For car owner Frank Davis, it was his first ever URC Owner Championship, taking the title in just his second year of competition with URC. The Michael/Davis Team, in their second season immediately became a title contender from the outset of the season. Competing in twenty-six URC events, the Michael/Davis Team delivered seventeen top five and twenty-three top ten finishes for a season long average of fifth.
Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ finished second in the URC point chase, falling short of the title by just one-hundred and four points. Dave McGough of Sassamansville, PA finished third in the URC point chase. McGough secured the ride in the Bill Gallagher URC sprint car and enjoyed a strong second half of the season.

Making up the top five was Kramer Williamson who drove the Tom Patterson sprint car. Williamson, who owns sixty-one URC victories, was winless this season but consistent finishes brought this team to a top five finish in points.
Other acknowledgements include an honorable mention to Brian Seidel (2000 URC Champion) and car owner Mike Bostic who were the winningest team of URC, scoring six feature victories in 2004. Tim Hogue driver of the Tastykake Team sprint car was named the Most Improved Driver of 2004. ZIMMERMAN & MILLER RETAIN POSITIONS IN URC, AMERICAN RACER RETURNS AS CLUB
TIRE FOR 2005
A group of approximately sixty URC members gathered at the Holiday Inn- Select, Bridgeport, NJ on Sunday afternoon for the URC Fall General Membership Meeting. Numerous topics were discussed including the URC financial report, Scheduling for 2005, Handicapping, Banquet, Yearbook, rule changes and the voting of URC Officers and Board of Directors.
Looking at the 2005 racing season, the United Racing Club is actively building their schedule for the coming season. The schedule should look very similar to the 2004 schedule with several special events possibly replacing regular shows. Handicapping was also discussed with the new officers and board to review options for the 2005 season. A popular decision was made for URC to institute transponders for scoring purposes in the new season as well as one way radios for the drivers. These two changes are to improve the efficency of the running of URC events.
Two car specification rule changes were voted upon and include: The maximum wheel diameter is 15 inches. The maximum right rear wheel width is 18 inches. The maximum left rear wheel width is 15 inches. The 360 engine displacement rule will now read. . . . 360 Cubic inches plus 1% maximum displacement.
The tire rule was also discussed and voted upon. For 2005 the American Racer Tire will be the official URC club tire for the coming season.
Elections of Officers took place with John Zimmerman (President), Bob Miller (First-Vice President), Gene Franconia (2nd Vice President), and Cher Zimmerman (Secretary/Treasurer) all retaining their positions un-contested. The 2005 Board of Directors will be Fran Hogue, Fred Kennedy, Bill Gallagher, Ken Eldreth, Pete Welsh and Pat Palladino. When needed, the alternate Board of Director will be Frank Davis.
URC is anticipating a huge turnout for their Annual Awards Banquet set for Saturday night, December 18 at the Hotel Sheraton-Dover, DE. CURT MICHAEL CLAIMS 2004 URC SPRINT SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP
Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE has officially clinched the 2004 Advance Auto Parts URC Sprint Series championship. For Michael, it is his second URC title, previously earning the championship honors in 1998. Twenty-nine race dates filled the season long point chase with Michael earning the championship by a mere one-hundred and four points over runner-up Kevin Welsh.
Early in the season, Michael established himself as a threat for the URC title, winning the New Egypt URC event on April 17. Michael, driving the Frank Davis owned sprint car scored his second win of the season at the Bridgeport Speedway on May 1 and followed with a victory at the Big Diamond Raceway on May 21. On July 10, the Michael/Davis Team won the URC feature at the Delaware International Speedway then scored an international victory by winning the URC feature at the Granby Speedway in Quebec, Canada. After twenty-nine race dates, Curt Michael won five of the regular season 25 lap feature events. On September 10, Curt was a winner of one of the three Sweet 16 preliminary events that take place during qualifying for the prestigious Bully Hill Vineyards Sprint Nationals at the Black Rock Speedway.
Curt was in the thick of the battle the entire season and his title is a success because of his consistency and swift ability to stay out of trouble on the race track. In the three mini-series of URC, Curt finished runner-up in all three. In the Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series, Kevin Welsh won the title with Curt Michael finishing second. The same story can be told for the Valley Forge INC Pennsylvania Sprint Series, where Michael finished second to Kevin Welsh once again.
In the Fred's Trailer Parts Center New Jersey State Sprint Series, it was Sean Michael (brother to Curt) who won the series title with Curt Michael finishing a strong second and just two points shy of the title.
The twenty-three time URC feature winner Curt Michael, will be honored at the Annual URC Awards Banquet to take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Dover, DE on Saturday night, December 18.
One race still remains on the URC tour of 2004. On Saturday night, October 16 the URC sprints will be part of the Grandview THUNDER 5-25's features only program. This is a non-point race and will also include the Fred's Trailer Parts/Valley Forge INC URC Non-Winners feature. Pits open at 2:30 PM with the first feature taking the green flag at 6 PM.

Sprint Shoot Out at the Wheels Attracts
Fifty-eight Sprint Cars. . . . .
TREVOR LEWIS POCKETS $3,000 AT ROLLING
WHEELS IN SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY
ELBRIDGE, NY SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2004 . . . . . Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA was the class of the field on Saturday night at the Rolling Wheels Raceway, winning the twenty-five lap Sprint Shoot Out at the Wheels, a co-sanctioned event between URC and ESS. For Lewis, it was his eighth career URC victory and second win of the season since moving into the Bill Turpin/Fred Kennedy owned sprint car. In early September, Lewis also won the prestigious Bully Hill Nationals at the Black Rock Speedway.
A big crowd was on hand as the show opened with the first of six qualifying heat races. Kevin Welsh, Rick Wilson, Brian Howland, Trevor Lewis, Jon Eldreth and Bobby Podulak were heat race winners. Three "C Main" events were required with victories going to Scott Pursell, Tim Kelly and Bobby Breen. In the "B" Main, Kyle Wilson rallied home the winner.
An added event was the Walts Hobby Dash, a four lap run for the money between the six heat race winners. Bobby Podulak was the winner over Rick Wilson, Kevin Welsh, Brian Howland, Trevor Lewis and Jon Eldreth. The entire racing program was completed by 10:05 PM.
With three provisional starters (from ESS, URC and PSG-Patriot Sprint Group) the starting field was expanded to twenty-seven sprint cars all chasing this very rich purse that paid $3,000 to the winner, $700 for fifth, $400 for tenth and a hefty $250 just to start the twenty-lap feature. Every non-qualifier that attempted to qualify earned $100 in tow money.
At the start of the Sprint Challenge at the Wheels, Jon Eldreth was the early race leader followed by Dave Ely and Tim Hogue. As the field completed lap two, the first caution of the race was displayed for a tangle between Sean Michael and Josh Weller on the homestretch. Both cars sustained damage, keeping them from continuing in the event. On the restart, Eldreth again set the pace as Trevor Lewis passed Hogue and moved into third. Another yellow was displayed on lap four when Kyle Purks stopped in turn three.
When green flag racing resumed, Eldreth was the leader with Trevor Lewis passing Ely for second. Eldreth did a masterful job of holding off Lewis, until lap eight was the Turpin/Kennedy sprint car powered past Eldreth with a commanding outside move.
With Lewis the new leader, Eldreth followed in second with Dave Ely third, Tim Hogue fourth and Lance Yonge fifth. The leader ran to hide from the rest of the field and by lap twelve, Lewis was now in lapped traffic. As the field crossed the line at halfway, the top five remained unchanged. The final caution of the race was on lap thirteen when Scott Pursell stopped in turn four.
Lewis was on the point with just two lapped cars between the leader and runner-up Jon Eldreth. When the green fell, Lewis took off like a bullet and quickly established a commanding lead. One driver on the move was Kramer Williamson. Qualifying through the consolation, Williamson started deep in the pack and was racing in the top five by lap sixteen. On the white flag lap, Williamson caught Lance Yonge and made the pass to take the fourth position. The race was just not long enough for Williamson to challenge the top three.
At the checker flag, Lewis had the field covered to pocket the $3,000 payday as Jon Eldreth finished a well deserved second. Dave Ely was third with Kramer Williamson fourth and Tim Hogue fifth. Making up the top ten were Lance Yonge, Midge Miller, Dave McGough, Pete Green and Curt Shuttlewarth.

URC/ESS SPRINT CHALLENGE AT THE WHEELS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9
A lucrative payoff is on the line for the 11th Annual URC/ESS Sprint Challenge at the Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, NY on Saturday night, October 9. A pay check of $3,000 will go to the winner of the 25 lap feature and a banner field of more then fifty sprint cars are expected to attempt to qualify for the twenty-four feature starting positions. This event offers a well balanced purse with fifth paying $700, tenth will earn $400 and a hefty $250 will be paid just to take the green flag in the main event. All non-qualifiers will receive a minimum of $100. A new and different format will be used for qualifying which is expected to attract an even larger field of cars then in years past.
An open draw will be used to determine the starting line-ups in the planned six heat race events. The top two finishers from each heat will advance to the feature and draw for the top twelve starting positions in the main event. The third place finisher in the heats is qualified as well and they'll start straight-up behind the top twelve. The balance of the field will compete in a series of "C" Main events, leading up to the 12 lap "B" Main with six cars advancing to the 25 lap Sprint Challenge at the Wheels.
The top 360 sprint car drivers in the Northeast are expected to turn out for this one and naturally, the roster includes the best of URC. Hot off a dominating victory in the $3,000 to win Delaware Thunder show, Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ would like nothing more then a back-to-back $3,000 triumph. Dave Ely of West Lawn, PA was the winner at the Mercer Raceway Park "Great Race" and he is a pre-entry for the Wheels. Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA pocketed the big bucks in the Bully Hill Nationals at the Black Rock Speedway and he'll have the Turpin/Kennedy sprinter in the hunt for sure. URC point leader Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE and brother Sean Michael of Allentown, PA (third in URC points) are a threat to win any event and the rich payoff will only peak their level of competition.
Other URC entries include Pete Green, the defending winner of the Sprint Challenge at the Wheels along with three time winner of this event, Kramer Williamson. Dave McGough, Tim Hogue and Jason Clauss, are enjoying one of their best seasons ever and they'll be shooting for the win as well.
The New York based ESS and PSG sprint organizations will also be well represented. The (PSG) Patriot Sprint Group will find George Suprick in their corner along with Kyle Drum, Rick Wilson, George Ely, Dave Wickham, Chuck Hebing and Bill Bailey. For the (ESS) Empire Super Sprints, 2004 Champion Lance Yonge of Penn Yan, NY ranks number one on their list, followed closely by Dan Kaszubinski, Doug Emery, Jeff VanDusen, Bubby Kerrick, John Karklin Jr. and Justin Barger to name a few.
Also on the entry list is Western PA driver Scott Bonnell. In 2003, Bonnell was the winner of the Bully Hill Vineyards Sprint Championship at the Black Rock Speedway.
This event will be the tie breaker! Since the beginning of the URC/ESS Sprint Challenge at the Wheels back on September 24, 1994, the event saw ESS claim five victories with URC taking five wins as well. As we gear up for the 11th Annual running of this event, the tie will be broken, or possibly, a PSG driver could pull off the upset?
A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 5 PM. Drivers must be present at the meeting to be eligible for the draw. Race time is 6 PM.

TAYLOR & MESSICK PRESENT URC
DELAWARE THUNDER. . . . . . .
KEVIN WELSH WAS FAST, FAST,
FAST TO COLLECT $3,000 IN SATURDAY WIN AT DELAWARE INTL'
DELMAR, DE SEPTEMBER 25, 2004 . . . . . The first Annual Taylor & Messick URC DELAWARE THUNDER saw Far Hills, NJ driver Kevin Welsh top a strong field to score his fifth win of the season and pocket the $3,000 winners share in the 30 lap URC championship event. Welsh, driving the Mopar powered Team Welsh sprint car, started on the pole of the Advance Auto Parts/BAR's Leaks Sprint Series feature and led the entire distance to convincingly score the win. To say it simply, Welsh was Fast, Fast, Fast in scoring his eighth career URC win. Time trials were used to determine the top sixteen starters in the feature event. Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA set fast time 16.905/106.477mph and collected $250 for his efforts. Fast time money was posted by Taylor & Messick and C&B Mushrooms.
Bob Mermuys, President of BAR's Leaks was present for the first Annual Delaware THUNDER and greeted victor Kevin Welsh in victory lane. Taylor & Messick was the principal sponsor of the event that was co-sponsored by Pro-Fab/Walt Breeding. This show was a point race for the season long Advance Auto Parts/BAR's Leaks URC Sprint Series. Just two URC race dates remain on the 2004 schedule of events.
Following time trials, two Last Chance DASH events were presented to determine the remaining starting position for the 30 lap Championship main event. Ashley Parlett won the first Dash over Kyle Purks, Matt Gerber and Dave Ely. In the second DASH, Midge Miller took the victory over Pete Green, Tim Hogue and Bill Brian Jr.
A field of twenty-five URC sprint cars took part in the 30 lap Delaware THUNDER Sprint Championship. By luck of an inversion draw, Kevin Welsh and Becca Anderson sat on the front row. At the drop of the green flag, Welsh was off like a rocket as Kramer Williamson followed in the runner-up spot with Anderson in third.
The first caution of the race was displayed on lap three when Johnny Zimmerman spun in turn three. One lap later, Jason Clauss and Josh Weller tangled in turn four to display the caution once again. When green flag racing resumed, Welsh remained the master of the field and the show quickly turned into a race for second between Williamson, Anderson and Dave McGough. The Michael Brothers were on the move as Sean and Curt put on a great display of side-by-side racing. Sean was the first to crack the top five, racing in fifth on lap five.
At the halfway point, the top five was Welsh and Williamson still racing first and second with Dave McGough now third with Becca Anderson and Sean Michael making up the top five. Current URC point leader Curt Michael was racing in sixth and still battling brother Sean for the fifth spot.
On lap eighteen, Dave McGough moved the Valley Forge INC sprinter into second as Williamson drifted high in turn two, dropping to the fifth position. Mechanical problems were haunting the Williamson sprinter and the caution was displayed on lap twenty-two as Williamson slowed when attempting to exit the speedway.
The restart saw Sean Michael bolt under Becca Anderson and Dave McGough to take over the runner-up spot. The BK Leasing #99 with Sean at the wheel now had his shot to track down Welsh. Curt Michael was also on a charge now racing in third and still battling his brother, but now for the runner-up spot.
Suddenly, Kenny Adams of Malibar, FL was in the hunt, passing Dave McGough and Curt Michael, now racing in third on lap twenty-six. Adams was closing in to challenge Sean Michael for second when the yellow was displayed for Tim Hogue who stopped on the homestretch. Under the yellow flag, Curt Michael had the mis-fortune of a right rear flat tire that sent him to the pits. Michael was unable to return for the final two laps.
With a two lap dash to the huge $3,000 check, Welsh punch the throttle and ran to hide from the rest of the field. Sean Michael was hoping to take a run at Welsh, but he now had to contend with Kenny Adams who was looking for a groove to make the pass for second.
As the checker flag fell, Kevin Welsh darted under the wire in one of the most dominating URC victories of the season. Sean Michael was second holding off a strong challenge from Kenny Adams. Dave McGough was fourth and Becca Anderson (driving the Turpin/Kennedy #56) finished fifth.
The top 16 from Time Trials: Trevor Lewis, Kramer Williamson, Becca Anderson, Kevin Welsh, Sean Michael, Dave McGough, Curt Michael, Randy West, Chris Coyle, Jason Clauss, Kenny Adams, Jon Eldreth, Brian Seidel, Scott Pursell, Ed Aikin, Josh Weller.
FEATURE FINISH: Kevin Welsh, Sean Michael, Kenny Adams, Dave McGough, Becca Anderson, Chris Coyle, Kyle Purks, Randy West, Scott Pursell, Trevor Lewis, Dave Ely, Midge Miller, Ashley Parlett, Bill Brian Jr., Jon Eldreth, Matt Gerber, Curt Michael, Tim Hogue, Ed Aikin, Brian Seidel, Kramer Williamson, Pete Green, Josh Weller, Johnny Zimmerman, Jason Clauss. Taylor & Messick Present. . . .
INVADERS KENNY ADAMS & BECCA ANDERSON EYE $3,000 URC DELAWARE THUNDER PAYOFF
SATURDAY
With $3,000 on the line to win the Taylor & Messick DELAWARE THUNDER Eastern Shore Sprint Championship, two exciting drivers are planning to be in the mix when the United Racing Club returns to the Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night, September 25. Kenny Adams of Malibar, FL and local favorite Becca Anderson of Houston, DE have pre-entered the URC sanctioned thirty lap Championship event. Sponsorship support for this event is provided by Taylor & Messick of Harrington, DE and Pro-Fabrication of Milford, DE.
Kenny Adams made a surprise visit to URC in May and came home the winner of the twenty-five lap feature event at the Bridgeport Speedway. Adams is no stranger to URC as he owns a total of four career victories.
Becca Anderson is without a doubt, the Delaware State home town favorite and she'll be returning to URC action for this special season end major event. Anderson is an eight time feature winner under the URC banner and she'll be driving the powerful Turpin/Kennedy #56.
Both Adams and Anderson will add just the right spice to this event that will feature qualifying through time trials plus two Last Chance Dash Qualifiers. Lewis set fast time in qualifying on Friday night and continued to accumulate points through the qualifying process to earn the pole position in the championship feature event. Lewis was dialed to perfection as he immediately ran to hide from the rest of the field. In the runner-up spot was Lance Yonge as Kevin Welsh followed in third. Sean Michael in the BK Leasing sprint car was on the move, racing in the top five by lap three.
The first caution of the race was displayed on lap ten when Josh Weller came to a stop in turn three. On the restart, Lewis was once again the fastest car at the drop of the green flag. One more lap was completed before the next caution was display on lap eleven for Tim Hogue, Kramer Williamson, Bill Bailey and Mal Lane who tangled and spun in turn three.
Lewis was off the line first and fast when green flag racing resumed with Yonge, Welsh, Michael and Bryan Howland in the chase. On lap sixteen, Welsh moved into second with Yonge third and Sean Michael now in fourth. Dave McGough was enjoying a great ride, running in fifth on lap nineteen.. A great ride for McGough came to an end when he hit a rough spot in the track, flipping in turn three on lap twenty-five. McGough did walk away uninjured.
This restart provided still another shot for both Kevin Welsh and Sean Michael to mount a challenge for the lead, but when the green was displayed, Lewis took off like a rocket, leaving Welsh and Michael continue their chase. In the closing laps, Curt Michael was on a charge, racing in fifth and staging a serious challenge against Lance Yonge. KEVIN WELSH DOMINATES URC RUN FRIDAY
NIGHT AT WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY
Mechanicsburg, PA August 27, 2004 . . . . . Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ was the dominant force within URC on Friday night at the Williams Grove Speedway. Welsh was the best of a field of thirty-four URC sprints competing in the twenty-four race of the Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series sponsored by BAR's Leaks. Welsh led wire-to-wire, to score his fourth URC win of the season and his seventh career victory. This event was also a point race on URC's Valley Forge INC Pennsylvania Sprint Series.
Three URC heat race events were presented with victories going to Welsh, Tim Hogue in the Tastykake sprint car and Randy West driving the Elmer Stoltzfus owned sprinter. The "B" main event was won by current URC point leader Curt Michael.
A field of twenty-four URC sprint cars answered the call for the twenty-five lap feature event. Welsh gunned to an early lead followed by Jason Clauss and Josh Weller. As the field completed lap two, Scott Pursell flipped in turn four, collecting Kramer Williamson who also took a tumble. All drivers walked away uninjured. On the restart, Welsh remained the pace setter and appeared to be getting faster with every lap.
Deeper in the pack, all eyes were on Dave Ely in the JMO sprinter as he moved into second and set his sights on the leader. Clauss, Randy West and Trevor Lewis were close and in the hunt. As the field crossed for the half way mark, Welsh, Ely, West, Clauss and Lewis made up the top five.
Also on the move was Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE. After running the consolation, Michael was advancing his way through the field, running in fifth on lap seventeen. One lap later, Michael passed Clauss and moved into fourth.
At the front of the pack, Welsh was checked-out and really no where to be found with Dave Ely pulling out every trick to find the leader. Curt Michael was still on a charge along with brother Sean.
With five laps remaining Curt Michael
remained in fourth and chasing Randy West for the third position.
Meanwhile, at the head of the pack, Kevin Welsh continued to set the pace with
Ely closing slightly. As the checker flag was waiving, Kevin Welsh took the
win for his fourth victory of the season. Ely finished an impressive second
for his first race back following an injury at the Bridgeport Speedway on June
29. Randy West finished third with Curt Michael fourth and Sean Michael
fifth.
FEATURE FINISH: Kevin Welsh, Dave Ely, Randy West, Curt Michael, Sean Michael, Trevor Lewis, Lenny Thompson, Jason Clauss, Chris Coyle, Brian Seidel, Dave McGough, Jon Eldreth, Midge Miller, Gary Gollub, Danny Massey, Justin Collett, Ashley Parlett, Mares Stellfox, Brooke Bowman, Tim Hogue, Junior Martin, Josh Weller, Scott Pursell and Kramer Williamson. DNQ - - Mike Kostic, Travis Quinn, Jeff Foote, Matt Gerber, Pete Green, Kyle Purks, Joe Zuczek, JJ Grasso, Bill Brian Jr, Cliff Brian.
Notes: Kevin Welsh was very impressive winning his seventh career victory with URC. Brook Bowman turned in a great ride, qualifying for his first URC sprint feature event. Dave Ely made two strong attempts to take the lead from Welsh, but each time, the TEAM Welsh sprinter was up to the call. Lightening Lenny Thompson ran a thriller, finishign7th in the main event.
URC will be in action on Saturday night, August 28 at the Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, DE. Race time is 7 PM. END

CURT MICHAEL SCORE FOURTH URC WIN OF 2004 SATURDAY AT DELAWARE INTL
DELMAR, DE JULY 10, 2004 . . . . . . Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE topped a field of twenty-five sprint cars to win the twenty-five lap Advance Auto Parts URC Sprint Series feature event on Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway. Michael took the lead at the halfway point from Scott Pursell then ran uncontested to score his fourth win of the season and twenty-second career win with the United Racing Club. This event marked the fourth race of the Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series.
The three heat race events were won by Gary Gollub, Ashley Parlett and Brian Seidel. During the running of the second heat race, Randy West and Jon Eldreth tangled in turn one, with West violently flipping the Elmer Stoltzfus sprint car. West did walk away uninjured, however the Stoltzfus sprint car had extensive damage.
In the twenty-five lap feature event, Scott Pursell was the early race leader, setting the pace for the first three circuits with Chris Coyle and Kramer Williamson in the chase. Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ appeared to be one the fastest cars on the track and was powering his way to the top five when potential engine problems brought his sprint car to a stop in turn three, displaying the yellow flag on lap four.
On the next restart, Pursell again set the pace followed by Williamson and Coyle. As the field completed lap five, Cliff Brian stopped on the speedway to display another yellow flag. The lap counter clicked off another lap with Pursell as the leader but the yellow was again waiving, this time for Tim Hogue who spun in turn three.
It was back to racing on lap seven as Pursell remained on top with Williamson and Coyle now in a fight for the runner-up spot. By lap ten, Curt Michael was in third and now tracking down Williamson for the runner-up spot.
The battle for the lead tightened and on lap twelve, Michael moved into second with Williamson third and Sean Michael fourth. As the field completed the halfway point of the race, the Michael Brothers were racing first and second with Williamson third and Brian Seidel now closing in on the front runners and racing in fourth.
Once on top, Curt Michael had a pretty easy run as Sean Michael still had to battle off the challenges of the crafty former champion Kramer Williamson. Brian Seidel had his great ride come to an end one lap short of the finish, pulling to the infield with mechanical problems on the final lap. With the checker flag waiving, Curt and Sean Michael finished one and two with Kramer Williamson, Chris Coyle and Scott Pursell making up the top five.
FEATURE FINISH: Curt Michael, Sean Michael, Kramer Williamson, Chris Coyle, Scott Pursell, Bill Brian Jr., Ashley Parlett, Gary Gollub, Trevor Lewis, Jimmy Stitzel, Jason Clauss, Tim Hogue, Jon Eldreth, Kyle Purks, Mike Kostic, Mike Storer, Brian Seidel, Junior Martin, Cliff Brian, Justin Collett, Josh Weller, Kevin Weller. Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint
Series Presents Third Event. . . .
BRIAN SEIDEL SCORES THIRD WIN OF URC
SEASON SATURDAY AT DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL
DELMAR, DE JUNE 26, 2004 . . . . . Brian Seidel of Allentown, PA fought a hard battle with early race leader Tim Hogue and took the lead with just three laps remaining to win the twenty-five lap URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series feature event Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway. This event also marked the third race of the Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series. For Seidel, driver of the Mike Bostic sprint car, it was his third win of the season and fourteenth career URC victory.
The URC feature event was one of the best this season. Dave McGough of Sassamansville, PA was the race leader for the first three circuits with the yellow being displayed on lap four when Trevor Lewis and JJ Grasso tangled in turn one. Lewis was driving the Turpin/Kennedy #56. The restart saw McGough again set the pace but this time Timmy Hogue and his Tastykake sponsored sprint car were on the hunt.
When the field passed to complete lap five, Hogue was the pace setter with McGough second and a fast closing Brian Seidel in third. Hogue ran to hide from the rest of the field leaving runner-up Dave McGough to hold off the challenges of Brian Seidel and Jason Clauss. On lap six, Bill Brian Jr. hit the backstretch wall while running in the top five. The Brian sprinter sustained enough damage to eliminate him from competition for the rest of the night.
At the halfway mark, Hogue, McGough, Seidel, Clauss and Sean Michael were now in the top five. Seidel was in a heated battle with McGough, then on lap sixteen he moved into second. It was obvious that Seidel was now in the hunt to chase down the leader.
The third and final caution of the event took place on lap eighteen when Ed Aikin spun in turn two. On the restart, Hogue remained the pace setter, now being chased by a determined Brian Seidel with McGough in third. Seidel stayed to the bottom of the speedway surface as Hogue was rim-riding on the outside groove.
With just five laps remaining, Hogue continued to set the pace with Seidel on the bottom of the speedway. As the field charged into turn two on lap twenty-three, Hogue drifted high, opening the door for Seidel to take the lead. Seidel and Hogue ran side-by-side until Seidel completed the pass to become the new leader. Plenty of racing was going on elsewhere in field with Sean and Curt Michael attempting to break the top five. All eyes were on Jason Clauss as he battled Dave McGough and eventually taking third from Dave McGough. For the final three laps, Seidel stretched out a comfortable lead and came home the winner of the twenty-five lap thriller.
Following Seidel to the winner's circle was Tim Hogue who scored his first career URC win on May 28 at the Penn Can Speedway as Jason Clauss, Dave McGough and Kevin Welsh made-up the top five.
A field of twenty-eight URC sprint cars took part in three heat race events with victories go to Jimmy Stitzel, Kramer Williamson and Ashley Parlett. The twelve lap "B" saw Jon Endreth take the victory. Some driver changes found Trevor Lewis behind the wheel of the Turpin/Kennedy sprinter as Chris Coyle drove the Lou Eckrich #54 with Glendon Forsythe in the Bill Gallagher 5g.
The victory for Seidel also earned him a spot in the Beam Mack/Western Snow Plow All Star Dash Qualifier on October 10 at the Black Rock Speedway.
FEATURE FINISH: Brian Seidel, Tim Hogue, Jason Clauss, Dave McGough, Kevin Welsh, Curt Michael, Sean Michael, Kramer Williamson, Dave Ely, Jon Eldreth, Scott Pursell, Randy West, Danny Massey, Glendon Forsythe (#5g), Jimmy Stitzel, Chris Coyle (#54), Cliff Brian, Josh Weller, Ed Aikin, Mike Kostic, Ashley Parlett, Justin Collett, Bill Brian Jr., Trevor Lewis (#56), JJ Grasso. DNQ- - Junior Martin, Mike Stoer, Kyle Purks.

KEVIN WELSH WINS SECOND CONSECUTIVE
VALLEY FORGE PA SPRINT SERIES EVENT
ABBOTSTOWN, PA JUNE 19, 2004 . . . . Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ has a liking for the state of Pennsylvania and he proved that once again by winning the 25 lap URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series at the Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night. Welsh now has three URC wins this season taking the checker flag at Grandview last Saturday night followed by his win at Lincoln. With URC going to Delaware International Speedway next Saturday night, Team Welsh will be looking to make it three in a row. Welsh is currently ranked second in the URC season long point chase and has closed the gap on point leader Curt Michael.
A field of twenty-nine URC sprint cars competed in three heat race events with victories going to Justin Collett, JJ Grasso and Jon Eldreth as Sean Michael won the twelve lap "B" Main.
In the twenty-five lap URC sprint feature, Kevin Welsh earned the pole as a result of an inversion draw that moved him to the front row. Before lap one could be completed, Josh Weller spun in turn one collecting Gary Gollub who made hard contact with the retaining wall and flipped. Gollub did walk away uninjured.
On the restart, Welsh was the fastest car on the track and immediately set the pace with Jon Eldreth racing in third. Top point chasers Dave Ely and Curt Michael were slicing their way through traffic along with consolation winner Sean Michael. A new entry in the field was popular 410 sprint driver Kenny Jacobs who was behind the wheel of the Valley Forge Inc 5G.
The second caution of the race was displayed for Ed Aikin who spun in turn two. On the restart, Welsh was the leader but was now followed by Dave Ely, Jon Eldreth and Curt Michael As the laps ticked away, Ely and Eldreth traded off the runner-up spot but Eldreth took solid control on lap seventeen.
Another driver on a charge was Randy West who moved into third on lap nineteen and appeared to be a challenger for the win. The perfect story came to an end on lap twenty-one for West after he tapped the turn two wall and stopped with a flat tire. West did retire to the pits after turning in his best ride of the season.
The restart saw Welsh remain in control of the field with Eldreth, Ely, Kenny Jacobs and Curt Michael making-up the top five. For the final five laps, Welsh had the race well in hand as all eyes watched Kenny Jacobs chase down Dave Ely. Curt Michael also had his hands full as Kramer Williamson was chasing down a top five finish in the Tom Patterson owned sprint car.
At the drop of the checker flag, Welsh was all alone to score his sixth career URC win with Eldreth finishing second followed by Dave Ely, Kenny Jacobs and Curt Michael.
FEATURE FINISH: Kevin Welsh, Jon Eldreth, Dave Ely, Kenny Jacobs (driving the Valley Forge Inc 5G), Curt Michael, Kramer Williamson, Sean Michael, Cliff Brian, Brian Seidel, Justin Collett, Billy Brian Jr., JJ Grasso, Jason Clauss, Kyle Purks, Pete Green, Tim Hogue, Dave McGough, Danny Massey, Scott Pursell, Josh Weller, Ashley Parlett, Randy West, Jimmy Stitzle, Ed Aikin, Gary Gollub. KEVIN WELSH WINS WILD URC FEATURE
SATURDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
LANGHORNE, PA JUNE 12, 2004 . . . . . Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ managed to be in the right place at the time throughout the twenty-five lap URC feature Saturday night at the Grandview Speedway. Welsh avoided numerous crashes and positioned himself in second with just three laps remaining. Using the outside groove, Welsh passed race leader Ed Aikin on the white flag lap and went on to win the Advance Auto Parts URC main event. For Welsh, it was his second win of the season and fifth career URC win in the eleventh race of the season and third event of the Valley Forge Inc. Pennsylvania Sprint Series.
Barry Barrell of Shoemakersville, PA was honored by URC on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. Barrell is a long time URC official, well know for driving the bright yellow URC Push Jeep. A huge turnout attended the pitside post race party where Barrell was honored for his many efforts. Barry is currently battling an illness which is expected to limit his participation with URC this season.
The feature race was not a typical URC event. At the start of the twenty-five lap feature, Jason Clauss, Bill Brian Jr and Cliff Brian tangled going down the backstretch. Clauss and Brian Jr both flipped as Cliff Brian spun to avoid. All drivers walked away uninjured. The restart saw Ed Aikin and Kramer Williamson make contact in almost the exact same spot as the previous mishap. The end results were far more severe. Aikin managed to keep his sprinter going but Williamson spun after making contact with the backstretch wall with the car crossing the speedway in front of a charging field of traffic. In total, fifteen sprints cars were collected in crash including Randy West, Scott Pursell, Brian Seidel, Mike Haggenbottom, Justin Collett and Pete Green.
After a long red flag, the URC feature again saw the green flag to officially start the main event. Ed Aikin led the first lap with Dave Ely in the chase along with Josh Weller and Dave McGough. Not too far behind McGough was point leader Curt Michael who ran the consolation and was already in fifth on lap two.
Aikin had his hands full as Ely worked the outside lane, making numerous attempts to take the lead. Aikin was up to every challenge and remained the pace setter. On several occasions, Ely did nose into the lead, but Aikin fought back to regain the top spot.
At the halfway point of the feature event, the Aikin and Ely battle continued, but now Curt Michael was in third followed by Josh Weller and Dave McGough. On lap seventeen, Ely took the lead entering turn three and moments after, the yellow flag was displayed for Sean Michael who spun on the homestretch after contact with another car.
Ely was now the pace setter at the drop of the green with Curt Michael passing Aikin for the second spot. Michael began to reel in Ely and with four laps remaining it was a two car race for the lead. On lap twenty-two, Ely was on the inside with Michael working the outside lane when the two cars made contact going down the backstretch. Ely and Michael both spun while entering turn three and the yellow flag was displayed with Ed Aikin regaining the lead position once again. Ely and Michael both had extensive damage to their sprint cars and retired to the pit area.
With three laps remaining, Aikin had another chance to win the feature but Kevin Welsh was now in the runner-up spot. Welsh, who started twenty-third made his move on the outside to take the lead as the field passed for the white flag. Welsh remained the leader for the final lap to take the win over Ed Aikin, Josh Weller, Dave McGough and Sean Michael who delivered a top five finish after going to the rear on lap sixteen.
Thirty URC sprints took part in the program with heat race victories going to Pete Green (driving the second Kennedy/Turpin #56), Bill Brian Jr and Josh Weller as Tim Hogue won the twelve lap "B" Main.
FEATURE FINISH: Kevin Welsh, Ed Aikin, Josh Weller, Dave McGough, Sean Michael, Matt Gerber, Jon Eldreth, Chris Coyle, Gary Gollub, Tim Hogue, Cliff Brian, Mike Kostic, Ashley Parlett, Dave Ely, Curt Michael, Justin Collett, Pete Green, Kramer Williamson, Mike Haggenbottom, Randy West, Brian Seidel, Junior Martin, Scott Pursell, Bill Brian Jr., Jason Clauss. BRIAN SEIDEL MASTERS FONDA SPEEDWAY, SCORES SECOND URC WIN OF 2004
FONDA, NY MAY 29, 2004 . . . . . Brian Seidel of Allentown, PA has been enjoying a great 2004 season with the Advance Auto Parts URC Sprint Series and the year just got better after he parked the Mike Bostic sprint car in victory lane on Saturday night at the Fonda Speedway. For Seidel, it was his second win of the URC season and the thirteenth career win for the 2000 URC Champion. Seidel took the lead of the twenty-five lap feature on lap eight and ran unchallenged to the victory.
An absolute packed house filled the Fonda grandstand for this annual Memorial Day Weekend visit by URC. A field of twenty-seven sprint cars took part in the program with heat race victories going to Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA, Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ and Pete Green of Weissport, PA. The "B" main winner was Scott Pursell of Frenchtown, NJ.
Twenty-four URC sprint cars started the feature event with Ed Aikin setting the pace for the first two circuits. On lap three, Pete Green powered to the front of the pack and held off the challenges of Aikin and fast improving Josh Weller. By lap five, Brian Seidel was racing in fourth as Cliff Brian followed in the top five.
Seidel was on a mission and charging to the front. By lap seven, Seidel was second and just one lap later, he made the move for the lead, passing Green for the top spot. Green settled into the second spot as Weller, Cliff Brian and Ed Aikin followed in the top five.
At the halfway point, Seidel had a comfortable lead and left the field behind to battle for second. Green, Weller and Cliff Brian remained in the top five but they now had company. Point Leader and former URC champion Curt Michael was now in the hunt.
The first caution of the race was displayed on lap fifteen when Josh Weller spun in turn four. Weller was running a very impressive third at this point. At the restart, there was still no match for Seidel and he ran to hide from the rest of the field.
With five laps remaining, the guy who just never gives up, Curt Michael was still advancing and now running in third. And still another special guest joined the top five as Kevin Welsh was finding the fast groove around Fonda.
On lap twenty-two, the yellow flag was displayed for Josh Weller who spun in turn two. Weller retired to the pits and did not restart for the final three laps.
A three lap shoot out to the wire was now the treat for the fans and as the green flag fell, Seidel again took off like a flash. For the final three circuits, Seidel remained in command and went on to score the victory. Pete Green finished second followed by Curt Michael, Cliff Brian and Kevin Welsh.
FEATURE FINISH: Brian Seidel, Pete Green, Curt Michael, Cliff Brian, Kevin Welsh, Sean Michael, Dave Ely, Dave McGough, Ed Aikin, Kramer Williamson, Bill Brian Jr., Mike Haggenbottom, Tim Hogue, Chris Coyle, Randy West, Dave Gable, Jason Clauss, Scott Pursell, Mike Kostic, Warren Alexson, Junior Martin, Mike Stoer, Josh Weller, Justin Collett. VALLEY FORGE PA SPRINT SERIES Continues.
. . . . . .
TIM HOGUE SURVIVES ALL OBSTACLES TO
SCORE URC CAREER FIRST WIN AT PENN CAN
SUSQUEHANNA, PA MAY 28, 2004 . . . . . Second generation URC sprint car driver Tim Hogue of Medford, NJ was in the spotlight of a joyous victory lane ceremony after winning his first career URC victory on Friday night at the Penn Can Speedway. Hogue led the entire twenty-five distance but the win was far from easy as numerous yellow flags, challenging track conditions and a determined Dave McGough never provided even a moment to rest. Tim Hogue is the son of Fran Hogue, a dedicated long time supporter and driver of URC. Fran is an eight time URC feature winner and enjoyed the victory lane photo shoot every bit as much as Tim. Numerous drivers and owners rushed the Hogue Team to extend their congratulations.
The URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series made their third annual appearance at the Penn Can Speedway and delivered a field of twenty-six sprint cars. URC heat race events were won by Pete Green, Josh Weller and Matt Gerber as Justin Collett rallied home the winner of the "B" Main.
A field of twenty-four URC sprint cars took the flag and as the exited the second turn, rookie driver JJ Grasso spun with all the traffic charging full speed ahead. The yellow was displayed as a total of six cars stopped as a result of the accident. Involved was Scott Pursell, Grasso, Justin Collett, Cliff Brian and former champion Sean Michael.
On the restart, Tim Hogue took the lead from pole sitter Kevin Welsh who stayed in contention for the win over the course of the entire twenty-five laps. Dave McGough was on a mission as he moved into the runner-up spot on lap four. Cliff Brian came to a stop in turn three and the yellow flag was displayed.
Strong winds in the afternoon challenged the Penn Can track conditions and the real test took place on lap nine when George Suprick, Dave Gable, Matt Gerber and Howard Singer all came together in turn four. The restart once again saw Tim Hogue take control and set the pace. Deeper in the pack, the top guns were charging as Kevin Welsh, Chris Coyle, Curt Michael and Randy West were all tying to get a shot at the leader.
At the halfway mark, Justin Collett and Mike Haggenbottom tangled, displaying still another yellow flag. The restart saw Hogue again stay in charge with McGough making every attempt to take the top spot. Following Hogue and McGough was Kevin Welsh, Chris Coyle and Curt Michael.
With just ten laps remaining, the shuffling for positions was taking place. Chris Coyle made a bold move on lap sixteen to move into third and at the same time, Randy West was on a charge. Coyle ran the outside groove and brought fans to their feet as he challenged for second. With five laps remaining, the top five was Hogue, McGough, Randy West, Chris Coyle and Curt Michael.
On lap twenty-two, the exciting ride of Chris Coyle came to an end when he flipped over the fourth turn wall. Coyle was not injured but was very disappointed that his great ride had to end this way.
In the final laps, McGough made a late race challenge but just ran short of time to wrestle Tim Hogue for the win. The official top ten include Dave McGough second followed by Randy West, Curt Michael, Dave Ely, Kevin Welsh, Brian Seidel, Scott Pursell, Jason Clauss and Cliff Brian. Turning in an impressive ride was Justin Collett who won the consolation and advanced to eleventh in the feature. Scott Pursell was involved in an early race accident and had to restart in the rear. Pursell retuned to finish eight.
URC FEATURE FINISH: Tim Hogue, Dave McGough, Randy West, Curt Michael, Dave Ely, Kevin Welsh, Brian Seidel, Scott Pursell, Jason Clauss, Cliff Brian, Justin Collett, Ed Aikin, Pete Green, Bill Brian Jr., Josh Weller, Chris Coyle, Mike Haggenbottom, Howard Singer, George Suprick, Matt Gerber, Dave Gable, Kramer Williamson, Sean Michael, JJ Grasso. Adams led the entire distance to win his fourth career URC feature event.
In the eighth event of the Advance Auto

On lap four, the yellow flag was displayed for Matt Gerber who stopped in turn

tangled in turn one. The next restart delivered still another yellow flag when
Josh Weller made hard contact with the first turn wall.. The lap six
restart saw Adams, Seidel and McGough return to their battler for the lead with
Adams once again, mastering the field to set the pace. As the race approached
the halfway point, Seidel was gaining ground and found a burst of energy to
challenge for the lead.
As the field passed for lap fifteen, Adams remained the pace setter over Seidel,
Haggenbottom, and Dave McGough as current URC point leader and three time
feature winner, Curt Michael moved into the picture. Another driver on a charge
was Kramer Williamson who was inching closer to the top five.
With just five laps remaining, Seidel was
closing in on Adams as Williamson moved into fifth. On lap twenty-two,
Williamson was fourth and closing on Mike Haggenbottom. In the closing laps,
Haggenbottom retained the third position, holding off the challenge of the
talented veteran. Kenny Adams charged home the feature winner over

VALLEY FORGE INC PENNSYLVANIA SPRINT SERIES OPENS AT BIG DIAMOND. . . . .
CURT MICHAEL LEADS ENTIRE DISTANCE TO SCORE THIRD URC FEATURE WIN OF 2004
FORESTVILLE, PA MAY 21, 2004 . . . . Curt Michael of Ocean
View, DE is the only repeat URC feature winner of 2004 and Friday night at
the Big Diamond Raceway, Michael scored his third win of the season and
twenty-first career victory under the URC banner. With rain early in the
day, the skies brightened and gave way to sunshine which set-up for a
beautiful night of racing in the opening event of the Valley Forge INC
Pennsylvania Sprint Series.
A field of twenty-nine URC sprint cars took part in the seventh race of the season with heat race victories going to Kevin Welsh, Tim Hogue and Dave Gable as Jon Eldreth came home the winner of the "B" Main event.
Twenty-five cars took the green flag in the twenty-five lap feature event
but before one lap was completed, the red flag was displayed for a wild
seven car accident on the backstretch. Chris Coyle and Tim Hogue came
together which caused a chain reaction that saw Gary Gollub and Kenny Adams
flip. Also collected in the mishap was Jon Eldreth, Cliff Brian Jr., and
Josh Weller.
The restart went much better as Curt Michael set the pace at the drop of the
green flag. Dave Ely and Scott Pursell were in a battle for second as
Pete Green and Kramer Williamson followed in the top five. The caution flag
was displayed on lap eight for Billy Brian Jr who spun on the homestretch.
This restart was a thriller as Dave Ely dove to the inside of Curt Michael
going into turn one. The Frank Davis prepared sprinter was set to
perfection and Michael made driving look easy.
As the field passed for the halfway mark, Michael remained the pace setter
with Ely runner-up followed by Pursell, Kramer Williamson and last weeks
feature winner Kevin Welsh. At the front of the pack, Curt Michael was
able to put about six car lengths between himself and the runner-up Dave
Ely. Slower traffic could now factor into the outcome of this event, but
race leader Curt Michael mastered the field flawlessly.
With just five laps remaining, Michael and Ely were at the controls followed
by Pursell, Kevin Welsh and Jason Clauss running fifth. With just two
laps to go, Mares Stellfox drifted to the outside, tagged the wall and
flipped just before exiting turn four.
The restart set the stage for a two lap dash to the spoils. With the green
flag waiving, Curt Michael was off and running as Kevin Welsh dove to the
inside and passed Ely for second with Pursell and Williamson following in
the top five. Welsh, who started in the ninth position, made the charge
to second but was just a few laps short of having a chance to challenge Curt
Michael for the win.
With the checker flag waiving, Michael took the victory with Welsh second,
Dave Ely third, Kramer Williamson fourth and Jason Clauss fifth. A late
race flat tire dropped the Scott Pursell sprinter to sixth, after running in
the top five most of the race.
In the opening heat race event of the night, Kevin Welsh took the win after
starting ninth. In the URC feature, Kenny Adams of Malibar, FL flipped in
the first lap accident and returned to the field to collect an impressive
tenth place finish.
FEATURE FINISH: Curt Michael, Kevin Welsh, Dave Ely, Kramer Williamson,
Jason Clauss, Scott Pursell, Sean Michael, Mike Haggenbottom, Tim Hogue,

KEVIN WELSH DOMINATES URC FIELD SATURDAY AT DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL
DELMAR, DE MAY 15, 2004 . . . . Kevin Welsh of Far Hills, NJ was the
class of the field on Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway for
the sixth event of the URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series event. Welsh
charged to the front of the field, taking the lead on lap eight then ran
unchallenged to the victory in the twenty-five lap feature event. For Welsh it
was his fourth career win and first victory of the season. Welsh also became
the fifth different feature winner in six URC events. Curt Michael is the
only repeat winner with two victories this season.
Three heat race events were necessary to
qualify the thirty-three car field with Gary Gollub, Bill Brian Jr. and Kramer
Williamson taking the victories Randy West came home the winner of the "B" Main.
The Saturday night event was the second race of the Taylor & Messick Delaware
State Sprint Series with Brian Seidel winning the previous outing on April 24.
At the drop of the green flag Jason Clauss was the leader for the first circuit
with the yellow being displayed as the field completed the first lap. The first
yellow flag was displayed on lap two when Joe Zuczek, Ed Aikin and Sean Michael.
On the restart, Clauss again set the pace
with Scott Pursell in the chase followed by Bill Brian Jr. and Kevin
Welsh. By lap five, Welsh was racing in third and on lap seven he moved into
the runner-up spot. The yellow flag was again displayed on lap eight when JJ
Grasso flipped in turn one.On the restart, there was another mix-up this time
gathering Justin Collett, Mike Haggenbottom and Sean Michael.
This was the caution flag Welsh was waiting for as he took the lead from Clauss
on the restart. Once on top, Welsh was so dominant that he had more then
a half lap lead over second place runner Bill Brian JR at the halfway point of
the race. Welsh set the pace followed by Clauss, Pursell, Brian and Dave Ely.
Welsh pretty much checked out and left the field behind but deep in the pack,
there was still plenty of racing going on. Bill Brian JR used every inch of the
outside groove to move into fourth, but he still had to battle with Pursell,
Clauss and eventually race leader Kevin Welsh.
Bill Brian Jr. advanced to third on lap fifteen and by lap seventeen he was in
second. With the help of some slower traffic, Brian was on a charge and in the
closing laps, he quickly closed the gap between himself and front runner Kevin
Welsh. Another driver on a charge was Dave Ely. After starting at mid-pack,
Ely was on a drive and running fifth just after the halfway sign. Brian made
with just one lap remaining, Ely used the outside groove to pass Scott Pursell
with the checker flag waiving. The win was well earned by Kevin Welsh followed

Michael.

McGOUGH, WEST & AIKIN ENJOYING GREAT
START TO URC 2004 SEASON
LANGHORNE, PA . . . . . MAY 11, 2004 . . . . The URC Advance Auto
Parts Sprint Series sponsored by BAR's Leaks is just five events into the 2004
racing season and already, there are four different feature winners. Sean
Michael, Brian Seidel and Jon Eldreth have each scored a single URC win as Curt
Michael is the only driver to visit victory lane on two occasions. Curt
Michael of Ocean View, DE has established a sense of domination, leading the
season long point chase as well as the FRED's Trailer Parts Center NJ Sprint
Series. The other Michael Brother, Sean Michael of Allentown, PA is also off to
a strong start, currently ranked second in the chase for the URC Championship
Title.
Although the Michael Brothers are performing at the top of their game, there is
just no room to sit back and wait. Enjoying a great start to the 2004 URC
season is Dave McGough, Randy West and Ed Aikin. McGough of Sassamansville, PA
was the 1994 URC Champion and the winner of twelve feature events. McGough is
now sitting third in the URC Championship title run and less then one- hundred
points shy of the number one spot. Also enjoying success this season is Randy
West of Allentown, PA. Driving the Elmer Stoltzfus #00 sprinter, West has
been very consistent in his feature runs and good enough to be sitting in the
eighth spot in the URC point chase.
Hot off a second place finish on Saturday night the New Egypt Speedway, Ed
Aikin of Lincoln University, PA is ninth in points and well on his way to what
could be his best season ever. It was Aikin who seriously considered sitting on
the sidelines this season, instead, he came back to be an even stronger
competitor. With just five events in the books this season, 2004 appears
to be another repeat season of vast competition that delivers a variety of
different winners. It's just not that easy to qualify and winning the feature
events are an even bigger challenge.
URC will be in action this Saturday night, returning to the Delaware
International Speedway for the second race of the Taylor & Messick Delaware
State Sprint Series. The following weekend, URC will be in competition at the
Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night, May 21 followed by a visit to the
Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday night, May 22. For more information, the

Fred's Trailer Parts Center New Jersey
Sprint Series Continues. . . . .
JON ELDRETH SURPRISE WINNER IN FINAL LAPS OF URC MAIN EVENT SATURDAY AT NEW
EGYPT
NEW EGYPT, NJ MAY 8, 2004 . . . . . With just two laps remaining,
Jon Eldreth of Rising Sun, MD passed Ed Aikin of Lincoln University, PA to win
the twenty-five lap URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series feature event last
Saturday night at the New Egypt Speedway. It was another sprint car thriller
at the New Jersey speedway as Eldreth scored his first win of the season and
sixth career URC win.
A field of thirty URC sprint cars took part in the racing program with heat victories going to Dave McGough, Cliff Brian and Kevin Welsh. Curt Michael, winner of the URC event at New Egypt on April 17, failed to qualify through the heat race by did come home the winner of the12 lap "B" Main event.
Twenty-five sprint cars answered the call
for the feature event and it was Ed Aikin taking the lead at the drop of the
green. Jon Eldreth followed in second with Dave McGough third. As the top
three set the pace, they also ran to hide from the rest of the field. All eyes
were on Curt Michael, who started deep in the pack as a result of not qualifying
through the heat. Michael, who started nineteenth, was on a charge to the
front and running in twelfth by lap six.
Also on a strong run was Brian Seidel who
was running in sixth. A fine ride for Seidel came to an end on lap seven when
he jumped a tire and flipped after making contact with the second turn wall.
Seidel did walk away uninjured.
On the restart, Aikin remained the pace setter with Eldreth and McGough still in
the chase. Kramer Williamson developed mechanical problems and Tim Hogue had
no where to go but into the wall, displaying the yellow on lap eight. Back to
green flag racing and Ed Aikin continued his solid ride. At the halfway
mark, Aikin, Eldreth and McGough remained the top three as Mike Haggenbottom and
Randy West followed in the top five.
As the second half of the race progressed, Eldreth and McGough began to close on
the leader. Deeper in the pack, Curt Michael was still on a charge in chase of
breaking into the top five. Dave Ely, the defending URC Champion was also
making a run, now in sixth on lap eighteen.
A fine run for Ely came to an end when a
flat tire sidelined him from competition on lap twenty-two, displaying the final
caution of the feature. This event would now end with a three lap shootout and
at the drop of the green flag, Eldreth made the bold move to take the lead from
Aikin. In the final two circuits, Aikin made several attempts to regain the
top lead but Eldreth used some hidden speed to build a comfortable lead to take
the checker flag. Aikin finished second followed by Dave McGough and Mike
Haggenbottom as Curt Michael earned a strong fifth place finish.
FEATURE FINISH: Jon Eldreth, Ed Aikin, Dave McGough, Mike Haggenbottom, Curt
Michael, Randy West, Kevin Welsh, Josh Weller, Chris Coyle, Bill Brian Jr.,

Fred's Trailer Parts Center NJ State Sprint Series Continues. . . . .
CURT MICHAEL TAKES URC WIN ON THE FAST TRACK SATURDAY NIGHT AT
BRIDGEPORT
BRIDGEPORT, NJ MAY 1, 2004 . . . . . . "This is the Bridgeport
track I remember," said an elated Curt Michael after winning the twenty-five lap
URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint feature event on Saturday night at the Bridgeport
Speedway. Michael was making reference to the excellent track conditions that
produced the fastest laps so far this season in URC competition. For Michael,
it was not an easy win, taking the lead on lap nineteen when race leader Scott
Pursell spun due to a flat tire.
Michael survived a late race challenge from Dave Ely and the race winners brother Sean Michael, to score his second win of the season and twentieth career URC win. With thirty-six cars in the pit area, four heat race event were required to qualify the field with victories going to Kevin Welsh, Randy West, Cliff Brian and Pete Green as Dave McGough won the "B" main.
The field was called to the speedway for the
twenty-five lap URC sprint feature which is a point race on the season long URC
Advance Auto Parts Title Chase as well as the Fred's Trailer Parts Center New
Jersey State Sprint Series. Jason Clauss took the lead at the drop of the green
flag with Scott Pursell in the chase. Clauss was the leader for the first
three circuits then the yellow was displayed for Pete Green who stopped on the
homestretch. On the restart, Clauss remained the pacesetter but just one lap
later , Pursell became the new race leader.
The second yellow flag of the event came out on lap six for Jon Eldreth who spun
in turn two while running a strong third. On the restart, Pursell remained the
leader but now Kevin Welsh was in the hunt and closing in on the leader.
Curt Michael was also on a drive to the front, now racing in third followed by
defending URC Champion Dave Ely.
Junior Martin spun and brought out the yellow flag on lap twelve. On the restart, Pursell and Welsh continued to set the pace followed by Curt Michael, Sean Michael and Ely. By lap eighteen, Curt Michael was challenging the leader when the left rear tire blew sending the Pursell sprinter into a spin. Michael just narrowly missed the disabled sprinter of Scott Pursell as the yellow flag was displayed. This change of event sturned the lead over to Curt Michael with Dave Ely now second.
With six laps remaining, Curt Michael, Dave Ely, Sean Michael, Kevin Welsh and Mike Haggenbottom were the front runners. Ely tried to get a run at the leader but Michael was not going to be challenged. Kevin Welsh brought out the yellow on lap twenty-four when he blew a tire running in the top five with two laps remaining.
Curt Michael took the green flag to restart the event but now his brother, Sean Michael was in the chase and running second. Just before the drop of the checker flag, the red flag was displayed on lap twenty-four when Brian Brittingham took a tumble in turn one. Brian was not injured in the accident.
The restart was a one lap run to the checker flag. Although Sean Michael tried every groove, he was not the match for Curt Michael. Curt took the victory over Sean with Dave Ely turning in animpressive third place finish followed by Brian Seidel and Cliff Brian.

Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint
Series Opens Saturday Night. . . . .BRIAN SEIDEL CHARGES FROM TWELFTH TO SCORE
URC WIN AT DELAWARE INTL'
DELMAR, DE APRIL 24, 2004 . . . .
.Just three events into the 2004 URC Advance Auto Parts Series and the racing
just keeps getting better. Brian Seidel of Allentown, PA charged from his
twelfth starting position to take the lead on lap seventeen to rally home the
winner of the twenty-five lap URC sprint feature on Saturday night at the
Delaware International Speedway. This show marked the opening event of the
Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series and was the first win of the
season for Seidel and his twelfth career win with the United Racing Club.
It was without a doubt an impressive win for Seidel but all eyes were on the sprint car of Justin Collett of Middletown, DE. Collett set the pace for the first fifteen laps and provided a great battle for runner-up Dave Ely and third place Curt Michael in the closing laps. Collett delivered a solid fourth place finish for his first career top five run.
The URC sprints attracted a field of thirty cars with heat race victories go to Jon Eldreth, Junior Martin an Jason Clauss as Billy Brian Jr. took the win the twelve lap "B" Main.
A field of twenty-four sprints started the feature event with Collett taking the lead at the drop of the green. On lap two, Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA spun in turn two, displaying the first caution flag of the event. On the restart, Collett was again the pace setter, this time with Scott Pursell and Dave Ely in the hunt.
On lap seven, Ed Aikin spun in turn two and the caution flag was displayed once again. The restart saw Collett remain the leader but now Ely was second followed Pursell, Kramer Williamson and Brian Seidel right in the chase. Collett ran perfect laps and he just never made a mistake. In the meantime, Seidel was now well on his way and racing in third as Ely continued to look for lane to get around Collett.
As the field passed for the halfway sign, the yellow flag was again displayed for Josh Weller. The restart saw Collett remain cool and calm and was he just not going to move out of his groove. On lap fifteen, Seidel moved to the inside lane, passing Ely for second. Just one lap later, Seidel became the new leader as Ely made the same move for second. All this shuffling now had Collett racing in third. With five laps remaining, Seidel and Ely were at the head of the pack with Curt Michael third, Collett fourth and Sean Michael now in the top five.
In the closing laps, Ely tried to reel in the leader but just ran short of time. Third place runner Curt Michael also made a run at the pace setters but only move within about five car lengths of runner-up Dave Ely.
Brian Seidel flashed under the checker flag to take the victory over defending point leader Dave Ely, Curt Michael, Justin Collett and Sean Michael. Making up the top ten were Dave McGough, Kramer Williamson, Dave Gable, Kevin Welsh and Chris Coyle. The Hard Charger Award in the feature was presented to Chris Coyle after starting twenty-four and finishing tenth. Mike Haggenbottom, the point leader going into this event, was involved in a heat race accident that eliminated him from competition the balance of the night.
FEATURE FINISH: Brian Seidel, Dave Ely, Curt Michael, Justin Collett, Sean Michael, Dave McGough, Kramer Williamson, Dave Gable, Kevin Welsh, Chris Coyle, Scott Pursell, Jason Clauss, Jon Eldreth, Tim Hogue, Randy West, Gary Gollub, Joe Zuczek, Mike Kostic, Ashley Parlett, Bill Brian Jr., Junior Martin, Josh Weller, Ed Aikin, JJ Grasso. CURT MICHAEL BEST IN FIVE CAR RACE TO THE CHECKER FLAG SATURDAY AT NEW EGYPT
SPEEDWAY
NEW EGYPT, NJ APRIL 17, 2004 . . . . Curt Michael of Ocean View,
Delaware won the twenty-five lap URC Advance Auto Parts sprint car feature event
on Saturday night at the New Egypt Speedway. But in the exciting closing laps,
all eyes were on Dave McGough, Chris Coyle, Dave Ely and Mike Haggenbottom they
wrestled lap by lap for position. Coyle, driving the Kennedy/Turpin sprinter
turned a few laps of rim-riding that brought the crowd to their feet as Dave
McGough worked the low groove, nipping Coyle to earn the runner-up spot. The
battle between McGough and Coyle, opened the door for defending champion Dave
Ely and former champion Mike Haggenbottom to reel in the leaders. The
competition ran short of time as Michael took the victory, his first of the
season and nineteenth career URC win.
A field of thirty-three URC sprint cars turned out for the second event of the URC campaign and the second race of the Fred's Trailer Parts Center New Jersey Sprint Series. Heat race events were won by Kramer Williamson, Gary Gollub and Dave Gable as Josh Weller came home the winner of the "B" Main event.
A field of twenty-five URC sprint cars took the green flag in the twenty-five lap feature event. Before the first lap was complete, Cliff Brian spun in turn two, displaying the first caution flag of the race. On the restart, Chris Coyle gunned into an early lead was Dave McGough in the hunt. Jason Clauss stopped on the apron of the speedway and the yellow flag was waiving again, this time on lap three. Coyle and McGough returned to their battle for the lead when green flag racing resumed, but once again, the yellow was displayed when Brian Seidel and Jon Eldreth tangled in turn four. With the green light back on, Coyle and McGough now had Curt Michael, Ed Aikin and Mike Haggenbottom in the top five. On lap nine, Michael moved into second and began to hunt down Coyle who was using the outside groove to thrill the fans with each passing lap.
A slight brush with the first time wall and Coyle opened the door for Curt Michael to make an inside move to take the lead. At the halfway sign, Michael has a scant lead with Coyle second followed by a persistent Dave McGough as Haggenbottom and Aikin followed in the top five. Sean Michael of Allentown, PA and winner of the 2004 URC season opener at the Bridgeport Speedway, was involved in a tangle in his heat race and was forced to qualify through the "B" Main. Michael was on charge and even with an ill-handling sprint car, he was racing in the top ten on lap fifteen. Michael finished a strong seventh.
At the front of the pack, Michael was on top, maintaining a three car length lead over runner-up Dave McGough and third place Chris Coyle. McGough began to close in on the leader but Chris Coyle was once again building momentum in the high and wide outside lane. Just as the leaders found themselves in slower traffic, the yellow was displayed on lap nineteen for Justin Collett. With just six laps remaining, a thrilling finish was sure to climax this event.
Curt Michael took the green flag as Coyle
passed McGough for second. With just five laps remaining, Coyle was now
challenging Michael for the lead as McGough brought the company of Mike
Haggenbottom and Dave Ely to party. Five cars were now racing for the win as
Michael set the pace with McGough and Coyle in a dog-fight for second with
Haggenbottom and Ely just off the pace.
On the white flag lap, Ely moved into fourth as Coyle attempted to set-up for
the last lap pass for the lead. McGough slipped by Coyle to finish second with
Dave Ely fourth and Mike Haggenbottom fifth.
FEATURE FINISH: Curt Michael, Dave McGough, Chris Coyle, Dave Ely, Mike Haggenbottom, Bill Brian Sr., Sean Michael, Kramer Williamson, Danny Massey, Randy West, Josh Weller, Matt Gerber, Ed Aikin, Tim Hogue, Scott Pursell, Doug Emery, Dave Gable, Justin Collett, Gary Gollub, Joe Zuczek, Jon Eldreth, Brian Seidel, Pete Green, Jason Clauss, Cliff Brian. URC begins fifty-seventh season . . . . .. . . . .SEAN MICHAEL DOMINATES
URC OPENER SATURDAY AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
BRIDGEPORT, NJ APRIL 10, 2004 . . . . . The United Racing Club
opened their fifty- event season on Saturday night at the "new" Bridgeport
Speedway. A big crowd saw the 1997 and 1999 URC Champion Sean Michael of
Allentown, PA conquer a field of thirty-six sprint cars to win the lid-lifter
driving the Cathy and Pat Palladino sprint car. For Michael, it was his
twenty-third career URC victory. This event also marked the first race of the
2004 Fred's Trailer Parts Center NJ State Series.
A series of four URC heat race events were presented with victories going to Kevin Welsh, Dave Ely, Pete Green and Jim Wyers. The twelve lap URC "B" was won by Chris Coyle. In the twenty-five lap Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series feature, Danny Massey was the early race leader driving the Scats Anfuso sprint car. The starting line-up was determined by a draw for the top twelve positions between the top three finishers in each heat race.
As Massey set the pace, Sean Michael and Dave Ely followed to make-up the top three. Joe Zuczek of Robbinsville, NJ was running a solid fourth as Brian Seidel driving the Mike Bostic sprinter followed to make up the top five.
The first caution of the event was displayed on lap six when J.J. Grasso spun in turn one. On the restart, Massey again held the top spot holding Michael to the runner-up spot. The top five remained unchanged with Massey, Michael, Ely, Zuczek and Seidel holding the top spots.
At the halfway point, the top five remained unchanged, however, Michael was racing well within striking distance to take the lead. The second caution of the race was displayed on lap fourteen when Grasso stopped on the homestretch. The restart saw Massey hold the top spot with Michael on his rear bumper.
One lap later, Michael made a bold outside bid to take the lead and successfully accomplished the move to become the new leader on lap eighteen. Michael ran to hide from the rest of the field until the caution was displayed on lap twenty-one for Dave Ely. While running a solid third, mechanical problems forced Ely off the pace to bring out the final yellow of the night on lap twenty-one. With just four laps remaining, Sean Michael held off all challengers to score his first win of the season. Danny Massey finished second followed by Brian Seidel, Joe Zuczek and Kevin Welsh. Zuczek, turning in his best career finish with URC, was disqualified for not going directly to scales moving Tim Hogue into the top five. SEAN MICHAEL . . . URC'S ONLY REPEAT CHAMPION SINCE 1993
LANGHORNE, PA MARCH 14, 2004 . . . .Sean Michael of Allentown, PA will
return to URC this season, challenging the best of URC behind the wheel of the
powerful Kathy Palladino owned sprint car. Michael, the winner of twenty-two
URC features and two championships, also has the distinction of being the only
repeat champion since 1993. While weekly tracks and other traveling racing
series find the same drivers winning their point championships year after year,
that is not the case with URC. Since 1993, ten different drivers have claimed
the URC Championship title with Sean Michael being the only repeat title
winner. Michael won his first URC title in 1997 when the club celebrated their
50th Anniversary. Michael returned in 1999 to again claim the championship and
since that time, the list of new champions continues to grow.
Dave McGough (1993), Greg Coverdale (1994), Kramer Williamson (1995), Glenn
Fitzcharles (1996), Curt Michael (1998), Brian Seidel, (2000) Mike Haggenbottom
(2001), Bill Brian Jr (2002) and Dave Ely (2003) join Sean Michael as the
eleven year history of URC past champions. Looking to the 2004 season, Sean
Michael and the Palladino sprinter will be a major contender for the
championship title, but don't court out brother Curt Michael, who will be
driving the Frank Davis owned sprint car. Competition will be plentiful
once again within URC. The Michael Brothers will get their share of opposition,
especially from defending URC Champion Dave Ely.
Driving the JMO sprinter, Ely would like nothing more then to repeat his accomplishment of winning the URC Championship in 2002. Ely is looking to be the first back-to-back URC Champion since Kramer Williamson delivered that accomplishment in 1991 and 1992. Just for the record, Glenn Fitzcharles won four consecutive URC titles from 1987 to 1990 and Dave Kelly was the club champion from 1984 to 1986. Now lets go one step further. In 1981, Dave Kelly won his first URC title and won a total of five championships through 1986. URC has certainly changed and so has the level of competition.
The URC Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series sponsored by BAR's Leaks has a long list of potential champions in the coming season. Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA finished second in URC points last year and will be looking to improve that finish by at least one position. Dave McGough of Sassamansville, PA had a great comeback season to deliver a fourth place finish in the 2003 point chase. McGough hopes to have even a closer shot at winning the URC title in 2004. Kevin Welsh, Mike Haggenbottom, Bill Brian Jr, Chris Coyle and Brian Seidel will all be in the hunt to win this years URC title.
The new Bridgeport Speedway will host the
URC opener on Saturday night, April 10. This spacious five-eighth mile oval is
home of some of the fastest high speed sprint car racing in the country. The
Fred's Trailer Parts Center New Jersey Sprint Series will also begin with
opening day at Bridgeport. The New Jersey Series will continue with the second
race of the season at the New Egypt Speedway on Saturday night, April 17. To
close out the month of April, URC will make their first stop of the season at
the Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night, April 24. A
busy season is planned for URC with more then thirty-five events schedule for
2004. The Advance Auto Parts Sprint Series will also visit Pennsylvania, New
York, Michigan, Iowa plus a two race stop in Canada. For more information,
