FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FAP/WCS Attorneys Working Diligently On Lawsuit*
Orrville, OH — Management of Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway
have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from race fans, race teams
and others who are involved in the dirt racing industry since the
announcement that the popularOrrville, OH 3/8 mile banked dirt oval was
facing additional litigation that subsequently caused the cancellation of
the track’s season finale, the 4th Annual Freedom Fighters 50 that
was to be run on September 15. Litigation that has been ongoing for nearly
two decades continues and management of the track have their attorneys
working diligently to attempt to work out a positive conclusion.
Individuals from all around the country and as far away as Australia and
Canada have called and emailed the track showing support and asking that
their voices be heard. To that end anyone wishing to write to the
proponents involved may do so by writing to the following: Judge Robert J.
Brown, Common Pleas Court House, 107 West Liberty Street, Wooster,
Ohio 44691 and/or the attorney for the plaintiff, Marie L. Moore, 136 E. Market
Street, Orrville, OH 44667.
The legal action originated in 1988 under previous ownership (Case No.:
87-CI-288, Wayne County). After 19 years of legal action and proceedings
coupled with more threats of additional legal action by two neighbors, the
track, in its 42nd season of operation, was unable to race on September
15.
The legal process has been ongoing for nearly two decades. . The case, now
in the Court of Appeals (Case No. 07-CA-0027), has hampered the operation
of the speedway based on the plaintiffs’ claims that the speedway is not
complying with a Consent Decree reached in 1988.
Two days prior to the scheduled season-ending race, management received a
letter from the plaintiffs’ attorney, Marie L. Moore, that said, in part:
“My clients are concerned that Wayne County Speedway has scheduled and
plans to conduct a racing activity at the speedway premises on Saturday
September 15, 2007 with a proposed rain date of Sunday September 16, 2007.
“My clients believe any race-type activity conducted by the Speedway after
the close of the season, September 3, 2007, and before the opening of the
season on the third Saturday of April 2008, is in violation of the May 9,
1988 Consent Decree. Further, my clients hold the position the May 9, 1988
Consent Decree does permit any type of race activity at the Speedway on
Sunday at anytime of the year.
“This letter will serve notice by the Plaintiffs that upon the Defendants that
this matter will be presented to the court for decision should the
Defendants conduct the racing activity on September 15 and/or September
16, 2007 as presently planned.”
Management immediately conferred with the speedway’s attorneys, the law
firm of Weldon, Huston & Keyser, who drafted a letter of response
immediately which stated, in part:
“We previously responded to the issues raised in your letter in my March 28 and
April 6, 2007 letters to you, which Mr. Forrer did not respond to. “Again,
in good faith and an effort to understand Mr. Forrer’s position, we would
ask that you explain to us the basis for this position that the ‘May 9,
1988 does permit any type of race activity at the Speedway on Sunday at
anytime of the year’ as stated in your letter.
“We are unable to find that prohibition in the Consent Decree. Further, as I
stated to you in the March 28 letter, and as the attached 2003 schedule
for Wayne County Speedway indicates, at a minimum, racing was held at the
Speedway that year on Sunday May 18, Sunday June 22, Sunday September 14
and Sunday September 28. Thus, we are at a loss to understand on what
basis Mr. Forrer’s claim that Sunday racing is prohibited.”
“In addition, as I noted to you in my March 28 letter, racing at the Speedway
continued as late as October 15 in 1999, October 28 in 2000, October 5 in
2002, and September 28 in 2003. The schedules for those years are
attached. Mr. Coffman had no involvement in Wayne County Speedway during
those years. We are not aware of any contention by Mr. Forrer that the
events on those days violated the Consent Decree. Certainly no contempt
action was filed. As a result, please explain how racing on September 15,
2007 is a violation of the Consent Decree, as all of the information we
have indicates that is not the case.”
And so it goes once again as litigation is once again threatened against
the speedway
Management and staff are perplexed as to the reasoning behind the current
threat of legal action in light of the fact that the speedway has been in
operation for over four decades and has always been strived to be a good
neighbor and contributing member of the community.
Over the years the speedway has raised money and awareness for a variety
of social service organizations including the Wayne County Committee for
Crippled Children, Wayne-Holmes Soap Box Derby, Boy Scouts, Racing With
Jesus Ministries, Orrville Boys & Girls Club, other organizations and
scholarships. Additionally, the track’s slate of ‘Faster Pastor’ races
raised money and food for local food banks.
The speedway has also provided an economic impact to the Orrville and
Wayne County region over the years via purchases made by race teams and
race fans at area gas stations, grocery stores, motels, department stores
and tourist attractions in addition to the many businesses that the
speedway has utilized over the years for services and products.
Additionally, the speedway has provided full and part time employment over
the years for over 50 individuals annually. The track has also been a
source of revenue for local, county, state and federal taxation
departments.
The speedway always provided a safe environment for families to enjoy a
night of entertainment and over the years several generations of race fans,
drivers and staff members have supported and enjoyed the activities at the
speedway.
The idea to build Wayne County Speedway came in late fall 1964 when N.E.
‘Pete’ Jacobs, Harve Jacobs, Wellman Lehman, Myron Werntz and Gary Bossler
came together as track officers to form a corporation for the speedway.
Using 26 acres of his own land across the road from his home, Jacobs and
the management team soon had many enthusiastic investors (stockholders) on
board including Ken Jacobs, Bob Auten, Clyde Shoup, Stanley Huffman, Glenn
Davisson, Dale Tope, John Malcuit, Bob Condo,
Rich Falk, John Johnson and a number of others.
On a warm Saturday afternoon, May 1,1965, Orrville Mayor Nelson Douglas
led a contingent of dignitaries and enthusiastically leaned on a shovel
and tossed high the first spade of earth, marking the beginning of
construction of Wayne County Speedway, Inc. Opening night was June
26,1965, and the nearly 3,000 seats were packed as fans enthusiastically
watched the ’supermodifieds’ that would eventually evolve into Sprint
Cars. The huge crowd prompted management to announce that additional
grandstands would be constructed as soon as possible. Over the years some
previous staff members were either or became attorneys, editors,
ayors, business owners, state senators, prosecuting attorneys, disc jockeys, and
other vocations.
Management will be announcing further plans and action in the coming weeks
regarding the future of the speedway in addition to details about the
legal proceedings.

K-C AND SKYLINE PROMO'S FOR
UPCOMING RACES
Dirt Track World Championship final preparations at K-C Raceway
Skyline promo below
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-The anticipation is building, the racing forums are filled
with anxious talk, and the track crew is working hard for what is expected
to be the "biggest event" in Dirt Late Model racing with the running of this
year's 27th annual Dirt Track World Championship October 18-19-20 at Jim
Nier's K-C Raceway. The beautiful fall weather has allowed K-C personnel to
make many improvements to the facility, adding fresh paint, improving
logistics, and adding much new clay to the high-speed, K-C high banks. The
Speedway has purchased land adjacent to the track and has added extra
drainage to the camping area, adding to the ever-growing K-C complex.
Camping is allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis with 50 spots in the
ain area and several hundred in the adjacent field. All camping is
primitive and there is no need to call to make reservations. Campers are
asked to conserve space and clean up after themselves by bagging trash and
observing the rights of other campers.
Due to a couple accidents last year, no four-wheelers except for those with
race teams in the pits are allowed. No ATV's are permitted in the camping
area, however, golf carts are permitted. A five-mile per hour speed limit
will be enforced to ensure the safety of all fans.
The DTWC office is handling race entries and reportedly the line-up is one of the most impressive ever with high profile drivers from all major sanctioning bodies and several yet-to-be named surprises. Not only will drivers be running for the prestige of winning the DTWC and its $50,000 pay-check, but they will also be eligible to run for the Jim Dunn Memorial non-qualifiers race and increased purse.
Modified drivers will be running for $2,500 to win and a chance to be the
DTWC modified king for the next year, an honor that has bestowed Corey
Conley and during the race's stay at K-C. 26 starters will race for $2,500
to win and $300 to start in the Modified main event.
Reinforced by last year's effort to get the race in, fans are reminded that barring rain at race time the race will go on if at all possible. Track management encourages fans to purchase tickets in advance to aid in transition through the admission gate and to ensure a good seat. Ticket sales are up and interest is much higher in this year's event, which has yielded two consecutive three- ide, highly contested racing to the finish at K-C's racy oval.
Fans are asked to check out K-C Raceway and its all-new playground and
other important attractions for kids and adults of all ages. After the
October 1 pre-sale deadline expires, tickets prices will be $50 for adult
general admission, $15 children general admission ages 6-11 with children
under age six admitted free for general admission. Three-day pit passes
will be $60.
Special reserved seating is also being made available for the 27th Annual
Dirt Track World Championship presented by Gottarace.com. The top five rows
of the grandstands, including the main grandstands and the new grandstands
in turn four will be mandated reserved seating. K-C is south of Chillicothe on
SR 23, two miles out Blain Highway at Alma. For further information,
please call 740-663-4141. For ticket information, visit the K-C website at
<<www.kc-raceway.com>> or call

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Wayne County Speedway Owner On Doug’s Dirt Diary Radio*
Orrville, OH --- Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway owner & promoter
Ernie Coffman is the latest guest to appear on the nationally acclaimed
Doug’s Dirt Diary radio program. Coffman’s interview is now available
online at: www.dougsdirtdiary.com
Coffman, who has owned the popular 3/8 mile banked dirt oval for the past
four years talks about his experiences there in addition to the hurdles
the track faces from litigation.
Coffman, a proponent and support of the Ohio Motorsports Council, is in the
midst of an inherited 19-year court battle with the track, now in its 42nd
season, on the line for its existence. Coffman explains his perspective
about the case and the recent legal maneuvering by the opponents of the
track.
Further threats of additional legal action just two days prior to the
speedway's planned September 15 'Freedom Fighters 50' race, an event that
recognizes and honors the contributions of our country's military forces as well
as our country's domestic safety services men and women, forced
cancellation of the event. Coffman discussed this and other issues on the
popular radio program.
Doug Elkins, a veteran upstate New York-based announcer who has been covering
racing in the Northeast for 15 years, launched the ‘Doug’s Dirt Diary’
website on April 15, 2006. He’s been recording interviews with dirt-track
personalities daily since then, amassing thousands of hours of on-line
audio.
The latest legal salvo was the track’s Saturday September 15’s 4th Annual
Freedom Fighters 50 for Super Late Models & Sprint Cars extravaganza being
canceled due to ongoing and impending legal action against the popular
north central Ohio dirt track. The legal action originated in 1988 under
previous ownership (Case No.: 87-CI-288, Wayne County). After 19 years of
legal action and proceedings coupled with more threats of additional legal
action by two neighbors, the track, in its 42nd season of operation, was
unable to race on Saturday September 15.
The legal process has been ongoing for nearly two decades. The case, now
in the Court of Appeals (Case No. 07-CA-0027), has hampered the operation
of the speedway based on the plaintiffs' claims that the speedway is not
complying with a Consent Decree reached in 1988.

Continued Litigation Forces Cancellation Of Wayne County Speedway’s
‘Freedom Fighters 50’ *
Orrville, OH --- This Saturday night's 4th Annual Freedom Fighters 50 for Super
Late Models & Sprint Cars extravaganza at Federated Auto Parts Wayne
County Speedway in Orrville, OH has been canceled due to ongoing and
impending legal action against the popular north central Ohio dirt track. The
legal action originated in 1988 under previous ownership (Case No.:

speedway's planned September 15 'Freedom Fighters 50' race, an event that
recognizes and honors the contributions of our country's military
forces as well as our country's domestic safety services men and women,
forced cancellation of the event.
"We are extremely disappointed that we couldn't run this race and event on
September 15," commented Ernie Coffman, who purchased the speedway four
years ago. "I mean, here we are trying to acknowledge the sacrifices of
our armed forces in addition to our police and fire personnel and we have
been thrown yet another roadblock. It was also our annual Kids Nite and
Back To School Nite, a night that families traditionally enjoy, especially
the hundreds of children that attend, and that too is now not happening."
Management, which has only been able to run twice since experiencing a
fire on April 21 that destroyed the concession stand and office, is
puzzled by the latest round of potential threats of additional lawsuits
and litigation.
Two days prior to the scheduled season-ending race, management received a
letter from the plaintiffs' attorney, Marie L. Moore, that said, in part:
"My clients are concerned that Wayne County Speedway has scheduled and

are of his, we felt that the change would benefit not only race teams but
the fans as well.”
“In fact, we have heard from a number of Sprint Car fans who asked if
there was a possibility of changing the date to accommodate them seeing
the All Stars at Attica and then having a chance to see Sprint Cars at Federated
Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway. I think this will work out well for
everyone.”

DirtOnDirt.com, set to debut on September 4, has come on board as the
sponsor of the Fast Qualifier Award for the 27th Annual Dirt Track World
Championship presented by GottaRace.com (DTWC), one of dirt Late Model
racing's true crown jewel events that will be held on October 18-20, 2007
at Jim Nier's KC Raceway in Waverly, OH paying the winner $50,000.
DirtOnDirt.com, the first comprehensive, multimedia source for all things
dirt Late Model racing, will also have a presence throughout the weekend
interacting with race fans and teams in addition to presenting the
DirtOnDirt.com Fast Qualifier Award for Late Models.
“Our sport has moved past the grass-roots stage, and its fans are starving
for the kind of timely, expansive and reliable media coverage that only we
will provide,” stated Michael F. Rigsby, chief executive officer of
DirtOnDirt.com. “"We're extremely excited to be a part of the 27th Annual
Dirt Track World Championship presented by GottaRace.com. It's no doubt
one of the biggest weekends of the year for Dirt Late Model Racing, and
for our name to be attached to it in any way is an honor. We're a new
company, so aligning ourselves with an old tradition like the DTWC is
something we're truly looking forward to."
DirtonDirt.com, with plans to provide on-site coverage between 60 and 70
races from more than two dozen series around the country over the next
year, will offer a one-stop shop for the Dirt Late Model fan. Consistently
updated content will be available in the gamut of formats:
broadcast-news-quality video reports, text stories, downloadable audio,
blogs and more. The DTWC will also be a source of up to the minute
reporting that will be featured on DirtOnDirt.com
The founders of DirtonDirt.com are Rigsby, a former TV sports anchor for
the NBC affiliate in Madison, Wis.; staff writer Todd Turner, one of Dirt
Late Model’s most respected writers with more than 10 years covering the
sport, most recently for National Dirt Digest, and promotions director
Amber Vander Pluym, who has four years of experience in marketing for some
of the nation’s largest radio conglomerates. DirtonDirt.com will work with
contributing reporters and photographers to deliver national-scope
coverage of Dirt Late Model racing.
“I think the DTWC is the perfect race weekend to really show not only those in
attendance, but those around the country, and the world, what potential
DirtOnDirt.com has for not only our race but the industry,” commented Carl
Short, founder and promoter of the DTWC. “And we’re grateful they have
supported the race by sponsoring the Fast Qualifier Award for $1,000. It
shows their commitment to not only the Dirt Track World Championship but
to the sport as well.”
“And with the backgrounds, experience and solid reputations for quality
work shown in the past by Michael, Todd and Amber, I think it’s safe to
say DirtOnDirt.com will be an industry leader in their field soon. I’m
excited about the whole concept and I think it will be a benefit to the
Dirt Track World Championship.”
The proponents of DirtOnDirt.com also feel that marketing their new
product through the 27th Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented by
GottaRace.com will help accelerate awareness throughout the racing
community. "Absolutely!" confirmed Rigsby. “Thousands of people will
descend on Chillicothe that weekend, and people at the race will not only
get a chance to see how DirtonDirt.com does things on location, but
thousands of people can follow the entire weekend on our website. The
exposure we will gain is the exact shot in the arm a new business needs."
“We're looking forward to presenting the big check on Friday night!”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
One More Race & Future Plans For Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway
Orrville, OH --- There is only one more race slated for the ‘old’ Federated Auto
Parts Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH and that will be the 4th
Annual Freedom Fighters 50 on Saturday September 1, 2007. After that
construction will begin on the ‘new’ Federated Auto Parts Wayne County
Speedway according to track management. The upcoming 4th Annual Freedom
Fighters 50 will be a season-ending extravaganza for race fans and teams
before the facility undergoes an extensive facelift.
The 4th Annual Freedom Fighters 50 for Super Late Models will spotlight
the Super Late Models along with Sprint Cars, Pure Stocks and the make up
Modified feature from April 21 when the concession/office fire occurred.
“This race is something we dreamed up back when we bought the race track
and its to honor those who serve as policemen, firemen, our soldiers
oversees, it’s a race to honor folks like those and they deserve it,”
commented Ernie Coffman, promoter & owner of the track. “And besides that,
we will be offering race fans some top notch racing that night with other
activities either already planned or in the planning stages.”
In addition to the race program that evening the track will also celebrate
it’s annual Kid’s Night coupled with Back-To-School Night. A special
pre-race autograph session will be held and a special color guard unit
will be on hand for opening ceremonies. “There’s more and our staff is working
diligently on planning additional promotional activities for the fans and
drivers for that night, so stay tuned,” added Coffman.
Coffman revealed some plans for the new renovation project that will
commence this fall. “After September 1 we’ll start on renovating the
whole facility and get ready for a very active weekly program in 2008,
that’s the plan right there,” commented Coffman. “We are definitely going
renovate the facility. We’re putting everything behind the grandstands.
We’ll have new restrooms, new concession stand, new office, a new
observation deck, a new scoring tower and VIP suites or skyboxes.
The bathrooms and the VIP suites will be air-conditioned. We’ll be doing
some other things that will bring the facility up-to-date and provide a
more enjoyable experience for our fans.”
Coffman also addressed the questions that many race fans have poised
concerning the limited number of races being held since the April 21 fire.
“We were allotted so many days to race whether we raced or didn’t that is
what we got,” stated Coffman, referring to several government entities
that oversee construction within the county and state and the need to
bring utilities and construction to current code standards. “That’s what
we got from the government. They were very kind to let us do what we are
doing. We could push the envelope and put us back in a court situation but
we thought it was better to follow the rules and regulations.”
“The county officials, like the health department for example, have really
been extraordinary to the track. They have been extremely professional and
supportive of us and they have done what they can to even let us race a
couple times this year until construction is done. They understand
how important the track is to the community and the economic impact it
provides to so many businesses in the area. They have all been professional and
very cooperative in every way.”
When the April 21 fire shut the track down for two months Coffman and
staff were pleasantly surprised by the tremendous amount of support the
track received from race fans, teams and area businesses and it all
culminated on June 25 for the 12th Annual Pete Jacobs Memorial, part of
the 25th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek which saw the track have a sell-out
crowd it’s first night back in operation.
“The first night back for the Ohio Sprint Speedweek show, it was awesome
the turn out, it was more than we expected,” said Coffman. “Anytime you
get support it just shows that people have interest. The response and
support has been great. We get race fans calling the shop all the time
asking if we can race again the next week.”
“The race track has been great for the last two shows and the fans have
turned out. The drivers have been supportive too. For example, J.R. Gentry
walked up to me and said, ‘I never thought I’d say this but I have to
thank you for having such a nice race track.’ That was something I
couldn’t just believe.”
The ongoing, long-term court case against the track that originated in
1988 is now in the District Court of Appeals and management feels
confident about the outcome.
“It’s such a shame we have so much support from the community, government
officials, local media, area businesses to say nothing of race fans and
race teams, it’s all been so positive,” said Coffman. “But yet on the
other hand we have a couple individuals who want to try and shut us down
through the courts and their actions isn’t only detrimental to the
speedway and all the race teams’ investment, but it’s also detrimental to
the economic impact to Orrville and Wayne County. Why? Why would a couple
people want to do this to so many people and to a successful business that
has been in operation for 42 years and contributed tax money, provided
jobs for people and brought in customers to other businesses in the area?”
“Time will tell I guess but we are looking ahead to the 2008 racing season
at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway and many years to come
afterwards. This track is a vital part of the community and we aim to keep
it that way.”
More details about the upcoming 4th Annual Freedom Fighters 50 on
Saturday September 1 will be forthcoming over the next several weeks.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Flyin’ Ryan Markham Leads The Fireworks In ‘Firecracker 4’ Finale
By Doc Lehman
Orrville, OH --- With the enormous Orrville Firefighters produced
fireworks spectacular serving as a patriotic and colorful backdrop
during the entire $4,000 to win 40-lap final leg of the inaugural Ohio
Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4 presented by Hoosier Tire Mid
Atlantic main event at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway on
Saturday July 7, Ashland, OH’s ‘Flyin’ Ryan Markham led the on-track
fireworks in capturing the main event over a quality field of Super Late
Models capping a two night sweep for the popular racer.
At the drop of flagman Don Carnes’ green flag Rick Aukland shot into the lead
hounded by Markham, Scott Peltz, George Lee, Rick Bond and Mike Balzano
but it only took until the third circuit for Markham to snag the lead with
Aukland at his heels while Peltz and Balzano engaged in a battle for
third. As the laps began to tick off Markham and Aukland set sail with
Peltz and Balzano swapping third place lap after lap with eighth starting
Doug Drown jousting with Dave Hornikel for fourth.
With cars two and three wide throughout the field jockeying for position Markham
entered lapped traffic on lap 24 with Aukland, Peltz, Balzano, Drown,
Robbie Blair and Lee in pursuit. Within a couple laps Markham had turned
on the afterburners and threaded the needle through lapped traffic
eventually putting nearly a full straightaway on the rest of the pack as
Peltz worked his way into second followed by Balzano, Aukland with Drown
and Blair dueling side by side. When the checkers dropped it was all
Markham followed by Peltz, Balzano, Aukland, Blair, Drown, Lee,
Hornikel, Rocky Owens and Rick Bond.
“This has been a great weekend after the slow start we’ve had this year,” stated
Markham who won driving his Massillon Transmission, Stu’s Place, Dor-Lo’s
Pizza sponsored Rocket Chassis/C & C Performance Engines #5m. “We were
here two weeks ago and ran second to (Donnie) Moran using the low groove
but tonight we went up to the top groove and it worked for us. The car
worked great, the crew did a terrific job and it feels good to win back to
back nights.” Markham had won the first portion of the special series the
night prior at Lakeville Speedway.
Winning heat races were Balzano, Drown & Hornikel while Aukland won the dash and
Eric Myers won the B Main.
In the Thrifty Discount Muffler Pure Stock main event after a lap one red flag
Fred Snyder set the pace followed closely by Chad Craver, Don Baney,
Randy Nisly and Jim Nicely. As the laps were run off Nicely was all over
Baney for third as the pair powered through the turns side by side for
several laps as Nicely eventually finessed his way into second place and
set his sites on Snyder who he was able to pass on lap nine off turn two
with Snyder, Baney, Craver and Frank Oriti in hot pursuit. During the
latter stages the trio of Snyder, Baney and Oriti entertained and
energized the crowd with a three-way slugfest for second with Baney taking
command of the runner-up spot on lap 18. During the final two laps it was
Nicely, of Atwater, OH, in charge and taking the win over, Baney, Snyder,
Oriti, Jose Marsh, Troy Anderson, Craver, Dave Haven, Jr., Nisly and
Travis Menshing.
The Mini Stocks did double duty with two feature events starting with April 21
postponed main event that had Cody Rinard in large and in charge pulling
away from the field until a lap seven caution. On the restart Neil Nisly
made his presence known by taking second from Don Lehman while Charlie Ray
and Chase Alexander went side by side battling for fifth that eventually
saw Alexander make his way up to third and holding on while Nisly took the
win over Rinard, Alexander, Ray, Dale Beckett, Lehman, Jeff Theil, Mitch
Reichard, Jorden James and John Raber.
In the second Mini Stock barnburner main event Dale Beckett returned to his
familiar winning ways by taking the feature win over a hard-charging Henry
Britton, Neil Nisly, Chase Alexander, Cody Rinard, Jeff Theil,
Charlie Ray, Jorden James, Waine Newbury and Brian Baker, Sr.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Drivers Like ‘Gas Saver’ Ohio LM Speedweek Concept
Orrville, OH --- The upcoming inaugural Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek
Firecracker 4 presented by Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic will run on
consecutive nights July 4-7 and will carry a total payoff of nearly
$100,000 at both Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway in Orrville,
OH and Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH and it’s a ‘gas saving tour’
that has dirt Late Model racers and fans locally and regionally taking a
good hard look at the relative low-mileage four night stand.
“The biggest thing that I am pumped up about is that Speedweek deal is
really a ‘gas saving tour’,” commented George ‘The General’ Lee of
Loudonville, OH, driver of the Maibach Ford #21 Rocket Chassis. “I went
to Tyler County (Speedway) two weeks ago and that’s three and a half
hours, look where went this past weekend to race, in Canada and that’s 12
hours. So if you look at it, there’s a chunk of change up for grabs that week
and the tracks are only, what, 27 miles apart.”
Each Super Late Model feature event will be 40-laps paying $4,000 to win
and $420 to take the green flag and race time will commence at 8:00 PM
each night. On Wednesday July 4 the inaugural Ohio Super Late Model
Speedweek Firecracker 4 presented by Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic will
kick-off at Lakeville Speedway then continue at Federated Auto Parts Wayne
County Speedway on Thursday July 5 before returning to Lakeville on Friday
July 6 and then wrap up on Saturday July 7 at Federated Auto Parts Wayne
County Speedway.
“It’s nice to have two tracks that close to go to,” commented former WCS
track champion Doug Drown of Wooster, OH who drives the Wooster Glass Co.
#12 Rocket Chassis. “And its kind of nice it’s unsanctioned too. It’s hard
telling who will show up but there are a lot of drivers talking about it.”
Drivers from several states are expected to compete and race fans will be
treated to one driver that will be a fairly new face. Perth Western
Australia dirt Late Model star Craig Vosbergen will be racing in the
United States during the month of July and who will kick off his ‘USA
Dirt Tour’ competing in the Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4
presented by Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic at both tracks.
“To race at these events is going to be a great way to kick of my race
schedule in the USA,” stated Vosbergen. “Having these venues so close by
is a bonus as there won't be much travel involved, which will be good after just
flying 36 hours, and I can't wait to get there! Hopefully Doug (Drown)
will give me some of his setup tips as they tell me he runs pretty hard at
both venues.”
Vosbergen will be using the Doug Drown Racing shop as his base of
operations during his stay stateside and will be driving the Racin Tyres
#8 Rocket Chassis. “I would just like to be competitive in these events
and qualifying for the each of the main events will be good,” added
Vosbergen. “We haven't raced since Easter time here (Australia) so I'm
likely to be a bit rusty and I'm sure it will take a few races to settle
into my new car/engine package.”
Vosbergen is also looking forward to the tough competition he will face
among the many dirt Late Model stars who will be participating. “The
competition is always tough no matter where you race these days and I'm
sure with the purse on offer for these four nights there won't be an easy
ride at any of these races,” commented Vosbergen.
The competition that Vosbergen mentions is something that Kristin Flory is also
looking forward to.
Flory of Creston, OH drives the J&D Trucking #U2 Mastersbilt Race Car and
is a former Lakeville Speedway track champion. “I am excited for Wayne
County to reopen, I have missed being over there,” said Flory, who’s
husband. Jason, is the defending WCS track champion. “It makes it even
more exciting now because I know that I am going to be able to race my car
and not just watch. I really want to show that I can compete with the Super
Late Models.”
“My first goal each night will just be to make the show. You cannot win from
watching from the stands. I hope lots of cars show up because I like
competition.” And there are others who agree with Flory about the
competition aspect.
“We’ve been running really well here lately and that helps,” said Drown.
“We want to go and make all four shows. The competition is unreal this
year. Like with Ryan (Markham), George Lee, and (Eric) Spud (Myers), the
locals are tough. We’re confident but we’re not getting our hopes to high
because anything can happen in racing.”
For the inaugural Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4 presented
by Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic at Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway
gates will open both nights at 3:30, qualifying at 6:30 with racing at
8:00 PM. Admission will be $20 (Adults); $15 (Seniors); Ages 15 &
Under: Free! And Pits: $35.
At Lakeville Speedway both nights the gates will open for Super Late
Models only at 2:00; grandstands & pits at 4:30; qualifying at 5:00 with
racing at 8:00 PM. Admission will be: $20 (Adults); $15 (Seniors); $10
(Ages 15-16); 14 & Under: Free and Pits: $35.
Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway races every Saturday night with
gates opening at 3:00 PM, qualifying at 5:30 and racing at 7:00 PM. FAP/WCS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway Says ‘Thanks’
Orrville, OH --- The management and staff of Federated Auto Parts Wayne County
Speedway in Orrville, OH would like to take a moment to thank a multitude
of people who helped make last Monday’s re-opening of the track such a
success. The track suffered a major fire on April 21 that destroyed the
office and concession stand and caused extensive damage to he electrical
system but within two months the track was in operation for the 12th
Annual Pete Jacobs Memorial presented by Federated Auto Parts.
“First of all, on behalf of my family and the staff, we want to thank the
many, many race fans who came out on Monday night and supported the
track,” stated Ernie Coffman, owner & promoter of Federated Auto Parts
Wayne County Speedway. “As is always the case in any type of racing, it’s
the fans who keep this thing going and we are very grateful for their
support, interest and enthusiasm. None of this would be possible with out
them.”
“I would like to thank the race teams who came out and supported the show
and put on such a great night of entertainment for so many people. The same goes
with our track sponsors and in particular Federated Auto Parts who have
stood by us since the fire and have been a big supporter of the track, the
teams and the fans.”
“And last, but certainly not least, our terrific staff. They went above and
beyond the call of duty and, as usual, did a great job for all of us. We are
fortunate to have such a quality and dedicated team here at Federated Auto
Parts Wayne County Speedway.”
“I would also like to extend a hearty thank you of appreciation to the
local and racing media for their support as well. We are very grateful for the
generosity they extended us.”
Track management would like to particularly recognize mainstream radio
entities like WNCO, Clear Channel and WQKT and racing radio programs Dirt
Nation™ Live and Doug’s Dirt Diary Radio. Management would also like
to acknowledge mainstream newspapers like the Daily Record, News Journal,
Bargain Hunter, Independent, Repository, Trading Post, Times
Reporter and so many others in addition to the racing media publications
like Area Auto Racing News, RPM Racing News, Dirt Late Model magazine, Mid
American Auto Racing News, National Dirt Digest and others.
“When I saw that fire back on April 21 my heart sank into my shoes,”
commented Chuck Griffith, General Manager of the track. “It just broke my heart
and I thought that tragedy would probably keep us from racing until the
2008 season. But within about a 24 period after those embers had died the
phone started ringing from as far away as South Carolina, Michigan and all
over the country really from promoters saying whatever we can do to help,
we will help Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway.”
“Our fans, our sponsors, our racers, everyone involved in the community
last Monday really made it happen one day before our 42nd anniversary.
What a way to have a grand re-opening with the 12th Annual Pete Jacobs
Memorial presented by federated Auto Parts as part of Ohio Sprint
Speedweek.”
“Looking to the media side, sometimes, even NASCAR, the media is a little bit
tough on drivers and facilities and that didn’t happen to us. There was
some negativity on a couple of the internet message boards where a couple
said we were done, we wouldn’t open back up this year, or ever let alone
Speedweek. But Ernie Coffman took it by the horns and assured everyone
that we would be ready, and we were.”
“We had people like WNCO, Clear Channel WQKT, the local papers like the Daily
Record who let fans know what was going on. The local and racing media
really came on board and really got the word out. We are very grateful to
everyone for the support we have received.”
Management would also like to single out a number of staff members and
others who spent several weeks nearly daily at the track getting the
facility back in operation for the re-opening. “Without their help the
gates might still be locked, so we thank you again,” said Coffman
referring to Randy Goff, Al Hutchison, Larry Caskey, Russ Geiser, Rick
Corns, Tim Myers, Junior Domer, Ed Dyer & Chase Coffman.
Up next for Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway is the upcoming
inaugural Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4 presented by
Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic will run on consecutive nights July 4-7 and will
carry a total payoff of nearly $100,000 at both Federated Auto Parts Wayne
County Speedway in Orrville, OH and Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH.
County peedway on Thursday July 5 before returning to Lakeville on Friday
July 6 and then wrap up on Saturday July 7 at Federated Auto
Parts Wayne County Speedway.
More potential race dates will be announced in the coming weeks. Due to upcoming
construction of a new 192 foot, two and a half story concession
stand/office/scoring tower/restrooms that will be constructed during the
off-season and regulations that require the facility be brought up to code
and current specs, the track is limited in the number of race dates by
local and state entities until all construction is completed and
approved.
“The government offices we are required to work with and get approval from, both
on the county and state level, have been exceptional to work with,” stated
Coffman. “We are grateful for their support and understanding they have
extended to us and we are more than happy to work with them and comply with
their regulations. And we’re looking forward to bringing back a full
schedule and our weekly shows next year.”
For the inaugural Ohio Super Late Model Speedweek Firecracker 4
presented by Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic at Federated Auto Parts Wayne
County Speedway gates will open both nights at 3:30, qualifying at 6:30
with racing at 8:00 PM. Admission will be $20 (Adults); $15 (Seniors);
Ages 15 & Under: Free! And Pits: $35.
At Lakeville Speedway both nights the gates will open for Super Late

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Stewart & Moran Power to Pete Jacobs Memorial Wins At WCS
By Brian Liskai & Doc Lehman
Orrville, OH --- Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, the Federated Auto Parts
Wayne County Speedway came back to racing life Monday, as the University
of Northwest Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Speedweek presented
by RacingJunk.com helped the track reopen from a devastating April fire. A
capacity crowd, 50 O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion Sprints and 31
Super Late Models jammed the pits Monday for the 12th Annual Pete Jacobs
Memorial presented by Federated Auto Parts.
Shane Stewart drove the Junior Holbrook/Larry Wood owned #8h to the $5,000
victory in the second night of the 25th Annual Ohio Speedweek.
"I'm glad we started up front...it was hard to pass out there tonight," said
Stewart as he gazed at his bald right rear tire. "Larry and Junior decided
to run a little harder tire and that made the difference. I was just
trying to keep the car as straight as I could and not burn off the tires."
Stewart and Byron Reed led the field to the green, with everyone
maneuvering to get to the bottom of the track. Stewart would grab the lead
- one he would never relinquish - with Reed, local hero Kenny Jacobs (his
grandfather Pete build the Wayne County speedplant), defending Speedweek
champion Dale Blaney and current All Star point leader Danny Smith in tow.
Reed would exit on lap 16 with mechanical woes, putting Blaney, Sunday
night's winner, right on Stewart's rear bumper.
The third place battle between Jacobs and Smith wo
