Norman Short, Jr. took a wild ride on the start.  As the cars came out of turn 4, (Short started in the 5th position) on to the straight away, has Short's car shoot across the track getting up in the air and hard roll over just short of the flag stand.  Short bit the inside of his month, and complained of pain in his side.  Short was not very happy after he rolled and got out of the car.  I did not get to talk to Short to ask what happened, did he have a little help, or something broke, not sure?  He was taken to the hospital to be checked out.  At the time of this writing, I had not received any updates on how he is doing.

Still no laps in on the restart.  This time before the lap was complete, Ricky Johnson got around in turn 3 and was on the hook.  Short and Johnson may have had contact on the start?  Neither were available for comment.  Third restart worked this time.  On lap 5 VanGorder got around in turn 4.

Points leader H. J. Bunting went in the pits during the caution on lap 5.  Contact with Johnson earlier?  Don't know.  Only 20 cars and good racing.  Couple invaders when quite a few tracks fell to Mother Nature.  Scott VanGorder, John Keller, and Scott Ambruster.  Keller was the driver that had a bad wreck during the 2005 champ show.  Keller said the car he brought tonight was actually the same car.

Richard Jarvis Jr. lost a motor while leading at half way through; he took the lead before lap 5.

Mark Williams lost a fuel pump belt on lap 13.

Only 13 Late Models Saturday night but some great racing action.  The top 5 finishers switched to front positions the working through the top 10 with really good battles going on with Hill, KP, Simpson, Jarvis, and Lingo.  Anthony Rushing struggled around half way and was around in turns 3 & 4, and took the car to the pits.  Hill had the lead after Jarvis broke, but Hill was fast and right on Jarvis's back.

Once out front, Hill was gone.  Lingo was gaining on Hill in the closing laps but Hill was flawless to the end.  I don't thing anyone could have got by Hill.  Hill has struggled this season with good luck or bad.  But after wrecking a few weeks back, Hill was determined to win, with such a hungry drive for that win since it was the first of the season.  For those that don't know, Hill usually has earned a bit of wins.  But it is as they always say, everything has to be synchronized too, in racing or for that night.  Driver right on and his/her skills, the car hooked up and handling, the track, adding that great factor of a little bit of luck all goes into racing.  Great race guys!!

Chris Hitchens 21.863 seconds and 82.331 MPH on lap 5

Ryan Walls 22.087 seconds and 81.496 MPH on lap 4

Joseph Tracy has having a super second year in the AC Delco TSS Modified class.  He has been knocking on the door each week all year, trying to get his first career win and got it to night.  Great job!

Tracy and Richie Walls, Sr. actually got hooked together on the start before the lap was completed, but got out from one another, funny part they were running 2nd & 3rd.  Laps 4 - 7 had Tracy and pole sitter Tommy Evans nip and tuck until lap 7 when Tracy took the lead.  Lap 9 had action for with Evans and Brad Trice battling for 2nd place.  Trice took the spot before he reached turn 3.  Lap 12 Evans and Ryan Walls fought for fifth.

From that point on, the feature really had a change in the racing with Grant Ireland and Jack Mullins, Jr. having a bit of a racing issue between.  The two made contact on a few occasions the latter of the race to the point that Mullins retaliated with frustration by ramming his car into the right rear of Ireland.  Ireland got up on two wheels (left front and rear side) and Mullins gave just one more little nudge and Ireland was over on the roof.  Mind you the two cars were barely moving when this took place, but it did enough damage both were out.  They looked like two monster trucks going over one another or rolling off the ramp onto one another.  I'd would not want to be in their shoes.
