Little Lincoln Celebrates The Seasons Champions

Delmar, DE.....I had the privilege of attending the Little Lincoln Vintage Stockcar Club 2005 Banquet, Saturday night where Bill Brittingham of Viola, DE claimed his 3rd championship title with a tie in 2000 and one in 2001. Brittingham came away with 4 wins out of 8 races for points . Brittingham had a few words to express after receiving his trophy and pulling out some jotted notes. Brittingham went on to say, that the last few years we had a monkey on our back and it finally seemed to leave us this year and maybe haunted Donald Robinsons' team a little, smiling. But really, I have a lot of help and I want to thank them. My man, Tom Walker does it all, he keeps me straight. His Dad PJ (Paul) Walker, drove the number four and that was how I got my number when we started this 10 years ago. Dale Bounds, thank you, Steve & Gary Ellingsworth, and Rick Fryer sells 50/50's, my family, got Redbud over there, all my friends. We lost my father-in-law this year and I dedicated this championship to him. Gary Ellingsworth did the lettering for Brittingham and made a special mirror framed congratulating him on the Championship.
Starting 2006, the club will have to wear one way radio that other drivers have to wear, in all the other divisions run at Delaware International Speedway. Dale Bounds former Street Modified Champion driver, donated a radio to go to one of the drivers. Using the same method as drawing for line-up had Tony Daisey's lucky number pulled out, but, has a radio, so the next number was drawn and Richard Zack was awarded the radio. 2005 marked the 10th year of the running of the Little Lincoln Vintage Stockcar Club. All the drivers received awards and trophies with 17 positions filled. Door prizes were given as well, but the higher up in position a little bit better were the awards.
All drivers and positions were, Champion Bill Brittingham, Pat McNeal, Jim Kuhnert (Jim Miller owner), Tim Chambers, Brian Tracey & Duke Walsen both tied for 5th, Jamie Wagner 6th, but also the Rookie of the Year in the club, Jeff Karr, Matt Tipton, Donald Robinson, Jr. Ken Bachman, Richard Zack, Tony Daisey, Robbie Rowe, Albert Mitchell, David Givens, Jr., John Scott, Archie Tucker, and Bobby Williamson. Speaker of the night, Duke Walsen mentioned at the end of the awards, that one day they may want to try to schedule a couple races at other tracks in the future, and so something to think about. Congratulations to all of them!
If you have never seem the Little Lincoln race before take time to watch, they may only run 10 lap features, but well worth every lap. They totally take you back for a "Blast From The Past." The champ race in Nov. was one of the best of the weekend.
Speaking of "Blast From The Past", www.Redbud69racing.com is proud to announce for 2006 a new photogallery of only old photos from Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia tracks that once operated or still operate today. A few neighboring tracks photos may wander in from time to time or drivers from our area racing at other tracks near by. I have been requested the last couple of years about having a place for our early days of racing to have a place for fans to view, as in "Keeping The Old Alive." I am proud to announce this addition to the web page called Redbud's Classics. The gallery will be with smugmug.com and sponsored by Howard's Trains Shop. The web link is http://redbudsclassics.smugmug.com/index.mg?viewBy=Galleries or just visit www.Redbud69racing.com.
Redbud states, that this will be successful, and fun for all to see all the racing that went on in these states in the past. However, it will be a gallery where you, the fan, crew, or driver submit photos of your favorite race days. That covers a lot of area, but I think many will enjoy this gallery. Photos can be submitted by emails or snail mail, for more details visit the web or email at Redbud69racing@aol.com
Finally, the season will be here before we know it, so I hope to have bits and parts on drivers in DE throughout the season. I know Ricky Elliott will be leaving for winternationals in February. Will Richard Jarvis be a strong factor this season in Late Models? How will the new crate class that will run with Street Modifieds go? Who will go to that class or switch? All more to come! See you at the track!
