Delmar, DE ..Christmas just ended and the New Year is just days away. To race fans, 2008 racing is just around the corner. It really feels that the 2007 racing scene has just ended, but thats okay. The fans will be ready Im sure, but for all the behind the scene workers, photographers, tracks, crews, and drivers its a bit of a relief, just to regroup to get ready to do it all in 2008, to include the Winternationals coming the end of January, and going full steam in February in Florida.
The Delaware Motorsports Complex would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and thank you to all our sponsors, fans, and all that support our racing. The 2006 season went kind of fast, and there was a bit of controversy at times this year. But overall the season was great with racing at all three of the tracks; to the half-mile clay oval, the quarter- mile drag strip, and the US 13 Kart Club Track clay oval.
The Cathell family is already getting ready for the New Year working on the schedule. Its not a done deal yet with the track, but the famous World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoOLMS) has released their 2008 schedule. Delaware International Speedway is listed as holding a $10, 000 purse, a with 50 lap feature on Thursday, May 29, 2008. For more information on the WoOLMS visit the web at www.worldofoutlaws.com.
That is one fine night of racing. You have some of the best drivers in the Nation that race with the touring WoOLMS and travel to tracks to always put on an excellent night of action. Many of the DE drivers try to get a good qualifying time in order to make the race and run with the big, big dogs. Or it should say your DE big dogs run with the big, big dogs of the outlaws, like Donald, Lingo, Jr., David Hill, Kenny Pettyjohn, Ricky Elliott, and more. Either way, be sure to mark that date on your calendar for when it is officially a done deal and it is announced by the track and tickets go on sale for Delmars event.
The Cathell family has one more thing to officially finish getting the 2007 behind them. That is the Banquet for the U. S. 13 Dragway on Friday, February 1, 2008, and the speedway on Saturday, February 2, 2008. Both of the banquets, will be held at Dover Downs Hotel & Convention Center, Adults $35, Children $17.50. Tickets are available now by calling the office at 302-875-1911. For more information check out the tracks web site at www.Delawareracing.com or call the office.
