Track was heavy.  Ricky Johnson picked up first win for 2006.  Beau Wilkins was fast in heats and on the track last night.

Heats won by Robert Dutton and Jamie Mills.  Special Thanks to these guys for being a guest on RaceNite Live show hosted by Mark Potter, shows available on www.racetalklive.com.

Jamie has either won or finished in top 5 since the start of the season.

Heat 2 had 2005 DIS Rookie of the year Dale Hawkins taking a wild ride landing on the roof and end his night.  Ashame, but Hawkins and Tom Curtis are running on a very low budget and no back ups.  I was told the frame broke?  A consolation race was formed but not needed with all cars qualifying.

20 cars run in a feature.  2 heats taking 7 cars each and a consi taking 6 cars.

Richard Jarvis, Jr. was at DIS with a new Lazer alcohol run late model & finished 4th..

Rick Whaley was home at DIS too; & finished 3rd Rick has been going to Wayne Cty. and Clary's in N. Carolina.  David Hill only ran 11 laps, & I did not get to find out what happened.

Dale Lingo IV, was on the pole at the start, but Donald Lingo, Jr. took the lead right away.  At halfway it was Donald Lingo, Jr., K. Pettyjohn, Lou Johnson, Jarvis, Gary Simpson.  Jarvis was on the move and passes Johnson for 3rd on lap 12.

Lap 14 leaders battling with some lap traffic slowing both Lingo & Pettyjohn giving KP little advantage to get to the tail of Lingo.  Then a lap car Vic Thomas was trying to get to the inside out of the way for the leaders just as KP & Lingo are almost side by side for the lead out of turn 4.  Thomas came right down in front to them clearing Lingo but catching KP nose and ending his nite.

When the field reaches lap cars, drivers are contacted by radio communications of the officials, telling them the leaders are near you and go to the inside of the track to get out of the way.  I assume Vic did not know they were that close.  Bad deal but stuff happens.

Lingo leads Jarvis who took second on the restart followed by Johnson, Whaley, D. Pettyjohn.  Last 2 laps Jarvis is trying to reel in Lingo.  Last lap in turn 2 Jarvis goes wide and looses momentum on the crest of the turn with Johnson running to take 2nd and with Whaley in 3rd.  Jarvis collects and brought home in 4th.  Lingo was very strong last few weeks and took his first win for 2006.

Gary Simpson has continued to stay strong running in this class with 4 tops 5's.  Simpson last night had trouble not sure if in wreck or mechanical.

Jack Mullins, Jr. won for the second week in a row; Jack has had a few off nights so this helps a lot.  This class continues to grow with 25 for the feature.

Richie Walls, Sr. started on the point.  As the cars reached turn 2 Mark Byram in 2nd got around in front of remaining field, but luckily everyone pretty much miss him.  Andy Hammond was on the hook so he may have tagged Byram or fell victim with no place to go.

Tonight was "Double Entry" Night where a driver can pay $100 bucks to race in another class that night and if won receive an extra $500 buckaroos.  H. J. Bunting III competed in running Lance Mears TSS Mod to shake down the car and finished 13th.

Rookie Ryan Walls continues to be a front runner along with 2005 Defending DIS Champion Bobby Watkins.  George Richardson made his first appearance for the year.

Rookie Ross Robinson Masters Second TSS Late Model Win

1.  Ross Robinson*  # 7     Track Fast Lap:  22.178 Seconds and 81.162 MPH on lap 4

2.  Steve Bunting  # 19     2nd Track Fast Lap:  22.487 Seconds and 80.046 MPH on lap 9

3.  Daniel Freidler*  # 37

4.  Josh Hudson  # 1

5.  Hal Browning  # 46

Remaining Field Follows:

Kevin Scott, Jr.* 12K, Mike Michaelson 7D, Gus Economides 30, Joe Warren* 11, Mike Wilson 12, Charles Jarvis C45, Kelly Putz 59, Shane Sockriter* 32, Bobby Williamson 41, Eddie Williams 91, Gary Manos 72.

Top 5 Fastest Qualifying Times:

Joe Warren* 21.908 seconds and 82.162 MPH on lap 4

Mike Michaelson 22.098 seconds and 81.455 MPH on lap 4

Ross Robinson* 22.328 seconds and 80.616 MPH on lap 1

Hal Browning 22.336 seconds and 80.587 MPH on lap 2

Daniel Freidler 22.404 seconds and 80.343 MPH on lap 3

Just to clarify the DQ last week for Daniel Freidler winner, a wire for the MSD box slipped off and the car only turned 5400.  They are not allowed to be over 6000 but he was still dq.  Also, last week was the last night your car could have non-soldered wires without penalty.

On the start last weeks winner Mike Wilson almost reaches turn 1 and somehow hits the barrier wall pretty hard and on the hook.  The race restarted and Ross Robinson took the lead.  Ross picked up his 2nd win tonight.  This is his first year after coming from micros.

Gary Manos returned to DIS this year in a brand new TSS Late Model car looking really sharp.  However, in the feature Gary comes off turn 2 just as lap one starts, and heads right into the wall hard ending his night before he got started.  This gave Wilson a change to work on his car and return to the track just 2 laps down finishing 10th.

Lap 10 yellow waves as Michaelson got by Kelly Putz.  Putz had some front end damage and Mike Michaelson was trying to tell him with his hand.  Michaelson was sent to the pits for a consultation for rough riding, but explained what the gesture was for not to Putz.

Randy Hill, Jr. 23.030 seconds and 78.159 MPH on lap 3

Aaron Bada 23.036 seconds and 78.139 MPH on lap 4

Kirk Miles has really had a struggle this season.  The last 2 weeks he has been having an electrical problems and the car just shuts down.  Again, it happened just as the feature started ending his night.

Teammates Steve & Tim White started 7th & 8th and finished 1st & 2nd, continuing to be strong runners in this class.  Richie Wilson had another good finish in 6th.
