CASOLA HAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE WITH ARCA IN 2007  LOOKING TO WIN IN ARCA IN 2008

HOLMDEL, NJ December 14, 2007. . . When the ARCA RE/MAX Series kicked off their season at Daytona International Speedway in 2007 Dominick Casola was still planning to run a full schedule of USAR Hooter’s Pro Cup events.

However there was a quick change of plans with Casola signing to drive for the highly respected Andy Belmont Motorsports Ford team. It was too late to run in the season opener at Daytona but the team did make it to all the other races on the schedule.
“I learned a great deal,” said the 20-year-old racer as he spoke about the 2007 season. “It was a tremendous learning experience. I got to run a wide variety of different tracks and gain a lot of skills that I did not have before. I am a much better race car driver today than I was at the beginning of the season.”

Casola, driving the A. Casola Farms sponsored Ford, was able to finish 13th in the final ARCA RE/MAX standings. If he had been able to run at Daytona he would have earned bonus points and finished in the top ten in his rookie season on the ARCA circuit.
Three tracks stood out for Casola. He was happy with his efforts at what he considers his hometown track, Pocono Raceway. In the first race of the season he gained a 14th place finish gaining his first lead lap finish of the season. In the second race of the season at Pocono he led some laps and earned an eighth place finish for his first career top ten finish. Even in his Hooter’s Cup efforts in 2006 he had not been able to gain a top ten finish.

At Gateway International, near St. Louis, he had an outstanding effort in a Belmont owned Ford that had been driven in Nextel Cup competition by Greg Biffle. He led 12 laps and finish fifth for his best effort to that point in the season.

In the next to last event of the season, that coming at the super fast Talladega Superspeedway, the Holmdel, NJ racer was able to run a magnificent race to finish a strong third after running for many laps in second position in the nationally televised event.
“Talladega was definitely our best effort. It showed we could be a strong contender for a win,” said the former Wall Township (NJ) Speedway truck racer. “Having Jeff McClure as the crew chief for that race was fantastic. I am just disappointed that we did not win one or at least get a pole during the season. Overall we did well for a lower scale budget team though.

“I don’t think that I was ready to win in the first half of the season but we definitely were racing to win in the second half.
Andy Belmont, a veteran car owner who has also driven in ARCA and NASCAR Nextel Cup competition, had high praise for his 2007 season driver and sees a bright future ahead for the young racing talent.

As is the case with many racers and race teams at this time of the year Casola is pursuing sponsorship support for his future racing efforts.

Casola is busy putting together his plans for the 2008 season and hopes to be in a position to make some announcements regarding his plans for the future very shortly.

HESSERT’S ROOKIE SEASON IN HOOTER’S CUP WASN’T WHAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN

CHERRY HILL, NJ NOVEMBER 20, 2007 . . . The entire 2007 season was pretty much a learning experience for young Tom Hessert III. His rookie season in USAR Hooter’s Cup wasn’t what it could have been according to the Cherry Hill, NJ college student.
“With a former Nextel Cup crew chief preparing our MAACO America’s Body Shop Monte Carlo I really thought that we had the makings of a great season,” said Hessert. “And it was a great season when you consider the great experience that I gained.
“The lack of experience in stock cars really took its toll. I put myself in positions to be wrecked at times but there was a lot of wrecks that happened that were out of my control.”
In July Hessert decided to devote all his efforts to stock car racing. He parked the USAC midgets and sprint cars that he had been racing from time to time.
“That was a difficult decision for me. I have always been an open cockpit racer,” the young racer commented. “Going from midgets and sprints was more of a challenge than I had anticipated. When we got to mid-season we just felt that we had to devote all our energies to the Hooter’s Cup series.
“It is a great series to learn and certainly it was great exposure for our sponsor, MAACO, with all the TV time generated on SPEED.”
Hessert admits that stock car racing is more of a contact sport. “You have to learn to pay attention to what is going on in front and protect your position. There is a lot of give and take,” said the 21-year-old. “There seems to be a lot of impatience. Some of the Hooter’s Cup events run on the bigger tracks had the racers being more careful. And the end of the season championship events had less contact.”
Hessert felt his best efforts came at Concord, NC Motorsports Park where had a 10th place finish and an eighth at South Georgia Motorsports Park. He also ran as high as second in one of the events run at Iowa Speedway and he qualified a strong seventh but a late race incident dropped him way back at the finish.
“I really loved running at Bristol Motor Speedway. What a great facility,” commented Hessert. “And Myrtle Beach was another great track. I really enjoyed being in a new series (new to him) and getting to race at so many different tracks.”
It was a disappointment for the MAACO, America’s Body Shop team to finish so poorly at USA International in the season finale after having run so well at Georgia just a couple weeks before.
The team had a good test session for the Robert H. Brooks Memorial Aaron’s 250 at USA International. Practice went well but they did not qualify well. In the race there was shifter problems which caused a pit stop and put them down a lap. Later in the race a cut tire caused a left rear tire to blowout and the car crashed out at 89 laps ending the season. It was a disappointing effort.
Hessert was still upbeat about the 2007 season overall. He got to run a few dirt track events on the ARCA RE/MAX circuit for Andy Belmont Motorsports. He ran the full schedule of USAR Hooter’s Cup events and also was active in a number of USAC Midget and USAC Sprint races. The experience gained, the knowledge learned will be a huge help to him as he continues his career.
The young racer will be heading to Daytona Beach, Florida in mid-December to be part of the ARCA RE/MAX Series practice sessions with Andy Belmont Motorsports.
His plans for 2008 are still in the formative stages with plans to be announced early in 2008.

HESSERT HAS STRONG SHOWING IN AARON’S 250 HOOTERS CUP RACE AT SOUTH GEORGIA MOTORSPORTS PARK

CECIL, GA October 21, 2007 . . . With limited practice time and a rather lack luster qualifying effort Tom Hessert was able to turn “lemons into lemonade” on Saturday night in the Dan Duncan Memorial Aaron’s 250 Hooters USAR Pro Cup race.
The Cherry Hill, NJ college student was able to charge from a 23rd starting spot in the 36 car starting field to finish eighth in the 250-lap race on the one-half-mile, semi-banked asphalt oval.
“When the leaders came in early we made a decision to stay out and maintain our track position,” said Hessert. “That was a good decision. We came in at about the midway point and had a great stop (fuel, tires and wedge adjustment) and came out 14th.
“We brought the MAACO America’s Body Shop Monte Carlo back up through the field with some great work by our spotters (one of the spotters was his dad who was a talented sports car and NASCAR racer some years back).”
A late race caution, with seven laps to go, created some havoc but Hessert was able to maintain his position and came home with one of his season best efforts, an eighth place finish, gaining 15 spots.
“The car was really good. We had a good pit strategy,” said the 21-year-old racer. “What was really great about this race was the education I received. I learned when to race and when not to race. I learned a lot more about stock car racing in this event.” Hessert has spent most of his racing career in sprints and midgets.
“I am really excited about the November 3rd season finale,” commented the Hooters Cup rookie. “The education I gained in this race has me really excited about that race. Another strong finish would be a great way to finish the season and get us set for 2008.”
The final event of the season for the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series takes place on Saturday, November 3rd at USA International Speedway, a ¾-mile high-banked asphalt oval located in Lakeland, Florida.

FINAL ARCA RE/MAX RACE OF THE SEASON TURNS INTO A “MURPHY’S LAW” TYPE OF DAY FOR CASOLA

Toledo, Ohio/Holmdel, NJ October 15, 2007 . . . “We headed to the final race of the season with high hopes,” said rookie racer Dominick Casola. “With the fantastic finish we had at Talladega Superspeedway (finishing third for a best career effort) we just felt we wanted to close out the season with a great race.” Unfortunately it was a “Murphy’s Law” type of day for the A.Casola Farms Ford Fusion team in the Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire ARCA RE/MAX Series season finale at Toldeo, Ohio Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

“We struggled in practice, had carburetor problems in qualifying (qualifying in 31st spot with 35 cars taking the green) and we just seemed to have an overheating issue that had impact on the motor power along with handling problems that hampered us throughout the race,” said the Holmdel, NJ racer. “Then I overdrove going into the first turn with about 135 laps complete and spun.
“I tried to keep going and created a lot of tire smoke doing a 360. I feel bad that Norm Benning got caught up in that and suffered some damage on his race car.”

Casola did manage to keep running and finished 197 of the scheduled 200 laps. The race was slowed dramatically with 13 cautions totaling 72 laps.

“Overall we had a very good season but it was disappointing to struggle in the final race of the season. We just tried to stay out of the way of the front runners and get the best finish possible based on the circumstances. We had hoped to have a strong run at Toledo and be able to finish in the top 12 in the final point standings,” said the former Wall Township, NJ Speedway truck racer. “We did get a 13th place finish in the points and we earned the Fast Track Award (based on qualifying and race finishes at a series of events) which really means a lot to me and all the Andy Belmont Motorsports team. Seeing that we did not get to run the season opener in Daytona Beach, Florida we did pretty well.
“The entire season was a great experience and I feel that I learned so much from Andy Belmont. It is going to be very helpful as I grow my career.”

With the season over Dominick can now be found working at A.Casola Farms where the tradition of Halloween is a continuing celebration. The Holmdel, NJ farm offers daily pumpkin pickings, hay rides, petting zoos, corn mazes and haunted hay rides. In addition there is a Motorsports exhibit. For an official list of activities and times, please check in at 732.332.1533.

Casola is also looking to pick up a ride for the prestigious Turkey Derby events that take place at the NASCAR sanctioned Wall Township, NJ Speedway on Thanksgiving weekend.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC..OCTOBER 9, 2007 . . . Heading into the Mark Brooks Memorial Bi-Lo 250 presented by Black’s Tire and Auto Service Tom Hessert was excited. He was coming off a strong showing, running with the leaders much of the race at Iowa Speedway, and he had run well at Myrtle Beach, SC Speedway before.

However the excitement turned to despair as just about nothing went right for the MAACO America’s Body Shop Chevy team in the USAR Hooter’s Pro Cup race on Saturday (October 6th).

“It was a struggle from practice on Friday right through the race itself,” said the young Cherry Hill, NJ college student. “We struggled on new tires, struggled trying to get forward bite and barely made the show (qualifying 31st in the 36 car starting field with a 20.974 second effort).

“In the race the car was tight at the start and just kept getting tighter. With 96 laps in the record book we were down a couple of laps. I can not remember the last time I was lapped like that. It was frustrating.”

The end came when Hessert and his MAACO America’s Body Shop Chevy got caught up in an accident that left him with no choice but to be part of it. The damage put him out of the race. He was credited with a 36th place finish completing 108 laps of the 261 lap race.

Next on the schedule for the young racer is the Dan Duncan Memorial Aaron’s 250 at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, GA on Saturday, October 20th at 7 p.m.

The Soy BioDiesel 225 run at Iowa Speedway can be seen on SPEED at 12 noon on October 12th.
The finale of the USAR Hooter’s Pro Cup season will take place on Saturday, November 3rd at the USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida.

CASOLA HAS CAREER BEST THIRD PLACE FINISH IN ARCA RE/MAX 250 AT TALLADEGA, SEASON FINALE COMING UP AT TOLEDO, OHIO

TALLADEGA, ALABAMA OCTOBER 6, 2007 . . .“We are thrilled, absolutely ecstatic, with our third place finish,” said Dominick Casola after getting his career best finish in the nationally televised ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday evening. “To be able to run with the leaders and hold second spot for so many laps was fantastic. It shows that we have a team that has what it takes to be a contender against the many high dollar teams that race on the ARCA circuit.”
Casola, a rookie on the highly competitive ARCA circuit that has had 15 different race winners this season, had high praise for car owner Andy Belmont and the crew. The A.Casola Farms Ford Fusion, a former Chip Ganassi owned Nextel Cup entry, sported Roush/Yates power.

“I’d never drafted with anyone before. So this weekend definitely paid dividends. We started in the middle (qualified 21st quickest), fell to the back, and I tried to work my way back up there. My car was real strong all day. I just haven’t had the experience on these restrictor plate tracks,” commented the excited Holmdel, NJ racer. “I knew I had to protect my position and maintain where I was (on the final laps). I wasn’t giving up the bottom for anything, because if I went to the outside, I’d get freight-trained. So I was just trying to hold the line and follow them to the checkered and see what happens.”

Great things happened as Casola was able to bring the A.Casola Farms Ford home behind winner Michael Annett and second place finisher, eight time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel.

Casola, making his first start in restrictor plate racing, earned the Hoosier Tire Hard Charger honors for advancing the most positions, coming from 21st to third.

That strong finish came despite running the final 15 laps with a serious tire rub that almost caused a cut tire that could have given out had the race continued any longer.

The A.Casola Farms entry gained a lot of attention and TV time as the No. 1 sported a black paint scheme with Halloween figurines that promoted the on-going Halloween activities at the Holmdel, NJ farms. The public is welcome to visit each day through Halloween.

With the third place finish Casola moved into 13th spot in the ARCA RE/MAX point standings (unofficially) and gained some ground on 12th position.

A strong effort in the season finale at Toledo, Ohio Speedway on Sunday, October 14th, could give Casola enough points to have the rookie racer finish in 12th spot in the final standings despite having not participated in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.

The Championship Weekend at Toledo Speedway will feature the Hantz Group 200, presented by Belle Tire, and will have a 2 p.m. starting time and will be seen live on SPEED.

“It is always fun to get back to short track racing,” said Casola. “You just never know what is going to happen on a track like Toledo. I just hope that I can close out the season with a strong effort, of course a win would be great but a top five is our realistic goal, and that will give us the incentive to start our plans for a great 2008 season.”

With the ARCA RE/MAX Series finishing Dominick is looking to hook up with a team owner to race in the Turkey Derby weekend at Wall Township, NJ Speedway in late November.

The team is also planning to be part of the Motorsports 2008 presented by VP Racing Fuels Race Car Show at Atlantic City’s Convention Hall January 18th through 20th.

HESSERT EXCITED ABOUT MYRTLE BEACH AFTER STRONG SHOWING IN IOWA USAR HOOTERS PRO CUP CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT

CHERRY HILL, NJ SEPTEMBER 29, 2007 . . . Tom Hessert had one of the most impressive runs of his rookie season in the SoyBio Diesel 225 at Iowa Speedway back on Saturday, September 22nd. That makes him very excited about his next race which is set for Saturday, October 6th at Myrtle Beach, SC Speedway.
The Cherry Hill, NJ racer put the MAACO America’s Body Shop Monte Carlo in the race with the seventh fastest time with more than 40 racers trying to make the starting field.
“We really ran well at Iowa. It was probably our best effort of the season,” said the 21-year-old Drexel University student. “We were on our way to a great finish and then our luck turned sour.”
Throughout the race Hessert ran with the leaders.
“We were running second and third, doing some side-by-side racing going into the final stages of the race and we just slid up. A guy in the low groove hit me in the left rear,” was how Hessert described it. “With some damage to the car it affected the aerodynamics of the MAACO America’s Body Shop Monte Carlo and we were no longer a factor.”
With less than 20 laps to go Hessert was still running on the lead lap when the fuel tank went dry. By the time he was pushed to the pits and refueled he had lost a few laps.
Hessert was credited with a 27th place finish completing 225 of 229 laps in the race.
“We did not get the finish we had thought we were headed for,” said Hessert. “However we were all excited about our strong performance and being able to run with the leaders. The car performed well. It really has us all excited about going on to the next event. We feel that we have shown we can be a contender.”
Coming off such a strong effort at Iowa, Hessert is optimistic about his chances to have a great showing in the Mark Brooks Memorial Naturally Fresh 250 presented by Black’s Tire & Auto Service Championship race on Saturday, October 6th.
This is the third event in the five race championship series that will close out the 2007 season for the USAR Hooters ProCup Series racers and takes place at the popular Myrtle Beach, SC Speedway. Racing will start at 7:30 pm.

CASOLA EXCITED ABOUT RACING AT TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY

HOLMDEL, NJ SEPTEMBER 30, 2007 . . . For the first time in his racing career rookie racer Dominick Casola will be competing at the legendary Talladega Superspeedway.
The Holmdel, New Jersey racer will be part of the nationally televised (SPEED Channel, 5 pm ET) ARCA RE/MAX 250 on the 2.66 mile, 33 degree banked oval on Friday, October 5th.
“Racing at Talladega has been on my mind all season. It goes back to when I tested here earlier in the year,” said the former Wall Township, NJ truck racer. “This place can either make or break your season. As a driver you always want to run well here. I’ve tested here but this race will be my first opportunity to compete on the track that is such an important part of the history of the sport.”
Casola had his A.Casola Farms Ford Fusion, prepared by Andy Belmont Racing, at Talladega on September 24th and 25th for two days of testing.
“We have been a threat a lot lately,” said Casola who is looking to crack victory lane in an ARCA race for the first time. “I think we have a big advantage in that we were able to test for a couple of days. Take the testing and our strong runs in recent ARCA event and I think we are in a position to do very well.”
With 44 teams taking part in the test session, Casola was able to run 17th quick with a 182.435 mph trip around the 2.66-mile oval.
At present Casola sits 14th in the ARCA RE/MAX point standings with just two races left in the season including Talladega. Mike Harmon, a veteran campaigner, is just 40 points in front of Casola. Harmon has the benefit of having run one more race than Casola.
“It would be great if we did well at Talladega and at Toledo (the season finale),” said the young racing talent. “We have the possibility of moving up a couple of spots. Maybe a top 12 finish in the points in our rookie season. That would be fantastic considering the fact we were not able to be part of the season opener at Daytona and that cost us bonus points.”
The rookie racer is also looking forward to the opportunity to race again Scott Speed, Dario Franchitti and Jacques Villeneuve, world famous open wheel racers who will be using the ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway to gain experience as they move toward careers in NASCAR competition.
Of course, with all the NASCAR owners on hand for the big NASCAR Nextel Cup weekend, it will be a great time for Casola to showcase his talents in the A.Casola Farms Ford Fusion.
The 2007 season closes out on Sunday, October 14th with the running of the Hantz Group 200 by Belle Tire at the one-half-mile high banked Toledo, Ohio Speedway.
Fans can keep tabs on Dominick at www.dominickcasola.com.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SPONSORSHIP SEMINAR/WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR LOCAL SHORT TRACK RACERS

LANGHORNE, PA September 21, 2007 . . . Sponsorship, or the lack of it, seems to be one of the biggest problems facing local short track racers.
“We have taken notice of what we consider a serious problem for the local short track racers who seem unable to attract sponsorship support,” said Ernie Saxton, publisher of Motorsports Sponsorship Marketing News. “The problem we see is that many short track racers just don’t know how to seek out serious financial support. Marketing partners are out there but it takes some time and effort plus some knowledge of what will make businesses want to get involved.”
Saxton, considered a sponsorship expert by many, will be presenting an information packed TWO HOUR sponsorship seminar/workshop on Saturday, November 17th at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Trevose, PA. Registration will start at 8:30 am and the seminar/workshop will start at 9 am.
The cost will be a low $50 and that will include a six month subscription to the monthly Motorsports Sponsorship Marketing News newsletter that has helped so many across the country with their sponsorship marketing efforts.
The two hours will be packed with dozens of ideas and helps that will point short track racers (and local drag racers) in the right direction when it comes to finding that elusive sponsor. Saxton’s seminar will center on “Finding the Almighty Racing Dollar,” an article that he recently penned for Circle Track magazine.
Reservations will be limited to 50 people and must be made in advance by telephoning 215.752.7797 with a credit card or sending a check to ESC, Inc. at 1448 Hollywood Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047.
“We will have ideas that cost nothing that will enhance a racer’s sponsorship package,” said Saxton. “Our famous ‘Hodgepodge of Sponsorship Ideas’ will be part of the seminar and workshop. We will do a question and answer session following the seminar. And we are planning to bring in a mystery guest to share his thoughts on sponsorship.”
Attendees will leave with samples of the newsletter and a copy of the “Hodgepodge of Sponsorship Ideas.”
In addition Saxton will offer a variety of his sponsorship materials at big discounts in an effort to get the attendees headed in the right direction with their sponsorship efforts.
Saxton also offers racing organizations, race teams and promoters the opportunity to make money by presenting a sponsorship seminar of their own. For details telephone Saxton on this great fund raising opportunity.
Saxton will be presenting a seminar in Pomona, CA on December 8th. Cost to attend is $150 and that includes a catered lunch. The seminar is hosted by Herndon Enterprises and information may be had by telephoning 909.615.5265.
Racers are invited to visit Saxton’s website at www.saxtonsponsormarket.com  for many sponsorship helps that are free along with information on his sponsorship marketing materials.

A GREAT RUN TURNS INTO A GOOD RUN IN EDDIE GILSTRAP ARCA RE/MAX 200 AT SALEM, INDIANA

SALEM, INDIANA September 16, 2007 . . . “We really had a great run going into the final laps of the race,” said rookie racer Dominick Casola as he described the Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200 by Advance Auto Parts ARCA RE/MAX race at Salem, Indiana Speedway. “With just a dozen or so laps to go we got hit in the rear and that caused me to spin.”
Adding insult to injury Casola was black flagged just before the green came out restarting the race and that cost him a lap as he had to make a quick trip to the pits to close the “roof flap” that had come open during the spin.
When all the action was over, and there was plenty of action on the one-half-mile, banked asphalt Salem oval, Casola managed to bring his A.Casola Farms Ford Fusion prepared by Andy Belmont Motorsports home in 15th spot, making for a good run that could have been a great one.
Casola, a former truck racer at Wall Township, NJ Speedway, started 16th in the 200 as a result of a strong qualifying effort.
And a strong effort, despite the late race problems, allowed the Holmdel, NJ racer to hold on to his 14th place in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings. In fact some of the racers that Casola is chasing to improve his end of the season point position did not fare as well as he did and he was able to gain some ground on them.
The team now heads to two days of practice at the very fast Talladega Superspeedway where things can go wrong very quickly.
Dominick did have the opportunity to test a Belmont owned car at the track in January and is very excited about the race coming up at the big track.
Casola and the A.Casola Farms Ford Fusion team will run in the ARCA RE/MAX 250 at the Talladega, Alabama Superspeedway on Friday, October 5th as part of the huge NASCAR Nextel Cup weekend. The 2.66-mile high banked track is considered by many to be the fastest and toughest of all the speedways that the ARCA RE/MAX Series competes on.
“Andy Belmont will have a very good car with a new body in place for me at Talladega,” said Casola. “I am really excited about this race. It is one I have been looking forward to all season. You just never know what will happen at Talladega so we will have to really have our “A” game ready to go.”
A strong finish at Talladega Superspeedway could move Casola up a spot or two in the point standings and he shoots for a top 12 finish in the final standings.
Something else for Casola to think about is an impressive run at Talladega Superspeedway could catch at the attention of a NASCAR owner and it certainly helps to do well in a nationally televised event, it will be seen on SPEED live, with sponsorship marketing efforts for the 2008 season.
The 2007 season closes out on Sunday, October 14th with the running of the Hantz Group 200 by Belle Tire at the one-half-mile high banked Toledo, Ohio Speedway.

SOUR ENGINE RUINS PLANNED SWEET RUN AT CHICAGOLAND FOR CASOLA

JOLIET, ILLINOIS SEPTEMBER 9, 2007 . . . Dominick Casola had high expectations heading into the nationally televised Chicagoland ARCA 200 at the Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday afternoon. With just 13 laps into the ARCA RE/MAX Series race engine problems developed and high expectations went to a sour feeling in the pit of his stomach as Casola brought the car into the pits done for the day.
“Coming off our best finish ever, a fifth at Gateway International, just a week ago we had high expectations about our chances at Chicagoland,” said the 20-year-old rookie racer. “We were 13th in the points going into this race and looking to move up in the standings. If there is any good news it is that others that we were chasing in the points did not do real well and we did not lose a lot of ground in the point chase.”
Casola started 25th in the race by virtue of his 31.477 second clocking and 171.554 mph trip around the Chicagoland oval in SIM Factory Pole qualifying. Less than a second separated the top 28 qualifiers from polesitter Michael McDowell who ran a 30.540 second lap.
“Though we did not do real well the car handled well. We had a really good car,” commented the Holmdel, NJ racer. “I think we had a top five to top eight car. We all had high expectations before the race started.”
On the first turn of the first lap Casola was hit in the rear by another competitor causing him to spin but no caution resulted. With the tires flat-spotted the A.Casola Farms Ford, prepared by Andy Belmont Motorsports, had to slow the pace a little.
An early race caution allowed Casola to take advantage of a pit stop and quick work by the Belmont crew had him back in action and charging through the field.
“I must have passed ten to 12 cars before the engine let go,” Casola said. “I was really excited about the way the car was performing. It was the same Ford Fusion he had used to finish fifth at Gateway International. In practice it had performed well in long runs and I was looking forward to running off some laps and gaining some positions. And then it all came to a quick end.”
The 80th running of the ARCA RE/MAX Series tour is set for Salem, Indiana Speedway on Saturday, September 15th under the lights. The Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA 200 by Advance Auto Parts is the event and Dominick Casola is looking forward to getting back to a short track.
“We had a good car and a good setup at Salem in the spring,” said the talented young racer. “We are looking forward the race but you just never know what is going to happen on a short track where the action is fast and someone else’s mistake can be costly.”
The one-half-mile banked Salem oval should be to Dominick’s liking since he spent some time racing trucks on the high banked Wall Township, NJ Speedway racing trucks in his early racing career.
This race is the second leg of the Bill France Triple Crown championship that showcases the tour on three very different tracks - the DuQuoin mile-dirt, the Salem Short-Track and the Talladega Superspeedway.
Casola will be spending his days between races helping workers prepare the A.Casola Farms Halloween display. During the late days of September and throughout the month of October the Holmdel, NJ farm will have daily pumpkin pickings, hay rides, petting zoos, corn mazes and their famous haunted hay rides at night. New for this year will be a Motorsports exhibit. And there is traditional fall cider and donuts. For more information telephone 732.332.1533.

HESSERT ENJOYED THE ARCA REMAX DIRT TRACK RACE AT DUQUOIN, HOOTERS CUP EFFORT AT MANSFIELD DISAPPOINTING

DUQUOIN, ILLINOIS, September 2, 2007 . . . “It was a great experience,” said Tom Hessert about his run in the Southern Illinois 100 ARCA RE/MAX Series race on the DuQuoin. Illinois Fairgrounds. “Being able to finish 20th in a field of cars that included many of the very best ARCA talents was just a very good outing for me. Andy Belmont Motorsports provided a great Ford racecar and we were able to bring I home on the lead lap.”
The 21-year-old veteran racer started 23rd in the 40-car starting field.
“This was just my second experience on dirt with the ARCA RE/MAX Series,” Hessert said. “And Andy Belmont gave me a very good car. The MAACO America’s Body Shop sponsored Ford performed well. The experience came to an end too soon for me. Finishing on the lead lap against so many great racing talents was great in my book.”
At Springfield, Illinois, a couple weeks back, Hessert was hampered by mechanical problems early and was out of the race after just five laps.
Just a fraction of a second kept Tom Hessert from qualifying for the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Sears Auto Centers 250 championship race at Mansfield, Ohio this past Saturday.
With 46 teams trying to make it into the championship race Hessert turned a 16.821 second clocking but the final starting spot in the 36-car starting field went to a 16.801 second qualifying effort.
The 21-year-old veteran racer was scheduled to be in the USAC Midget race last Friday but decided to pass on that event as he readied himself for the USAR Hooters Pro Cup race at Mansfield, Ohio Speedway this past Saturday.
Next up on the schedule for Hessert is the USAC National Midget Championship event at Plymouth, Wisconsin Speedway on Friday, September 7th. The event is the Stan Fox Memorial which was rained out back a couple weeks ago.
Hessert then heads to Anderson, Indiana for a September 15th USAC Midget race.
On Saturday, September 22nd the Cherry Hill, NJ racer will have the MAACO America’s Body Shop Chevy Monte Carlo at Iowa Speedway in Newtown, Iowa for the SoyBioDiesel 225. This is the second in a series of USAR Hooters Pro Cup end of the season championship events.
Other USAR Hooters Pro Cup championship races on the schedule include Saturday, October 6th at Myrtle Beach, SC Speedway followed by October 20th at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, GA and the season finale on November 3rd at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida.

CASOLA’S SECOND EFFORT ON DIRT WITH ARCA RE/MAX SERIES IS A GOOD ONE, HEADING TO CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY

DUQUOIN, ILLINOIS September 2, 2007 . . . With just one previous effort on a dirt track with the ARCA RE/MAX Series, that was a 13th place finish at Springfield, Illinois a couple weeks back, Dominick Casola was satisfied, not ecstatic, but satisfied with his 17th place finish in the Southern Illinois 100 at DuQuoin, Illinois Fairgrounds.
“We had a problem with a malfunctiong air gun that slowed us down a little,” commented the Holmdel, NJ racer. “During a pit stop a lug nut got caught in the air gun and that make for a somewhat slow pit stop. It was nobody’s fault. Those things happen. The crew did well and the car performed good.”
Casola, a rookie racer on the ARCA RE/MAX Series, started 22nd in the Labor Day afternoon event. A steady effort by the 20-year-old racer brought the A. Casola Farms Ford home ahead of some of the veteran performers in the 40-car starting field who had much more experience on the dirt ovals.
Casola, now 16th in the ARCA point standings, gave a lot of the credit for the good effort to car owner Andy Belmont. “Andy has been doing this for a long time, not only as an owner but for many years as a top driver on the circuit,” said Casola. “He has been a tremendous help to me. His tutoring has been immensely important to my career. And he has taught me a lot about dirt racing and during the season he has been a wealth of knowledge to me.”
Ken Schrader, a veteran Nextel Cup racer, won the race for the second year in a row.
After shaking the dirt off from DuQuoin the A.Casola Farms Ford team heads to Chicagoland Speedway, a 1.5-mile D shaped tri-oval for the running of ARCA 200 on Saturday, September 8th.
Qualifying takes place on Friday, September 7th, at 5 p.m.
And on Saturday, September 15th, Casola gets back to short track racing with the running of the Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA Fall Classic by Advance Auto at the one-half-mile Salem, Indiana Speedway.
On Saturday, October 5th the team, fielded by Andy Belmont Motorsports, heads to Talladega Superspeedway for the ARCA RE/MAX 200 on a track many consider the fastest on the circuit.
The season closes out on October 14th with the running of the Hantz Group 200 by Belle Tire being presented at Toledo, Ohio Speedway.

CASOLA HAS CAREER BEST FINISH IN ARCA RE/MAX 150 AT GATEWAY

MADISON, ILLINOIS September 1, 2007 . . . Young Dominick Casola had the best run of his ARCA RE/MAX Series career on Friday night at Gateway International Speedway (Madison, Illinois) finishing in fifth spot in the Gateway ARCA RE/MAX 150.
The 20-year-old Holmdel racer put the A.Casola Farms Ford, prepared by Andy Belmont Motorsports, in front of the pack for 11 laps and spent much of the race running with the leaders in the top five.

Casola had started the race in sixth spot as a result of a 33.831 seconds trip around the 1.25-mile semi-banked oval for a speed of 133.014 mph. The former Wall Township, NJ Speedway truck racer was sort of the “guinea pig” for all the racers as he, through the luck of the draw, got to qualify first of the more than 40 cars on hand. He picked up one and one-half seconds between practice and qualifying on a track that he had only raced on before via video games.

“I really think I could have had a second place finish in that race,” said the ARCA rookie. “Andy and the crew had really given me a great car. We had a great pit stop. This is the same car we raced at Pocono and got an eighth place finish. Unfortunately in the closing laps I got caught on the outside and almost got shoved into the wall in turn one.

“I have the huge wheel mark on the side of the A.Casola Farms Ford to show for that battle. Once I got pushed into the loose stuff it took a lap or so to get the tires clean and by then I was back in fifth.”

Casola pointed out that he thought Gateway was a fun track. It reminded him of Pocono because of the shifting that was involved.
“Overall everyone was well satisfied with the effort at Gateway,” Casola said. “Hopefully we can carry that momentum on to DuQuoin and have a strong finish…….maybe a win.”

On Labor Day Monday, September 3rd Casola gets his second chance at dirt track racing with the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Coming off an impressive 13th place finish on the dirt at Springfield, Illinois back on August 19th Casola heads to DuQuoin, Illinois for the 55th annual Southern Illinois 100 at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

This event will kick off the Bill France Triple Crown, representative of the series’ diverse schedule, which is a separate title within a title that showcases the tour on three very diverse tracks - a dirt track, a short-track and a super speedway.
The Triple Crown will include events at DuQuoin, Salem, Indiana Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

Practice for the ARCA RE/MAX Series entries at DuQuoin is scheduled for 9 am followed by SIM Factory Pole Award Qualifying at 11 am. The start of the Southern Illinois 100 is set for 1 pm.

After shaking the dirt off at DuQuoin the A.Casola Farms Ford team heads to Chicagoland Speedway, a 1.5-mile D shaped tri-oval for the running of ARCA 200 on Saturday, September 8th.

HESSERT HEADS TO DODGE, MANSFIELD AND DUQUOIN FOR RACING

CHERRY HILL, NEW JERSEY/ AUGUST 27, 2007 . . . Another hectic schedule of racing faces young Tom Hessert III this week.
The Cherry Hill, NJ racer heads to Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin for a Friday, August 31st United States Auto Club National Championship midget racing event.
A quick trip to Mansfield, Ohio on Saturday, September 1st will find Hessert and his MAACO America’s Body Shop sponsored Chevy Monte Carlo ready for action in the first of five USAC Hooters ProCup Championship events being run at Mansfield Motorsports Park. The Charlie Campbell Memorial Sears Auto Center 250 will get the green flag at 7 p.m.
Hessert earned the opportunity to participate in the championship event, pitting the Northern Division against the Southern Division, by being 28th in the Southern Division standings.
Once the Hooters ProCup event is completed Hessert grabs his suitcase and helmet and heads to DuQuoin, Illinois to drive a Ford entered by Andy Belmont Motorsports in the 55th annual Southern Illinois 100 at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Monday, September 3.
This will be the second ARCA RE/MAX Series event on dirt for Hessert as he also drove a Belmont entry back in mid-August at Springfield, Illinois. Mechanical problems forced Hessert out of the event early.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me,” said Hessert. “I was really disappointed when clutch problems put us out early at Springfield. Andy has been working with me on the Hooters Cup program and is giving me this great opportunity to show my talents on the dirt. I think we can have a great finish.”
Hessert did not get the finish he was hoping for in the August 22nd Hooters Pro Cup race at Bristol, TN Motor Speedway.
The Food City 150 presented by Naturally Fresh had the MAACO America’s Body Shop Monte Carlo taking a provisional starting position after their were problems with the rear during qualifying.
“We were running in a top 15 position after starting 34th with about 100 laps in the record book,” said the 21-year-old racer. “I was comfortable with the car and just picking off cars when I got dumped (spun). I had a good night that went bad quickly.”
Hessert was credited with 110 laps and a 27th place finish.
A scheduled United States Auto Club National Championship midget race at Plymouth, Wisconsin Speedway was rained out and rescheduled for September 7th.
On Saturday, August 25th, the young Cherry Hill, NJ racing talent had the MAACO America’s Body Shop midget at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin for a USAC/Badger Midget Association sanctioned event.
Hessert qualified 30th quick out of 61 midgets on hand. He finished third in his qualifying heat and earned a 16th place finish in the 30-lap USAC/BMARA Midget feature out of 24 cars that started.
The next night, back at the same track, the 21-year-old racer had some tough luck. Despite qualifying well, 22nd fastest of 59 midgets on hand, he missed out on qualifying for the 30-lap feature as he finished seventh in his heat race and managed a 10th in the semi-feature that saw several other top midget racers also miss the cut.

TOUGH DAY AT MILWAUKEE, CASOLA HEADS TO GATEWAY AND THE DIRT AT DUQUOIN WITH ARCA RE/MAX SERIES

MILWAUKEE, WISC./HOLMDEL, NJ August 27, 2007 . . . “It was just a tough day,” was the way Dominick Casola described the Governor’s Cup 200 at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday afternoon. “We just did not have much go right.”
The Holmdel, NJ ARCA Series rookie was credited with a 27th place finish for the A.Casola Farms Ford after starting 21st in the 41-car field of starters. Kory Rabenold (Slatington, PA) actually drove in relief for Dominick in the second half of the 200-mile race. The team was credit with 138 laps completed.
“The car just was not very good. The problems started with brake problems in practice and just continued into the race itself,” said the former Wall Township, NJ Speedway truck racer. “Andy Belmont Motorsports has been providing me great cars all season and this one had great power but after the fifth lap of the race the brakes were gone.”
A pit stop early to “loosen the car” and try to correct the brake issue did little to help. Casola said he spent most of the time “pumping the brakes” and getting nothing.
With about 50 laps in the record book a SPEED Channel national television audience saw Casola spin and tap the wall in turn two causing some front end damage to the race car.
“After a pit stop to try to straighten out the damage, I tried a few more laps but to no avail. The car was wounded and running well off the pace,” said the rookie racing talent. “With about one third of the race complete I just felt I was getting in the way on the track and did not want to be inconsiderate to the other racers on the track. I brought the car to the pits and told Andy Belmont that I was ‘just not comfortable with no brakes, overheating, and the car in the condition it was in.’ I climbed out.”
Kory Rabenold, a modified stock car racer at Pennsylvania’s Mahoning Valley Speedway, had dropped out earlier with his Interstate Batteries entry and he volunteered to finish the race in the Belmont owned Ford.
“I thank Kory for his efforts. The day had some good points,” said Casola. “I understand A.Casola Farms got a lot of TV exposure and since we are looking for a primary sponsor for the 2008 season that will give potential sponsors an idea of the great TV exposure they can gain by being involved.”
With the Milwaukee race out of the way the A.Casola Farms team heads to Gateway International Speedway for the Friday, August 31st running of the ARCA RE/MAX Series Gateway 150.
The track, located in Madison, Illinois, is a 1.25-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.
The race will get the green flag at 8 p.m. Fans are invited to an autograph session featuring Casola and all the ARCA racers at 1 pm.
Then on Labor Day Monday, September 3rd Casola gets his second chance at dirt track racing with the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
Casola is excited about the return to dirt. “We ran with the top three or four much of the race on the dirt at Springfield and that was exciting,” said the young racing talent. “We had some tire wear slow us but we think we will really be strong in this one. Dirt really offers a lot of different challenges for a race car driver and I am looking forward to the challenges and improving on our Springfield finish.”
