Delmar DE…..December 28, 2006…..Delaware Motorsports Complex has started getting ready for the New Year.  All three tracks to include the 1/2 clay oval speedway, ¼ mile dragway, and the oval clay kart track finished out the 2006 with a bang.  There was plenty of hot racing all season at each track.  And there’s just a very little bit of rest, before it starts all over again.  All of those that suffer from the same addiction as I, for that sound of cars, the smells, and reuniting with old friends will be just about ready for 2007 to get started.  The craving for the NEED FOR SPEED is underlying in all race fans, that’s part of the hype.  Racing has been going on for many, many years, but continues to grow with more fans all the time joining in.

Although, both the speedway and dragway still have to hold the banquets in January to crown all the 2006 champs.  There’s just a bit, of hot, hot, news for the 2007 season.  First the URC Sprints will be returning once a month with 7 dates on the URC schedule.  Even more scorching, hot, sizzling news is, the ½ mile clay oval is hosting the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on Thursday, May 31, 2007.  The first time the outlaws raced at DIS (Delaware International Speedway) a couple years back, they had some mighty fast speeds as well as, some of the top late model drivers in the U. S. powering around the dirt path.  It will be some great racing and you don’t want to miss out on this event.  More news will come forth at later time on tickets sales, and any other such news.

Next on the Delaware Sports Motorsports Complex will be the banquet award & dinner presentations.  The U. S. 13 Dragway will be on Saturday, January 20, 2007, held at the Dover Hotel & Casino, in Dover, DE.  Tickets are $35 each and on sale by contacting the track office at 302-875-1911.  Cocktails begin at 5:00 PM.

The Speedway will hold the 2006 Banquet Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Dover Hotel & Casino, in Dover, DE.  Tickets are $35 each and available at the tracks office by calling 302-875-1911.  Cocktails will begin at 5 PM as well.  For more information check out the tracks web site at www.Delawareracing.com.

The U. S. 13 Kart Club Track Banquet held their banquet Saturday, December 2, 2006, at the Laurel Fire Hall, Laurel, DE.  Congratulations to all the champs and drivers for an excellent year of racing.

The U. S. 13 Kart Club named the champions in the club with:

There are quite a few drivers making the move to one or another of the two AC Delco TSS crate classes, either in the modified style or late model fashion.  Jon Callaway, Billy Mellon, Erik & Kevin McKinney, Andrew Mullins, all came into the late model style near the ending of the season.  If either of those drivers have not raced more than five point races in 2006, that they will qualify to be a candidate for Redbud69racing.com Rookie of the Year, brought to you by AutoWorld of Delmar, DE.  There will be other new drivers when the season starts that switched form one class or another or even first timers.

Chad Clark, Eric Vent, is just a couple of drivers that will run a full schedule in 2007.  Jordon and Joseph Watson will too join in a fuller schedule and all in the modified type cars.   All of those drivers above use to race in micro sprints in the past along with others.

Dylan Evans will switch from karting to a Mod Lite Junior car, which is the same as the Mod Lites, only less power.  Quite a few drivers will be switching to different divisions too.  More information of other karters will follow as the time passes before the start of 2007.  The U. S. 13 Kart Club Track has a club meeting Friday, January 5, 2007, at 7 PM at the Millsboro VFW.

Once again, congratulations to all the champions and a great season of racing.    Don’t forget to send in a picture of your car, kart, drag, or whatever else you race to www.redbud69racing.com for a sneak preview of your car for the new season.  Contact me if you need to have your picture taken to post on the Redbud69racing.com web at redbud69racing@Aol.com  or phone 302-846-3621.  See you at the track!
