Ft.Wayne Ends Smith's 2007 Season Like He Started It

For Kunkletown',PA's Ryan Smith, his 2007 Slingshot season started with the Battle on the Boardwalk win and closed with the Rumble Double. The Ft. Wayne Rumble was highly successful as promoter Tony Barhorst took a quick liking to the competitive spirit and the capability of the Slingshots to pass on the indoor circuit. The 19 teams that entered all showed a great desire to help each other in time of need. The dual heat format proved to be a deciding factor on starting positions as even the most veteran of drivers had the same track experience as the younger drivers. Friday night Dave McCullough put the County Roofers 7X at the front of the field and had his black racer on rails on the lowside. Anthony Perrego and Steve Hicks both suffered misfortune by the end of lap 1.The 20 lap main actually went through with only 3 stops.4th starting Ryan Smith in the S&S 55 ran the outside of McCullough for 3 laps until using an outside-in move heading off of turn 2 to take the lead. Shannon Smith was closely watching the action from her 3rd slot as the midpack racing between Kyle Rohner, Kelly Falls, Joel Smith and Billy V,Jr.w as at a fever pitch. Billy V, Jr. got the lowside working in the 23B and after falling back a few spots rebounded to get back into the mix. Paul Lotier, Jr, John Bellinger in the 1B,Jake Smith, Billy VanInwegen, Sr. and Kaitie McCardle were all jockeying for the 8th through 10th spots.Lap after lap was quickly passing as Ryan Smith was not going to be denied. Shannon ended up 2nd with Billy V,Jr. rounding out the top 3.McCullough got out of the groove heading into turn 3 which caused the 7X to bobble putting him back to 4th.Kyle Rohner ran the last 18 laps with a left front flat to get 5th place money.

Saturday's qualifying had some surprises as Lebanon, PA's Paul Lotier, Jr. put the 64 X at the head of the field with the Len & Jo's 23B of Billy VanInwegen, Jr .leading the outside row. With the green flag falling Lotier made it known he was out to improve on his 9th place Friday finish and he set sail around the tacky oval.Lapped cars played a quick role in the feature. With only 2 cautions being needed, Lotier was getting hounded by Billy V and Ryan Smith. Paul got boxed in as Smith followed the quicker of the 2 lapped car lines and headed past the starter's stand in front.A yellow for a stopped Kaitie McCardle gave Ryan the task of leading the field to the restart green. Ryan's was now seeing VanInwegen on the inside and outside of him as Billy was trying to find the quickest way to overtake Ryan. Lotier was hoping for the 2 to mix it up a little and make a bold overtaking pass. This never materialized and now the 64X had to worry about NC's John Bellinger in the newly built 1B who was quickly becoming the fastest car on the speedway. Another fierce 4 car battle was drawing lots of attention as Kelly Falls in the S&S 5S,Kyle Rohner in the 00,Reading,PA's Brad Arnold and Shannon Smith now were all within 10 feet of each other all wanting 5th.9 second laps were quickly making any large runs to the front impossible and Kurt Bettler was working into the mix only to have the laps run out for him as was Joel Smith who stormed back into the top 10 after losing 9 spots from his 6th place starting spot in the opening 3 laps.

The checker was being waved with Ryan Smith getting the second 500 payout of the weekend for his Slingshot win with Billy V,Jr. getting 2nd and Paul Lotier, Jr. working the bottom groove for 3rd.

Summary Results:
Friday:1. Ryan Smith 2. Shannon Smith 3. Billy VanInwegen,Jr. 4.Dave McCullough 5.Kyle Rohner 6.Kelly Falls 7.Joel Smith 8.Billy VanInwegen,Sr. 9.Paul Loteir,Jr. 10.John Bellinger 11.Jake Smith 12.Kaitie McCardle 13.Brad Arnold 14.Dave Rapp 15.Zack O'Connell 16.Kurt Bettler 17.Steve Hicks 18.Anthony Perrego DNQ: Bodie Bellinger

Saturday: 1. Ryan Smith 2.Billy VanInwegen, Jr. 3.Paul Lotier, Jr. 4.John Bellinger 5.Kelly Falls 6.Kyle Rohner 7.Brad Arnold 8.Shannon Smith 9.Kurt Bettler 10.Joel Smith 11.Dave McCullough 12.Billy VanInwegen, Sr. 13.Dave Rapp 14.Jake Smith 15.Bodie Bellinger 16.Zack O'Connell 17.Kaitie McCardle 18.Steve Hicks DNQ: Anthony Perrego

Ft. Wayne Notes: Dave Rapp got upside down after the heat checker on Friday but had the 86 repaired and ready to run the A Main. Kaitie McCardle, Zack O'Connell, Jake Smith, Brad Arnold, Bodie  Bellinger and Anthony Perrego gave the Young Lions a good showing during the whole weekend.Perrego won the 3 day simulator tournament after winning the 25 lap main over 5 other competitors, taking home a nice trophy and a check for 300.Rumble promoter Tony Barhorst was highly impressed with the overall show by the Slingshots with many fans inquiring about the race cars. Comraderie was at an all-time high as help was always available if needed. Great wheelies by O'Connell and Bettler wowed the fans. Tire wear was non-existant with the slicks being run the whole time without showing signs of wear. Joel Smith failed to get some track time after a battery failure. John, Karen ,Bodie and Brock Bellinger made the haul from NC and were very eager to try out the indoor racing. Tony Stewart was impressed with the driving ability needed to get around the speedway. Attendance estimates at 4700 had the Slingshots in front of a captive audience Event organizer Mike Feltenberger was needed for starter duties throughout the weekend during which a 600 cc micro crashed hard into the starters stand when Mike was flagging. Rich Tobias sailed some t-shirts into an awaiting crowd. The Thurs. night practice went well with everyone getting over 25 laps of practice time.

An enjoyable time for everyone that attended. Ft. Wayne is a night-life town with it's restaurants, sports entertainment and other commodities remaining open well past the midnight hour.

We would like to thank everyone that came as a team member, fan or Slingshot supporter and the Rumble Series Promotional and Track Officials for making this an experience we will remember for a long time. Looking forward to 2008

Beloit, Wisconsin: ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing Team Deeply Saddened By Loss Of Ken Hendricks

By Steve Pados, Urban Force Media

The ABC Supply/Urban Force Racing Team remains in deep shock after hearing the news their mentor, visionary and leader Ken Hendricks had died after a  fall from a roof at a construction project at his residence in Rock County,  Wisconsin. The 66 year-old roofing company billionaire was checking on the  project when he fell through the roof and suffered massive head injuries.

Hendrick's wife found her husband after he failed to return from his  inspection. She immediately called authorities and attempted CPR. Hendricks  was rushed to the nearby Beloit Hospital and later transferred to the  Rockford Memorial Hospital in Winnebago County, Illinois for emergency  surgery. Hendricks was pronounced dead at the hospital at 4:48 a.m.

Hendricks was the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of the ABC  Supply Company, the nation's largest wholesale distributor of roofing  supplies. The company does almost three billion dollars in sales a year. The  company celebrated its 25th anniversary this year with 350 locations  nationwide and employs 5,800 employees. Hendricks and his wife Diane also  owned the Hendricks Holding Company.

In the fall of 2006 Hendricks and Beloit Memorial High School Automotive  Technology instructor, Peter Raskovic launched a new program designed at  giving students the opportunity to learn hands-on the workings of a  short-track race car in the shop and in the classroom, and applying the  knowledge at the track with supervision. Hendricks fully funded the Urban  Force Racing Team. In its first year, the team enjoyed a stellar inaugural  season of racing on Wisconsin race tracks. Hendricks was extremely proud to  be able to further progress education for the students. The model program is  considered to be one of the nation's most innovative programs to keep kids  in school.

In a statement issued from Urban Force Racing Team Manager Pete Raskovic,  Raskovic remarked, "We have lost a great man. Ken was like a father to me,  and I just cannot believe that he is gone. I could go to him at anytime and  present my thoughts to him and he would always give a fair assessment to the  question or issue at hand. He could see a situation in a different way than most people could...he was a visionary. He was a great human being, a great  friend and mentor. His focus was making sure the students had everything at  their disposal so they would have the chance to become successful in their  careers when they stepped out in the world to make their mark". Raskovic later added, "Just three weeks ago we moved the automotive technology  program and UFR  race team into a 4,000 square foot building that Ken  renovated specifically for our use. Ken wanted to make sure that the kids  had the very best, so he paid for the project out of his own pocket. His  loss is a tragedy for all of us, no words can describe what he meant to all  of us at Urban Force". Raskovic then added, "I know that if chief (Ken  Hendricks) were here today, he would say;  OK, now get back to work...didn't  I teach you anything? He had a great sense of humor! It is in that spirit we will carry on his  legacy.

TENTATIVE 2008 SCHEDULE RELEASED; 6 RACE PA ASHALT MOD SERIES ANNOUNCED; GO KARTS IN MOUNTAIN’S FUTURE?

Just in time for Christmas, Mountain Speedway has gifted it’s fans and racers with the tentative 2008 season schedule, which will surely be a topic of conversation over the holiday dinner. With many action packed shows already planned, and more announcements forthcoming, the level of excitement has already begun to build, for the upcoming season. Many teams are busy preparing their new rides, in anticipation of the annual Mountain Speedway Laurel Mall race car show set for Feb. 27-Mar. 2, at the popular Hazleton shopping location.

The biggest announcement is the Pennsylvania Asphalt Modified Championship series, which will replace the Big Dog triple crown for the mighty Modified division in 2008. The top performer for the 6-race series will be pocketing $1000, along with a massive trophy.

“Keeping the rich history of our facility in mind, we took a page out of the past with the PA. Asphalt Modified Championship series from the old Evergreen days.” stated co-promoter, Mike Odwazny. “We are going to get back to the roots of what made this facility great and focus on exposing the younger generation of our sport to a brand of racing that was far ahead of it’s time, and that is…pavement pounding, 600 horsepower Modifieds!”, Odwazny added.

An Evergreen Raceway reunion is also planned for Saturday, June 14, with the vintage race cars of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing club headed by Dizzy Dean. All vintage clubs are welcome that day and anyone interested can contact the speedway office or give Dizzy a call at (410)374-6765. This is sure to be an event you won’t want to miss, as it is also race #3 of the Modified mini series.

In addition to the Modifieds, the popular Late Model division is scheduled for 13 shows, and will be alternating with the ATQMRA winged three-quarter midget racers, every other week. Street Stocks and Thrillers will be busy providing their fender rubbing style of racing which is sure to please the fans, all season long. The FWDs, or “First Win Division” is already the talk of the off season, as many young racing enthusiasts have shown interest in building these popular four cylinder, front wheel drive sport compact racers for competition.

Improvements to the historic racing facility are also slated for 2008, but probably the most important is the addition of a 1/10 mile inner go-kart oval that will be utilizing part of the front straightaway, for Friday night youth Go-Kart competition. The plans are already in the works and anyone who is interested in participating or would like to get involved with Go-Kart racing at Mountain speedway is urged to contact the speedway office at (570)384-3215.

Stay tuned to the Mountain Speedway website for all the latest news and info at www.mountainspeedway.com  or by calling the speedway office. Happy Holidays!

FROSTBITE II ENDURO EVENT TO BENEFIT DISABLED VETS

The America Responds with Love organization will be working with Mountain Speedway for the "Frostbite II" enduro event on Saturday, January 5th, 2008. Mountain Speedway will be donating $1 from every admission, in an effort to raise funding for this great cause.
In conjunction with the greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, their goal is to build homes for handicapped veterans of the middle east conflict. Many of these permanently disabled young men and women have families and young children who have been directly affected by their injuries. The America Responds with Love group is currently seeking businesses who can provide items and services, along with donations to fund construction of homes, one of which is located in the Hickory Hills development, near White Haven, PA, not far from Mountain Speedway.

If you would like to find out more about the America Responds with Love organization, or to donate, please visit their website at www.respondwithlove.org  or call (610)731-HOPE.

Enduro racing is essentially a low cost, highly entertaining and fun, junk car race in which survival is the key to completing each 100 lap event. Info on all Mountain Speedway events can be obtained by logging on to the track website at www.mountainspeedway.com,  or by calling the speedway office at (570)384-3215.
Please join us for the first race of the 2008 season, and give back something to the handicapped/disabled veterans who paid a price for protecting our freedom.

SSP’s Night of Honor Set for Saturday, January 26 in Downtown York Bringing Official Close to the 2007 Racing Season; 2007 Yearbooks On SALE Now

Newberrytown, PA (December 14, 2007) – The Night of Honor and Awards Gala banquet for the Susquehanna Speedway Park will be held on Saturday, January 26 at the Valencia Ballroom in downtown York, Pennsylvania. More than 500 invited guests, drivers and teams from across the United States are expected to attend, making this event one of the area’s largest post-season awards ceremony.
"The Valencia Ballroom is a very historic and prestigious place to hold our Night of Honor for our drivers. We are very excited about the banquet and our upcoming 2008 racing season,” said Todd Fisher, owner/promoter of the Susquehanna Speedway Park.

"This will be a fun place for our teams and their families to gather and celebrate their accomplishments. It's a unique facility that's close to home for many competitors, and it's always enjoyable to visit during that time of the year in conjunction with the York Dirt Trackin’ show at the York Fairgrounds," he continued.
The banquet is where the SSP's grassroots racers take center stage. The event honors the 11 champions from the various classes that support SSP’s Stock Car Saturday Night Program. Awards will be given out to the top drivers in the season long track point series for the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, ARDC Midgets, Legends Cars, Four Cylinder Stock Cars, Women on Wheels Stock Cars, Classic Cars, Mini Vans and School Buses.

There will be many surprises throughout the evening for everyone. In continuing with the family atmosphere approach of operating races, an unprecedented announcement was made that there will be a “Kid’s Banquet” for children ages 4-12 at the same time in the downstairs banquet room. There will be “fun” food served and plenty of games and activities to keep the young ones occupied in a supervised setting. After dinner, all children will be permitted to join their families upstairs during the awards presentations. This one-of-a-kind experience should prove to be successful for the entire family.
The Valencia Ballroom is an art deco-style ballroom from the early 1900’s. It includes a Mezzanine overlooking the ballroom, a spring loaded dance floor and built in stage, making it York’s premiere ballroom. NEWS FROM JERRY HIGBIE RACING

GOSHEN, NY-- JERRY HIGBIE SET TO MAKE FIRST CHILI BOWL APPEARANCE
By Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

After spectating at the Chili Bowl for the past two years, Northeastern Modified Star Jerry Higbie will make his initial driving debut at the 22nd Annual running of the Dodge Chili Bowl Nationals set for January 9th through the 12th at the Tulsa Expo Center. Higbie, who is coming off a banner year in racing his Modifieds throughout the Northeast, will strap himself into one of the CTR owned Midgets for the prestigious event that is dubbed the "Super Bowl for Midgets".

Higbie, who is without question one of the more popular racing figures in the Northeast, is looking forward to what he calls "a dream come true" as he embarks on a venture that will find him sitting in a Midget race car for the first time in his impressive racing career. Having never sat in one of the powerful creations, Higbie is well aware of the fact he will be going up against the very best in the business including last year's winner and former NEXTEL Champion Tony Stewart, current 2-time National Midget Champion Jerry Coons Jr, and a host of quality open wheelers with names such as Kasey Kahne, Danny Lasosoki, Jon Stanbrough, JJ Yeley, Brad Loyet, Gary Wright, Joey Saldana, National Sprint Car Champion Levi Jones, Dustin Morgan, Brady Bacon, and former winners Cory Kruseman, Sammy Swindell, and Tracy Hines. Last year, a record 269 entries signed in to do battle and that record is expected to fall by the wayside for this year's event.

The enterprising deal came together for Higbie as he has kept close personal ties with former Wallkill, New York resident Corey Tucker, who has since moved to the South where he works for Penske Racing as the Car Chief for NEXTEL Cup driver Kurt Busch. Tucker, whose Mom still resides in Wallkill, worked on the Modifieds in the past at the Orange County Fair Speedway for Team 74, (Joe Knoth and Steve Hastings) and Tucker also has spent some time working with 10 time Accord Speedway Champion Rich Ricci Jr. Tucker takes advantage of his rare off weeks by returning home to visit and take in some of the fine racing found at the Accord and Orange County Fair Speedways.

Higbie will be part of the three-car CTR Team that will find find him teaming up with a pair of World of Outlaw stars "The Hurricane" Randy Hannagan, and Jason Meyers. Originally, NEXTEL Cup driver Ryan Newman has been assigned to one car, but due to a conflict in his schedule will not be able to participate, opening the door for the talented Meyers, who finished fifth last year in the World of Outlaw standings and recorded five wins during the season in his Elite Landscaping entry. assigned to the third entry. Sponsorship for the new team includes K&N Filters, Brown & Miller, Penske Shocks, and Mopar Engines. The car assigned to Higbie will have Fontana power under the bonnet. Bullet Chassis by Keith Kunz are utilized for all three entries. Higbie normally carries the family signature 97 on his own entries, but for the Chili Bowl the CTR team has been assigned 39 for the Meyers entry, 39J for Higbie and 39R for the Hannagan entry.

In a conversation with Higbie, the talented Modified ace commented, "This deal certainly is a dream come true for me. In spectating at the event for the past two years, I thought to myself how neat it would be to come here and race against the best in the business. With Corey Tucker's help my dream is coming to fruition. I cannot thank him enough for giving me the opportunity to race against the cream of the crop in the open wheel ranks. While really not knowing what to expect, all I can say is I will do my best and hope to adapt to the race car quickly and be able to race to the best of my ability. As one driver told me in a recent conversation, it is not the speed so much as it is for the luck. I hope I can corral all of it together for a weekend".

In preparation for the upcoming event, Higbie has been keeping in touch with several topflight Midget drivers who have offered their advice and given some valuable pointers to the first time combatant. Having recently moved into his new "HigFab" racing shop, located on the outskirts of Goshen, New York, Higbie has found himself immersed in the business at hand as his new shop is filled with racers in all forms of build or rebuild for the 2008 racing season. The new enterprise has allowed Higbie to consolidate his operations in order to better supply and service his growing customer base.

Anyone wishing to play a part and lend some sponsorship support to the CTR Team for the Chili Bowl and other possible select races can contact Corey Tucker at: 704 467 0956. Jerry Higbie can be reached at his shop at: 845 294 0898.

 SpeedSTR Events Get Fans Involved

Rich Tobias has created the open-wheel SpeedSTR to combat the rising costs of racing and to keep all competitors on an even playing field. The $18,000 ready to race MOPAR racer has seen orders making it's way to the production areas with a 2008 racing schedule hitting the road with some interesting extras putting the fans first and foremost.

The SpeedSTR is a 1050 lb. midget-type racer with a small top wing and no front wing that is capable of racing on dirt and asphalt surfaces with minimal changes needed. MOPAR Power will be the exclusive powerplant as the Dodge Neon engine will have modifications making it a real treat when you mash the gas pedal and get this 72" wheelbase racer around your local speedway.
After extensive testing many drivers have inquired about taking their test time one step farther and have ordered SpeedSTR's in hopes of becoming the 1st Champion of this touring series.

Among some of the drivers that will be seen at the speedways are former ARDC and modified chauffeur Doug Rose, modified star Andy Burkhart, former Syracuse winner Rich Tobias, limited sprint standout Timmy Long, Steve "The Traveler" Hicks, New York racer John Gallup and multi-talented Paul Kline. When there are no scheduling conflicts look for NASCAR owner Ray Evernham and former WoO sprint driver Erin Crocker to do some wheeling and dealing as they were much impressed with their recent testing in North Carolina and have made it known SpeedSTR purchases are in the near future.2007 Slingshot by Tobias National Champion Billy "The Blast" VanInwegen, Jr. will be a part of the Evernham Developmental Program that will find the 15 year old getting added seat time in these radical racers. Slingshot hotshoe Kevin Albert will be taking his talents to the small block modified wars in 2008 but has expressed a desire to become a SpeedSTR challenger when he is not touring the local speedplants. The West Coast drivers have also shown a desire to become a part of this venture as DES Motorsports based in California will take delivery of a SpeedSTR and fit their schedule in to attend as many races as possible.

The fans will get a chance to select a hero and villain as Tobias will be turning SpeedSTR's over to drivers that the track or in some cases the fans will decide on who will get behind the wheel and take on the SpeedSTR regulars. Brian Weaver and Mike Gular put on a great show for the Penn Can faithful and word is that both would like a second shot at strapping into the sleekly styled speed machines.

Fans quite possibly could be seeing Brett Hearn, Jeff Strunk, Craig Von Dohren, Fred Rahmer and other racing stars battle the SpeedSTRites when the schedule hits your regular track.

Fan interaction will be a priority with in-car cameras bringing the fans a different view of the action. Meet and greet photo and autograph sessions will be commonplace as the fans need to realize that without them, racing would not exist as it does today and the SpeedSTR drivers appreciate your time spent watching them race.

Each scheduled SpeedSTR event will have VIP tickets available that will be used for after-race parties and other added items like getting your photo taken in victory lane and SpeedSTR merchandise.

Kids are not forgotten as give-aways and other items of interest will keep the younger race fans entertained and enlightened as they watch the evening's race program.

The Speedway Entertainment Trailer will become the mecca of excitement when the SpeedSTR Tour makes an appearance at your speedway.

Include the SpeedSTR Tour in some of your 2008 racing plans.

The SpeedSTR and the SpeedSTR Tour is solely created and hosted by Speedway Entertainment.

For more info contact Rich Tobias at 717-866-7450 or visit www.speedstr.biz.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS

Accord, NY - Accord Speedway and ARDC Midgets Ink July 11th For Showcase Event

By Steve Pados, Accord Media

Leaving no stone unturned, hard-working and enterprising Accord Speedway Promoter Gary Palmer has been extremely busy on all fronts as he prepares for what is expected to be his greatest season to date. Not only is Palmer widening up the racing channels at his "Gem in the Catskills", Palmer has been reviewing other exciting options for his popular Ulster County speedplant. With that in mind, Palmer has been busy in negotiations with the popular ARDC Midget Club and has booked the 69 year old traveling club to appear at his facilty on July 11th, with a 25-lap Main Event to go along with the regular full card of exciting racing activity. The event will mark the first time the club has ever raced at the Accord Speedway, and is certain to bring the open wheel fans out in big numbers to witness the powerful creations negotiate "the race to the walls facility".

The ARDC racing club has enjoyed an enduring and brilliant history, being the oldest racing club to date in the country, forming back in 1939. With legendary names carved into the club's record books such as "Bronco" Bill Schindler, Dutch Schaefer, Johnny Coy, Len Duncan, Middletown, New York great Ray Brown, and a host of supporting stars, the club has built a reputation of showcasing top notch driving talent.

The new club slogan "Where Side by Side and Three Wide is Standard" will be put to a solid test when the current breed of driving talent with the ARDC embarks on the Accord Speedway. Bolstered in recent years by adapting to "Going Wingless" and the arrival of younger stars advancing their driving careers, the current ARDC Roster is a tremendous blend of the new breed and the veterans who continue to fight off the advances of the rising new stars. Two-time consecutive driving Champion Andy Martin leads the brigade of stars who will do battle at Accord. Other names expected in for the event include veteran campaigners Frank Polimeda, Tracy Readinger, Eric Heydenreich, Steve Lenig, Lew Blair, and six-time Champion Ray Bull. Among the new breed of talent include the ARDC Rookie of the Year Ryan Smith, PJ Gargiulo, Nick Wean, Randy Monroe, Greg Robinson, Drew Heistand, and Brett Arndt. Another of the new breed expected to compete include Garden State female racer Stephanie Stevens who may have a slight advantage over her counterparts as she is a former winner at the Accord facility when she was piloting a Micro Sprint.

Due to the importance of this history making event, former open wheel racing legend Jimmy McGuire will serve as the Grand Marshall for the event. McGuire was hailed as "the" next Indianapolis star when he won the 1963 URC Championship driving for Sam Venezia. His legendary win over AJ Foyt at Williams Grove in 1963 is still still talked about by the railbirds today as one of the greatest open wheel battles of all-time. The loss of his arm in a 1964 accident at New Bremen, Ohio, put McGuire out of racing for more than a year. Undaunted, McGuire came roaring back into action, first driving TQ Midgets to much success and then launching an ARDC Career that would find McGuire winning 14-times before hanging up his helmet. His determination led him to a great career in racing and Accord Speedway is honored to have McGuire serve as the Gand Marshall for the event.

Negotiations are also underway to land a Midget ride for Modified star Jerry Higbie to join the ranks when the ARDC comes to town. Higbie, a two-time winner last year in the Modified ranks at Accord to go along with his sixth place in the final points, will be making his Midget debut at the 22nd running of the Dodge Chili Bowl Nationals held in Tulsa, Oklahoma from January 9th to the 12th. Corey Tucker and his CTR Racing Team, will be providing a racer for Higbie for the Chil Bowl and it is hoped the cars can be made available for the July 11th Accord date as well. Tucker is a former Wallkill, New York resident who is currently working for Penske Racing as the Car Chief for Kurt Busch.

The interest remains extremely high for the projected 2008 racing season at Accord. Even though the bulk of interest continues to center around the Modified Division, the other Divisions at the facility will be bolstered by new faces entering the Accord racing scene. Once such driver who will be making his debut in the Spec Sportsman division in 2008 will be the "Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner. Rohner enjoyed a stellar season in 2007 as he scored 10 wins racing in the Slingshots. His family has purchased a Bicknell car for him to begin his first season in the full size cars, while keeping the Slingshot for Midweek Madness Racing and other selected venues.

The Palmer Family would like to thank all of the sponsors, competitors, fans and staff for making the 2007 racing season at Accord so special, and look forward to the 2008 racing season that promises to be bigger and better yet. All fans and businesses are encouraged to visit the newly constructed website often for continued updates and information on the great racing activity at the "Gem in the Catskills"

The photos from the recent Accord Banquet remain onsite. To obtain pics from the event go to: http://www.kbsracingphotos.com
