CHECKERED FLAG CHARITY AUCTION RESULTS FROM MOTORSPORTS 2008 STILL BEING TALLIED

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - February 24, 2008. . . Good news is still rolling in from the Motorsports 2008 presented by VP Racing Fuels held Jan. 18-20 at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

The Checkered Flag Auction results are still being tallied. Preliminary reports show that donations to the 2008 auction to benefit The RAACE Foundation rose to over $8,000 and still counting.

The top dollar items included: a 1/16th scale diecast GMP 1965 sprint car autographed by AJ Foyt which went for $275, a race used piece of sheet metal from Carl Edwards No. 60 Busch car at $300, a 1/43rd scale diecast 1955 modified autographed by Mario Andretti raised $155, Butlerbuilt’s barstool from the movie "Cars" premier was a bargain at $155.00, and a burly piece of race used Tony Stewart sheet metal recorded a sound $205 donation.

"The RAACE Foundation or The Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere launched its 2008 fundraising campaign at Motorsports 2008 entitled 'The RAACE to $2,000,000' and those funds donated by Ron Hubscher and his team are a great start" says Outreach Director Brad Brickel.

"Reaching the goal is very important to The RAACE Foundation as 60% of the funds we raise in The RAACE to $2,000,000 will go back into local Child Advocacy Centers for use on their own awareness materials. The other 40% will be used by The RAACE Foundation to continue its awareness campaign at race tracks, trade shows and other motorsports events throughout the country," Brickel added.

"Child Advocacy Centers (CAC’s) are child-friendly facilities where child victims of maltreatment may be interviewed, undergo medical examinations, and receive therapy. A CAC coordinates medical, law enforcement, social services, prosecution, mental health, and victim advocacy resources which work together in the investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of child abuse cases. The main goal of any CAC is to ensure that children are not re-victimized by the very system designed to protect them," says Victoria Brooks, Programs and Services Director at The RAACE Foundation.

The RAACE Foundation celebrating its fourth anniversary wants to acknowledge all of the companies, race teams and drivers which contributed to the 2008 Checkered Flag Auction. They appreciate your continued support and would like to announce that once again the 2009 Checkered Flag Auction will benefit The RAACE Foundation. It will take courage, determination and the efforts of many like those at Motorsports 2008 to make a difference in the fight against child sexual abuse.

The RAACE Foundation needs your continued support, because it is the right thing to do. To make a donation of services, event tickets, vacation packages; race used helmets, driver suits, or sheet metal; autographed memorabilia or collectible merchandise to the 2009 Checkered Flag Auction to benefit The RAACE Foundation contact Ron Hubscher at 609-575-8138 anytime.

The RAACE Foundation (Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere) is a non-profit (501c3) organization dedicated to fighting the epidemic of child sexual abuse by raising public awareness.

An estimated 39 million survivors of child sexual abuse exist in America today. Statistics indicate that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. In 90% of reported cases, the abuser is someone the child knows and trusts.

By bringing to light the prevalence of child sexual abuse, The RAACE Foundation hopes to lessen the social stigma associated with addressing this troubling and destructive social issue. Only when the problem of sexual  abuse is faced openly can we hope to protect our children. For more information on The RAACE Foundation, please visit www.raace.org  or call 1-800-755-KIDS.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ January 21, 2008 . . . Huge crowds charged through the turnstiles for another blockbuster Motorsports 2008 Race Car Show presented by VP Racing Fuels at the beautiful Atlantic City Convention Center this past weekend.
Show attendees were able to see more than 250 motorsports vehicles on display throughout the 300,000 square foot show area. In addition there were more than 600 exhibit areas where attendees were able to see just about everything imaginable in motorsports.
Several well known NASCAR racers were on hand for FREE autograph sessions that drew outstanding crowds including Ken Schrader (who also raced in the SoBe Life Water Indoor racing events on Friday night at Boardwalk Hall), Martin Truex, Jr., Casey Mears, Dave Blaney, Ron Hornaday, and Kenny Wallace. Sprint car racing legend Doug Wolfgang was also a popular attraction at the show.

One of the hugely popular attractions during the show was the Friday morning (January 18th) stage show featuring Kenny Wallace and Kenny Schrader responding to questions from the large number of fans on hand.
In the always popular U.S. Tobacco Ms. Motorsports contest Miss Tiffany Skias, an 18-year-old Millersville, PA University student, was the winner.

Representing the Skias family the Math Education major was a popular winner in the 23rd edition of the Ms. Motorsports contest.
The 5’2”, 102 pound beauty, making just her first try in the contest, resides in Wernersville, Pa and is the daughter of 270cc/600cc Micro Sprint racer Pete Skias. Her grandfather, Chris Skias, was a popular Modified stock car racer at the old Reading, PA Fairgrounds Speedway.

Brothers Mike and Nick Skias also race Micro Sprints.

Tiffany was a rookie racer in 270 Micro Sprints at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, PA. “I am working my way up. I was able to get a third place finish for my best effort in 2007, “said Skias. “We are looking at running other tracks this season in addition to Linda’s.”

Her favorite driver is her boyfriend, Cody Darrah, who is also an outstanding Micro racing talent.
Other hobbies for the new Ms. Motorsports include dancing and cheerleading.

“I am very excited about winning and really looking forward to representing the show at personal appearances throughout the season,” Skias said. “I would love it if this could lead to other career opportunities in the sport.”
Skias also took first place honors in the Swimwear competition.

First runner-up was Alyssa Sharman with Loralyn Brinster taking second runner-up honors.
Lindsay Clynne was named Miss Congeniality.

Most Photogenic honors went to Clara Henson while Sportswear honors went to Lindsay Clynne giving her top honors in two divisions of competition.

Tiffany Skias earned $1,500 in cash as Ms Motorsports along with $500 from FantaSea Resorts for her win in the Swimwear competition. In addition she took home a Design 500 jacket and a poster deal, worth $1,000, courtesy of Area Auto Racing News.
Long time Ms. Motorsports Master of Ceremonies Ernie Saxton announced his retirement from that position after 22 years on the job.

“It was time,” said Saxton. “I have had a wonderful time MCing the event. I have met a lot of wonderful young ladies and really got a kick out of entertaining the show attendees. However my duties with the Promoter’s Summit and my show public relations work just does not allow me the amount of time needed to do a proper job.

“Don’t get me wrong, I am not leaving the show I am just devoting my efforts to other areas. The Ms. Motorsports pageant is in good hands with new MC Shane Andrews.”

Saxton was presented with a plaque recognizing his 22 years of service.

The three day show, Friday thru Sunday, at the A.C. Convention Center offered more than two dozen seminars covering a variety of subjects,

Special “Best of Show” awards were presented to:

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ January 21, 2008... A strong turnout of track promoters and organization officials were on hand for the first Promoter’s Summit presented as part of the huge Motorsports 2008 Race Car Show presented by VP Racing Fuels at the Atlantic City, NJ Convention Center.

The atmosphere of the gathering was upbeat with a lot of idea sharing going on amongst the attendees representing tracks and organizations in 13 different states.

“We feel it was a great first time event. We had good reviews from the attendees,” said Summit organizer Ernie Saxton. “We can see some areas that we need to change. It was exciting to see the exchange of information that went on between attendees and the various experts that served on the various panels.”

There was a lot of participation by attendees as they filled their Promoter’s Summit notebooks and asked the long list of seminar presenters many, many questions.

NASCAR, ASA, WSIB Insurance, K&K Insurance and VP Racing Fuels sponsored hospitality events that offered networking opportunities.

Keynote speakers were Dennis Huth of ASA and Jim Hunter of NASCAR. Both spoke on the state of the short track auto racing industry and responded to questions by attendees.

Some of the subjects included during the two day Summit included:
“It’s easier to steal a good idea than to think it up yourself.”
“A racer’s viewpoint.”
“Working with the media.”
“Race track legal issues”
“Community Relations.”
“Track Management Software Program.”
“Promoters Speak.”
And more.

Plans for the 2009 edition of the Promoter’s Summit are already on the drawing board with new subjects to be covered and other activities to be added. SECOND ANNUAL 600SCENE.COM ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION SET FOR MOTORSPORTS 2008 PRESENTED BY VP RACING FUELS AT A.C.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ December 5, 2007 .. . . 600Scene.com is pleased to announce the Second Annual 600cc Roundtable Discussion to be held at Motorsports 2008 presented by VP Racing Fuels in Atlantic City, N.J., on Sat., Jan. 19. The discussion will be held from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

The discussion will be on the current state of the class and an outline of the new universal rules package. This yearąs panel will include industry anufacturers Mike Dicely (Hyper Racing), Terry Schaeffer (RTS Chassis), Brett Schoenly (SB3 RaceCars) and a representative from Stallard Chassis. Engine Builder Jim Dunckley (Speep Equipment Corp.) and industry representative Kevin Steele (600Scene.com) will also be on the panel. Track owners will be represented by Brad Hostetter (Pa.‘s Trail-Way Speedway) and John Winsett (Pa.‘s Path Valley Speedway). New to this year’s roundtable, Warren “Trip” Kone, familiar to all 600cc competitors in the area will serve as the moderator of the discussion.

“It will be an open forum like last year, with “Trip” moderating being the only difference. I am sure a variety of topics will be discussed. The new “universal engine” rules will probably be a large area of focus, but I want everyone to understand that any and all topics are up for discussion. I believe this year’s event is a half-hour longer than last year’s.  “It is going to be a great venue to bring everybody up to speed on some of the gray areas that may still exist with the adoption of the new universal engine rules. I know the connecting rod issue and the use of different year wiring harnesses have been hot topics and this will be the time for those issues to be addressed,” stated Kevin Steele of 600Scene.com.

Motorsports 2008 presented by VP Racing Fuels is a Len Sammons Motorsports Production and will be held on Jan. 18-20 in conjunction with the Jan. 18 & 19 "Gambler's Classic" Atlantic City Indoor races at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., featuring M&R Midgets (TQ Midgets and 600cc Micro-Sprints), Slingshots and Champ Karts.
