin raced through traffic and took over the runner-up slot on lap-19 and followed DeLorenzo to the finish line. Tony Pepicelli, Dave Camara, and Craig Hanson rounded out the top five.

In Sportsman action, Danny Varin overtook leader Derrick McGrew on lap 14 and won his first career sportsman event at the famed Fonda track. McGrew was second with Mark Kislowski, John McAuliffe and Mark Mortensen rounding out the top five. The 16-year old driving star has scored wins over at Utica Rome in both 2006 and 3007.

In the second feature it was David Towns scoring his tenth win of the season and winning the points championship along with it. Robert Perry finished second with Jeremy Wilder, John Scarborough and Danny Varin completing the top five. Town won the title with 1001 points. John McAuliffe finished second with 920 tallies, and Derrick McGrew with 864, Danny Varin with 846, and Robert Perry with 814 completed the top five.

Bobby Varin also steered the Magsrus 93 car to a sxth place finish in the Fulton Mini Series qualifying event on Tuesday night, August 21st.

Champions flock to NELMA’s 2007 Late Model Challenge

Once again, NELMA’s early entry list for their third annual Late Model Challenge at Mountain Speedway, is shaping up to be a who’s who of Late Model racing. With nearly two months until the annual event, there currently are seven former champions entered in the field and more signing up by the day. In addition to a 100-lap Late Model all-star event, the day will feature a 75-lap Street Stock Showdown and a Pro Truck Challenge, featuring competitors from throughout the Northeast.

NELMA, along with Mountain Speedway, will be producing their third annual Late Model Challenge. In 2005, Todd Hoddick invaded from Western New York to take down the win. In 2006, two wily veterans, Larry Fisher and Tommy Spencer, Jr. tangled with 2 laps to go, paving the way for Riverhead Raceway regular, Jarrod Hayes of Long Island, NY to take his first win outside of New York. Now in 2007, who will invade Mountain Speedway on October 20th and challenge for the win? Or will it be a native Pennsylvanian finally taking the checkers?

In addition to the 100-lap Late Model capstone event, Mountain Speedway will feature a 75-lap Street Stock Showdown, and a Pro Truck Challenge. The Street Stock Showdown will feature Street Stocks from throughout the Northeast, battling for $1,000 to win. The Pro Trucks will consist of pick-ups featured at tracks such as Lake Erie Speedway, Riverhead Raceway, Wall Township Speedway and series such as the All Star Trucks and the Pro Truck Tour.

Urban Force Racing News

Beloit, WI - "Rocket Man" Lensing Drives to Another Top Five Finish at Madison with ABC Supply/UFR Race Team
by Steve Pados, Urban Force Media

Dan Lensing slipped behind the belts of the ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing Team late model entry on Friday night at the Madison International Speedway and drove the car to another impressive performance. The "Rocket Man" brought the car across the checkered flag in fifth place in the hotly contested 50-lap feature event for the Madison Late Model Division. The "Rocketman" set the stage for the Team's good fortune early on with a strong heat race win, and the 23 year old driver who calls Poplar Grove, Illinois his hometown, was again flawless as he worked the car into contention early on and remained in the top five throughout the duration of the fast-paced feature event.

Jason Tyler led the first two laps before giving way to former track champ Scott Ollerman. Ollerman quickly distanced himself from the field and set his car on cruise control. By the 14th-lap, current point leader Bobby Wilberg had closed the distance and worked his way alongside of Ollerman as the two combatants fought for the lead. Ollerman slid up the banking and Wilberg and now the contending Jeremy Miller both slipped by. Miller, continuing his drive to the lead got inside of Wilberg and became the new leader of the event. By lap-20 Miller had motored away and Wilberg and Ollerman were again duking it out for the runner-up slot.

On lap-30 Wilberg and Ollerman got together and both were sent to the rear of the bus. The change of events put the hard driving Nathan Haseleu into the runner-up spot with Tyler sitting in third. Even though Haseleu mounted a strong challenge for the lead, Miller was up to the task at hand and drove on to victory. Haseleu was the runner-up with Andrew Morrissey finishing third, Tom Gille hustled his way in for fourth and Lensing drove a solid and steady race in completing the top five.

The 23-year old "Rocketman" Lensing was again pleased with the outing and the performance of his team at Madison. Incatching up with the talented driver, Lensing remarked, "This ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing Team car was solid again tonight. I felt we might have something for the feature event, but we will take the fifth place finish and build on that. I cannot reiterate enough how happy I am to have joined forces with this great new young race team."

Urban Force Team Manager/Crew Chief Pete Raskovic continues to enjoy the great runs the "Rocketman" is having at the Madison track. As they rolled the car back into the trailer at the end of the races, Raskovic commmented, "Dan Lensing has made a believer out of all of us. Not only is he great to work with, he can drive a car and come back in and tell you exactly what the car will need to go faster or handle better. For this first year team, Dan is the go to guy we needed to have on board. The students like him and respect him and the entire chemistry of the team has jelled since he came over to us."

The ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing team will return to action this coming Friday night, August 24th, at the Madison International Speedway. Dan Lensing will once again slip behind the belts as he seeks to put the ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing entry into victory lane at the Track of Champions.

Urban Force Team Manager/Crew Chief Pete Raskovic, Chassisman Steve Bruno, Crewmen, Gregg Bowles, Robert Lee, and the Student team members, Raymond Fallin, Keenan Davidson, Cesar Roman, Tequad Tillman, Craig Burns, Angel Wicks, Jonathan Brown, Zack Hill, Giorgio Beard, Andrew Kolden, and Kyle Hopper invite all of the racing fans and media to stop by after the races and have a chat with the team and talk to their driver, the "Rocketman" Dan Lensing, an accomplished young, talented driver coming back to race at Madison.

News From Brea Lopez Motorsports
Vader, Wa - Brea Lopez Fourth in Feature Run at Wenatchee
by Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

Eighteen year old Midget driving star Brea Lopez drove her Brea Lopez Motorsports/Dan Press/Beast/
Esslinger Midget to a solid fourth place finish on Saturday at the Wenatchee Super Oval. Lopez, who came into the race needing to make up some huge ground on current series points leader Evan Margeson, fell further behind as Margeson raced to his seventh victory in nine series races this year. With just two races remaining on the 2007 Washington Midget Racing Association (WMRA) schedule, it appears as though Margeson will have a lock on the crown.

Margeson worked his way slowly to the front from his ninth starting position and took over the lead from Ken Ferris on lap-15. Margeson pulled away from the pack once in the lead and was never challenegd along the way in the 35-lap main event. Ferris held on for second place while Snake Livernash, the 2006 WMRA Rookie of the Year, had a strong effort for third place, although Lopez put a ton of pressure on him for the podium finish. Lopez was fourth and Brad Curtis rounded out the top five finishing order.

Dallas Melby was quick qualifier with a time of 12.361 seconds. After that a group of cars all timed within a few ticks of each other. Margeson led the parade with a 12.72 followed by Chris Peterson with a time of 12.723. Tony Seidleman then stopped the clockes with a 12.733 followed by Curtis with a 12.736 and then Lopez with a 12.756 clocking.

Heat winners were Margeson and Livernash and the Dashes were won by Livernash and Seidelman. Lopez was third in her heat and fourth in her dash event

In speaking with Lopez after the race she said, "The race was good, but I felt I should have done better. I knew I was faster than "Snake," but couldn't get the run I needed off the corners to hunt him down for a clean pass. We are still fighting a push on the race car and it hurt us in moving further up at the finish. With two races remaining, I am still hoping we can find some ladyluck to help us along and possibly get a win in the series."

The next outing for the Brea Lopez Motorsports Team will be Saturday, September 1st, when the team visits Ephrata Raceway Park for another scheduled WMRA event. The first schedule event of the season was rained out so this will be the only appearance of the season at Ephrata for the series. The WMRA season will end when the series comes back to South Sound Speedway for the series finale on September 15th.

Brea Lopez would like to thank all of her sponsors and supporters for their efforts in helping the team out this year. Steve Forler Trucking, Redline Oil, Ridgecrest Homes, Hooker Harness, Bell Helmets, Finish Line Racing Equipment, Gary Magnuson Trucking, Olympic Trailers, Pro Shocks, LHP Motorsports, Steve Lewis, Keizer Wheels, Loma Hair Products, DPI, Sierra Racing Products, Winlock Realty, Ringers Gloves and Twin Cities Linex have all played a major role in the success of the team this year.

NEETS Junk-a-Thon To Feature “Ladies Race”

Lehighton, Pa. -- The classic NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series will be back in action with the Labor Day “Junk-a-Thon” on Monday, September 3rd at Mahoning Speedway in Lehighton, Pa. The fifth points race of the season will feature three divisions and spectators will witness a total of 270 green flag laps of enduro action.

All drivers in the Unique Golf four cyl. division will be chasing Don Rogers and Brian Kunkle. Both drivers are tied for the points lead with Neil Kunkle only four points out of the top spot. The drivers will battle it out with a 100-lap event.

Only ten points separate Phil Lomanco from Richard Petey in the 6/8 cyl. division. Sixteen markers behind sits Tim Pauch, a former veteran Flemington Speedway enduro racer. As well, these “big car” drivers will trade paint for 100 circuits.

The Custom Classic TRUX are also on the card for a 50-lap show. Richard Petey leads Erin Bartley by sixty points in the championship standings, but Jeff Gregor is only six points out of second.

After moving to the Lehighton ¼ mile speedway, NEETS general manager, Joe Cutri expected a decline in racers, “We figured it would be tough at first, but car counts are picking up”, he said. “Hopefully this race will gain more momentum as we head into the next few events and the ’08 season”.

A special “ladies race” will drop the curtain on the afternoon. The event is open to all females who wish to participate and there is no registration fee. The winner will receive a trophy and bragging rights for the upcoming NEETS Fem-Duro in September. All female drivers will be required to purchase the $25 pit pass for the day.

All the action kicks off Monday, September 3rd at 2:00 PM. All NEETS series races are held rain or shine, so don’t be fooled by Mother Nature.

Grandstand admission is just $8. Pit gates open at 10:30 AM, and registrations open at 11:00 AM.

For all information on the NEETS Holiday Stock Car Series, visit the series website at www.neetsracing.com,  or call series manager, Joe Cutri, at 267-767-4923.

News From Brad Grim Racing

New Tripoli, PA - Broken Distributor Sends Brad Grim Pitside Early at Five Mile Point
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

Defending Sportsman Champion Brad Grim and the Brad Grim Racing Team suffered a major setback last week as Grim was forced pitside early on during the running of the Sportsman feature event at the Five Mile Point Speedway on Saturday night. A broken distributor was the detected culprit that relegated Grim to a nineteenth place finish in the final rundown of the 20-lap race, eventually won by Joey Colsten.

While the Brad Grim Racing Team still felt last week they had a solid shot at defending the Championship they won a year ago, the unfortunate set of circumstances has basically left the Pennsylvania based team on the outside looking in at their quest for the 2007 crown. With just three points races remaining, it would take much of the same set of circumstances to occur to Grim's competitors to vault Grim back into the title picture.

For Grim, the disappointing finish comes after some great runs of late had allowed the Coplay, Pennsylvania resident to keep pace with the point leaders in the division. Grim had been abe to remain a close third in points despite missing a show that cost him 25 show-up points when the race was cancelled and ran the following night, a night Grim couldn't return to the racetrack because of work. Grim lost ground at another race when his car was detained in the pits and had to start the race from the rear.

With the points picture fading, Grim will be able to concentrate on trying to win the remaining three races of the 2007 campaign at the speedway. Grim will buckle himself in behind the belts of the team's primary, signature numbered 611 TR Kovacs/GTS Gas Welding Supplies/MRH Electrical Solutions sponsored Dirt Wheels chassied/Davey George powered mount in hopes of doing so.

In catching up with the soft-spoken Grim, he remarked, "This has been the craziest season I have ever spent in racing. We worked our asses off over the winter months to prepare two cars for the 2007 season, and felt we stood a solid chance of defending the title. We went through the month of June facing one obstacle after another with some trackside incidents that really slowed us down. We wounded both cars on successive nights and had to burn alot of midnight oil to keep racing. Without our dedicated crew pitching in to keep repairing the cars, more than likely we would have had to sit out a couple of shows when we were crashed. My hat goes off to the crew and my Dad for keeping us racing and to Ed Tauschman for all of his support and help in helping us get a handle on the race car."

Brad Grim Racing would like to thank all of their sponsors for the tremendous amount of support they have given the team in preparing for another run at the track title this year. The list of sponsors is headed up by TR Kovacs Hauling, GTS Gas Welding Supplies, MRH Electrical Solutions, Roy's SK Tools, Queen City Tires, Uncle Nick's Candy, Wild Bill's Beef , GA Motorsports Media, and Jim Young Race Photos. A special thanks goes out to the engine wizardry of Davey George for prepping some strong motors for the run at the title.

News From Barry White Racing

Mertztown, PA - Barry White Captures First 2007 Win at Five Mile Point
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

Barry White raced to his first feature event win in 2007 last Saturday night at the Five Mile Point Speedway. The Berks County campaigner, known to his loyal legion of fans as the "Mighty Man From Mertztown," was up to the task as he bolted from his outside the front row starting position to grab the early lead in the 30-lap grind. Even though a few cautions tightened the field up at various times during the running of the event, White was able to drive away from the field when the green appeared.

A lap-23 caution again closed up the ranks and at this time the "Cresco Cruiser" Eric Palmer had methodically moved his way into contention as sat in third place behind the veteran wheel-twister Tom McGurrin. McGurrin had been running in the top two or three throughout the race. When the green flag flew on the restart, White motored away to grab close to a straightaway lead on the battling duo of Palmer and McGurrin. Plamer cleared McGurrin on lap-26 and as the laps dwindled down set his sights on the leading White.

Finding bite on the extreme inside of the raceway, Palmer began bottom feeding off of the inside lane and quickly closed the distance between White and himself. As the pair drove off of turn four on the final lap, White remained on the high side and Palmer dug down low. White got a great run off of the corner and would cross the finish line just inches ahead of Palmer. Five Mile Point track railbirds claimed the race to be the closet they had seen in years.

For the veteran White, the exciting win rejuvenated his racing endeavors. Earlier in the year he was struggling with finding the handle on the track with it's ever changing conditions, a situation that had many competitors stratching their heads as well. With some technical help from Speed Shop wizard, Ed Tauschman, the Barry White Racing Team has found a set-up that seems to be working out quite well for them. White also feels the car they purchased a short time ago has played a part in boosting the team's spirits and racing efforts.

The new car out of the Barry White racing stables is a 2006 Teo Design Bow-Flex Chassis. The car was purchased from Grandview campaigner Tracy Readinger, who is now concentrating on racing Midgets with the ARDC. The new machine carries the Barry White signature number 131, and carries the support of longtime sponsor Deka Batteries. A Curt Neiman 358 cubic inch 9 to 1 powerplant supplies the power to the race car and Alcohol is the fuel of choice for the Berks County based race team.

Barry White was a guest on the very popular CARQUEST Gasoline Alley TV/Internet Show on Monday night to talk about the great win and the fortunes and misfortunes of racing. White felt winning the event with the great quality field of racers on hand, was an honor for his racing and thanked Promoter Andy Harpell for a good track to race on.

Barry White Racing has always been one of the more popular race teams on the Eastern racing circuit. Friendly, courteous, helpful, and Mom's good cooking to help feed the team and friends, truly highlight their love for racing, as they make the three hour one way trek each week to race at the Five Mile Point Speedway. With their friendly spirit, it is easy to understand the popularity of the "Mighty Man from Mertztown" Barry White.

Earl Pearson Jr. Wins Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Event in Illinois, Finishes 6th at Brownstown Indiana

ARCHDALE, NC (August 20, 2007)- Earl Pearson Jr. the two time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion picked up his fifth win in 2007 on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series winning the sanctioned event Friday August 17th at Kankakee Motor Speedway in Kankakee IL. Earl driving the Bobby Labonte Racing Mastersbilt Chassis powered by a Larry Wallace Engine started 13th in the 50-lap $10,000 to win feature event. Earl would quickly move to the front and into the top three by lap 20. Earl would use the bottom line around the ¼ mile bull ring to take the lead on lap 35 and lead the final 15 laps while holding off Scott James and Mike Marlar to earn the victory.

"That was a great race at Kankakee. I have to give my crew credit for giving me a great car and making the right choice on tires to get us to the front. We had a really good car all night and should have been starting up front but we broke a rotor leading the heat race which caused me to finish 4th. Hopefully we can keep our luck going and continue to add points to our lead for the championship", stated Earl.

The Bobby Labonte Racing Team also competed in the "Jackson 100" at Brownstown Speedway in Indiana over the weekend. Earl would win his heat race to earn a fifth place starting position for the 100-lap $15,000 to win sanctioned event. Earl would maintain his position but the track took rubber early in the event which made the track extremely hard to pass on. Earl would finish 6th in the final run down and padded his points lead to 155 points over Scott James with 7 races left on the 2007 schedule.

Earl and the team will compete in the "Scorcher 100" on Wednesday and Thursday August 22-23rd for a 100-lap $20,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned event. From there Earl will travel to Bluegrass Speedway in Kentucky for a 50-lap $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event on Saturday August 25th. For more information about these events visit their official websites at www.volunteerspeedway.com and www.bluegrass-speedway.com.

Earl and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team would like to thank all their sponsors for their support in 2007. August 20, 2007

Well I think we had one of our best races of the season last night. I truly thought with Mike Johnson starting 12th, we were about to see a new winner at Bakersfield Speedway, and with Ron Bartels marching from 9th to the lead by lap 12, I figured it would be him. But even with a 6th row starting spot Mike Johnson put on a show and took another Western Allstars win. Ron Meyer had one heck of an up and down night. First he was passed at the checkered for the last transfer spot in the B-Main. Then he won the Non-Qualifier and elected to give up the $600 check and start 21st in the A-Main. On a very racy track, he advanced 15 spots to finish 6th at the end. After last night, no one can deny the fact that Bakersfield Speedway is an awesome track for Super Dirt Late Models. A couple of side notes is that Chet Buckley finally finished a Western Allstars Main event with a very strong 2nd place and Chris Shannon who has drawn 7,8,8,8 for the last 4 trophy dashes, let his son DJ draw for him and DJ drew the #1

As usual the Bakersfield Speedway staff and Western Allstars officials did a great job of running the show. Things were smooth all night long and I believe we concluded the A-Main just after 10pm. By looking at how much guys advanced during the main, it is obvious that it was an AWESOME race track.

I would like to say that I feel very fortunate to have some of the greatest racers supporting the Western Allstars and I am not just talking about racing.
